Sweet and hilarious. It's probably the best romantic comedy I've seen. The chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore is fantastic, and the performances from everybody were outstanding. I highly recommend.

Robbie (the singer) is a very likeable character - his emotions coming through his performances. The story is somewhat obvious but then it is a 'rom com', so in a sense thats to be expected. There's nothing particularly remarkable about it but its quite entertaining and there are one or two standout scenes, such as when Robbie sings "Kill Me Please" very emotionally during rehearsals. You can't help but feel sorry for both Robbie, who doesn't seem to realise that who he should really be with is (as is so often the case) almost right in front of his nose and Julia, who clearly has feelings for Robbie but can't see any reciprocation.

Yes its hardly a new format but there is a nice smattering of comedy in the dialogue, the music/soundtrack is fun/nostalgic and the characters are quite likeable for lack of another term. I'd say that Sandler outshines Barrymore in this movie - she is a bit more nonchalant I suppose.

This is a fairly basic movie but it has alot of 'warmth' to it and thats what, most likely, accounts for its popularity. Its easy to watch, its nostalgic and has a nice amount of comedy, you should get at least a few chortles out of this (what a word - I know lol). I'm struggling to think of anything else to add to be honest - its pretty basic but its good for what it is, as a romantic comedy its interesting to concentrate on a character such as Robbie, with his occupation someone like him would be easily overlooked most of the time - who would take the time to wonder what a wedding singers own life and relationships are like? so in that sense it has a slightly different and interesting plot I suppose.

Yes I'd recommend this movie, as its quite entertaining with a good main character and some funny dialog and if your from the 1980s then you should certainly find it quite nostalgic.

Amazing movie. It's touchy and funny. The quintessential romantic-comedy. And the soundtrack is amazing, too. I love 80's music so much, and they make some great choices. The two songs Sandler adds are pretty good as well.

The Wedding Singer stars Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler as the main two characters and it's a silly but good romantic comedy and very funny. Drew Barrymore is very beautiful as Julia but when her hubby Glen starts cheating on her she falls for the wedding singer played ironically by Adam Sandler. Julia (Barrymore) is a waitress and the wedding singer known as Robbie (Sandler) and Julia strike up a friendship then eventually love which Glen (Julia's hubby) tries to prevent but fails miserably. The Wedding Singer is hilarious because Adam Sandler gives a great comedy performance and it's a very funny, witty and beautifully made film even if some of the characters are oddballs but avoid the Boy George lookalike wannabe. Besides that The Wedding Singer is a funny, comedy romance film and beautifully put together. Expand

This isn't exactly the most original of romantic comedies, however the chemistry between Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore more than makes up for it. If only Sandler would make more of these films.

After seeing Grownups 2, this movie ended up being a lot better with Adam Sandler giving a much better performance. Set in 1985 (filmed in 1998) the movie stars Adam Sandler as Robbie Hart, a wedding singer.

The cast is strong with several random appearances by some well known actors and performers. The film may be a bit predictable but it is still a very fun movie. It pairs Drew Barrymore with Sandler for the first time and now the two have released two more strong films. This movie is maybe a little on the romantic side considering its an Adam Sandler movie but its just too fun and entertaining to miss. Expand

He's engaged to be married and ends up left at the altar. He ends up beginning a friendship with a waitress named Julia played by a lovable Drew Barrymore whose engaged to a douchebag. They of course end up falling for eachother and hilarious problems ensue. The film is truly a perfect romantic comedy. No matter how many times I watch it, I still get so into it. Hilarious, heartfelt and classic.

One of Sandler's best comedies. You actually get somewhat invested in the story and you care about the characters. Sandler also gives one of his better performances.

Atleast it beats Jack and Jill, OMG! This movie in my opinion was the only "good" Sandler movie to ever come out. The subtlety of the comedy was good and he wasn't trying to funny "Thank god" although everyone was and they were alot funnier than him.

Frank Coraci directs this romantic comedy about a wedding singer (Sandler) struggling to find true love in a seemingly cruel world. From what I've heard about this film, it's one of Sandler's best movies. IGN actually called it his best, so needless to say I wanted to see it. Is it his best movie? I don't think so, but it's not bad. I found most of this movie to be quite entertaining. The best part of this movie is the fact that if features an almost unbearably charming soundtrack featuring a plethora of 80s classics. I love the 80s, I honestly think they were one of the best decades in American History. It was a time that featured a cultural renaissance, a solid economy, and an overall unique feel and I was glad to see that this movie embraced that period so openly. Adam Sandler is also one of the film's strongest points. I honestly did not think that he could play any other part than the lovable fool ("Waterboy") or the ill-tempered everyman ("Billy Madison"), but he can. Not saying that those parts are bad, but it's refreshing to see a change of pace every once and a while, and Sandler's performance in this film is one. Some of the jokes are filled with a little too much brown and they seem dated in a few parts, but the film's comedy is generally funny. The script is pretty predictable, but as I said it's too charming to rip apart. Anyway I found that, in the end, "The Wedding Singer" was a genuinely entertaining movie that ranks among one of Adam Sandler's best movies. Expand

He incorporates singing and song-writing, every single kind of joke you could ever come up with and an awesome support cast in everything he's done, oh yea which by the way he has pretty much built from the ground up. It's sad to see him so discredited on sites like this. [Rant over]

This movie has a good story, pretty typical romantic comedy plot. Adam Sandler's acting is great, along with the legendary Drew Barrymore's. The support cast is funny and Sandler is always good at picking out a really believable douche-bag to play that role.

The Wedding Singer

There are some genuine laughs here and there that too especially when it mocks and points out its own petty script that is filled with cliched sequences which is sugar coated by innocent relation between the protagonists. Tim Herlihy's wafer thin script fails to provide anything to the audience resulting piling the load on the director Frank Coraci who is unfortunately okayish in his work. Adam Sandler; at the heart of it, won't disappoint (if one is palpable to its offered usual tone) with Drew Barrymore who too holds on to her part. The Wedding Singer is your typical rom-com that checks off each and every prediction of the viewers and fails to deliver anything beyond your low expectations.
