Toy Story 3 is a pull-at-your heartstrings beautiful film about growing up and moving on, no really. The tone is sometimes dark, sometimes sad, but it's a wonderful journey.

I first saw this before I had children and thought it was great. I recently watched it again with my 3 year old daughter and I think the ending is one of the most beautiful endings of any movie that I have ever seen, I was in tears.

What a great way to close the book (although now we know the crew is returning for a 4th film). Toy Story 3 introduced the loveable characters to a new generation of children and all the children who watched the original as children when it came out had to see how story would end, you can't say that about most animated movie franchises. Toy Story 3 also has the most dramatic endings in the history of film not just animated movies and its just as great throughout as the other two films and Toy Story may really be the best trilogy of all time, it belongs up there with the original Star Wars trilogy and the Dark Knight films. CGI isIn 1995, Pixar released the world's first full-length CGI animation film, Toy Story. Audiences were amazed, not only by the introduction of CGI animation, but also by Toy Story's heartwarming characters and innovative storytelling. CGI is ubiquitous nowadays, largely due to Toy Story's success.

After nearly 15 years since the last installment, Pixar resurrects Woody and Buzz to create a masterful, heartwarming conclusion that is bound to resonate amongst audiences of all ages. Over the past 20 years, Andy has aged with us, and he is now preparing to leave for college. The toys encounter misfortune and are separated from Andy yet again.

The film successfully maintains the franchise's outstanding humor and voice acting. Toy Story 3's visual exhibit the best artistic design and technical excellence in the business. Randy Newman provides a memorable score along with a special Gipsy Kings song. Toy Story 3 investigates our attachment to toys, the challenge of becoming an adult, and our relationship with future generations.

Toy Story 3 is the perfect farewell to Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. It sends a beautiful, heartwarming messages to audiences while helping many relive their childhoods. It has been a wonderful to grow up with this beloved franchise. Toy Story has taken the art of storytelling to infinity and beyond!

The greatest animated sequel ever made!

Pixar's next big thing a faithful new sequel to the Toy Story was a lot better than expected, though more darker and epic in drama and suspense it was a great honor to get a chance at seeing this in theaters.

Better in improved animation, Pixar those another great story of Woody, Buzz and the gang get left behind at a Child Day-Care when Andy has already grown up and the only thing on his mind now being College. however still determined to return Woody will embark on a journey that will change his and his friends as well as Andy's friendships forever, as they overcome great obstacles in a toy's life.

Powerful in detail and possessing elements that weren't in the previous two, the film is instantly a certified classic not to be missed! a thumbs up for Pixar!!

Bravo! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If Toy Story 3 doesn't make you emotional, I don't know what will. Filled to the brim with nostalgia and references from the previous movies in the franchise, it probably couldn't have been any better than it was. We start out knowing the toys haven't been played with in a while and they miss it. They even go to the trouble of creating an elaborate plan just to get Andy to notice them for one minute. Their plan hardly works, but then Andy needs to pack for college. Has to decide who stays and who goes. Woody is to go to college with him and the rest are to live in the attic, but instead they accidentally go on an adventure none of them will soon forget.

Andy is leaving for college, so naturally there will be emotion surrounding his family and leaving, but with everything he's leaving behind as well. We can even feel the emotion in the toys. Their owner is leaving them because he's all grown up now and doesn't need them anymore, much like his own family. Throughout the toys' journey, they end up at Sunnyside daycare. It seems a friendly and inviting place at first, but inside it's like a dystopia. I can't help but think this is modeled off of some human society, but portrayed with a social hierarchy in toys instead. This movie doesn't lack on the comedy either. Ken and Barbie feel like they were "made for each other." Guess they never would have guessed that they actually were.

One of the most significant parts of the movie to me was the soundtrack. It varied immensely for each scene and really did add so much. It evoked the feeling of horror in the times spent in the caterpillar room, and happiness when in the butterfly room. Very skillfully put together and every artistic aspect was nearly perfect. Lotso is also truly an amazing villain. He has a haunting backstory that is eventually revealed, has to personas that he shows off to people depending on the time of day, and he ends the story as still a villain by betraying his friends but really gets what was coming to him by getting attached to that truck.
Of course all the toys get back safe. This is what everyone wants and is rooting for. But the hard part of the movie is far from over. We see Andy leaving his mother "I wish I could always be with you." "You will be, mom." and his family, as well as his toys. He has to make the difficult decision to let them go because he's moving on as well. When Andy gives his toys away to Bonnie, it's like he's giving us away as well. I grew up with Toy story on VHS at my grandma's house. I grew up with these toys. Like they were my own toys. I'm the same age as Andy is right now, the same time in my life. Although this is probably my 3rd time watching it, I still feel the same way about this bittersweet ending. It's truly beautiful and leaves the toys and Andy both in a great place in their relationship and story that no continuation could ever make it better. An ending that lets us leave the characters on the screen as Andy leaves his toys. Probably the best sequel I have ever seen. Also still love the Totoro cameo by John Lassetter for his boy Hayao Miyazaki.

