This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is nothing but a glorified feature length tech demo that looks pretty but lacks any emotion whatsoever. Simba's facial expression as he's processing the death of his beloved father is the same as it was earlier when he sang about wanting to be king.

Even the voice acting isn't as good as the original, with pretty much nobody being able to give half as good a performance as the 1994 cast did, including James Earl Jones in his role reprisal as Mufasa.

The only thing I enjoyed while watching this movie was the visual of photorealistic Scar straight up punching photorealistic Mufasa in the face in this movie's take on the iconic Mufasa death scene, and I get the feeling I didn't like it for the reasons they wanted me to like it.… Expand

This movie is just SOOO bad. Terrible CGI, some of the worst acting I've ever heard in my life. James Earl Jones, the man is a powerhouse actor. A legend... it sounds like he is reading the script, instead of acting it.

On a technical level this is impressive, the cgi is really out there and realistic which shows alot of invested effort on their part. Firstly it's star studded cast namely Beyoncé do horrifically at their voice work that beyond the awkwardness the cgi provides her acting adds another layer of lifelessness. She's near expressionless sounding like they are reading off a page. Now onto the next issue,the one I had previ commended for it's accuracy - the cgi. The choice to make the animals realistic was a really bad one that makes the film feel like an animal documentary in an alternate universe where they all speak. It removes you from the investing in what the story is attempting to say and Instead leaves you bored,which is my last point. This movie is boring. From it's pace ,writing and end you will be damned walking away with a positive experience.… Expand

This is 100% CGI, so anyone claiming it was "live action" need some help. This is a shallow echo of the original, and not worth watching even as a time wasters. Just see the original before they decide to "fix it".

There is nothing redeeming about it, literally just watch the original film because it absolutely **** all over this one. If you like this movie, that's fine I suppose, but you have a fundamental lack of understanding of film in general. It's perfectly ok being dumb, you just can't act like your opinion matters when such glaring issues are in this hack of a movie. 200 million dollars and they still have such basic issues, what a joke.… Expand

This was almost a shot-for-shot remake of the animated version, they changed almost nothing. Only some dialogue and a few extra scenes were made, nothing else was different. I felt Scar should have been played by Jeremy Irons again as it just didn't mix right with Chiwetel Ejiofor, an amazing actor otherwise. While I praised Jungle Book and found Aladdin to be a surprisingly good film, those movies were executed uniquely so those films worked well. There's no point of watching this when you have the original. That actually showed emotions, was 30 minutes shorter, had great songs, and wasn't souless. This is the exact opposite.

Ah. My arch-nemesis in the form of a movie. We meet at last. This movie is a travesty. Don’t watch it. I would just like to leave it at that, but I guess I’ll elaborate. I guess first I will address the photo-realistic CGI elephant in theAh. My arch-nemesis in the form of a movie. We meet at last. This movie is a travesty. Don’t watch it. I would just like to leave it at that, but I guess I’ll elaborate. I guess first I will address the photo-realistic CGI elephant in the room, the animation. Not live-action, there’s only one live-action shot in the entire movie. This is an animated film. And the animation is technically some of the most impressive ever put to screen. Seriously, this makes Life of Pi look like Madagascar by comparison. It was absolutely mesmerizing to watch...when the animals weren’t talking. Whenever they were talking, it was awkward and laughably bad at times. What everyone has been saying is true, realistic animals cannot convey the emotions necessary for a story like this on their faces. In some scenes, I actually had trouble telling the characters apart or even understanding what was going on in the scene because of the lack of emotion on the characters’ faces. That’s a huge problem. I think Zazu got it the worst. Seriously, the animatronic birds in the Enchanted Tiki Room are more expressive than he is in this film! His face is frozen in a permanent frown, just like the real bird he’s based on. The design does not fit the personality of the character at all. Same goes for most of the other characters. They were just off-putting. Speaking of the characters, how is the voice acting? While the film does feature a (mostly) talented cast, the dialogue in this movie is beyond awkward and the line delivery is just awful. I don’t know how they possibly messed that up, but they found a way! It’s very stilted and unnatural. The line delivery coupled with the characters’ faces made me laugh out loud during Mufasa’s death scene. Funniest **** I’ve seen in a movie all year. It’s so bad, it’s good! Look up the scene on YouTube, you’ll be in for a laugh! As for the story, it’s exactly the same as the original except they really nerfed the hyenas. They weren’t funny and they weren’t scary. They were boring. Eric André and Keegan-Michael Key are absolutely wasted in this movie. They also cut out the best song, Be Prepared, and cut most of Rafiki’s interaction with Simba, the best scene! As for the comedy, it was just boring at best and absolutely obnoxious at worst. I’m not the biggest fan of Timon and Pumbaa, but I’ll take the originals over these guys any day! Literally all of their jokes are self-referential. Sometimes the jokes don’t even make sense unless you’ve seen the original, which you really should not do in a remake! As for the music, the score is just as amazing as the original but the songs are pretty bad, honestly. I already did a whole post about it months ago so I’ll try not to repeat myself, but they are either butchered, cut, shoehorned in, copied or copy-pasted! The new Beyoncé song especially sticks out like a sore thumb. Many of the most memorable scenes from the original are dumbed-down and heavily simplified to make them more realistic, I guess, but it just goes to show how traditional animation is the only medium this film can work in. In the 1940s, Disney was experimenting with giving the characters in Bambi a more realistic look. They decided against it and made them more stylized because the characters were not expressive enough to convey the emotions of the story. They knew doing something like this was a bad idea in the 40s! This movie is a mistake! I think that’s all I have to say about this movie. It’s just bad. Nothing about it works as a film. Just look up the opening scene on YouTube. That will give you just as much enjoyment as you would get from watching the whole movie. But yet again, just like Aladdin, it seems like most people disagree with me and love this movie. It’s actually now the highest-grossing animated film of all-time. I can’t even get angry at this movie anymore. It just makes me sad. Is this what Disney has become? What was once the company that defined the industry with their creative new takes on classic stories is now just regurgitating their old movies for profit? That just depresses me, honestly. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Oh well. At least Mulan looks kind of cool. Anyway, that’s all I have to say about this POS. Don’t bother, just watch the original. That’s what I’m going to do, and I’m never going to think about this movie again.… Expand

