It has its moments, however, with some colorful side characters mixed in with some truly bland leads and alot of action to satisfy those who are just looking to be entertained. The problem I felt is that I'm not really sure what Shane Black was going for in terms of storytelling and direction. It felt more like an action-comedy than a tightly woven thriller that the original one set out to be. All in all, it's not a bad movie, it just could have been alot better. Expand

It is a cobbled together mess of CGI, MCU inspired gadgets, a very poorly chosen story and above all else, it makes Batman Forever look like shakespeare.

Characters: Not memorable, expendable, out of place, but they were funny.
Predators: Looked like the AvP hunters, which instantly ruined the verociousness and legacy of the original Predator movies.
Story: The background story isn't that bad thought out, but the execution made me cringe.

I can only blame one man for this abomination, and that's Shane Black.

Garbage, absolute garbage. But we have to be fair. It is 2/10 in my book. Hadn't the jokes and somewhat interesting background story saved it, it would have been a 1/10.

On one hand, some of the characters in this film are unbearably cringe. On the other hand; the Predator itself is truly terrifying, exciting and a joy to witness in its full force.

"You are one beautiful ****

Wow, this was embarrassing to watch.

‘The Predator’ is a mishmash of tones with a potty mouth. Really abusing that ‘R’ rating with every chance they get. You know it’s a bad sign when Arnold Schwarzenegger himself turned down the role to star in this movie. I mean, Arnold does not make the boldest choices, but he made the right decision with this one.

Not to say it doesn't have any entertaining moments and colorful characters, who are cartoonish enough to be enjoyable. On a film making side however, it fails to be a movie. The story, editing, and writing is atrocious - Especially the ridiculous story line surrounding the autistic kid and the Predator. Also, the portrayal of disability here is really inaccurate and comes across insulting. Weirdly enough, Shane Black has tourette's.

To be honest, I can’t believe Shane Black directed this. How could you go from “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and ‘The Nice Guys’, then something like this. I can’t fully grasp what Black’s main vision was or what he’s going for. Completely misses the point of the original.

The awesome score is gone and John McTiernan magic touch is needed. Olivia Munn as a scientist? What a joke. Boyd Holbrook is such a boring lead; he just plays tough guy with a gun. Predator Hounds are so useless and a wasted opportunity. ‘Mega Predator’ is just whatever. Not threatening at all.

Overall rating: “You're one ugly ****

I haven't felt this mixed walking out of a theater since Star Wars The Last Jedi. There are many things I liked that legitimately made me happy and there are things I hate that made me legitimately angry. Before I break this movie down, II haven't felt this mixed walking out of a theater since Star Wars The Last Jedi. There are many things I liked that legitimately made me happy and there are things I hate that made me legitimately angry. Before I break this movie down, I think it's important to tell you my sort of ranking/stance on the Predator franchise. Starting with my ranking of all the previous Predator films from best to worst: "Predator", "Predators", "Predator 2". As for how I feel about Predator; I've loved Predator since middle school and even though the alien films are better in quality, I always felt Predators were more fascinating and enjoyable to watch and even though a lot of people say the Predator sequels are all bad, they all have special places in my heart as guilty pleasures. I just enjoy everything about them from their code of honor, their weapons, who they hunt, and their backstory. So when I heard Shane Black (a writer and actor in the first Predator and a great director with films like "The Nice Guys"), I was excited... until I saw the movie.

