I wouldn't be surprised to find piles of this DVD next to ET: The Extra-Terrestrial Atari game.

This movie would have been perfect had it been release to ride on the wave that was Club Dread, and beerfest and the like. I rememeber that in my inner circles we "waited" for this film, but once we saw if we realise that we got a "cold dish" for us to digest. The only thing that made it possible for me and my comprades able to sit thu this is that fact that we have such a fanfare reverence for the actors... but they need to step their game up. The movie pacing was back and forth, and the site gags, and subplot were.. there... but really should have been more fleshed out. It felt like a movie full of cameos... and not enough time for any one guest to make an impact on this film.… Expand

Very funny movie. It was made on a low budget with little writing due to the writers strike. They did a great job with what they had. Michael Clark Duncan was hilarious. Their were some obvious unbelievable occurrences, but if you like the Very funny movie. It was made on a low budget with little writing due to the writers strike. A fun and funny movie. OK, there are some very sophomoric gags. But that's part of what Broken Lizard is all about. All those critics above need a reality check. What did they expect, eh? Not as good as their previous work but still pretty solid. A few solid laughs through out and Michael Clark Duncan really steals the show in my opinion. Could have been better though.

This film perfectly encompasses the wacky situations that are possible in all parts of the food service industry; from the interactions between the waiters, the cooks, the busboys, the owner, and the customers. When there is a revolving doorThis film perfectly encompasses the wacky situations that are possible in all parts of the food service industry; from the interactions between the waiters, the cooks, the busboys, the owner, and the customers. When there is a revolving door of new, and sometimes interesting, people coming in and out there are plenty of opportunities to find comedy engraved into the story. The Slammin' Salmon does this. Each character is memorable in their own way. Rather than seeking tired archetypes, they decide to go a step further and successfully gave most of them a unique backstory. Though they can be seen as outlandish, they are still grounded in reality and are therefore believable; a medical student, failed actor, a teacher and sufferer of a mental illness that when untreated turns him into Zongo, a late 2000's metrosexual a-hole, a ballerina, a crazy (possibly drug addled) head chef, the skittish brother-in-law of the owner, and a timid busboy who is both the twin brother of the chef and his complete opposite. Of course, Michael Duncan steals the show as Cleon Salmon, the owner of the restaurant and serial muddler of common phrases and sayings. He won his fortune in the boxing ring during such storied fights as The Dispute in Beirut and the Fracas in Caracas. It would not be unreasonable to describe this comedic role as one of his finest and most memorable performances. Just guessing, Cleon is likely responsible for 70% of the most quotable moments in the film. "Have you heard of shistifisiasis? Well, I've got it. I've got it real bad"

"If if's and but's was candies and nuts, then we'd all have a merry christmas" "Who is this guy? Meatdrapes? What kind of name is that?" "It's Medrapedes sir. It's greek" "Why doesn't it sound like that when I say it? Meatdrapes."

Endlessly rewatchable with friends and family, and highly quotable. The perfectly packaged comedy film.… Expand