It had parts where the characters can express emotion but it still didn't give the fell like the older one did. Timon and the Hyenas where the characters that expressed most of the emotion. You don't get the feeling of fright when the stampede is running toward Simba, you can feel sadness when his dad died but it didn't show expression like what it needed to equal to how he sounds. Then there is the scene where Simba says "no" while mufasa is falling the older one had emotion that it makes it more saddening than this one. Even with the crying in the older one. When he sings Hakuna Matata, in this one is it so uncanny it looks like he is trying to break his jaw.… Expand

Je mets 2 quand même pour la réalisation époustouflante... plus précisément les effets spéciaux puisqu'il n'y a que cela à dire vrai : on baigne (en effet !) dans un photo-réalisme particulièrement saisissant et magnifique.

Pour le reste, le Roi Con nous les casse sévèrement avec sa niaiserie très bon marché (tout l'inverse des effets spéciaux) qui nous explique que si les lions peuvent éventuellement manger des antilopes, les lions pour leur part, lorsqu'ils meurent, se transforment en herbe mangée par les antilopes... Euh, ouais. De toute façon, il ne fallait pas s'attendre à autre chose : Disney, c'est pour les enfants mais c'est aussi extrêmement abêtissant et le Roi Con ne fait pas exception à la règle : c'est un film très bête. The problem with adapting a cartoon into an almost shot-for-shot remake with much better graphics is that much of the charm and pathos of the original is lost in the effort to represent true-to-life animal forms on screen. The CGI faces are impenetrable ciphers. It’s hard to tell what characters are feeling at any given moment. Is Simba mad? Embarrassed? Wistful? I can’t tell because his eyes convey nothing. Honestly sometimes I couldn’t tell whether I was even looking at Simba or if I was confusing him with the other little lion cub. It’s hard to tell when characters are even speaking and who they’re speaking to. There are a few disorienting moments in the first half when the mouths of characters don’t move in sync with the dialogue and it feels so **** frustrating to follow along. Is Mufasa giving a voice over or is he talking to his son in the savanna? Make up your goddamn mind, Disney. Sometimes it looks like the hippos and giraffes are singing along to I Just Can’t Wait To Be King and then other times it just looks like their jaws are hanging slack while they drink water.