This is the best Pixar Movie since 2003. True, Pixar's movies have all been excellent in quality, none of them quite matched up to the Toy Story movies or Nemo. But this movie does!

This movie makes you laugh and cry at the same time, and, when the toys are in danger, you're actually on the edge of your seat waiting for the outcome of the situation, even though you know they won't die (after all, it's Pixar!).

This definitely deserved best animated picture, and it is a must see not just for Toy Story fans, not just for Pixar fans, but for regular cinema-goers also!

TS3 is one of those movies that's guaranteed to reduce you to a crying mess by the end, without being overly sentimental. It's a great way to close the Woody-Andy story. Now that Toy Story 4 will resolve the Woody and Bo Peep story, the question remains-can they do the impossible and make the fourth as good as the first three? If it is, you can guarantee I'll be seeing it. An amazing movie, I'm so glad we're getting one more movie in this astounding franchise. Expand

..A Perfect Tale of Adventure and Devotion
Since I felt none of the other reviews here do the movie justice, I became compelled to write my own. It is the most inspired film I have ever encountered.

The creators of Toy Story 3 have an imagination that is unparalleled. I cannot begin to compare any of the other animated movies that I have ever seen to it. It is a fantasy in an unconventional sense: aside from the talking toys, the environment and settings are typical; commonplace. Yet, the Pixar Team manages to cram every last drop of energy into the incredibly clever story and inventive plot devices out of just common household objects. The animation is so brilliant that it captures shading, lighting, and textures that have yet to be seen on film.

Then, Toy Story 3 becomes a beautiful elaboration on the first two, with very clever character development. Its maturity of relationships is concise but witty: Woody, the wise sheriff, leading the other toys with courage and finesse; a spaceman winning the love of a cowgirl; the loyalty of the dog, slinky; the grumpy married potato and his devoted wife; the superficial relationship of Ken and Barbie; the broken spirit of a lost teddy bear. At the same time, Pixar uses a metaphor that is so strong that it drives the audience to love these characters with all of their hearts. It is a similar emotional complex to a happy puppy who is brought into a home and has nothing on its mind but playing with its youthful owners. But these toys never age, and as its owners, once in their playful youths, leave for work and college, these toys still know nothing more than their youth and happiness of living to one day play again. As you leave for work every morning, your dog doesn't know where you go. And every day, he does nothing more than pray that you come back to see him, every day waiting for you to bring out the ball again for a game of fetch.

Finally comes Pixar's ability to integrate so many emotions - fear, love, action, and comedy, among others - with each having so much vigor in its own right, that the movie becomes a roller coaster of animation and adventure, wound together by the constant movement of setting and storyline, always keeping the audience guessing on what might happen next. It is a brilliant tale; a perfect movie for children and adults alike. I cannot wait to see it again.

While I still prefer Toy Story 2 over this film, the 3rd movie of this imaginative series is spectacular. From the ending, to the characters, to the creative setting and how they work with it, its a blast till the end.

There are so many movies that can't get me Those guys at Pixar know how to tell a story! These characters will live in our hearts forever! They really know how to tug at our hearts. This is more ramblings about the movie then a review. There are so many movies that can't get me emotionally involved, movies in which I don't care at all about the people whom I'm supposed to be rooting for. But Pixar knows how to get me. And it's not just a rooting interest, it's a love for characters, a love that hurts. I know I'm not the only one who's fallen in love in Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Up and most of all in the Toy Story movies. It's been so long since the first one that the special effects don't distract me in awe of them. The first two movies were so good that the story kept you from being distracted, but I couldn't help but stop and look at how beautiful the animation was. But now that I'm used to it, I was able to just watch the movie. The first half of the movie wasn't that great. It seemed like rehashed themes from the first two, but the second half of that movie made up for it and much more. The key to the puzzle of this movie, for me, as a father, was that moment when the mother sees Andy's room empty and realizes that her baby has grown up and he's moving away. That moment captured that whole movie's spirit. It was time to let go and say goodbye. Thank you Pixar. I watched 'The Pixar Story' on the Disney Channel this week and after watching Toy Story 3 it makes me so grateful for them. They tell great stories, they make great movies. Please forgive my spelling and grammar. I am a product of the Miami-Dade Public School System. Expand