To start with what I liked, I was surprised by how enjoyable the characters were. A lot of the Predator sequel common criticisms are how bland the humans are and looking at the trailer, I thought it was gonna be the same here, but they were funny, unpredictable, and had great chemistry with each other. It also helps that Shane Black added a lot of humor in the film. While a lot of people seem to take issue by the humor (most saying they're trying to be like Marvel), it works... mostly. I also always enjoy these movies for pushing the R rating, which seems to be lacking in blockbusters today. I can't help but chuckle or jaw drop at some of the brutal kills and while they went a little overboard with the swearing in some scenes, it added a lot of comedic moments in others. It was also nice to see a lot of callbacks or references to previous Predator films and even an AVP easter egg to connect these films into a bigger story. Another pro was the classic Predator for this movie. This guy was so fun to watch from the first fight onward. I love how resourceful he was too; doing and using things I've never seen a Predator try before. I just wish he was in the movie longer. It might seem like I love this movie so far, but now let's talk about what I hate. The new Predator origin for starts. Why? I was fine with them being hunters who travel the galaxy in search of trophies. But now the reason they hunt is to upgrade themselves, and they're hunting more on Earth because global warming is gonna wipe us out in a few generations and they'll repopulate here. If you think that sounds dumb, wait till you see what the upgrade does in the third act. Also, why are there upgraded predators? It's like hunt a lion with a tank. The Predators already have an advantage over their prey with all their weapons so doesn't it kinda ruin the whole point of the hunt to make yourself more overpowered. And the upgrade is just that. He's usually boring to watch. Unlike the classic predator who has to use stealth and be creative because he's strong but still vulnerable, the upgrade can make himself bulletproof and just walks up to people. I didn't mind the "Bad Blood" predators in "Predators" because it seemed more balanced, but the fight between the upgrade & classic predator was a joke compared to the predators fight in "Predators" and the trailers and even one of the posters spoils the whole fight. There are also some plot holes with the predators logic in this and I keep finding more plot wholes the more I think back on this movie. I also hated the kid's plot in this movie. It brought the movie to a halt most of the time and they make his autism a superpower in this movie. The payoff for his story arc is also one of the worst low points of the series. I dare you not to be dumbfounded when that scene pops up. After the first act seems to take this film as a traditional predator film, those who go in expecting that will be disappointed. It acts as a parody of Predator films (teasing their name, backstory, and tropes). Maybe that was what Shane was going for since the first Predator started as a light spoof of 80's action movies. Or maybe he just didn't take Predator serious. As for the action and effects, it's serviceable, but most of it isn't that impressive. And that ending... no. Just no.

Overall, this movie would have been better if they took the kid out, had the whole upgrade storyline stick to one "Bad Blood" predator who wanted to hunt other predators, and forces the classic predator to join the humans to fight the upgrade. However, I don't want to see a sequel to this. Maybe a different story (maybe one of the predator coming to earth during different time periods), but as far as I'm concerned, this movie is not canon. It might have legit moments of enjoyment and pass off as an alright movie, but it's still probably the worst of the Predator films.

A unique twist is that this clumsy and forgetful alien may actually be trying to save the world... but is killing people anyway for no real reason. I may be wrong about that plot point because I started reading the ingredients label on my large soda and was too bored to listen to what the characters were saying. Another unique twist is that the classic award winning designs of creatures from the original movie was "upgraded" to some bad CGI. There were some explosions and a very stupid and irrational female scientist who appears to have unexplained superpowers, a death wish and an urge to strip naked when in danger. Also the movie seems to have a cast of bad comedy actors who think they are funny but never really do anything funny. Something must have happened behind the scenes because the director has made good movies. I would be interested to know the events that made this movie so bad. The after credits tease for a sequel that will never happen was so bad it was like they really didn't want people to watch a sequel to this. Expand

There is no way that a new predator or Alien movie is superior to the first ones, The Predator is not that bad, but it could have been much better.
I mean, imagine if they had done one more time the plot of the hunter taking down the soldiers one by one again, apparently that's what the audience wanted to see, but at the same time they would have said that it´s repetitive and unoriginal. Shane Black did what he could, but he definitely does not have the
same quality that has put on other films like the nice guys, he takes elements from the other predator movies but in this one he took more freedom in terms of tone, we only see action and comedy and no suspense, I admit that it made me laugh more than I expected but maybe it was not
the ideal path for this movie. In terms of creature design it's excellent, the new super predator looks great, but the plot was very disappointing.
As a fan of predator I think it's entertaining and fun but it´s a mediocre movie for sure.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie was plain average and had a stupid plot with many convenient things happening at a convenient time. They should have had more time focused on the first predator instead they killed him off so fast. The woman who is a biologist goes after the predator after seeing him kill a whole room and thinks that she can take it down even though they barely know much about the predator in the end she fails to capture the predator for obvious reasons while hes going on a killing spree murdering trained marines. I didn't even know what was going on half the time and for some reason the characters in the plot knew things that they shouldn't but they do to explain the plot which is "plot knowledge" I guess. The gore and some of the humor is good though to be honest but at some points the CJI on the big predator is stupid ugly. Basically in this movie the best character is the first predator the one with the classic look he has the most character and he is the smartest character in the movie and the funniest it's a shame that he had to endure such horrendous movie. If they would have removed the kid plot reversed the rolls of the predators toned down some of the jokes this could have been a 7/10 maybe a 8/10 if it focused more on the predator the first one as his plot is thrown out the window fast by dying so quickly. Overall though is an average movie if your looking for a movie that is a action horror then this ain't it this is a comedy action movie. Watch this movie if you want to see some people get mauled to death. Expand

It's a pain to see the predator killed so uselessly by another generic predator. The original predator (Armadira, behavior, strength) was very good. Better until the others, but only until that strange animal appeared 3 meters high ... ridiculous! I will not even mention the plot, because it simply does not.