I think that confusion is representative of a larger concern by the producers about the direction to take the Disney remakes. Earlier remakes have come under fire for spending too much time deviating from their source material or trying to correct the sins of the past (Jackson McHenry’s article below does a brilliant job with this). As a result, Lion King seems like it’s taken a more conservative approach, cleaving closely to the original (adding very little except Soraya’s nauseatingly unnecessary new lines: in the one the script trips over itself to explain how she can be both patrolling the borders for hyenas AND in the same shot as Simba to acknowledge that she was, indeed, just off camera doing a strong lioness’s work even though she, currently, in order for the scene to track with the original film, is not actually there. In the second added line, she needlessly tells the other lions to attack Scar long after an order need be raised). The overall effect is one in which the remake has very little to add a lot to lean on. One NPR review calls it essentially “a safari-themed karaoke video.”

Which isn’t to say that the film is a total loss, because at the beginning you get to see the first trailer for Mulan on the big screen.

Jackson McHenry over at Vulture has some cool things to say about the way that Disney is white-washing it’s gay-coded villains in the remakes.… Expand

Walking into the new Lion King, I was excited. One of my favorite childhood movies was being given the “live action” treatment, and the marketing for this film had been through the roof. However, when I left the theatre that one fateful night, I only felt disappointment, confusion, and, I have to say, rather depressed. The signs that this movie would end up being a disaster were all there: most of the trailers were shot-for-shot from the original, the Rotten Tomatoes score was, at the time, 52%, and the previous two Disney live-action remakes, Dumbo and Aladdin, were unpleasantly substandard to say the least. But this abysmal effort by the Mouse House may be the worst remake of them all, and that’s due to the main draw to this film: its visual effects.
The Lion King is a 2019 American photorealistic computer-animated movie directed by Jon Favreau, and distributed and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a remake of the 1994 2-D animated movie of the same name. Donald Glover stars as Simba, a prince lion who is exiled from the Pride Lands after his uncle, Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor) kills his brother, the king (James Earl Jones), and convinces Simba that he was to fault. After reuniting with his childhood friend (Beyoncé), she persuades him to come back to the Pride and take his rightful place as king.
The Lion King was announced soon after the critical and commercial success of Favreau’s The Jungle Book (2016), which used the same technology to recreate it’s CG animals, which were realistic looking and had clear facial expressions.
It seems, however, that Disney thought it wasn’t realistic enough, because not a single animal in The Lion King expresses a shred of emotion. In the original, you can tell what each character is all about just by looking at the expressive animation, but every character in the remake shows the same expression the entire time. The CGI is also a detriment to the backdrops of the film. The iconic opening scene with vibrant, expressive colors and loud, african singing is replaced with a rather bland sunrise with heavily toned down colors and a much less loud and powerful rendition of the Academy Award nominated song, “The Circle of Life.” Speaking of songs…
Every song in this movie is poorly executed, with the choreography being bland and repetitive, and the songs having less energy than the original. While in the original, the songs were presented with bright colors and a grand, cinematic spectacle, with animals jumping and dancing from location to location, the remake just has them walking around. Two songs in particular were especially butchered: “Be Prepared” and the Academy Award winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” The former was shortened down to around thirty seconds and has Scar talking in a sing-song voice, while the latter is rushed and is set during mid-day. In fact, many things seemed rushed, as the pacing in this film is erratic. While the first act seems to drag on and on, the second act seems to speed by, adding pointless side-characters that don’t get expanded upon. This makes the third act less satisfying, as we, the audience, don’t see the main character go through as much hardship. Although this film is mostly devoid of quality, there are still many things that I did like. Other than Beyoncé, whose performance is distractingly fake-sounding, the voice-work in this movie is surprisingly great, notably Seth Rogan, Billy Eichner, and Chiwetel Ejiofor who play Pumba, Timon, and Scar respectively. The sound editing is also fairly impressive, as well as the lighting, and additional scoring by Hans Zimmer. However, none of these things can even begin to save this film. The only reasons to remake a piece of entertainment are either to make it into a different language, to add your own spin on the classic tale, or to improve upon the original. The Lion King does none of these things. It’s still in english, almost every plot-point is the exact same, and the flaws of the original are still present. Three more live action remakes are on the way: Maleficent 2, Lady and the Tramp, and Mulan. While my expectations are low, I still have a shimmer of hope that they’ll at least be better than this.

Had little faith in this live action since the day in was announced. Sadly, I was right, since this version, despite good cgi, is lacking the charm and dramatic quality of the original.

