Very enjoyable family adventure film with good lessons about black hat practises. I would have preferred if the Sea Monsters looked less like how to train your dragon lol. Still great.

En este año, en que las propuestas de cine animado han sido muy desiguales, esta aventura que remite a Moby Dick es buen pretexto para tener entretenidos a los niños, sin exigir demasiado. Casi olvido la gran calidad de la animación.

My god some of the noses on the characters were distractingly gigantic. Otherwise, wonderful and gorgeous film.

I'm not sure why this gem has garnered mediocre reviews. It's a satirical look at adventure film tropes with magnificent animations, lots of color, and a wicked sense of humor. Best movie in 2022 and my personal recommendation!
All characters are different and very memorable. Very interesting plot, some moments can scare, some laughing, but whole story really tragic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie starts out incredibly strong, but takes a very sharp turn in story and quality at the half-way point. What was initially a unique and exciting tale of high-seas adventure quickly becomes discount How to Train Your Dragon, to the point where the monster has a carbon copy of Toothless's face. All of it culminating in in a contrived climax where the strong independent 11 year old girl lectures the world on "war-bad", and then everybody claps. It was neat for them to at least include a bit about rich elites bankrolling war for profit, but at this point the movie was a shadow of it's incredibly strong first act.… Expand

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I was rolling my eyes a lot at the beginning and at first it seemed like a straight-up rip-off of the first "How to Train Your Dragon" but boy did it really deliver its own vision and charm andI watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I'm actually extremely sad and in a very bad situation as my defenseless people, bare-handed, are being slaughtered by the terrorists of islamic republic. No one is in a good mood right now in my country. Yet, this animation made me feel much much better.

Definitely one of the best animations I've ever seen in my life. Unlike everyday Disney animations, it has unique and wonderful story and character development and way of story telling. It is perfect in every way and it is teaching us a lot.

Thank you very very much Netflix & Skydance you made my day.

Best part of this animation is that little blue monster. Sooooo cute & funny.… Expand

It may be far from making a statement in the field in which it operates, but what's refreshing about The Beast from the Sea is that its ambition is self-centered and doesn't pretend to be a film it's not.

It won't be the most consistent film in the world, but what it gets right is meritorious. It's as if it knew very well what elements to take from other films; Moana and How to Train Your Dragon are the ones that come to mind the quickest, but it manages to give it its twist and identity, while relying on a narrative structure that is clearly aimed at a young audience, but it's one that doesn't treat them as stupid, and that's something the genre desperately needs in that regard. Surprisingly great animated movie. Imaginative and full of wonder. Voice casting was great also. Highly recommend watching with your little one.

It is a sweet cartoon movie. I like the animation and action scenes, and the characters are likeable enough. Karl Urban has a fantastic voice, and Blue is quite adorable. I wouldn't, however, seek to see it again.
