To be honest, I expected worse from this movie. The Wolf of Wall Street wasn't that bad. The only reason this is an 8 is because of the unnecessary nudity and sexual content. It would've been a 10 (probably) without the sex and nudity.

Being a Scorsese fan, I can't actually say I disliked the movie or that it's bad. It's not. But, also being a Scorsese fan, I can't say it's even close to his best work or that it's as good as people claim i to be. It is not the movie of the decade, not even near and it is certainly not one of the best movies made in the recent years. 'The Wolf of Wall-Street' is a good, or better than your average 'COED party meets money' movie at best, a movie with a set of very strong qualities but also with a set of equally strong weaknesses.

The actors are definitely among the strong sides of the movie. Johan Hill delivered an Oscar-winning performance, showing an ability to add drama to his usually shallow comedy roles, while Leonardo DiCaprio actually did deliver one of the best roles of his career. Exceptionally authentic and strong, DiCaprio actually manages to present the obviously 'over-decorated' story of Jordan Belfort as realistic as possible. He could've lost only to Matt and the 'Dallas Buyers Club' and so he did, but the loss doesn't tarnish the role in any aspect. The technical details are amazing and Scorsese's direction certainly made the film come out strong, despite it's obvious flaws and I'm sure that he is only one of the handful of directors that could've made this movie so good.

As far as the weaknesses go - should I even bother? The movies is certainly too long and should've been at least 30 minutes shorter. At least! The plot line is feeble and full of holes, not to mention quite unbelievable at moments. Some of the scenes were borderline porn and quite unnecessary, leaving the impression that they were filmed in order to gain popularity among the viewers because, well - sex sells. Sadly, doing the film so that the people like it, often means a loss in quality. This movie is a clear example.

The score might be disproportionally high, but 'The Wolf of Wall Street' is really not a bad movie, it's fun, it's dynamic and interesting, with great actors and direction, but there are some essential flaws that keep it on a secure distance from the best ones, which is why I've gotten angry with the commercially oriented people that labeled this film as one of the best they've seen. Despite it's inherent quality, it is far from that standard.… Expand

What this movie focuses on is Belfort's (DiCaprio) journey into theDirector Martin Scorsese and his muse, Leonardo DiCaprio are back and are telling the true story of a man named Jordan Belfort in a movie titled 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.

What this movie focuses on is Belfort's (DiCaprio) journey into the world of Wall Street and how he becomes his own businessman running an illegal business, cheating his ignorant customers.

Belfort starts looking for different jobs and begins to get a sense of what it's like to work for the industry, he manages to persuade his customers to trust him and his talents are put to better use when he meets an eager business-inspiring man named Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill). The two men hit it off together, discussing what they aspire to do and how to get there, and it's there that Jordan is introduced to smoking pot and consuming other heavy amounts of drugs.

After they kick-start their business and become established, Jordan then meets a woman named Naomi (Margot Robbie) and they buy an apartment together and quickly get married and get their lives settled.

There are many cameos in this movie from Matthew McConaughey, to Jon Favreau and Spike Jonze. But then there's Rob Reiner, who plays the father, Max Belfort in a performance so crazy and so obnoxious, he should've been considered for some awards for his role.

DiCaprio gives us one of his most charismatic performances since Steven Spielberg's 'Catch Me If You Can' (2002), here, he gives us some physical comedy and it is surprisingly funny. Jonah Hill shares fantastic chemistry with him as the over-the-top sidekick. The two actors clearly have fun in their roles which is great to see.

Martin Scorsese tells this story in a 3 hour movie, which is one main problem I have. I have seen many movies that are longer than three hours, ('Schindler's List', 'Titanic' and 'The Lord of the Rings'), but this movie has scenes that drag on for longer than ten minutes, even if it's a jokey scene, we get the punchline, but it still goes on for a few more minutes. I do not think that the infamous story of Jordan Belfort and how he cheated his way through Wall Street needed to be told in three hours, but the movie's enigma and entertaining scenes do keep you intrigued and you find yourself glued to the movie despite its vulgarity.

This movie is full of cold-hearted characters, drugs, filthy language, and many scenes of sex and graphic nudity. It's not for everyone and I can understand if one was to be offended with the movie's content. It can be a lot t handle for three hours, but once you get into the story, you'll be entertained.… Expand

However, as for story telling, humor, truth, and a great insight of an American institution (Wall Street) that gives a pretty honest look at how the greedy stay greedy until they either plateau or fall.