I absolutely despise this abomination of a "film". It just doesn't seem to try anything or original in the slightest, and just seems to be copying the original beat for beat. Before I completely beat the ever-loving crap out of this film, II absolutely despise this abomination of a "film". It just doesn't seem to try anything or original in the slightest, and just seems to be copying the original beat for beat. Before I completely beat the ever-loving crap out of this film, I just want to say, if you enjoy this film; that's fine by me. Anyway, the realistic characters are a pleasant to your eyes. However, that is the problem. The characters seem a lot less expressive and emotive. If you look at the original Scar, then you see his whole demeanour and callous regard. The new one looks like an ordinary lion with a faint scar around his eye.

The film painfully mirrors the original film as well. To create a re-telling of an already originating story, you need to stick the source material while implementing your own ideas into the mix. An example would be, Mowgli (directed by Andy Serkis). This film keeps the basic plot of the original as Mowgli needs to return to the "Man Village" or Sheer Khan will kill him. It most of the same characters but gives it a darker tone and even creates whole new plot points never seen before. The Lion King 2019 can't seem to handle new ideas or creative story-lines.

In conclusion: The movie is a watered down, simplistic, painfully mimicking cash grab that tries to devour your nostalgia.… Expand

This is seriously one of the worst Disney movies of all time. I respect the effort it takes to make it photo realistic but it does the storytelling no favors at all. In a word? Anemic. The 3 minute musical number was shortened to about 1 minute and the visuals are outright BORING. The only reason it was even included is because the internet got upset about it 2 years ago when it was reported the song wasn't going to be included. They should have just stuck with that if this was their answer. The hyenas served as comic relief in the original but in this monstrosity they are just another obligation on the checkbox of things that must be done. Their idea of a "joke" is to have one sit too close to the other over and over again. That's all the humor they could muster for the hyenas in this version. Oh and of course it's 2019 so the female hyena just HAD to be known as the boss. Disney sure does love beating us over the head with this crap. Just a terrible movie, don't waste your time.

Oh also worth mentioning that the movie loves shooting scenes in awkward angles. Made for a very jarring experience at times. I'm shocked on how bad the whole thing was. Hats off to Hans Zimmer as usual.… Expand

It was visually stunning, but fails to capture the raw emotion and heart of the original animated version. There were a couple of issues I had with the live-action remake. First, 3/4's of the film sounded like the actors phoned in their lines. An exception to this is the musical number, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," which sounds like Beyonce Knowles and Donald Glover were actually in the studio. Second, there were a surprising amount of lines, musical numbers, and jokes that were cut from the live-action remake that was in the original animated film. The previous, coupled with the lack of facial expressions from the photo-realistic animals, made the film feel hollow and dull. Lastly, I was unimpressed by the amount of energy, life, and charisma the acting cast put into the characters. Especially Chiwetel Ejiofor who played a very flat Scar (I missed the sassy, sarcastic drama-king version that Jeremy Irons portrayed). The exceptions to this are James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Billy Eichner (Timon), and Seth Rogen (Pumbaa). The skit where Timon starts singing "Be Our Guest" from Disney's, Beauty and The Beast, was terrific and hilarious.… Expand

The singing is good, but the songs are not as good as the original. There were 2 original songs though which were nice. But some songs just don't work like "be prepared" and "can you feel the love tonight". They sing "can you feel the love tonight" during the day. They don't even really sing the best villain song "be prepared". The only really good thing I can say about this movie is the CGI. But that doesn't just automatically make this movie good. You can dress up a dish all you want but if it tastes bad dressing it up isn't going to change that. More importantly because of this realistic CGI you lose emotional facial expression and because of this the actors had to portray all of the characters emotions just through their voice. This wasn't enough most of the time. This movie just isn't good it's lazy it does everything the same way except losing what made the original so great. If you just want to watch lion king just watch the original even now it still looks amazing because of it's beautifully hand drawn animation. These live action Disney remakes never live up to the original or even come close and this is just another one of those except probably the worse one I've seen this year.… Expand

Normally we review one new release per show but with this being a remake, we decided to watch and review both the new and the old "The Lion King". The remake is so lacking in life, energy, humor and appealing music. In short, it's less of everything when compared to the 1994 original with one exception: it's more realistic. And added realism doesn't equate to a better story. In this case, the original animated version was perfectly fine but Disney knew they'd earn a nice profit from redoing it with new technology so they did it. It's like my view of the "Aladdin" remake: the only reason it was done was for money. But "The Lion King" in CGI is even a worse remake than "Aladdin" because the remake sucked the life and fun out of the story, especially the hyenas! In the animated tale, the trio were at times hilarious, at times menacing, but always more lively and interesting than the CGI version. Shame on you, Disney, for taking the easy way out (again) and instead of giving us new story lines, fresh characters and new plots, you take the path of least resistance and slap new technology on the same story and omit classic songs like "Circle of Life" and leave the audiences uninspired and at times bored. Very shameful indeed. I'm not paying another cent to watch anymore of Disney's CGI remakes and I don't think anyone should. Moviegoers deserve better than that.… Expand

Originals always seem to be the best. This lacks the warmth and magic of the original. Beyonce's voice is not melodic, and unfortunately, she sort of ruined the entire show with her singing. The 1994 version will always be the true KING.

