Makes for an awsome Gorefest collection. As a blood and guts horror film it is perfect, but as an overall I'd probably give it an 8

This film is a dream come true, packed with copious amounts of gore, original kills, some very creative and effective camera work, and a story that, while good in its own right, is simply fantastic for a slasher movie. Vinnie Jones is unnerving as the meticulous butcher, and he should go down as one of the greatest horror villains in a decade. The script can be a bit weak at times, as can character motivation and development, but on the whole it's easy enough to follow, very enjoyable, and drenched with tension. Oh, and gore. Lots and lots of gore. Leon's transformation throughout the movie, even if poorly motivated, is at least very artfully done. Well worth seeing, and a crime to miss at the $1 price tag if you're lucky enough to have one of the 100 theaters nationwide playing this movie near you. Expand

Went to see this based on a mild recommendation in the PodCouch Film podcast...I thought they were right that the film's dramatic arc was pretty weak, but I loved the gore scenes which were IMO why the movie was made in the first place. Good direction, too. Expand

Probably the best horror film in a while. Some of the gore scenes are over the top but definitely original - unlike the majority of Saw type cash-ins. There were some scenes I couldn't watch but some fight scenes made me laugh.

One of the few times I didn't have to lower expectations simply because it was a horror movie. Good adaptation of a classic short story.

This film was robbed in the distribution department. What gives? I don't understand why Midnight Meat Train didn't get a proper release in theaters. I don't understand why Midnight Meat Train didn't get a proper release in theaters. Relegated to the "midnight movie" in Denver six weeks after it was released? Yes, it's bloody. Yes, it's sick. Yes, it's twisted and unless you've read the short story, I'm guessing this train's end of the line will come as a surprise. Clive Barker is one psychotic fucker, that's for sure. See it on the big screen if you get the chance. Expand

Really great, one of the best adaptation of a Clive Barker's novel. Fun and scary, it's reminds me the Peter Jackson old gore movies.

A novel idea, solid performances, smart direction and a good script. Why Lion's Gate dumped this film is beyond me. If you like creative horror movies, you will enjoy this one.

Instead we get tripe like Saw 5 and that Valentines debacle... This film was fresh, and felt like a true Clive Barker classic. I hope this won't deter him from participating in future films, regardless of what Hollywood execs do like the morons at Lions Gate. So because this film was released more or less, straight to video, I give it higher marks. I highly recommend watching this film! Expand
