A gut-bustingly funny movie. There were some really great moments, but there also were some that fell flat. The whole movie was a pompous ride through the night that never was, and I enjoyed it. Pure comedy. Loved it from the first to the last, the direction was in some ways unique, but not the only one of its kind. It was worth the wait to watch this movie, the trio couldn't have been more perfect.

One of my favorite comedies of all time. Purely for entertainment. Not a kids movie whatsoever.

Pretty much every scene generates laughter. The entire theater roared for most of the flick.

This really pleasantly surprised me when I saw it at the theatre. It certainly lived up to its hype, and made overnight superstars of both Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper. I can't really think of anything bad to say about this film it doesn't even start off slow or get boring towards the end like some comedies do.
The Hangover is about Doug (Justin Bartha) who is about to get married so he decides to have a stag party with 3 of his friends in Las Vegas. But when they wake up after the stag party with pounding headaches that make it impossible to remember anything from the night questions start to arise like, why is there a tiger in the bathroom? why is there a baby in the cupboard? And most importantly where's the groom? Recovering from the worst hangover ever the 3 friends embark on a mission to discover what happened last night and hopefully find the groom before it's too late. But this mssion leads them down a path of drunken weddings, taser guns and stolen police cars.
The film gets you interested straight away with an opening scene telling you what happens near the end of the film. This scene shows the 3 groom's friends telling the bride that they've lost her future husband! This scene gets you interested because you start to wonder were the groom is and weather or not they'll find him. This scene is also interesting because it introduces a theme of mystery which makes the film appeal to a wider range of viewers.
My favourite scene has got to be when Alan, one of Doug's friends, (Zach Galifianads) finds a tiger in the bathroom. This scene is very funny because when his response shows just how stupid and hungover he is.
My favourite character has also got to be Alan because not only is he really funny in the tiger scene but he is also funny in other scenes like when he is getting measured for the suit he's going to wear at the wedding and he makes a very rude comment to the suit fitter.
I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoy comedie and I would rate it 9/10 the only reason that I wouldn't give it a 10 is because I prefer action movies to comedy movies.… Expand

O inicio é um pouco parado, mas após a madrugada - cujo eles esqueceram -, um plot acontece atras do outro, revirando nossa cabeça e acrescentando elementos que nem conseguimos imaginar como se resolverão. O ambiente vira caótico e os três personagens principais carregam muito bem os acontecimentos. Todos tem um tempo de tela muito bem administrado, e a carisma de alguns com o anti-carisma de outros sere muito como um contraste que não imaginaríamos, visto que o mais quieto foi o mais louco da noite.

As aparições de Mike Tyson, Ken Jeong, Ian Dale foram muito assertivas, pois eles nos cativam apenas com suas aparências, evitando qualquer tipo de desenvolvimento - mesmo havendo em alguns casos.… Expand

From start to credits, I laughed with few pauses. Where other comedies have failed, The Hangover doesn't treat the plot as a to-do list to run through after the gags are done, it keeps it fun and involved.

Obviously, a real split in opinion on this movie. I guess some people don't enjoy laughing or think a comedy must be ever so tasteful or maybe just walk around with a stick up their a$$ and it hurts too much to laugh. Sure it was crude, but c'mon what did you expect when you saw a tiger, Mike Tyson and a baby in sunglasses in the trailers? Galifianakis, Helm and Jeong (Mr. Chow) were simply hilarious and the reveals became funnier as the movie went on. The credits tied everything together perfectly, contrived or not.… Expand

Seemingly being THE comedy film of the summer...I was excited going into this film because I found the trailers and TV spots to be hilarious, so I could only imagine what the entire film would be like...and it dosen't dissapoint. For Seemingly being THE comedy film of the summer...I was excited going into this film because I found the trailers and TV spots to be hilarious, so I could only imagine what the entire film would be like...and it dosen't dissapoint. For the most part, this is your standard vulgar comedy that tosses out decency in favor of something far more crude...and often times these films work very well (if the Box Office performance is any indication). The story is simple...4 guys go to Vegas for a bachelor party, the most important one of the bunch turns up missing after a (very) wild night of partying, the other 3 go on a wacky "quest" to remember what happened and fine their friend. It's a very straight forward formula...but a perfect one in the sense that there is A LOT you can do with a premise like, and they don't waste a minute of it. It moves along very fast like a roller coaster of comedy and rarely lets up till the rather filthy conclusion in the form of pictures. Films like this are a lot of fun...any road trip film featuring a bunch of guys with good chemistry and seemingly the desire to get in a bunch of trouble is sure to be if anything, watchable...and The Hangover does this perfectly. The characters are interesting in the most obnoxious of ways and they DO come off like a group of buddies in over their heads in Sin City. That being said...this is a delightfully raunchy summer comedy with "likeable" characters and an excellent forumla that seemingly works and works. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.… Expand

What sets it apart from other comedies is, in my opinion, the dialogue (and singing parts). It's much wittier than you usually see in movies such as these, and I would not be surprised to find out that many lines were improvised. It's crude, to be sure, but as long as you're not bothered by such a thing you'll be glad you spent your money.… Expand

