Well apparently it did, but wait there's more, this isn't just any sequel, it's a prequel sequel. Starring Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron, two actresses who are far better than this movie, and then we have Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain who quickly become a joke due to their horrendous accents. Honestly what holds this movie together are the dwarfs, by far the best thing in this frozen sibling rivalry mess of a movie that gave its plot twist away in the trailer. Not recommended, please don't pay to see this you'll regret it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Do not waste your time. This movie is not at all what you think it is going to be. The whole trailer is basically the last 10 mins of the movie. I thought this was a prequel and in some ways it is, but then it is a sequel and it is quite confusing because the trailer is false in every way. Also in the trailer Chris Hemsworth's character mentions how "her sister is the only one who can defeat her" but he never says this in the movie. This movie is beyond confusing. Do not watch. I am trying to save you from 2hrs and 3mins of your life being ruined. Expand

Snow White and the Huntsman was just okay, but how did we get a spin-off (or prequel whatever) that talks about the Huntsman only end up this bad? The answer is watch it and you'll take deep note why.

I'm just getting a bit confused. Instead of calling it a sequel, then why is it a prequel? Can't Hollywood just name one Huntsman movie for pete's sake? I wanted Huntsman: Winter's War to be the best Snow White movie since the first. Oh wait,I'm just getting a bit confused. Instead of calling it a sequel, then why is it a prequel? Can't Hollywood just name one Huntsman movie for pete's sake? I wanted Huntsman: Winter's War to be the best Snow White movie since the first. Oh wait, they lied because there's no Snow White in this sequel. Maybe it's because Kristen Stewart decided to chose indie movies instead of making another sequel to the decent Snow White And The Huntsman after an ongoing altercation between both Stewart and director of the first film, Rupert Sanders not only because of their off-set relationship causes Stewart and Sanders off the project. But it seems to me like you want to take a page out of Disney, right? Wrong. The Huntsman: Winter's War is arguably the worst sequel of 2016 (allegedly, Allegiant takes that dishonor). The cast looked pretty good (except for Hemsworth because he can bring down the hammer in both Thor and The Avengers movies, but as a solo movie actor... well, he's still working on it.) but the accents by both Jessica Chastain (Scottish) and Chris Hemsworth (Irish) are terrible. I don't wanna disrespect Charlize Theron by the way. Last year, Furiosa was the ultimate scene stealer that melted my heart in the rebooted Mad Max: Fury Road (she needs her own movie right now called Furiosa, the same name as her character) Emily Blunt is very awesome but my problem is, this movie doesn't have any potential with a decent all-star cast but no K-Stew involved which is sad because I thought she did an excellent job as Snow White.

The story is sometimes lacking and dull makes me think of Jack and the Beanstalk with little less flair. Although I do get a bit praise or its use of CGI-special effects and a wonderful set of costume designs featured in the movie like Theron's set pieces as Elsa the Snow Queen (which taken the page from last year's season of Once Upon A Time). However, the 'prequel sequel' thing becomes stagnant because people didn't seemed to care if it's still going to be as a sequel or just make something different and change it to an origin story that come just years before Snow White. Besides it just already came out despite competing against Disney's "Jungle Book" remake, the results were underwhelming. Winter's War is poorly-executed, bad timing to release it now instead of the summer movie season, and after years of troubled production issues, it came a little too late and just like last year's big turd of a sci-fi bomb "Jupiter Ascending," it'll be a matter of time if this is another case of box office poison since movies that should've released during the summer pushed back to the Spring is a bad idea.

In short, I'll just save my money and because I cannot wait for Captain America: Civil War to come out because I've already ordered tickets through the Fandango app. As for The Huntsman: Winter's War, better safe than sorry because this is the absolute worst movie of 2016. So if you prefer skipping this movie (I did), I rather rent Snow White and the Huntsman first.

Amazing costumes, great cgi, explosive (in a good way) cast. Hans Christian (the creator of the original Ice Queen) would be very proud. There's some mutual respect about the character. Forget Frozen, go read some books and educate yourself.

Winter's War is a slow, unnecessary film that accomplishes nothing. Besides the fact it is a total rip of Frozen, the acting is laughable, the story makes zero sense and is honestly one of the most boring films of the year.

Okay at points. The movie could of been so great but with a incohesive story and with great actors not utilized to there potential especially Emily Blunt acting like Eddie Redmayne from Jupiter Ascending. But the CGI was real good.

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" is a total disaster. The story is weak, the characters are lame, and the cgi is awful. The things I do for Jessica Chastain.... I love her enough to sit through this.

Lord the Rings was a massively popular trilogy, and there are lots of Fairy Tales to sex up, so why not make a dark and brooding sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman- featuring lots of cool special effects and The Huntsman! Why not indeed?Lord the Rings was a massively popular trilogy, and there are lots of Fairy Tales to sex up, so why not make a dark and brooding sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman- featuring lots of cool special effects and The Huntsman! Why not indeed? To be fair, 'Snow White and the Huntsman' was a reasonable film, if a little overdone, but it left little scope for a sequel and so the makers of this one had to invent new characters, and literally resurrect old ones to form the basis of the story.

This however just fell flat. They basically decided to make a test tube baby with Lord of the Rings and Frozen, peppered with some unnecessary language and sex thrown in to make it seem 'grown up' and 'badass'.
Visually, it took after its Epic Fantasy dad (the Snow Queen's habitation more than a passing resemblance to Edoras, combined with Isengard and a couple of pointy tower thingies nicked from Peter Jackson), with a few shots that seemed like direct copies. Add a lot of fight scenes against an assortment of ugly mythical beasties, and you have the overused fantasy combo.
Emily Blunt (who is a good actress) was basically wasted here as the Live Action version of Elsa, right down to her ice-coloured costumes, and clever defense strategy of firing sharp icicles.

The impressive CGI, however, did not really make up for the shallow plot, poor characterization and hideous fake accents from the lead characters. Ham Caledonian-Irish is bad enough, but mumbling in said ham accent- ugh. Without subtitles, it was nigh on impossible to actually hear what the Hero and heroine were saying half the time- not that they said much worthwhile. Yeah, its all about lurv- lurv conkers all Laddie- and apparently giving someone jewelry when skinny dipping in a convenient pool makes a marriage.
Maybe that's why they don't allow Jewellery in public swimming pools. You might come back hitched!

Maybe not such a great plan, the resulting offspring might be the next Fairytale Adaptation. Cinderella with Goblins, vampires, foul-mouthed dwarves and a red-haired warrior woman called Merida- fighting Orcs and the White Witch in Dol Goldur.
