This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toy Story 3 had the most beautiful ending ever. It said messages like to always stick together with your family, and that sometimes, change was for the better. Then TS4 came along, Tore it up, and spat on TS3's ending. So what happens is Woody isn't really being played with anymore, and-Let's stop right there. Problem 1# Bonnie PROMISED Andy to take good care of Woody. This is what she does? Okay...moving on. Anyway, Woody goes with Bonnie to Kindergarten. While She's there, she makes. Problem 2# Forky. (I will get to him later) Bonnie's family decides to take a road trip. Woody and Forky get separated from the RV and they find an Antique store. They find Bo Peep there, and also Gabby Gabby, ANOTHER big problem. There, Forky gets captured and the main plots revolves around them trying to save Forky. Forky was SO ANNOYING. I hated him, ever since I saw him in the trailers. He made Woody suffer and when he gets captured, he does NOTHING to help himself. In fact, he finds joy with the Villain. Seriously? Bo Peep, also. Her personality changed, for the worse. She bossed Woody around, Called him an idiot and an accessory. I didn't like that one bit! The old crew, (Jessie, Hamm, Rex, and Slinky) Are BARLEY in it. Even though Mr. Potato head was a negative character, I would much rather have him. Jessie's only thing consisted of a bad joke after flattening the Rv tire. The new characters are SUPER forgettable. The Buzz parts are pretty useless. They dumbed his character down to a dumbo who listens to his buttons for "guidance." The Villain, Gabby Gabby was honestly a terrible villain. As another review said, Villains are meant to be sly, hateful, manipulative, usually have a motivation to be evil and never take options to become good. Gabby Gabby has...none of these traits. How to NOT make a villain.

The worse has to be THAT TERRIBLE ENDING! In the last movie, Woody and all the toys almost ended up DYING JUST to get back to Andy. Also, in the beginning, we see Woody being stubborn, to not give up on Andy. For Woody to do what he did was so, so out of character. In the end, Woody left his Toy Family behind to be with a Woman who pushed him around, called him an idiot, an accessory, and tried to shut him up, to bE a lOsT toY. HOOORRRIIIBBLLLEEEE!!!

The only good parts I will say, is the beginning where it explained what happens to Bo Peep and some of the toys (Original crew) work as a team to save the RC car. And yes, the animation in beautiful, almost real. This is a terrible sequel that had no need to get made to an another-wise beautiful film. I am not counting this as one of the Toy Story films. Terrible. 2/10.

Just bad. they made Buzz like a total dork from a really dependable character from toy story 1-3 helping woody get back to Andy, rescue woody from the prospector, all that stuff? well now Buzz is just a complete befall who relies on his toy buttons or his "inner voice" before doing an action. Jesse and all the other toys were at the RV the entire time, with the only thing that Jesse has to involve with this movies is literally popping off the tire off Bonnie's family camper truck, and that's it. so many plotholes, and the ending is just so bad. It's just so disgusting Woody decided to leave Bonnie behind and become this sort of "lost Toy" arc that he is at the end. Woody once said that it doesn't matter how much they're played with, and what matters is that they're there for their owner when they need them. and yet here we are at Toy Story 4 where Woody completely ignores that quote he did back then and decided to leave Bonnie, leave all of his friends behind, just to pursue a new life with Bo Peep as a "lost toy". And now that Woody's with Bo in the end, he's not there anymore for Bonnie when she need him. the fact that Bonnie still grabbed Woody and played with him in one of the camping scene is still evident that Bonnie might still need him. and Woody left his responsibility behind, and that means leaving all his friends behind too. It's just sooooo broken.

It's just so bad, that I think the writers of this movie purposely did that to end the whole Toy Story saga for good, now that Woody is practically separated.

Toy Story 4 continues the beloved Pixar franchise in a charming and heartwarming way. The film follows Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang as they embark on a new adventure with Bonnie and her new toy, Forky.

The animation in Toy Story 4 is nothing short of incredible. The attention to detail in each character and setting is remarkable, and the animation truly brings the world of Toy Story to life. The film's stunning visuals are paired with a strong storyline that explores themes of friendship, identity, and the importance of change.