And unfortunately I have not enjoyed a single predator sequel or spin off since then. Now before I went to see this movie I really tried to go into the film open minded and tried not to get my hopes to high. However I still don't think this is a good film, whether you want to view this as a dumb action movie or not I found myself medley entertained at some points. For starts I loved the cast, I'm a particular fan of Boyd Holbrook as an actor and I would love to see him more often in other films. The look of the predator is really good, the costume and production design is really good and this film had some really cool bloody predator kills. Besides that, I didn't find much else entertainment. This film has an extremely messy story and lots of events happen more based on coincidence. There also isn't any emotion put into any of the characters, people kill for the first time and almost don't seem to care, there isn't ever a sense of tension or fear. In that first film, there were very tense moments, there were quips and jokes but they weren't depended on, this film relies a lot on jokes and quips and doesn't offer any tension or actual stakes. So overall I'm very disappointed and hope that some better sequels come along. Expand

Thoroughly disappointing if you are a Shane Black fan. EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTING if you are a Predator fan.

Having grown up a huge fan of the original, I was excited to hear that Shane Black, an original cast member had been brought onboard to breathe fresh life into a promising franchise that has been squandered by subpar sequels and horrendously awful crossovers. I didn't set my expectations very high and wasn't expecting this to eclipse the brilliance and effectiveness of the original film, but it is a crying shame that this film could not even claw its way over the low bar of expectations I had set for it.

The movie surprisingly started out interestingly enough and I found myself enjoying it throughout the first two acts - but it is when the "Upgrade Predator" arrives on scene where the movie quickly devolves into a sloppy and incoherent mess with gaping potholes larger than a crater left by a downed predator ship.

Overall I find this movie to be the unfortunate victim of too much test screening, too many changes and re-shoots, and an overabundance of bad creative decisions by the writers. The film relies on too many (inexplicably incompetent) nameless commandos as cannon-fodder to notch up a large body count, the CGI kills look cheap and shoddy, and the stakes feel way too low when the emotional weight during key scenes is sacrificed in favor of cheap laughs. If that wasn't bad enough, the ending will have you rolling your eyes and groaning in your seat as you realize you have been suckered into another money-grabbing Marvel movie masquerading beneath a predator mask.

Avoid this movie unless you are a true predator fan desperate for another fix of Yautja-related chaos - and even then prepare to be left unsatisfied.

It's a mindless monster action movie. Sadly, most people are not fans of the creature and there is too much 90's action flick in this to appeal to modern audiences - more focus on action than smooth story line and good acting. Lots of cool predator weapons on display. If you're looking for award winning quality, you will not find it here. I was worried they would try to put too much comedy in this, and I didn't feel that was the case. You won't get some of the comedy if you haven't seen the original with Arnold.
I did like the amount of screen time the creatures got. In past movies, you only got to see glimpses of the Predator through most of the movie until the end when the hero and predator go toe-to-toe. That wasn't the case in this movie, a good amount of screen time where you get to soak in the nerdiness of the predator tech and weapons. I didn't think it was over-the-top like AVP Requiem and the ending hints and some potential future fun. However, it remains to be seen if there is a large enough audience of the franchise for the studio to continue making them; which, saddens me, 'cause I like the predator creature.

If you like mindless action and jokes that I guess are jokes by default, then this is all yours. If you enjoy a good sci-fi plot with things that make you think critically about the world this is not for you. A good film should make you feel something once you leave. A superhero film should make you feel heroic, happy, or more recently sad. A family movie should make you laugh. More specifically after I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man`s Chest I wanted to be a fracking pirate. I was eleven and was thinking of all the ways I could learn swordsmanship like they knew in the film. After this Predator film though, all I could feel was nothing. There are no character developments, all characters have one trope and run with it throughout the movie. Action is basic Hollywood action. There is a part where I think someone forgot to finish it and the predator looks like it came from Predator 2. This movie wants to have a talking point about the environment, evolution, violence, PTSD, veteran affairs, etc it is all just too much for an hour and 45 minutes. There are some cool shout outs to the other films in the series along with good CGI/prosthetics for the OG predator (AT TIMES). A morbid scene where two friends take each other out to end their suffering and it was shoot well. There is a defending of a kid with Asperger’s but then immediately gets called retarded. So, wasted opportunity there. Mindless action with a weak plot brings this movie down hard. That’s all the things I can mention without just going deep into spoilers and ranting about their dumbness. I really did like Predators, but I prefer the tone of this film. It matches more of the over-the-top tone of the original and 2. They do add a few more jokes than those two, and a little too many of them have a frat bro/trying-to-be alpha dog mentality that can be a little exhausting. Still overall, it's pretty funny. There are some really impressive and violent fights. Current film technology is utilized to have the Predators do things they couldn't in previous films.