Without Ken, Barbie is just Barbie. But now that the skinny doll has been joined by her metrosexual soulmate, the Mattel toys can't help but evoke Richard and Karen Carpenter in Todd Haynes' "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story", Without Ken, Barbie is just Barbie. But now that the skinny doll has been joined by her metrosexual soulmate, the Mattel toys can't help but evoke Richard and Karen Carpenter in Todd Haynes' "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story", the legendary underground film which tells the tragic story about the beloved seventies-era vocalist's losing fight with anorexia nervosa. In this 1987 Douglas Sirk-like "Toy Story", the then twenty-six-year-old Brown graduate had rendered the self-afflicting disease by doctoring Barbie dolls to signify Karen's incremental weight loss; her disintergration, by whittling away the plastic arms and legs. Not surprisingly, the filmmaker angered the toy manufacturer, as well as the surviving Carpenter, who will never give Haynes the music clearance for the duo's catalogue that was used on the film's soundtrack without authorization, which would result in a public exhibition and ensuing DVD release of this rumored-to-be-masterpiece. In the cult novel "Fuel-Injected Dreams" by James Robert Baker, the narrator, a radio industry guy, revels in popular love songs that carries an undertone of death beneath the influx of serotonin(i.e. Diana Ross & the Supremes "Someday We'll Be Together") on the tune's surface. In "Toy Story 3", "Take my Breath Away"(used in the movie's trailer), the Berlin song that accompanies Ken and Barbie's instantaneous love connection, not only carries a title with murderous connotations, but the band's name itself evokes muscle atrophy and bone loss; weight loss due to starvation. Ken, despite being shirtless in one scene, nevertheless comes off as an asexual being, by default, actually, since he's not anatomically correct, which makes Ken and Barbie more like brother and sister, than lovers. So where is Ken's penis? It's dislocated, materializing itself as Mr. Potato Head, especailly when the talking spud slips his "skin" and ends up as a cucumber(an obvious phallic symbol; the filmmaker alludes to the King Missle minor hit "Detachable Penis"). Throughout the course of "Toy Story 3", Mr. Potato Head changes form(just like the Barbie doll in the Haynes film), reconstructing himself first as a tortilla(in which a bird tries to eat him: code for "eat like a bird", which is how anorexics approach their meals), then as a cucumber, a vegetable that's considerably skinnier than its original potato shape. In "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story", the filmmaker suggests that Richard was partly responsible for her sister's death, so the many phases which the MALE potato undergoes, can be construed as an atonement, as if the pianist is walking in his dead sister's shoes. After all, who built Ken's Dream House? A carpenter. Karen. Expand

The second movie reminded me great moments of the first one and I enjoyed their new adventures they had, now in the streets and how important it is to work as a team.
I must say that the third part was a great job and a definitive victory to Pixar, the graphics and the script were very interesting, and they showed us why is Woody the leader of the other toys.

But no film can have a full 10 (I'd love to, but I must be honest), this time we were introduced to an uncommon villain, unlike the 2nd part, this pink Bear was the classic foe wrapped with other movies cliche, where the protagonists must engage in a new "world" and defeat the bad toys. Could have been better.
Overall, they rescued the good humor, nostalgia and virtues on each character. This time, Woody was the action toy, unlike the first two movies in that Buzz Light Yogurt takes all.