Undoubtedly the weakest movie of the franchise thus far, but there is still enough here to keep both kids and adults entertained. While the story and message is noteworthy the journey does hit a few flat spots along the way.

Part 4 was quite interesting. Very different from the other ones, still a decent movie. The toys think that Andy threw them away in the garbage but he didn't. So the toys decide to run away. Also a pretty sad movie too.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Woah, everything was just fine and then this happens. Toy Story 4 is a terrible movie in my opinion and I will explain why. Toy Story 4 ruins the past 3 masterpieces. Although the animation is great, it just doesn’t fit a Toy Story movie. The movie ruins the personality of the lovable characters. Buzz Lightyear was shown to be very intelligent and bold but they turned him stupid in this movie. Woody also became a big hypocrite and isn’t the sarcastic lovable and loyal character he once was, in previous movies Woody said to be always be there for Andy, but in this movie it is shown at the beginning that he was about to leave his friends and Andy to stay with Bo Peep. The Woody we all remembered would never do this, the directors clearly don’t know their characters well enough in Toy Story 4. I also hate how Buzz and Woody were the only characters of the original toys that were used enough unlike in past movies. The movie also ruins the meaning of what a “Toy” Story is. Forky isn’t even a toy and I find it stupid that the directors made a spork, put goggly eyes on it and called it a Toy. They also ruined Bo Peep in my opinion. Bo Peep went from a normal and gentle young lady to this badass and fearless character which is unlike her and not how we remember her. The final reasons I hate Toy Story 4 is because the story is terrible and there was no need to be a Toy Story 4. All that happens is Bonnie makes a “Toy”, it gets lost and Woody goes to retrieve the “Toy” and on his way finds Bo Peep. That’s it. This fails to give us a reason as to why we needed Toy Story 4. The story is boring, literally nothing interesting, also could Woody and Bo have reunited in a worse spot than a boring carnival, like really? The movie is filled with many unlikable characters. I also hated the ending, although Bonnie treated Woody terribly, he already had his master plan planned when he decided he was about to leave Andy for Bo at the beginning, Woody is a big hypocrite and this isn’t the Woody we all remembered, they basically ruined all the characters and what Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3 accomplished. Also they made it really hard for a Toy Story 5 to happen now because of that terrible ending. We need a Toy Story 5 to hopefully redeem this terrible movie. Expand

When I think of 3D animation I think of Toy Story. If you look back at the one made in the 90s it looks like a proof of concept submission, this is the standard now. Amazing!

The movie is great but forgets about many of the main characters. This movie is all about Woody and its basically a goodbye from Tom Hanks whos leaving the series. Remember he was there from the start. It took Pixar years to make the first Toy Story and he was part of that long journey. Pixar probably thought Tom deserved a send off of epic proportions and basically made a woody movie for him. It really is emotional to think he leaving a series hes been part of or work on across the last 25 years. But he's leaving on his terms. Who knows maybe he'll drop in.

Im going to give this a ten. It does what it sets out to do and executes it perfectly. This movie has a target and hits its target. Some movies set out to paint a house green and you end up with a teal colour but this movie is going to paint the damn house green. Its great, the colour is great. This is Pixar at its finest.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Consigliato? Nì.

The newer Toy Story, the better and better. Therefore, when they announced the fourth part, as with the previous parts, I was very worried whether they could overcome the previous part this time as well, but unfortunately in my opinion it did not work out completely. No need to comment on Toy Story 4 with an animation that Pixar simply can and has perfected over the years. Unfortunately, that's not enough and the story, although amazing, is the weakest of all the parts and unfortunately in my opinion a bit unnecessary, and it occurred to me that the creators went for money rather than quality. Still, Toy Story 4 is an amazing movie that I can recommend. Expand