While thoroughly entertaining, I cannot give more than a 7 because of the reality that will follow this movie... that more will think "I want to be rich too" after watching it, rather than "being rich doesn't buy happiness." A movie to further put the wasteful mentalities of Americans further and further into the void.… Expand

One of them starred Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio. And now The Wolf of Wall Street came out and they loved it and it's based on true events and based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort played by Leonardo DiCaprio himself. Like most Martin Scorsese films nowadays this one is intense. This is in fact the fifth time Leonardo DiCaprio worked with Martin Scorsese. They previously worked with each other in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and Shutter Island. Everyone is going on and on about Leonardo DiCaprio getting an Oscar for his performance as Jordan Belfort but instead won an Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy as for some reason this is actually a black comedy but it has loads of biographical drama. Now let me get to something what is really important. Everybody loves The Wolf of Wall Street because your mum loves Leonardo DiCaprio and your dad loves to look at Margot Robbie. And you should't be watching it with your parents because why? Sex, drugs, nudity and up to 569 uses of the F-word. Martin Scorsese is known for making films that contains alot of swearing for the most part and if you're looking for a kid friendly film from Martin Scorsese, check out Hugo because everything else he's ever directed is never going to be child friendly. But if you regret watching a Martin Scorsese film with your Mum and Dad, The Wolf of Wall Street will be a prime example. That being said, The Wolf of Wall Street is a fantastic amazing film, lots of great acting by all cast especially from Leonardo DiCaprio. The first time at the cinema I did not like it, because sex was omnipresent, too much money and a soup of anything without interest. On the contrary, not without interest, this film puts a gray area under the light. This gray area is represented by a pre-adult band whose wolf finds a flaw in the system and who will enjoy so much that the scenes range from the simple **** to total planeattitude see coma. It's a bit like the money starts slowly and it ends with "I do not know where to put it". The evolution of the exploitation of the fault is long, can be a bit too much. The hunt is short. And the fall is immediate. But the film delivers a peach! The wolf speeches are fantastic is the fair magical actor game! An excellent moment.

Ce film est juste génial. La première fois au cinéma je n'ai pas aimé, car le sexe était omniprésent, trop d'argent et une soupe de n'importe quoi sans intérêt. Au contraire censés pas sans intérêt ce film met sous la lumière une zone grise. Cette zone grise sont représentés par une bande pré adulte dont le loup qui trouve une faille dans le système et qui va en profiter un max tellement que les scènes vont de la simple baise à la planeattitude totale voir le coma. C'est un peut comme l'argent ça commence doucement et ça fini par "je ne sais pas où le mettre" . L'évolution de l'exploitation de la faille est longue, peux être un peut trop. La traque est courte. Et la chute est immédiate. Mais le film délivre une pêche ! Les discours du loup sont fantastiques est le jeu d'acteur juste magique ! Un moment excellent.… Expand

Brilliant in every sense of the world. Most of the people who hate on this movie hate on it because it’s extreme and they fail to see that that is exactly the point. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the man who makes a fortune but then loses it all. This is an excessive film about excess, and a movie about appetites whose own appetite for compulsive pleasures seems bottomless. The things I liked about this film was that it is funny and entertaining. I don’t think that it needs improving. There are different characters they are: WOLF the memoirs of Jordan Belfort (DeCaprio). A man who went from financial struggle to one of the most immoral and corrupt stockbrokers on Wall Street. Belfort’s brought into the business by a Wall Street man (Matthew McConaughey in a one-scene role) who abuses the virtues of taking drugs as an appetizer to a 3-martini lunch Belfort made the cover of trade industry publications before he was 30. The police spent years investigating him, and he was banned from the securities business. He also served time for fraud and money laundering. The camera and cutting style the director uses here is very persuasive, so that we are excited by the cocky rich wall street broker and sense of ‘family’ on view in the Stratton Oakmont offices.… Expand

Jonah Hill and others make up Belfont's crazy colleagues and more than provide a few laugh out moments. Scorsese is branching even to this day and it is great to see the legend still at it, although I'd have preferred a better subject. Regardless, for fans of Scorsese and Leo The Wolf of Wall Street is a great film.Good Scorsese movie based on real life events… Expand

Os personagens são muito carismáticos e o elenco, além de conter vários nomes de Hollywood, está muito bem escalado, com claro destaque ao Leonardo DiCaprio, que entra no personagem e encara varias cenas difíceis e a Margot Robbie, que vai muito além de um corpo bonito, visto seu desempenho no ultimo arco. O filme rende varias cenas cômicas, "brinca" com diversos temas sérios, mas sem incentiva-los, o que exige uma destreza precisa por parte da direção. A fotografia, trilha sonora, cenografia e figurino estão no ponto, o que deixa sua identidade ainda mais unica.