The cast is all-around likable. Heck, I think this is the first time I found Olivia Munn fully utilized in a film.

Admittedly, the pacing can be a little uneven at moments. There are moments where the back-and-forth between characters could've been shorter and the scenes are rushed, including a death of a main character that's bkubj-and-miss. Also, the final scene setting up the sequel feels tacked-on and inorganic.

Listen, if you're not interested in a humorous Predator film than this won't be for you. Personally, I went to be mindlessly entertained, and I was.

This film is bland, poorly paced and completely lacking in any atmosphere. The first third of the film has a real issue in knowing where to focus, the second tries to make you care about the characters (you won't) and overall it feels like you are watching the TV movie version of the predator. Olivia Munn is supposed to be playing a biologist but tries to single handedly take down the alien and can apparently fire any gun given to her. If you’re a fan of the original predator, it is fair to say what you want in a new Predator movie is the Predator killing people, action, and grisly violence. This movie gives you all those things, without a doubt. However, where The PredatorIf you’re a fan of the original predator, it is fair to say what you want in a new Predator movie is the Predator killing people, action, and grisly violence. This movie gives you all those things, without a doubt. However, where The Predator suffers is in its pacing, it’s overly chaotic CGI fueled action sequences, and its poor character development. The characters for the most part are likeable, but their character development, or lack thereof, is mostly identifiable by quirks. For example, there is a character who tells jokes, there’s a character that has Tourette’s, and there’s a character that’s a bit creepy. This is all the development we get from these three characters, respectively named Coyle, Baxley, and Nettles. The only characters that have any sort of development are the main character, Quinn Mckenna, and a character named Nebraska Williams, and Quinn’s son, Rory. The action scenes are enjoyable in some parts, but they are mostly overly CGI-d and ridiculous. The only action sequence I was impressed with was the lab action sequence with the Predator. This is because the predator they used in this action sequence was fully practical with makeup and everything and there was little to no CGI used at all. The other, larger predator was completely CGI for all the scenes he was in, and he looked very fake. This completely takes the intimidation factor out for me. The only thing that felt intimidating was, you guessed it, the practical Predator because he looked real and convincing. The dialogue, for the most part, is smartly written and has some memorable lines here or there and a lot of the jokes land, but some don’t. Sometimes, the humor made me laugh out loud, but at a point it got to be a bit too much. Shane Black clearly wanted this Predator movie to have a more light-hearted tone, which is fine, but it felt a bit forced in places. However, Shane Black still displays his talent with dialogue and chemistry here and these are the only things that make me care at all for the characters. The Predator is entertaining for the first two thirds of the movie, but then ultimately devolves into a CGI action-fueled mess that made me wish it hadn’t gone in that direction. The movie’s relentlessly quick pace makes the movie go by quick, but it also feels jumbled as well. Basically, if you are a huge predator fan and you are curious about this movie, go see it, but if you were questioning it, don’t see it. Overall, The Predator is entertaining in many parts, but it is very inconsistent and not executed as well as it could’ve been. The Predator gets a 5/10 Expand

The movie is a comedy really, full of silly silly silly scenes where characters just quip at each other and make silly jokes. Nobody is really too bothered about aliens or dying - death is almost glorified here. The main guy seems to care very little for his life, the fact there is an 11 foot alien or his sons life. He just wants to make badass one liners and shoot guns.
The Predator (super) is full CGI and is honestly some of the worst CGI I have ever ever seen... this is meant to be a multimillion dollar project made in 2018!? Dont get me started on the Predator dogs.
The end scene is probably the best and would make for an interesting sequel - but this is unlikely as I suspect it will bomb at the box office.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So the terrifying interstellar hunters have been replaced with "super" aliens, that come to earth to abduct autistic kids??? and the only way to stop them is with the interstellar hunter equivalent of an iron man suit?? This movie is insulting to its predecessors, lore, and fans.

