Pretty much completes your childhood if you watched both Toy Stories. The darkest and saddest of the Toy Stories. Heart-wrenching yet exciting and exhilarating.

I myself am 17 years old, in a similar situation as Andy - getting ready to move on to college. I grew up with the series so I can say that I have grown very attached to all of the characters that return in Toy Story 3. To keep this short, I'll just say that I can't recommend this movie enough to everyone (especially teens who grew up with the series) and the ending was a tear jerker if I've ever seen one before. Outstanding, Pixar. Expand

Why yes, it really is that good.

Animation, voice acting, story, characters, pacing, emotion, 3D- yup, all perfect. By the end of the movie, you WILL care about every character in the movie. Someone in your movie-viewing group will probably cry at some point. So if you STILL haven't seen this masterpiece of animation, you really should while it's still in theaters. The only negative is that it might not make you chuckle as much as the previous installment, but that's not really what this movie is about. I hate to parrot EVERYONE IN THE WORLD, but this movie deserves its acclaim.

The sequel proved that number 2 can as magical and entertaining as the first one while staying true to what made it so great unlike other film franchises. Toy Story 3 is as great as the first two and proves that a third entry could work as well. Whats makes Toy Story 3 so great is the film itself. While watching it, not for one second did the thought of it being bad ever occured to me. While at the same time it grabed my full attention unlike any other film I had ever seen. I had a blast watching as it knows when to blend the right sense of humor in excellent timing and when to go dramatic to appropriately add a good sense of emotion for each character. It`s cast of voice actors are believable and goes perfectly into every character. Even I though didn`t see it in 3-D, from what I heard is that the audiences had a blast. So go out and see this masterpiece that will take you to your inner childhood where the imagination and joy should put a smile on anyone watching it. Expand

Toy Story 3 follows the tradition of Up and Ratatoullie, in which an animated film is capable of tugging at the audience's emotions with its unbelievably imaginative stories. Toy Story 3 delivers with its original voice cast and the characters children growing up in the 90s have grown to love. Even though the 3D animated genre has been used to almost near death, Toy Story 3 strays away from the mediocrity because it creates an experience that does not solely isolate the entertainment of young children. The significant flaw that comes to mind with the film is that it does not feel as fresh as its predecessors. Yes, I do acknowledge it is a sequel, but it feels as if we have already been exposed to this world many times before. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We've been waiting over 10 years for this film, and you know what? It was worth it Toy Story 3 delivers a heartwrenching, warm, lovely tale that only Pixar can excel in. This time around, Andy's off to college and he's done playing with his toys. After an accident, the toys get donated to Sunnyside Day Care centre, which turns out to be anything but sunny. (its always the misleading, lovely sounding names) We get loads of new characters, Peas in a Pod, Ken and my favourite, Mr Pricklypants. They all blend perfectly into the story, and we get the villian of the piece: Lotso Huggins bear. He isn't a generic villian, you see his plight through flashback, and genuinly feel sorry for the villian. We've also lost a number of characters. Woodys girlfriend, Bo Peep, Wheezy and the lovable RC. Its sad to not see them, but thank heavens we still have the likes of Ham, Mr Potato head and the lovely aliens. Theres a lot of wonderful moments, like the opening play scene with evil Dr Porkchop, and the ending scene as the toys are in their new home with new friends. Theres also a sweet moment, as the toys are about to be burnt, and just accept it, holding hands. But another wonderful moment occurs, as the aliens save the toys with "The Claw" The thing with Toy Story 3 is you've been with these characters since the beginning, since the first Toy Story. We've loved them through their adventures against evil neighbour Sid and villianous Prospector. We've seen them play happily with Andy as he grew up, and now that he's grown up, you really feel for these characters as Andy no longer plays with them like the old days. All in all, Pixar have achieved the impossible: a trilogy in which the quality never dips beyond amazing. And a perfect way to make grown men cry Expand