Forky looked annoying, the jokes weren't landing in the trailers, and it looked like a cash grab. Boy was I ever wrong. This movie is fantastic, which is a big relief to say. Toy Story 3 is a great conclusion, but Toy Story 4 is Woody's conclusion. This one is the most bittersweet of the Toy Story's for me, but I say that with a smile on my face because this movie is directed beautifully. Forky is in fact not annoying but very funny. This movie might be the funniest Toy Story, and there is a really good story to be told here. The animation looks photorealistic; everything looks absolutely incredible in this movie. The antagonist of this movie was also really great. Lottso was great in the third but this one has even more layers which I applaud. And yes, this movie made me cry. I did not expect that, but it really happened. As for flaws, there aren't many but they do stand out a little. I wish the character of Buzz had more to do or at least wasn't "dumbed down" as many people have said. The dialogue isn't perfect and some of the talking scenes feel a bit awkward. Overall, this movie surprised the heck out of me. It's the best PIXAR sequel since Toy Story 3, which I still consider to be better. Toy Story 3 is one of those perfect movies for me, but Toy Story 4 is absolutely amazing and surprising. I am so happy to say that. Expand

Every film brings on the most heartwarming moments to memory, as it's usual to Pixar. Sadly, Toy Story 4 is easily the worst film ever made by Pixar, as it brings such a heartbraking ending and instead of the fantastic and joyful feeling that surrounds every teardrop that usually falls while watching Toy Story 1, 2 and specially 3, its is now filled with a sad, gloomy feeling that makes me feel grief everytime I watch it. I felt it like an enormous disrespect to the characters, specially. The animation is top notch. The writing is fluid. But while Toy Story 1 to 3 hold a very special place in one's heart, Toy Story 4 feels more like a wound that demands you to grow, overcome pain and deal with sad truths. It is still an important animation, nevertheless; but the way it was made can hurt people who grew up with that fantasy so much that the score has to go very low.

A animação é a melhor possível.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toy Story is a good film if a bit unnecessary, but this film doesn’t fell like a waste of time. My favorite part is Woody’s story and how he deals with his new owner Bonnie and realizing that he’s not the “favorite” toy anymore and weather or not he needs Bonnie in-order to be happy, it's also really nice to see Bo Peep back after 20 years of absents. The other great thing is the animation some of pixars best work yet in my opinion. My only complaint would be that the rest of the gang gets side line for new characters; however that doesn’t mean that the new characters are awful their fun if a bit simple, but it's not really the same. A lot of people did not like this movie and said that this ruined the other films but that’s kind of a dumb thing to say as I don't really see this as a conclusion or a continuation of the story but simply a story that the team at pixar wanted to tell, but I agree that the film did not deserve an oscar or that its the best film that pixar has made. Really its up to you on weather you'll like the movie or not, no one is making you watch this movie, but I think it's a movie that has heart in all the right places, but seems a bit tired. Expand

Also, dont get me wrong the animation for this movie is brilliant and the original cast do an amazing job and even some of the new characters do pretty well for what they're given but this movie was not needed because Toy story 3 had a better ending which worked quite well and whilst this ending doesn't work as well as the previous one did. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toy Story 4 wasn't exactly the best movie and coming from someone who grew up along side the movies, went to Disneyland three times for the sole purpose of going to the toy story part of the park, collected ALL the original toys and collectables and merchandise and basically talked about this movie and watched it 5 times (each). This movie imo wasn't necessary. The third movie already had such a beautiful and tear dropping ending so why this movie? Oh yeah, its Disney. Disney used this franchise to make a profit. This movie sees Woody be treated like absolute garbage, he is made to look like a fool and a waste of Tom hanks. Buzz is completely useless and doesn't even get that much screen time along with the whole other group of toys. Some of the new characters like Forky are very cheesy and bland. My main complaint with this movie is how the girl-doll toy (forgot her name) basically tried to kidnap woody and take his voice box, you would think Woody would fight back but no! Instead, Woody goes ahead and gives his iconic voice box away just like that, this teaching the little kids you can get anything without trying! However, this movie did have its moments, like the introduction of Duke Caboom who was the best new character, but when Woody just left Buzz and the rest of the group like that it seemed very not-well written. The animation was the main highlight of the movie. Anyway, thank you Disney for absolutely nothing and almost ruining such a beloved franchise with lackluster writing and boring storylines. Expand

Now after buying the Blu-Ray and watching it a couple more times and the fact that it won the Oscar (which didn't deserve), I decided to make a re-review and lower the score by one point.