This remake should never have happened. There were *some* beautiful scenes, such as the opening and closing shots of Pride Rock, but it was a bad movie. It was emotionally flat, had no rhythm, no energy, ripped away key moments, and was altogether a lazy venture. (I personally could not get past the lifeless voice acting.)

What Disney needs to do is make these classics more accessible to younger generations while focusing on being creative and less greedy. Let the classics be available for streaming--4k, 3d, Hulu, with ads, without, etc. Lower the cost of the Blu-Rays--they're outlandish. (The Lion King costs $20 to rent on Amazon Prime, and I've not once seen it on Netflix.)

The CGI film will look dated in 5 years, whilst the animation film will not age. "Wanting to be true to the original but also bring it to 2019" is a big fat lie. None of these recent remakes are warranted. Disney is depriving this generation of quality and ripping people off in a lazy and arrogant way. Disney, you need to know that you are failing at this. The Lion King was perfectly completed in 1994. I don't know, make a Lion King rollercoaster if you want to keep The Lion King alive. Stop with this crap. Be original.… Expand

As The Lion King was my childhood favourite, it was greatly disappointing to watch this cash grab undermine the original masterpiece. The only highlights were the baby animals, and possibly "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." The only positive comment I can give it is: impressive animation. But as it will be dated in ten years, it's not enough to redeem the movie beyond a pale, wan version of the original masterpiece I grew up with.… Expand

The voice acting with most of the characters was very cringey, they chose Beyoncé when they know she’s not a good actor at all. They chose Donald and I don’t know why! The CGI was iffy in my opinion. If you're going to remake what's pretty much a near-perfect movie in every aspect, you must TRY really hard to make it be at least as good as the original, but it seems that with this remake they didn't even TRY. This movie is completely pointless: The exact same story, the exact same songs, the exact same sequence of events, sometimes even to the point of being the exact same shots (Just watch the opening, it's literally taken shot by shot from the animated version), really it seems that they didn't even try this time, it's laughable.

Say goodbye to the vibrant color palette and the expressiveness of the characters. Sure the hyperrealistic visuals looks stunning but they don't fit the characters: WHY ARE THEY REALISTIC ANIMALS!? THEY CAN'T EMOTE FOR SH*T. I swear that if you watch the movie with the sound off you will not tell what the characters are supposed to feel, who thought of remaking The Lion King in this style!?

Some minor changes are completely pointless, like how they turned the female hyena (I don't remeber her name) into a serious and menacing leader...Why? They turned Scar into a boring and generic evil character. In the original Scar had a lot more charisma and personality and here he's just evil, his line delivery is boring and he sounds like annoyed all the time. And there are TWO MORE FART JOKES, seriously!? While in the original there was only one and that was the worst moment of the movie, here there are two more, oh my god. Some more extra shots to pad the runtime (although I thought that the sequence of how Rafiki found out that Simba is still alive was cool...I guess)

I didn't expect anything from this remake and somehow managed to disappoint me anyway, this is an awful movie that is an insult to the original, they couldn't even remake The Lion King right.… Expand

Sadly depressing story of betrayal, violence, killing. While there were a couple of (very) brief feel-good moments, as a public middle school teacher, I believe this is not a film for young children.

