The story is a little confusing for me and it seemed like there were a few character that just didn't need to be there, but overall the film was still good. The last 25 minutes are really what save this movie. Jason Statham is unstoppable and all the action is fresh. I would likely check out the other two films in this series at some point. The Transporter is a great movie for anybody who enjoys action films. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 'The Transporter' was surprisingly more interesting than what I expected. The scenario is cool and realistic in a certain way, the pace is great. Action scenes are awesome even if Statham showcases his footkicks a bit too much and often. I mean in some scenes he knocks several opponents out with the same kick again and again. The scene in the mud/oil near the end is really wierd and dumb.

Some scenes are over-cut and that makes the movie a bit hard to understand and to enjoy, especially on that scene in the beginning in which Frank jumps with his car on a truck. I had to pause and rewatch the scene to understand what was going on. However car crashes are realistic and enjoyable when not ruined by terrible special effects.

Dialogues level vary from really dumb and laughable to decent, with some truly quotable punchlines. The romance is really lame and boring, and the music during romantic scenes certainly doesn't help at all. Speaking of music it also varies between awful techno and decent average-action-movie style.

The role of the woman (Shu Qi) is terrible. Is that even possible to make her more stereotyped? She cooks, she is constantly helpless, she appears only for sex and/or to showcase her body, she likes flowers and she wants to find that sweet heart beneath that crust of virility of Frank. Plus serving this asian girl a bowl of noodles is totally racist ain't it, right?

Don't forget also that the villain is overly stereotyped, that the Orangina brand appears as the shameless sponsor, that all the ending dialogues are a bunch of nonsense crap and clichés and that the French cop's acting (François Berléans) is worse than terrible.

There are way too much nonsense and too many irrealistic issues and inonsistencies in this movie. I made a list of the ones that shocked me the most here:
- Bandits are laughing hard while they killed their buddy like five minutes ago
- Frank manages to make his car jump on a semi-trailer and the driver doesn't feel, hear and fear anything
- Frank says he precisely calculated the amount of fuel and however he manages to drive fast and long enough to run from the police
- How did the girl manage to get on board while attached to a wheelchair without any help?
- Frank and the woman are wanted by hardcore criminals yet he decide to bring her to his house
- How can a seeker-head missile fired from a distance enter through the front door of the house and blow up the living room?
- The girl says her parents and brothers are kidnapped on a boat but has time for sex, breakfast and an unexpected visit
- How can you possibly take the air out of an immersed person with pierced lungs by kissing him?
- How and why did all the cops suddenly appear when Frank has done all the job?

However the movie is really funny despite itself at some point. I surprisingly enjoyed it despite its awful terrible dreadful numerous flaws. That's wierd, but that's my opinion. If I tried to be objective this would deserve something close to a 3 or 4 out of ten.

The action equivalent to horrors "Scary Movie" series. The films are fast paced, over the top and extravagant throughout. Statham is serious at all times and doesn't let on to the fact that he is playing an archetypal action hero, ignorant to the immensely ridiculous nature of his actions, which gives the film a much deeper and darker sense of humor. The films highlight the absurd nature of action films by excessively exaggerating every element that make up the action genre to a point of obvious mockery. Many of the famous action scenes that have graced cinema screens are copied and ridiculed in this excessively exaggerated way. Expand

It's formula hell, but it manages to stay alive the whole time. Transporter plays like series of short cuts and they're all cool; they just don't add up to much.

A good action film. I like how the protagonist is brutal and does a criminal job but still acts like a gentleman and lives under his own rules, he has made.

This movie was action packed. Jason Statham really proved his acting skills in this movie. The second part was not nearly as good as this one. Looking forward to seeing part 3 instead.

Transporter is a fun, cheezy, over the top, self aware, guilty pleasure, so bad it's good type of film and it does those things very good. This film is just for the action fans. And is the film that truly made Statham into the action star.

The acting from Frank (Jason Statham) is brilliant and so is his dialogue, I just wish that the rest of the cast were as good as him because their performances were alright but their dialogue felt a bit too forced.

Also, the action sequences throughout this movie are very smart and very unique, I really enjoyed them all and there's some great choreography throughout them.

The biggest thing which has aged badly throughout this movie would have to be the haircuts which these people have got, they're so early 00s they're so funny, lol.

Overall, The Transporter is an alright action movie. It's got some brilliant acting from Jason Statham and it's even got some very smart and very unique action sequences from start to finish.

Outrageous and hilarious. Both 1 & 2 are parodical in many of the scenes which would be physically impossible in real life. The stereotypical unrealistic hollywood action goes so far that it becomes very apparent that the film isn't being serious.

It is a well crafted action movie with great choreographic written by Luc Besson. Jason Statham is Frank Martin known as the Transporter. He has 3 rules: A deal made is final, no names and he will never open the package. After the furious introduction he breaks his last rule and gets into more trouble than he could imagine. It is a fine action movie with great chases and intense fight scenes. The story is also pretty good for an action movie but that is a bonus in this genre for many not including me. Jason Statham does a great job being the stoic man which has still a heart underneath his facade. Shu Qi is a good addition to him. She is a character with strong believes and morals. She is more just than a damsel in distress but not an action heroine. Matt Schulze is a worthy adversary and an enjoyable villain you love to hate. Francoise Berleand is the fitting Inceptor who bends rules in name of justice. Overall a fitting cast. I think I have said all there is to say. For my conclusion I will say it is a well made action movie with an enjoyable cast and memorable scenes with a astonishing low budget of 21 millions. Expand

Is Transporter an oscar worthy film? No, definitely not. Is it the best action trash I've seen this year? Yes. It's a slick, sexy package, that deserves a rewatch. It's mind blowing. Watch it, you deserve something cool this season.

Man delivers stuff in the South of France, no questions asked, friends with Police Detective, meets pretty Chinese lady who was his "cargo", gets crossed by George Michael, wants revenge.
Brainless action film with the whispering Jason Statham whose accent really is something to behold. Sort of a Cockney playing an American playing a Londoner.
The action is fast, fun & far-fetched, Statham seems in his element here & it's enjoyable if you don't take it seriously.
Not sure how the truck kept it's speed when they were fighting though?

The Transporter is that clichéd fall blockbuster that you can't help but like a little bit, despite it's many letdowns. Statham is the man here; he's just found himself in weaker material than he's used to.

Trash.
I get that this is an unrealistic piece of escapism but it is overly cliched, muddled mess starring an actor who isn't fit to star in c-grade commercial let alone be the lead in a movie.
