The movie follows some familiar plot trends (hide the party from mom, dad, and the college scouts), but still manages to provide laughs. It's originality comes from the pimp/escort theme, and because of that most of the humor is sex related. All in all it's a funny movie, but it's not the most intelligent thing in the world. Still it's an enjoyable film. Expand

Be sure to catch it for a good time at the movies! Two guys following their dream of a better life, with the aid of a millionaire's mansion, a bevy of beautiful girls and one wild ride of a party. The performances are all quite good, and the film offers more genuine laughs than many higher-budget films. http://thepoolboysmovie.com/ Expand

Roger Alex Sperling, Harvard-bound valedictorian, who loses his summer internship and heads to Los Angeles to work for his charming and successful cousin Roger. Unfortunately, Roger isn't quite the accomplished businessman he's made himself out to be-- he actually dropped out of Harvard, and now works as a pool boy. A series of mishaps force Alex and Roger to squat in the stunning mansion of one of Roger's clients, where they join forces with Laura, a local escort, to start an escort business. The company grows like wildfire as Alex and Roger get caught in more and more hilarious situations, from shotgun-wielding celebrities to bar mitzvahs to sadistic lesbian businesswomen, finally culminating in one giant party... but when Alex's parents and their Harvard-alum friends show up, they have to turn the bash into a Harvard event in order to save both the business and Alex's Not the best comedy I have seen, nor does it even come close. I felt like I was watching one of the many sequels to "American Pie". Had some funny moments. Maybe not enough. But still an OK watch. Nothing speacial, and the acting was good for some like Tom Arnold, Rachelle Lefevre, and Matthew Lillard. But the lead Brett Davern was stiff and not really that very good. First movie I have seen with him and with acting like that I don't know if I would see anymore of him. So give this movie a go if you want. Expand

Wow, he's special actor. So brilliant and I knew he was ever since I first caught wind of him in Scream. Now a Golden Globe later and his role in The Pool Boys you really get a sense of the actors dexterity and commitment to each role he plays. The Pool Boys is a hilarious movie that pushes the limits. Alex Sterling (Brett Davern), a young man who's at the pinnacle of his life. On one side he's running towards his beautiful bright future. And on the other, loosing his college scholarship... and with that his only chance at funding his education into the Ivy League. Now imagine being an 18 year old boy, having the hottest girls in the world at your beacon call, and tons of cash. And it's all because of Cousin Roger played by Matthew Lillard who concocts a brilliant scheme To Make You The Biggest Pimp Beverly Hills Has Ever Seen. Expand

The Pool Boys flew under the radar, but I am glad i picked it up for my viewing pleasure. TheThe Pool Boys flew under the radar, but I am glad i picked it up for my viewing pleasure. Lillard, who has always been one of my favorites, gives an excellent performance, and the rest of the supporting cast compliments him quite well. The story is completely improbable and for that I am knocking it down a bit. It is far from the greatest comedy ever made, but you can tell the guys who did American Pie were behind it. Characters, as mentioned above, were well developed and the soundtrack was unbelievable. If you are expecting a comedy as good as the first two American Pie's you'll come away disappointed, but if you go in with a clean plate it is easy to enjoy. Expand
