Only thing good about it was the acting. It was boring. I was expecting some kind of twist at the end or for the movie to rap up with some kind of moral theme, but the movie was pointless.

This movie is a one trick pony that quickly tires midway through. I found myself looking at my watch more than the screen. The only thing thinner than the plot are the characters. What a disappointment.

This P.O.S. sucks worst than gravity! Over done musical score, over the top and totally hammy acting, DDL during the church scene, please. No plot direction, weak storyline. This movie was just plain bad. What a waste of two and a half hours!

Complex character, secretly alcoholic, mean, and spiteful as he smiles to get what he wants, just like president Bush.

I thought Daniel day lewis was spectacular. He certainly deserved the award for best actor, and I thought this was easily the second best film of the year, behind No Country.

This is truly a work of symphonic aspirations and masterful execution. Anderson's superb filmmaking is complemented throughout by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's excellent score

A really bizarre and wonderful film. The cinematography, acting, and story were spectacular, all set at a gloriously steady churning pace. I loved it!

Could be slightly tightened (trimming ~5 minutes) but still a great portrayal of the ambiguities of capitalism and ambition.

Daniel Day-Lewis gives the best performance I've seen in a decade. The movie isn't perfect but it deserves a 10 for not playing it safe and exposing the darkest side of humanity.

I don t give less than 5 because of some brilliant scenes and great acting in some parts. But 80% of the movie was boring...and in a movie of 2.5h its to much. I was expecting much more.

Brilliant. A masterpiece. One of the most artful and elegant films I've seen. It's exploration of the human condition is magnificent, underscored by the most intriguing and innovative use of music in a film to come around in a long time.

It may very well be the best film of 2007; certainly time will be kind to this eccentric, almost Wellesian masterpiece from Paul Thomas Anderson. Can he follow it up with anything like an Ambersons for a one-two puch to achieve true greatness?

Daniel Day-Lewis is unparalleled in one of the best acting jobs ever done by anyone in history. Even if the rest of the movie was unacceptable, Day-Lewis' performance would alone garner a 10.

One of the most intense movies I've seen. Daniel Day Lewis is great; but equally as great is Paul Dano(the silent kid in Little Miss Sunshine). Epic battle between good and evil, but hard to tell which is which.

Overall, gripping movie for so much rich characterizations and varied visual movement. True to Texas character and ambiance, if not always flattering, from a West Texan who has been there. I recommend it highly. G.W.

Russ T- there's a good reason Day-Lewis sounds like John Huston- he was actually emulating Huston's cadences and speech and had used recordings of Huston speaking to research the role.
