A gay conversion camp slasher. And you'd think you'd seen it all.
Ironically, it might have worked if it weren't for the fact that it soon starts to feel unpleasantly exploitative, and to use members of the LGBTQ community as a source of horror while torturing them for precisely that reason, needless to say I'm not really sure what the idea behind the creation of this movie was. Kevin Bacon should not be in movies like this.

Review-bombed by men (it's always men. Women have better sh.t to do) triggered by the title and description. This shouldn't surprise anyone, sadly.
Anyway, great companion to the 2006 doc Jesus Camp

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie is a blast! Despite being crippled by a bad script, the acting is solid throughout. Decent idea, poor execution that's saved by the casting. Expand

Unfortunately, the opening kill is the best one in the movie. From there, it's lots of discussion about being one's true self and other sexual identity issues. Most of the remaining brutality comes in the final 30 minutes and none of it is especially original or even upsetting. Theo Germaine heads up the group of teens and his acting chops are improving with every project. Even with a cast of genuinely-queer actors, the message takes dominance over any thrills. Expand

The cast really does a good job here but there are so many unintentionally funny, cringe-worthy moments that it just takes you out of it. How this was written by such an acclaimed writer is just beyond me. Is it anywhere near as bad as the score indicates? Not at all. It just isn't good. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. They/Them is NOT a horror movie and I can't stress that enough. It's a gay empowerment movie with a vaguely horror vibe blanketed over the last 20 or so minuets.

This is a minor spoiler, but at no point is anyone other than the villains in any real danger. You can't have a horror where the "good guys" are completely safe lol. The annoying part is, they STRONGLY hint at many times that this camp isn't what it seems and the counselors plan to hunt them for sport. This would have been so much better than what we got. I have to assume that was originally planned and they removed it.

Bottom line. Don't waste your time unless you simply want a gay empowerment movie because that's all this is.

I feel like I’m supposed to like this movie more than I actually do… A lot like the last Texas Chainsaw movie. Save yourself the time and rewatch a classic slasher of your choosing.

A waste of time and talent, the title is by far the best part about the movie. Lame slashes in this slasher, and a lot of cringey moments (the campers break out into a P!NK song like it was an episode of Glee). Skip it (not that anyone has Peacock).

Witty title. A complete and total mess throughout, the tone and setup here are so haphazardly portrayed it is really tough to get through. How this got advertised as a slasher film is beyond me. It's not funny, emotional, entertaining, or scary.

I dug the subject matter and the characters, the execution was fairly run of the mill. Considering the subject matter and the current climate, this movie could have been a whole lot worse.

The only part I liked about this movie was the twist who the killer was and nothing else.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Could have been a decent cheesy drama the horror part seems forced and it's not very good, it should have either scrapped the horror theme or leaned wayyy more into it, oh no bad guys die? The twist being the people you are supposed to be rooting for weren't in danger anyway? Kinda lame tbh Expand