Como conclusão, algumas pessoas podem ter deixado de entender a importância da obra e acabando julgando mal. His range is on full display on "The Wolf Of Wall Street" I'm absolutely certain that this film alone has inspired hundreds if not thousands to pursue a stockbroker career. Thank you Martin Scorsese. The film is engaging, funny, and even at times like the ending, thought provoking. Scorsese does a phenomenal job highlighting what life was probably like at Stratton Oakmont, a real company that was lower than pond scum and scammed the hell out of thousands. The story of Belfort is also incredible and well complimented by Leos phenomenal acting. Can we also get a nod for Jonah Hill and Margot? They acted the hell out of their roles! This is the best acting I've seen in a film hands down. The dedication to the characters by the cast is unmatched by any other film in the last ten or so years. The acting, scenery, music, real story, and environment make this a cult classic. Thank you Scorsese. Its outrageous, sometimes borderline absurd, but that's what makes this film special.… Expand

I didn't care for the characters, but I damn did have a great time watching 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. It's absolutely nuts, and I mean that in a positive way.

Leonardo DiCaprio simply never puts an acting foot wrong, this is the sixth filmI didn't care for the characters, but I damn did have a great time watching 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. It's absolutely nuts, and I mean that in a positive way.

Leonardo DiCaprio simply never puts an acting foot wrong, this is the sixth film I've seen of his and I love (fwiw: all 9/10+) them all. Phenomenal actor! He is outstanding here as Jordan Belfort, the guy this film is based upon. As noted, I didn't really ever care for Jordan but DiCaprio makes it impossible not to enjoy watching events throughout.

Jonah Hill (Donnie) comes in with a very good performance, the type of which I hadn't previously seen from him; closest being, in terms of quality, 'Moneyball'. Margot Robbie, meanwhile, isn't easy to forget as Naomi. Though none of the following standout big, it's pleasant to see Jon Bernthal, Matthew McConaughey and Jon Favreau, among others, appear.

The almost three hour run time, aside from a couple of moments, goes by fairly quickly. A big reason for that is the sheer bonkers nature of the plot, which goes in so many different directions it's impressive. It doesn't, as I've already mentioned, breed likeability for the characters but I definitely had a fun time watching it all unfold. I guess it depends on what you, as a viewer, prefer. I got the desired amount of entertainment.… Expand

I had high hopes because of the incredible score, but sadly I had the fealing of watching every movie where a gangster goes big and loses it all in the end. I don't know why exactly but it feels like a modern remake of Blow but replacing the weed with stocks. If this was the first movie in it's kind it would get an 8 at least, but same old story and same predictable end... I think I would have liked it if dicaprio got away with it and lived happily ever after. It is a true story, but then again this is the story of every stock brocker that **** up and makes a lot of money along the way... Worth a watch, but be warned this isn't the piece of art we're made to believe

This is supposed to be a comedy? I saw this as a sad cautionary tale against self indulgent pathetic hedonistic depraved lifestyles. At the 50 minute mark yeah it more than made it's point already. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As an investment man myself, I find Wolf of Wallstreet extremely disrespectful to day traders. And that’s why I love this movie. You see, unlike other movies which require extensive knowledge of the stock market to really fully enjoy, Wolf Of Wallstreet is a tale of drugs, sex and honour (except that last part). And everyone loves drugs and sex (this is purely hypothetical mom). First, the characters of WOW are so vibrant. I constantly find myself laughing at their adorably hilarious moments, snorting white powder, doing the devils tangle and most of the time both. And the rich problems they face are just so stupid in nature that it makes the film so entertaining. Laundering money (clearly never heard of Crown Casino), cheating on their wives without them knowing, having an hour minute delay before the lemons kick in, these characters are just stupid fun. They are also emotional though. We see a drug fuelled Jorden tear his family apart when faced with losing his child and wife, when faced with death, Jorden wants to die on drugs – we even see him try to save his closest friend Donnie by alerting him that he was wired when snitching to the feds. That said, Wolf of Wall Street’ story is good but nothing revolutionary. Basing itself of Jorden Belfort’s time, manipulating the stock market and running a penny stock scam, it’s clear to any investment orientated person that WOW is not a movie directly about that. It’s sensationalised. You’re not going to learn anything about stocks, other than how corrupt the big players on wall street can be. The Story is complete though with an ending that has reasonable closure and couldn’t have been done a lot better. When it comes to cinematography, the movie doesn’t do anything too special. There are no crazy pan shots, nothing too high tech. They do a decent job of the huge orgy scenes and special effects when the characters are taking drugs. Other then that, they maybe could have done a bit more in the boat scene and used more expensive shots to really sell that multi, multi-millionaire feeling.
Overall definitely a favourite movie of mine but from a critical perspective probably about a 7-8, as while in terms of purely technical aspects, it’s really like a 6, it gains some points for being entertaining and highly pop cultural.… Expand

Matthew McConaughey is so **** good. My account is dedicated to his character in the film. You truly can’t take your eyes off of him in those 6 minutes. The only thing that makes me upset is that this movie has been subjected to so many kringe motivation posts. It’s not emotionally impactful but it is entertaining. Very, very entertaining. Thsts the only reason it’s up there with the greats. It also teaches you a lot. A lot about crime, a lot about people, a lot about money, a lot about power. And how one can lose it all.… Expand