Toy Story 4 isn't Pixar at its best but I still think it's pretty good. It ended up having a purpose to the franchise and giving it a (hopefully) definitive closure this time. I know that this movie has divided fans, specially the way it ended, but personally I still think that it felt like a movie with love and effort put into it and not just a cashgrab, despite now not being as good as I thought it was the first time I watched it.

It still feels like a Toy Story movie: It has a well written story with mature underlying themes that were presented in an excellent way. It does feel like a movie that explores the themes of finding a purpose in life and running away from toxic environments if we can't do anything to improve them. I personally think that the way the story was executed is still better than Toy Story 3 because that one had ridiculous plot conveniences and really bad jokes, despite the ending still being a lot more emotional than this one.
The score is just as excellent as in the previous movies. The returning characters and new characters are compelling and fun to watch, despite how annoying Ducky and Bunny can get at times. However, I have mixed feelings about the character development: Most of the returning cast have nothing to do and they barely have any plot relevance, but the characters the movie decides to focus on are well developed. In my previous review I stated that the new characters are memorable and have a good development but now I don't think that, because Duke Kaboom is just Keanu Reeves in a Toy Story movie (while fun to watch, he doesn't really have too much to do) and Ducky and Bunny, like I said, can get pretty unfunny and at times they kill the tone of the movie, but none of the characters are bad or annoying enough to make the movie unwatchable, that includes Bo Peep, who I don't think it was a bad character like many say, she was just fine.

It has a lot of energy, the pacing is fluid and the movie never gets boring, but because the stakes aren't as high as the previous movies, it feels like it lacks a genuine sense of danger or urgency. I mean, it does, but not as much, but I was still invested the whole movie because of the motivations of the main characters. Sure, it feels a lot more smaller scale than the previous movies because it only takes place in a couple of locations, but I think I'm okay with watching a good story set in those few places. Overall, I like this movie, despite now thinking that it isn't as good as the first time I watched it. It's a really good movie, much better than other Pixar sequels/prequels like Finding Dory, Incredibles 2 or Monsters University, but it's obvious that it's an unnecessary (yet not pointless) film.

And while it is good, it didn't deserve the Oscar. Many people say that Klaus should've won and I kinda agree. My favorite movie out of the nominees was I Lost My Body but Klaus was such a groundbreaking film, at least in the visual aspect...But no, let's give it to Pixar despite not deserving it.

9/10, if I happen to lower the score once more, I'll have to do that for Toy Story 3 (which I gave it a 9/10) too, because, like I said, I like this one just a little bit more than that one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A decent enough movie, but not in the same league as the previous three. This movie felt somewhat superfluous. Firstly, the plot is all over the place. It starts off with the introduction of a new character, Forky. Just when you think the film's going to be about him he becomes a side issue and it's all about the evil doll who wants to steal Woody's voice box. But she isn't a compelling villain like the bear in the third film as she turns good towards the end. Bo Peep is supposedly Woody's big love interest but I don't remember her from the other films. Buzz and the girl cowboy are barely in it, despite being the main characters of the previous films. So it's confusing and all over the place. Then we're all meant to feel great about Woody gaining his "freedom" and going off with Bo Peep, but this means leaving all the other toys and, most importantly, the young child he's meant to be looking after. I wasn't really sure what message they were trying to convey here. It would have been better if they hadn't made this film, imho. They would have been better off starting off with a bunch of new toys. Expand

Putting aside the good animation, and the ok voice-acting, Toy Story 4 is one of the absolute worst animated movies I've ever seen.

The plot makes a giant lap and, in the end, comes all the way back to where it started, with a very predictable, and non-emotional ending.

Woody is treated as nothing, and it doesn't create an interesting character arc, in fact, none of the characters have an interesting arc.

