The critics must have taken a payoff on this one. There's no explanation for nearly anything that happens in this film (and a great deal of it is confusing). The most boring piece of crap masquerading as a thriller I have endured since M. Night Shyamalan's Signs. By the time anything actually HAPPENS ( a good 20 minutes in), I no longer gave a damn what happened to any of these stupid people. I give it 1 star for the fact that it was in my On Demand package and not something I ponied up eight bucks to see. If the ending redeems it, my apologies. I gave up with half an hour left to go. The Last Winter is set in exactly same setting as 80's cult The Thing, but it is focused on more psychological aspects then on the alien parasite. Which ultimately sucks the juice out of it.