They shoot a space dog in the head and it becomes their best friend! The awesome OG predator get 5mins of screen time (in which it get owned twice) and is then replaced with a stupid looking cg "super" predator. The upgrade predator is more of a generic monster than a cunning, intelligent, and honorable advisory. The movies ultimate quest is to dismantle everything that made the predator one of the most legendary figures in all of syfy.
these aren't interstellar tribal hunters anymore. Now they travel through the cosmos to genetical modify themselves with alien DNA, and in order to improve there genetic make up they need to add the human gene for autism. and they gave us an ironman suit...

the plot is terrible. the characters are average, the acting is average, the writing is bad, the cg is bad, the action is average. I love predator, I'm a total fan boy, and i want them to keep making predator movies till the end of time. but fox needs to hit the reset button on this franchise and let someone who is smart, passionate, and a fan take the wheel and get the hell out of the way. there is so much creative freedom to be had in the alien and predator universe, its shameful that this is what they come up with.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Predator is what happens when moronic executives hire a comedy director to make an entry in an action/thriller franchise, then realise their mistake and force him to reshoot scenes, making things even worse. This movie is a freaking mess, a hodgepodge of different ideas, each ripped of from older entries in the franchise. So you have the suburban setting of AvP 2, the super predators from 2010' Predators, the shady Goverment Agency trying to capture the aliens from Predator 2 and of course, the heroes being hunted in the forest from the Original, which for some reason they cram it in the last 15 minutes of the movie.

I think this has to do with many people misunderstanding the original as being dumb, 80's fun. The plot of Predator 1 was simple, but not dumb. It was effective in what it tried to accomplish. Like most of Shane Black's scripts, The Predator lacks any kind of coherency and it also has that modern tendency to try to make fun of its source material, reaching almost The Last Jedi levels of disrespect to the themes of the first movie. Luckily, unlike Rian Johnsosn, Black is not a complete hack and he is able to write some good characters and banter between them. It was clear that this new cast will lack the chemistry of the original and it's kind of hard to sell this as a team of badasses when Olivia Munn is the only one of them with a jawline, but the movie did make me care enough about them when they meet their demise.

The action on the other hand is the worst in any movie in the franchise. Imagine the most bland and devoid of tension action in a Marvel movie, only with lots of gore. And that's not even the worst part. The greatest sin this movie commints is changing the lore of the Predators. After 5 movies where these creatures were simply sport hunters(hell, even this movie makes a big deal out of this) we find out that the reason they hunt us is to upgrade themselves. Oh, yeah, and there are some of them who want to save us from the others, as well as from Global Warming, because you need to have that shoved in a freaking Predator film too.

At best, this movie might entertain you if all you want is a dumb action sci fi with Yo Mamma jokes. At worst, it will make you wish you were watching AvP 2 instead.

Black played Hawkins in the classic original film and has since gone on to find success on the other side of the camera with hits like “Iron Man 3”, “The Nice Guys” and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”. Black has also written many genre action films so his take on the iconic Predator has been eagerly awaited by fans who are eager to see the series get back on track.
The film centers on a crashed Predator ship which is witnessed by an American Sniper on assignment named “McKenna” (Boyd Holbrook). While able to recover artifacts from the crashed ships escape pod, McKenna also sees his team brutally taken out by the pilot and soon finds himself targeted by a secret organization due to his knowledge of the otherworldly guest.
At the same time, a Biologist named Casey (Olivia Munn), is brought to a secret locale where she gets an up close encounter with the ship’s pilot in captivity and learns that a government organization has been tracking the visitors and that their visits have increased in recent years.
At the same time McKenna is ushered off to a bus full of unhinged soldiers who are to be locked away due to their numerous issues. Unbeknownst to his superiors; McKenna has mailed the recovered technology to his son who thanks to being on the Autism Spectrum, is able to figure out aspects of the tech which he believes to be a game.
This all leads to a series of brutal encounters as an enhanced Predator arrives and with two of the deadly creatures on the loose, the unhinged soldiers are largely the best hope humanity has of surviving what is to come.
While aspects of the plot seem a bit muddled and at times a bit to linear; the film for the most part works for what fans want and in many places gives them the sequel they have waited for. There is a lot of humor in the film which reportedly divided early test audiences but the action is as brutal and graphic as one would want and expect from the series.
The film does have some big gaps in logic such as how a Biologist can be so comfy and skilled with Assault Weapons and seems to have no issues throwing herself into combat situations and the larger plot points of the Predator objective is intriguing and will open up much debate amongst fans.
The last third of the film was reshot and you can tell at times how parts seem a bit out of synch from early parts of the film especially in the appearance of some characters whose look changes during the film which clearly indicates when segments of the film were shot.
I know the film will likely divide some fans who do not like the humor and wanted a more evade and survive style plot but Black has crafted an interesting opening chapter which is said to be the first of a planned trilogy. While far from perfect, “The Predator” does give fans some interesting characters and plenty of laughs to go with the action and is a worthy entry into the series as long as you are willing to overlook the issues and enjoy the ride.