This was a complete waste of my time and Pixar's money since it was an unnecessary and awful sequel to this franchise everyone loves.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toy Story 4 gets an A+ from me. The animation was spectacular and gorgeous. The leading voice over performances were phenomenal especially from Tony Hale, Annie Potts, Keegan-Michael Key, Keanu Reeves, Tom Hanks, Christina Hendricks, Jordan Peele, Ally Maki, Madeleine McGraw, and Tim Allen. The supporting voice over performances were terrific especially from Jeff Garlin, Bonnie Hunt, Kristen Schaal, Joan Cusack, Lori Alan, June Squibb, Jay Hernandez, Betty White, Timothy Dalton, and Carol Burnett. I loved all of the new characters especially Forky, Ducky and Bunny, Gabby Gabby, and Duke Caboom. The story was excellently well written. The movie was really funny and super cute. The movie was also really emotional and I even got teary-Eyed. The soundtrack and score were also stupendous and I especially loved the songs The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy and I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away. The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy is my favorite Toy Story song. Toy Story 4 is my favorite Toy Story movie, my favorite animated movie of 2019, one of my top 5 favorite movies of 2019, my 3rd favorite Pixar movie, one of my top 10 favorite animated movies of all time, and one of my favorite movies of all time.

The film's themes of farther-hood and letting go of the past make the film more relevant and heartfelt as intriguing you watch it. Characters such as Woody and Bo Peep have never been better and new characters like Duke Kaboom and Forky are some of the best side characters the series have ever had. My only flaw with the film is that a vast array of characters really have any time in the spotlight and are pushed aside to make way for other characters and plotlines. +Interesting story concept

-Felt decidedly 'below average' as a final outing for a pixar franchise

I'm unsure I know what I would want from a 4th Toy Story movie - watching this challenged my perceptions of woody and the gang in ways I didnt expect. Most of the side characters are 'back in the van' for most of this road trip movie so we are spending most of the time with the 'anxiety stricken
mid life crisis woody', an 'uncharacteristically overpowered ninja skilled action ready bo peep' and new characters mentally unwell forky and sociopath gabby gabby... Perhaps i'm jaded from all the years of high quality cgi animated movies but I just wasn't as emotionally connected as I felt I was in previous outings, and so things moved along averagely which for a final toy story could be seen as disappointing? I was entertained but not enthralled as one would hope to be. Everything looks....eerily photo real at this level of quality CGI so thats a thing now! Part of me wished they had left the franchise alone and produced something new instead. Definitely worth a look for pixar fans though.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Toy story still has some ability to pull the corners of my lips into an involuntary grin.

Keanu Reeves is having his moment in the sun. Again. Wife leaned over to me in the midst of the deluge of Canada puns and said, “Sometimes representation is not pretty.” I will spare you the joke about finally seeing my own kind represented by Forky. In the meantime, worth saying that Key and Peele have quite a few jokes and maybe my favorite gag of the night, which made the six or seven other people at the movie at 4pm on a Tuesday laugh out loud as it played out.

Bo Peep and Woody’s chemistry on screen is palpable, so much so that it’s hard to gauge why Tim Allen assented to play second banana to Tom Hanks in this sequel. It feels, a Friend told me last night before Friend and Wife went today, like the Gang’s role has been greatly diminished in this iteration. He also said that after having watched this film, he was curious to see if TS 1 and 2 were available on demand and he ended up seeing all three preceding films in order for the rest of the night.

Generally, I’m happy with the plot structure (though Friend said that it leaned a little hard on the Lost Toy Rescue trope before resolving in an unusual way), and I like what’s been done with Bo Peep’s character arc, her challenge to the role of the toy. One of my favorite reviewers on Slate, Inkoo Kang has an article about how Bo Peep “escapes the curse of the feminized sequel”–worth reading. And officially too many people are thinking about the implications that Forky has on the sentience of toys more broadly.

One glaring plot point that Wife also picked up on is that the villain of this film seems to be given a free pass after all of the kidnapping and organ thieving she does to accomplish her selfish goals.