It has never been the quality or the writing; it just has to do mostly with the subject matter or the overly cartoony look of it all. It just doesn't appeal to me. Toy Story was an excellent movie, while 2 could be considered a bit less accomplished, and usually it just gets worse from there. Luckily the people at Pixar have a high stamp of quality in pretty much all their products, and not just from a visual point of view. Toy Story 3 is an amazing movie that takes you back to a time when everything was new and you could swear that your toys were alive. The movie could have been anything but good. It could have been an easy cash grab for Pixar; they could have done it for the money. Instead they decided to end (?) their series in rare form these days: on an incredibly high note. The story tackles some very serious issues in regards to growing up and moving on with life, and gave me many flashbacks of how I felt as a child. It's a very special thing to find something that moves you like this, much less from a bunch of animated polygons, but Toy Story 3 (and pretty much all the Pixar movies) are some of the very best at conveying the emotion needed to portray their characters as real beings with complex emotions and motivations. The voice acting, with Hanks, Allen, and the rest of the cast (most of them) return as if no time has passed, sliding into their roles effortlessly. It's a very satisfying thing after all this time to hear Woody's voice again; I didn't realize just how much I had missed it. I don't think there was much that I didn't like about this one, although some children may have some issues with the darker parts of the movie, which I actually applaud Pixar for delving into, it's nothing a nice parent to child dialogue can't work out. All in all this is a great way to end a series (if it is at an end, and I hope this is the case), as a class act like this can teach other potentials just how the final movie should be. Expand

It's the word that comes to mind, not just for the movie itself, but for the brilliant work Disney did in taking an already immediate classic, collecting its treasures, and then expanding upon them in ways unimaginable in a launching of their third film: "Toy Story 3." The plot feels fresh and keen, usually uncharacteristic of a continuation. There are no signs of unfunny, moronic, paltry humor and adages but rather laughs brought on by the conduction of its characters. The way the film conveys human emotion is done so fluently that you can't help but draw a tear when the characters do. Many times in modern animated cinema, characters seem aloof and disconnected from the live voice they are given. This is what sets "Toy Story 3" apart from those doll-faced, skin-deep wastes of filmic expression. The depth of each character is such a marvel to watch, that if too consumed, the viewer can neglect such extraordinarily fine and often surreptitious detail displayed in the same scene. The "movie of all ages" feature is also topnotch as the kids can comprehend the outward action as the adults can take in the deep, subliminal thematic situations and humor. After viewing "Toy Story 3" you come to the realization that life, like a playroom, is a place where we interact, learn, fail, succeed, are sad, happy, and then are used up. Like Woody, Buzz, and the gang, we all fear the day where we will be replaced or "thrown in the trash bag." This is just one of the many conceptual and mundane themes that people relate to from "Toy Story 3," Absolute treat for anyone! 5/5 stars. Expand

Yes, the story line seems a little unimaginative when compared to Toy Story 1 & 2. The new toys they did introduce didn't have the character development that made us either like or hate them. Nevertheless, this movie had the one quality that mattered to the viewers: it touched on the nostalgia of our childhood memories. The ending that everyone is alluding to is the perfect example of this. The best part is the older viewer never saw it coming. We are suddenly rerouted down this emotional path causing us to reflect on the changes we make as we move beyond our childhood years. It is a bittersweet reflection and one that requires a 230 pound father of a little girl to choke up and clear the dust that is tearing in his eye. Pixar is an incredibly talented production company and this movie is another great example of this. Expand

Toy Story 3 continues talking about what Toy Story 2 started talking about, the meaning of a toys life. When Andy grows up the toys go to a daycare, which is kind of like an orphanage to humans, it's where toys go who no longer have owners. When they get to daycare it's more like a prison, they even have a "box" just like a prison. Again like Toy Story 2 there was not enough of Woody and Buzz together. I would love to see an adventure with the buddies together by each others side. The ending was wonderful when it showed the picture of Andy and his toys, it was very touching. When Andy pulls Woody away from Bonnie, he shows the toys he loves them but cant give them the attention they need. More sexual references add to the fun, especially the scene with Rex and Trixie on the computer. Great movie, I hope to see more of Woody and the gang. Expand

Marvelously animated, Toy Story 3 brilliantly channels what made the originals so great, while adding in enough new experiences, both toy-wise and life-wise, to make the film just as fresh and relevant as ever. Fantastically craftingMarvelously animated, Toy Story 3 brilliantly channels what made the originals so great, while adding in enough new experiences, both toy-wise and life-wise, to make the film just as fresh and relevant as ever. Fantastically crafting excitement, new characters, and emotion, Toy Story 3 is a joyous experience that matches the quality of the originals and brilliantly grew up with its audience. Not only is the animation wonderful, but so is the writing, direction, and voice acting, all of which perfectly characterize its characters and entertain the audience at the same time. Overall, Toy Story 3 is fantastic film that exemplifies all that makes Pixar great. Expand

The only real flaw for this movie... Hmmm, are there not any flaws? Nope! This movie is a classic in my book. Marvelous, magical, and endearing...almost flawless!

A great revival of the previous films that perhaps even surpasses it's predecessors.