And it absolutely does. Toy Story 3 follows the 11 year absent of the two previous films and off the Andy going to college. The toys including Woody and Buzz Lightyear are being donated to a daycare center. The toys were ecstatic about it until they found out that the kids there are disgusting and there is a huge evil bear with a one-eyed baby doll guarding them. Adding adventure to the already interesting plot, Woody and the gang decided to humorously escape the center with great style. Director Lee Unkrich, who is not new at all to the Pixar directing department, he's been responsible for Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., and co-director of Toy Story 2. So picking him for the job is not a bad idea. He brought something completely new to the table and turned the story around with twists and thrills. Lee Unkrich had done a decent job of directing this beloved film which had both adults and kids crying their hearts out. From the beginning where Andy's home videos are being played to the end where Andy was saying his final good-byes to the toys, Toy Story 3 is a must-see for all ages and it touched all of our hearts one way or the other. Pixar hasn't let me down yet on staying true to what matter most, the story. And somehow Pixar keeps raising the bar on 3D animation making it seem like they are untouchable. "Toy Story 3's" visuals and animation put the first "Toy Story" to shame. It is like comparing VHS to Blu-Ray.

This is so far the only sequel that is as good as the original. -- I told myself repeatedly upon seeing the previews that this wasn't going to be a very good film, that it was mainly an attempt to make more money off what was a wonderful original, with some rather crude child-humour (judging by the commercials). I agreed to go see it anyway, for whatever reason, and by the end of it, I was crying. It was a wonderful ending to an awesome series of films. -- There was nothing super-epic that changed my paradigm or anything, but certainly enough to live up to the other two. The balance of humour and emotion come together to make a fantastic end to a fantastic trilogy, and I'm crying as it waves goodbye to us. The characters are witty and well played, especially the take on a pink bear being a "mafia" leader while at the same time his backstory making you feel sorry for him despite all his evils. And they even managed to put in TWO love stories while not making it seem overly soppy, even making them very funny at times. In short, WATCH. THIS. MOVIE. ...why are you still reading this? Yes, the story line seems a little unimaginative when compared to Toy Story 1 & 2. The new toys they did introduce didn't have the character development that made us either like or hate them. Nevertheless, this movie had the one quality that mattered to the viewers: it touched on the nostalgia of our childhood memories. The ending that everyone is alluding to is the perfect example of this. The best part is the older viewer never saw it coming. We are suddenly rerouted down this emotional path causing us to reflect on the changes we make as we move beyond our childhood years. It is a bittersweet reflection and one that requires a 230 pound father of a little girl to choke up and clear the dust that is tearing in his eye. Pixar is an incredibly talented production company and this movie is another great example of this. Expand

I pretty much grew up on Disney movies,The absolute best animation I have ever seen. How fitting, considering Toy Story was the pioneer of digital animation. I was four when the first Toy Story came out, and eight when the second one did. I pretty much grew up on Disney movies, Toy Story and Lion King being the two I watched most. Probably a few hundred times between the two of them (no exaggeration). I literally grew up with Woody, Buzz and the gang. Coincidentally, I started my first year of college last year, so Andy and I share a connection that is very personal to me. The people over at Pixar have done what has only happened a few times in history. Let's hope they take home the Oscar for Best Picture like the Lord of the Rings did, although I wouldn't get my hopes up. Those Academy douche bags... But back to Pixar. They created a damn near perfect trilogy. I loved this movie. This may be blasphemy to some of you, but I have to admit that Shrek 2 still holds the crown as my all time favorite animated film. After that is How To Train Your Dragon, then probably Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 2 tied at third. Ratatouille is tied with Monster's Inc. for a very close fourth. As you can see, Pixar dominates my list, that does go on, by the way. Anyway, I think this was a perfect way to close the trilogy. The last fifteen minutes or so were very heartfelt and touching. I was on the verge of tears. When Woody said goodbye to Andy in the closing moments, I felt as if he was talking directly to me. The movie is altogether excellent. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous that it wouldn't impress me as much as everyone said it would. After reading over a dozen reviews with perfect scores, I had expectations that almost always lead to disappoint. I'm happy to say I was not. Not even close. The script is very well done. The music is just as great. The voice acting never felt insincere. And most importantly, I never got the feeling that some studio executive told the geniuses at Pixar to make this movie because it would clean out the pockets of millions of moviegoers I'm talking to you DreamWorks. I almost hated Shrek after the third movie, then they did a fourth?! No, I never got that feeling from this movie at all. It was a rejuvenation to a property that was already loved by almost everyone. The graphical detail in the picture was incredible. I have been fighting the Blu Ray takeover for months, but if there was ever a movie that would make me take my first step, it's this one. Nope, not even Avatar could make me do it, and I loved Avatar. I didn't see the movie in 3D because I heard some bad things about how dull it was. So I won't comment on that, but even without it, this movie is gorgeous. I loved it, and I cannot wait to buy it. I'm actually glad I never bought the first two. That means I can get whatever special trilogy box set they release hopefully this holiday season. It saddens me to know that their adventures are over, but I'm glad it ended the way it did. Waiting eleven years to do the final entry was probably not intentional, but it worked out for the best. At least for me because of my age corresponding to Andy's. I'm really going to miss those toys (at least until I get that box set). May Toy Story live forever. Expand