Storyline is exact duplicate of original. Characters couldn’t capture the magic of the original ones. We took our daughter, my wife and I actually slept thru some of it. Glad I am an A-list with AMC I would have hated paying $45.00 to see this.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the original film a lot and I like Jon Faverou but both don’t mix well together. Here are the few positives. Obviously the film looks visually impressive but that leads to some problems later. Most of the voice cast does a fine job. Especially Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, and John Oliver. That’s where the positives end. Here are the negatives. This is essentially a shot for shot remake of the original film. There is almost nothing new except a new song which is played in the background and extended scenes of pointless scenery and a single piece of Simba’s hair flying across the desert. I give some credit to the other live action remakes for at least trying to do something different, even if they didn’t work but this film does almost nothing new at all. It played it safe which was the wrong direction. Some of the voice acting isn’t great. James Earl Jones sounds like he wasn’t even trying. It sounds like he recorded all of his lines in one take and then went home. Chiwetel Ejiofor makes Scar seem like a pathetic loser. He just fails to capture that spine tingling and energetic performance of Jeremy Irons. The songs besides Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight just are underwhelming especially Be Prepared which for some reason was cut short. The musical score is fine but it feels like they just copy and pasted the score from the original instead of making new renditions of the score. Even if the CGI is impressive, it also serves to the film’s detriment. You can’t relate to the characters because the visual effects don’t allow them to convey any emotion. An example would be Mufasa’s death. The actor voicing young Simba does a good job conveying his grief with his voice but Simba literally has a blank stare on his face the entire time. This is a problem throughout the entire film. The animals express almost no emotions. That’s the beauty of the animation style of the original. Because it was animated, the animators had free liberty to make the animals express in whatever way they wanted. Another problem would be that some of the more important moments are shorter in this film than the original. The stampede scene was about 5 minutes while in this one it feels shorter which is odd because the film is almost 30 minutes longer than the original. This all begs the question. What was the point of this film? Obviously money but there’s no point to the film. It’s just the same thing that is somehow almost 30 minutes longer. Overall, The Lion King is visually impressive but fails at recapturing the beauty, scope, and emotional weight of the original animated film. I give The Lion King (2019) a 1/10.… Expand

Filme escuro, mal aproveitado. Não vemos um desenvolver maior do personagem Scar, Sarabi continua esqueci e ganha uma cena a mais que no caso é medonha pelo tipo de coisa que acontece, Nala continua sendo só a Nala e o filme continua igual, igual, nenhuma mudança, nada agregável. O filme não explora nada, é uma compilado frame a frame da versão de 1994.
Sei também que muitos fãs queriam ver exatamente isso, mas deveriam existir mudanças porque isso apenas acostuma a Disney a não criar mais nada novo, coloca 10 falas novas de 10 segundos, troca algumas conotações de frases para os dias de hoje, continua os personagens iguais quando talvez contar um pouco mais da história deles faria sentido, exclui e adiciona musicas desnecessárias... Até quando Disney? Até quando gente? Cobrem mudanças, cobrem histórias, qualquer mudança que fosse, qualquer coisa realmente agregável que tivesse seria bom. Mas é apenas um filme sem cor, sem vida, sem graça. Você que ainda não foi, veja o seu VHS verde, ou seu DVD e espero lançar em alguma site depois!… Expand

Showing the strength of Mufasa but also his friendly side (his friendship with Zazu, how he respects and hugs Rafiki, that he taught Simba how to pounce). Even the opening scene wasn’t the same. Why would you alter that? The huge rising sun in tune with the music that gives almost everyone goosebumps. The new one you see trees with a slightly lit up morning sky and then a small sun appears off to the side that isn’t in sync with the music. Mufasas personality doesn’t sound the same even though it’s still James Earl Jones’ voice. It’s different somehow. The hyenas are not the same. They don’t make jokes and laugh at themselves like “make mine a cub sandwich” then laugh hysterically at their own jokes. They eliminated Ed, the one who doesn’t speak, just laughs. Timon isn’t flamboyant or half as funny as the original. The hula scene in the original was fast paced and funny to distract the hyenas. The new one he slowly sings “Be our Guest”?? No action and not as fun. In fact, ALL of the new characters (including Beyoncé) sound like they are just reading from a script and it’s really mundane and forced. None of them are in character and flow like the original. There’s no sass or wit. The music is boring. It’s a huge disappointment. Rafiki catches Simbas hair and knows immediately it’s him. In the original, he knows the scent, but it takes him a minute to figure it out and when he does, he’s ecstatic. Not in the remake. There is no image of Mufasa in the clouds to guide Simba to remember who he is. Rafiki doesn’t give him a lesson about how the past can hurt with his stick. Simba doesn’t hug Rafiki like his father did which is also symbolic to how Simba is like his father. I don’t understand why Disney would eliminate these bonds and characters that we all love and change it to make what is a visually stunning movie into something I will never want to see again.… Expand

Only the visuals are good this is just a cashgrab. When the guy died the facial expresion was just a mounth open and that is that why in carton you can make lions cry and dance a **** like that but not in a movie.