Well cast and featuring a bevy of jaw-dropping action scenes, the movie is almost ceaselessly entertaining, save for a few moments where the narrative tread a bit too far into left field for my tastes. Everything happens so fast you don't have the time to generate any emotions about any of the events in the film. I was very disappointed. The comedy was sometimes funny but always out of place. The CGI for the new giant predator looked cheesy and turned the film into a cartoon. The script was ok but had many cringe worthy moments. The end of the film has zero emotional impact and is completely forgettable. Expand

The film is filled with quippy, quirky characters, cartoon/video game violence and a Swiss cheese plot that doesn't grate because the film is actually kind of fun.

What is that? Predator: The Sitcom?
Half of the time nothing is happening. Other half filled with stupid pointless jokes and recycled lines from the old movies. The cast sucks, universally. I guess everyone just plays bad and does not fit in

Half of the time nothing is happening. Other half filled with stupid pointless jokes and recycled lines from the old movies. The cast sucks, universally. I guess everyone just plays bad and does not fit in the movie at all. The predator sucks too, it looks cool, but is retarded as well. In the old movies, the predators were always way smarter and more powerful than all the humans and it took quite some effort to kill or survive one. In this movie that completely changed.

It feels like a group of interns wrote, directed and produced this lackluster catastrophe. It was so bad I almost walked out last night. From the bad acting, cringy dialogue, annoying stupid poorly written forgettable characters and their questionable decisions, CGI so bad that it looks like it's from a 2010-2013 alien video game cut scene, action scenes so boring and full of mindless explosions that it feels as if it's a bad Michael Bay film. Not to mention it's terrible pacing and a plot that's so all over the place the movie itself doesn't seem to realize what is. The jokes are so immature and unoriginal. I laughed at a few of them, but most of them seem like some 10 year old high acid said them. Hell even kids probably won't find this amusing. I found myself cheering for The Predator to kill all the characters and walk away with the boy. It would've been for the best, because his father the a dumbass. Stop making half ass cash grab films like these for a quick buck with no effort. If you're too incompetent to do so stay out of the show business. Expand

The film is a parody of a 'Predator' movie, it's a spoof of the franchise and the current mindset of studio executives with their "MCU, MCU, MCU" envy. The film wreaks of meddling, studio and test audiences.

Due to the re-shoots, there's plenty of barely finished CGI and it's hard to get too invested in some of the action sequences when the VFX look straight out of 'Star Trek Generations' and some creature CG that's borderline as bad as the VFX in 'An American Werewolf in Paris'. But, those were mid-90's movies, not a major release in 2018.

It's not just the rushed CG, the re-shoots have taken their toll and crippled the film both structurally and narratively, it's an absolute cluster mess, overflowing with pacing issues, tonal imbalances, massive continuity issues and plot holes. It is one of the worst edited movies I have ever seen put out as a major release. I have never had so many - "WTF? Who, when, how do you know that? You don't know that?! You weren't there or didn't see it so how do you know that?! No, you didn't read his file, you were there for 2 minutes!" - moments in a film for a long time. I spent a lot of it going in my head "oh, so they're over there now, weren't they just over there a minutes ago?", "hang on, where did they get all those guns? Where did they get the trucks? They were in the house, now they've got all that... what?" and the worst moment was, "where did they get that helicopter? How did they get that in less than two cuts?"

The acting is at worse, serviceable but there are some cracking turnouts by quite well known actors. (and I didn't even recognise 2 of them till I saw the credits!) Studio ADI delivers the goods on the practical FX's side although some of the CGI stuff looks a bit naff. The movie falls apart though with the script pacing and some bafflingly confused geography when it comes to the coincidences of places and the purposes they serve. Disappointed, but at least it's better then the last effort. Expand

Don't get the hate. The movie was a fun and dumb popcorn flick and nothing more. It was entertaining enough that I can say that it was worth the ticket.