Toy Story 3 continues talking about what Toy Story 2 started talking about, the meaning of a toys life. When Andy grows up the toys go to a daycare, which is kind of like an orphanage to humans, it's where toys go who no longer have owners. When they get to daycare it's more like a prison, they even have a "box" just like a prison. Again like Toy Story 2 there was not enough of Woody and Buzz together. I would love to see an adventure with the buddies together by each others side. The ending was wonderful when it showed the picture of Andy and his toys, it was very touching. When Andy pulls Woody away from Bonnie, he shows the toys he loves them but cant give them the attention they need. More sexual references add to the fun, especially the scene with Rex and Trixie on the computer. Great movie, I hope to see more of Woody and the gang. Expand

I do say that this film was the best of 2010 and I really can't wait to see a fourth one hopefully. I do believe that the "Toy Story" film series has been the only film series where every film has 2 stars. Its a shame that I can't find the second one. When I told you to watch a film before I have never been a serious as right now this is a film that I can watch probably 5 straight times in a row everyday of the week. It might be a little scary at points but it definintly makes you want to find out more. Also I know this movie has 3D DVD's that was the only thing bad with this film and 2010. Apparently in 2010 the though in every film maker was 3D. No I can only say that Tron Legacy and Step Up 3D were the only really good 3D films of 2010 but enough of that this is a must see all ages. Sorry, friend, but you're gonna have to wait a little bit longer, because "Toy Story 3" won't end the winning streak. In fact, it's the rare example of a third film in a series that not only works, but stands tall next to its fantastic predecessors. 11 years later, the story is still fresh, the characters are still charming and brilliant, the animation is breathtakingly beautiful, the voice acting is still fantastic, and all the humor, heart, emotion, and excitement are still right there where Pixar left them. One of the best films of 2010, and maybe one of the best animated films ever, "Toy Story 3," one of Pixar's biggest risks (third film in the series, 11 years later, etc.), ends up being one of their biggest rewards and it's a film that absolutely shouldn't be missed.

Toy Story 3 is a pull-at-your heartstrings beautiful film about growing up and moving on, no really. The tone is sometimes dark, sometimes sad, but it's a wonderful journey.

I first saw this before I had children and thought it was great. I recently watched it again with my 3 year old daughter and I think the ending is one of the most beautiful endings of any movie that I have ever seen, I was in tears.

I haven't seen this in a while but Toy Story 3 represents the end of a perfect trilogy. A genuinely heartfelt spectacle to behold

The story here exhibits depth once again pushing the idea of our favourite characters adapting to an ever changing human environment into which they anthropomorphically habit. Clearly I am spoilt for choice as I somehow felt like something was missing to blow my socks off and give a higher score! Expand

I loved the daycare setting and almost the "toy government" that it had. Lotso's story took a turn that I didn't expect, I love unexpected twists that really make you think. I am indifferent about Andy being grown up but they did a great job aging him up with the audience. When all of the toys were in trouble I felt the stakes and I felt that they could meet their fate which was dark yet so deep that is was amazing. The end was bittersweet but a good change and one of the most emotional end scenes in a movie to date. It almost felt like it was them closing off the trilogy in such a beautiful way that it would be impossible to be mad at the decision. Overall this movie was swell. It may not have been perfect but it was easily the deepest movie in the series. Expand

A must see for everyone.

'Toy Story 3' isn't quite as good as the first two movies, however, that doesn't stop it from being entertaining, and, in my opinion, being one of the best franchises of all time (notice how I didn't say "animated").

The regular toys are back including; Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), Hamm (John Ratzenberger) and many more. They start to panic because their owner Andy, has grown up and is now 17 years old and going to college.

The toys fear that they might be thrown out, but are instead, going to a child day-care called "Sunnyside" where a bunch of very young children will play with them and will never be replaced. They meet a cuddly, friendly bear named Lotso (Ned Beatty), who promises them that Sunnyside is the best place for any toy to be.

