Take the two annoying cutesy children from the original Jurassic Park (where there were dinosaurs to watch at least), add a plot twist you could see coming after the first 10 minutes (well, maybe two minutes), several foul adult diapers, some silly references to the oven in Hansel and Gretel, and you’ve got a real stink bomb on your hands. I am amazed that this got the decent critical reviews that it did. Worse yet, we had to sit through the coming attractions for Pan – I guess we were just the wrong audience. The actors who played the grandparents didn’t do a bad job, and you had to feel sorry for them since they had so little to work with. Expand

After a series of non understandable events and behavior they discover that their true grandparents were killed by the two old maniacs occupying the house. They ask their mother for a help through Skype which arrive after the two grandsons hardly got rid of the old maniacs. Absolute stupidity, absurdity, and lack of scenario and photography. Weird behavior of the two old maniacs has their explanation only in the mind of the director of this waste of every good thing piece of nonsense. Awful, awful, awful .. Expand

First of all, it isn't original. There is nothing in this movie you haven't seen in countless other movies, unless you have never seen a found footage style movie that relies on jump scares. Second of all, the movie just isn't scary. Horror needs more than jump scares to be scary, and all the jump scares in this movie were dreadfully predictable. Third of all, is the movie funny? Depends. When I knew it was trying to make me laugh I only ended up cringing. I think I actually found the most humor in the parts that were supposed to be taken seriously. There is a decent twist in "The Visit" that I won't spoil because it is the only thing that saves the movie. I am waiting for the twist when M. Night makes a good movie post-Sixth Sense. Expand

Easily the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I tried to find some hidden message or that perhaps the movie was intentionally horrible to convey how the horror industry has fallen in recent years. But no. I am pretty sure this is just garbage. Save you money and watch Gigli on netflix it's probably better. Expand

The Visit's revelation comes when grandboy sends an online view of granpappy and granmammy to his mother and mommy hits us with "the revelation". This one fell flat. Coulda / Shoulda saved the revelation til the very end, with mommy holding her **** covered son in her arms, as the police point their guns at knife-wielding granparents who come - a - charging to kill kill kill. Instead, grandaughter films herself stabbing granma and granboy does his Joaquin Phoenix (signs) version of "just swing away". Thankfully, granboy loses those "failure demons" he experienced on his football team, along with sis, who can now look at herself in the mirror. Shoulda been a horror film, not a what it was. Expand

Absolutely pathetic movie, makes no sense .... neither it is weird nor wacko..
Extremely disgusting stuff from Night Shyamalan. Time you hang up your boots and do something apart from direction/scriptwriting..

Night Shyamanan...'s latest movie, as if we needed another reason to be frightened of old people (and rapping). You get the usual formula for one of his movies and although it's not his worst it's certainly not his best either. With the obligatory twist we've all come to expect in a Shyamanan... movie it's not bad, on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being The Happening and 10 being The Sixth Sense) this clocks in at a 5.
I can safely say it's been years since I laughed this much for the duration of a film, along with every other person in the cinema, this is guaranteed to crack you up. Recommended for pure entertainment value.

Really stupid and pointless. I found myself bored and waiting for the movie to start, but in the end, it never actually started. A very disappointing movie.

Shaymalan has finally snapped. The result is a cliched bird flipping to those who(justifiably) wronged him and bashed all his previous work. On the bright side, this movie would make a good goosebumps episode.