Totalmente recomendada! 8,5/10 Expand

While greatly animated no doubt, there are moments where this film looks absolutely stunning. But in terms of the narrative Toy Story 4 just isn't all that interesting. Woody has an interesting character arc, but I don't buy that Bo Peep is the one to show him this arc, or that he would come to it for the reasons he does in the movie with his new owner. Forky feels like he's there mostly for comedic purposes than anything else. Which is fine, but he plays too much a big part in the story for him not to feel more impactful. Buzz Lightyear is completely wasted in this movie, the jokes with him seem like something he'd go through in a much earlier film, or heck in the first film. The veterans of the series are completely pointless, I don't see why they didn't make Bo Peep the main character and maybe leave the characters from Toy Story 3 where they were at the end of that film. It's perfectly fine movie for kids overall, but I think the older audiences who grew up with the previous films much leave wanting a bit more. Expand

Super Entretido!

However toy story 4 not only exceeded my expectations, but it was also better than the previous movie! The Animation is simply outstanding, the opening 10 minutes are beautiful. The storyline is both fun, emotional and even creepy? I was most surprised by ducky and bunny, the 2 new characters that were shown off through out the trailer, i thought these characters were going to be your generic pop-culture comedians, but instead they were the stand outs of the film. Their comedy and timings were hilarious at times, and outside of woody and buzz, were my favourite characters. Forky was also less annoying than id assumed going into the movie, i like his mindset of believing he is trash (maybe a reference to how all those kids who grew up with the first 3 films feel about themselves now) and the scenes of him trying to escape actually made me laugh. Most of the returning cast dont get much of a time to shine, but the new characters and the fantastic story line more than make up for it. 9/10 - the best one since Toy story 2. Expand

As ever, the animation is amazing by Pixar. And I think they did reflections a little bit better this time around. The lighting effects are just superb. The new characters were funny and charming. I give it a solid 88%. A pleasant surprise. Expand

It is good but it is no Toy Story 1, 2, or 3. I don't think it is in the same league.

Every inch the worthy successor to a stunning trilogy, it reshapes the overarching narrative of the series with heart, humour and a delicately joyful finesse.

It is a good movie that features entertaining and fun scenes incorporating new characters, providing a message to the public and closing one of the best sagas that Pixar has created!

PROS: compelling and funny characters, including one literally made out of garbage, that convey important messages; great music; superior animation and visuals; adventurous, thrilling, nostalgic and upbeat story with a big heart.
CONS: a bit

Toy Story 3 ended the story perfectly, what more could be done with it? Not to mention that it’s a Pixar sequel made in the 2010s, which don’t exactly have a great reputation. Toy Story 3 was great, Cars 2 was bad, Monsters University was okay, Finding Dory was good but forgettable (no pun intended), Cars 3 was okay and Incredibles 2 was a lot of fun but not as memorable as the first movie. It didn’t help that none of the Toy Story 4 trailers impressed me. I walked into this movie cautiously optimistic. I hoped it would be at least as good as Incredibles 2 but I was ready for the possibility of a disappointment. However, after seeing the movie, I can confidently say that they did it again. They made another great Toy Story movie. It has an engaging and emotional story, a lovable and memorable cast of characters, interesting themes and ideas, the most beautiful animation that Pixar has put to screen yet, pitch-perfect voice acting, and really great action and comedy! While Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending, I think Toy Story 4 is a great epilogue. This is probably where the story would go next, whether you like it or not. I do have some criticisms though. Some of the writing and comedic timing felt surprisingly clunky and off a couple of times and the ending does feel a little rushed. The ending of Toy Story 3 was definitely a better finale to the series as a whole, it was more epic and larger in scale, but this is more of a finale to the arcs of the main characters. I can’t think of a more fitting way to end both this story and the 2010s decade of Pixar movies. It came in with a Toy Story movie and it went out with a Toy Story movie, and it looks like this is the last Pixar sequel we’re going to see for a long time. It’s been confirmed that there are no sequels coming out for the foreseeable future and they will be putting their focus on original films only. That sounds good to me! Overall, this is a must-see for any fan of the Toy Story movies. It just might be another instant classic. Highly recommended. Expand