The funniest scenes involve characters Barbie (Jodi Benson) and Ken (Michael Keaton), if you know enough about Barbie dolls (even as a guy, I do), you will understand these references.

Like most third movies, the story is bigger and better than ever, though 'Toy Story 2' (1999) is my personal favorite in the franchise, if not, favorite Pixar movie. There is also more heart and emotion that does get a little sappy towards the end, but I'd rather watch a film that's sentimental and sappy than a film that's cynical and shallow.

John Lasseter is absent in the director's chair, but Lee Unkrich does a magnificent job replacing him and Lasseter's spirit remains in the film as co-writer and executive producer.

Overall, 'Toy Story 3' has a satisfying ending and will please "Toy Story" fans such as myself.

So as it turns out the Teddy Bear is the bad guy. No Problem so far, but in the end when they're all about to burn and die, they (=all the goood guys) can save themselves expect the teddy Bear who is still in danger. He apologizes and panics so they decide to save him too. RIght after he betrays them and its shown that saving him was a mistake...

Am i the only one that thinks this is sending a bad message to children? i mean dont get me wrong, i really dont care if movies have a moral or anything. But a movie with the name "Toy Story 3" is clearly made for a younger audience and this is teaching them that bad people shouldnt be forgiven because they will never change. I think we should teach children to forgive others and that nobody is "bad", just misguided and confused. THey should learn to help poeple like that and not give up on them and "throw them in the flames" like in the movie...

Well all in all its still a great movie. A lot of fun. I just wouldnt show it to kids... (which is ironic,..)

The greatest animated sequel ever made!

Pixar's next big thing a faithful new sequel to the Toy Story was a lot better than expected, though more darker and epic in drama and suspense it was a great honor to get a chance at seeing this in theaters.

Better in improved animation, Pixar those another great story of Woody, Buzz and the gang get left behind at a Child Day-Care when Andy has already grown up and the only thing on his mind now being College. however still determined to return Woody will embark on a journey that will change his and his friends as well as Andy's friendships forever, as they overcome great obstacles in a toy's life.

Powerful in detail and possessing elements that weren't in the previous two, the film is instantly a certified classic not to be missed! a thumbs up for Pixar!!

Pixar has done it again, extending an amazing streak of successes that stretches all the way back to the original Toy Story, which changed the face of feature length animation when it reached theaters in 1995. Now, 15 years after theirPixar has done it again, extending an amazing streak of successes that stretches all the way back to the original Toy Story, which changed the face of feature length animation when it reached theaters in 1995. Now, 15 years after their original debut and 11 years after the first sequel, Toy Story 2, Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), and their fellow toys have returned to the screen for another adventure. Although aspects of Toy Story 3 echo similar elements from the previous films, making this the least original entry in the trilogy, the movie's final act will resonate deeply with many viewers, making this chapter in many ways the most heartfelt.

From a purely artistic standpoint, Toy Story 3 is superior, although not vastly so, than its predecessors. At the time of their releases, Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were cutting edge, but the bar hasn't moved much in 11 years. The problem with this movie is the 3-D, which is the "preferred" format for its screening. The bright rainbow of colors becomes murky and washed out, with grays withering the kaleidoscope of hues. In addition, the 3-D appears to have been employed as an afterthought - there are lengthy sequences in which it either isn't used or is used minimally. I was surprised to find I could take off the 3-D glasses and, for stretches, not be confounded by blurred or double images. In the case of Toy Story 3, 3-D adds nothing except a box office surcharge.

With most franchises, animated or otherwise, the well has run dry by the time the third episode is under consideration, which explains why so many second sequels fail to meet expectations. In a way, the same may be true of Toy Story 3, but it doesn't strain to be different to the point where it loses sight of its strengths. Instead, it focuses on the reasons for its popularity and amplifies those. Our familiarity with the characters and their interaction becomes an asset, making the action scenes more than displays of pixels zipping across the screen. The writing shows a deftness of touch that provides Toy Story 3 with emotional depth. And director Lee Unkrich, a Pixar fixture who co-directed Toy Story 2 (among other films), shows the same mastery of elements evident in the other Toy Story films, allowing for a seamless continuity. Toy Story 3 enhances the legacy of its brand while providing exceptional entertainment value for viewers of all ages, especially for those who favor the brighter, livelier 2-D iteration over the 3-D gimmick.
