In his TV series, he drives me crazy by repeating sentences/thoughts 3 times and having the characters say and do the same things 3 times so you start to wonder if he has a ‘thing’ for that number.

I never miss an episode of “If loving you is wrong”, “The have and the have nots” and “For better or worse”. What does all this have to do with his new “Tyler Perry’s Acrimony”? For a writer/director who knows how to put in cliff hanger after cliff hanger, who knows how to put a lot of soap and opera in the term ‘Soap Opera’, makes a number of beginners mistakes. Where to start? The slow pacing of the first hour with way too many voiceovers, a lack of chemistry between the two lead characters whether as their younger selves (Aijona Alexus and Antonio Madison) or when older (Taraji P. Henson) and Lyriq Bent) not to forget that most people who know Taraji P. Henson from the TV series “Empire” will miss the sass that is as much a part of her as her walk. Let’s not forget the obvious studio shots that were false looking back in the 1950s like people walking in front of a screened background shot.

Tyler Perry, the writer, gives his actors some ludicrous lines to read not to mention his lead male character represents the emasculated man that makes many of the scenes laughable and the psychological reasons for what the female lead does what she does like dancing, cursing, crashing cars isn’t reasonably explained.

The best thing about this movie is the Nina Simone songs which really don’t fit into the screenplay but hearing her voice is always a plus.

I am a Tyler Perry fan and go to see all his movies—except for those ‘starring’ Madea—whether he is the producer, writer, director and/or actor but the only reason to see this is to listen to the women in the audience react!

That beingTyler Perry's Acrimony is one of the most melodramatic and lazy movies I have ever seen. The only people that liked this movie in the theater where I saw it at were the hordes of highly conservative women that filled the seats. That being said, their loud reactions to the film were quite entertaining, and I even joined in on the fun.

The biggest problem with Acrimony is the script. It thinks that it is a lot more intelligent than it really is. The chapter style set up was ok, but after that it really fell apart. The most tragic events are strung together and then subsequently brushed over in the most hamfisted way possible. Character motivations are clear for the most part, but the revenge driving Taraji P. Henson's character made her almost supernatural in her vengeance, and she even reappears on a boat completely dry after being knocked off it while the boat is going at a high speed. This cheesieness starkly contrasts with the kitchen sink realism that the movie tries to be. The direction is just lazy and uninspired. It's shot like a sub-par lifetime movie. The acting is perfectly melodramatic for the material. It's definitely over the top and unbelievable. A lot of scenery-chewing from the whole cast. That being said, if you like "so-bad-its-good" type of movies, definitely check out Acrimony!

Either Tyler Perry doesn't know how to make a good movie, he doesn't care, or he believes that his audience is happy with his man-bashing, poorly written, poorly directed, dreadful, melodramatic, movies twice a year. I know Tyler Perry's movies aren't made for guys like me. I should have been home watching the game. But, even my wife, who is a Tyler Perry fan, had to admit that "Acrimony" was terrible. Actually, believe it or not, I think Tyler Perry has a good, sophisticated, movie somewhere inside of him. When I finally see it, I will be the first to give it praise. Until then, I won't be making any more bets with my wife. Expand

It's a Tyler Perry film, so no surprises there, but apparently Taraji P. Henson didn't understand she can do better.

Only reason why I watched this movie last night, is because my mother wanted to go because of all black cast and Tyler Perry. Only 6 people in the movie screening room. I knew I wouldn't like it. Wish I could slip into another movie screening room to watch "A Quiet Place". The only person I feel sorry for was the Black man(lead actor). I forgot his name. I don't like any of the characters. This is the movie where it won't sit in Netflix for long. Because nobody will rent it over and over again. Spike Lee and Tyler Perry are so lucky, sad that they make dreadful movies. Maybe in Netflix's African American category... with all the other stupid movies. Black Panther is one of the best movies with the all-black cast. Color Purple too... but were produced, written and directed by White people. Oh well. Expand

It is really hard to see Tyler Perry in the same light knowing that he wrote and directed this movie; as many parts of it simply didn't make any sense. To add to the poorly written script, this movie is really long. I am already not a fan of Tyler Perry movies. This just makes it worse. Expand

Tyler Perry makes nothing but trash every time. If you want him to stop, then convince your friends to stop seeing these films.