R rated movies have always felt a little too dirty for me. With all the adult content I sometimes wonder whether I can handle an R rated movie. Up until today the only really good R rated movie I saw was Super Bad. However, the Hangover R rated movies have always felt a little too dirty for me. With all the adult content I sometimes wonder whether I can handle an R rated movie. Up until today the only really good R rated movie I saw was Super Bad. However, the Hangover knocks that movie out of the ballpark. The plot of the film is essential these four guys have decided to have a bachelor party in Vegas. So they go out and have a good time. Come next morning though the bachelor is nowhere to be found and three guys can't remember anything from the night before. So begins their hilarious quest to find Doug, the bachelor. Most of the humor in this movie revolves around these guys finding out what it was they did the other night. Without giving anything away all I'm going to say is that these guys did some serious s-word. The core of this comedy is these guys finding out what they did through the consequences of their actions. Throughout a good portion of that part of the film I was laughing my head off. However, the jokes began to dry out after the trunk incident. Nonetheless when this water is boiling it makes the kettle whistle. For any parents reading this let me assure that the Hangover isn't the most adult movie in the world. Most of the R rated content comes in the form of the language used. In fact there was nothing really that disturbing in this movie. Nonetheless, this movie is still for the more mature audience. The Hangover is the comedy. It will make you laugh so hard that you'll either throw your head back clap your hands, or both. However, the humor fails to endure for the entire film . Nonetheless, the movie is hilarious long enough for me to give it an 85/100. However, since Metacritic doesn't do decimals I'm stuck giving my secondary opinion. Bottom line go watch this movie for what it's worth, this movie is a freaking good time.… Expand

If you are in a good mood and want to laugh see this movie. If you are an uptight politically correct douchebag (e.g. Dr. Faggoty Gabriel C) don't. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That is really all I have to say about this movie. Superb laughs, and a solid storyline. There aren't many comedies that achieve this.

Director Todd Phillips has a knack for making some of the best buddy comedies. Road Trip, Old Scool, Starsky & Hutch, and the upcoming Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. I didn't care for most of the previous titles,Director Todd Phillips has a knack for making some of the best buddy comedies. Road Trip, Old Scool, Starsky & Hutch, and the upcoming Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. I didn't care for most of the previous titles, except Old School. It took me a long time to see Old School, but when I did I was thoroughly satisfied. It wasn's the movie itself that I fell in love with, as much as the genuine feeling of comradery and friendship between Mitch (Luke Wilson), Frank the Tank (Will Ferrell) and Beanie (Vince Vaughn). That is the very same feeling I get when I watch The Hangover. The actors all have a chemistry that makes you believe what's happening to them, no matter how outrageous it is. Zach Galifiankis was the best. What a great way to break onto the movie scene, after a decade of extra roles, and tv spots. The slogan, "Some guys just can't handle Vegas" is perfect. Without saying, if you saw the trailer you alreay know that the premise of the story is a bit extreme, but I never got the feeling that events from the film were beyond the realm of reality. Another great thing about this movie was the cameos. I'm always a sucker for good cameos, and The Hangover doesn't disappoint. I loved the appearances of Ken Jeong as the gay Chinese gangster Mr. Chow, Rob Riggle as the over-caffinated cop, and Mike Epps as black Doug. Oh yeah, and that other Mike too. Although, they probally shouldn't have spoiled that one in the preview. With so much going on in the story, this film could have easily had a few unfilled plot holes, but I'm happy to say that it didn't. The only question that went unanswered was how that chicken got in the hotel room. The Hangover was one of my favorite films of the summer. That's saying alot because there were quite a few great movies that came out in the summer of 2009. Todd Phillips may use the same basic buddy comedy palette for each of his movies, but why shouldn't he? It works. I can't wait for Due Date. And if theres any truth to this, we should be expecting a sequal to The Hangover. My fingers are crossed for that one.… Expand

This is a fun, all be it overrated, adventure comedy. Zach Galifinakis provides most of the hilarity, and Ken Jeong is amusing but sometimes cringeworthy. The plot is clever, the writing is sharp, and the characters are loveable. It's a fun ride.

One of the funniest movies to come out in a long, long time and the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time, The Hangover was just laugh after laugh.

What really works in this film is the setting, the City of sin and broken dreams isOne of the funniest movies to come out in a long, long time and the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time, The Hangover was just laugh after laugh.

What really works in this film is the setting, the City of sin and broken dreams is probably the worst place to ever forget what you did, these guys "do" and how the story unravels more and more towards the end is just such an intensely funny journey the payoff succeeds in every way.

Considering the directors previous work, this so far... is his masterpiece, congrats Todd Phillips.

All the characters are wonderful, anyone should be able to instantly connect and like all of them, but by far the audiences favourite character is the dumb-bearded crusader Alan Garner played by Zach Galiffianakis, he's slow witted humour make for some real great dumd-ass jokes.

Throw in Heavyweight giant Mike Tyson and an eccentric campy Chinese Ganglord and you have a great stellar cast all unique in every way.

Final Verdict: Had me laughing from beginning to end and I don't think i've had that kind of comedic entertainment since 2008's "Pineapple Express".

The Hangover 2 came out and i saw it, so i decided to rewrite this review and really... you're in for a treat.… Expand

We are not fans of raunchy and vulgar movies, but this one at least kept most of the raunch just on the adult side of juvenile which made it not only a little more tolerable, but actually amusing. However all the enjoyable humor of the movie instantly dissolved, and every decent bone in our bodies was violated when disturbing pornographic images appeared along with the movie credits. Whether or not they liked the movie, every critic should have issued a warning about these images. Despite one critic writing, "you WANT to stick around for the credits ... and you don't mind one bit," the last thing we wanted to see was an explicit image of a woman performing oral sex. If it can be assumed that the majority of movie audiences who can tolerate some level of vulgarity, would welcome grotesque pornography, then we had better reexamine our values as a society.… Expand

This is the best comedy so far in 2009. Actors are great, their characters fit them amazingly. Todd Phillips did amazing job like he did it in the past. For a 2000-era high-school to mid 30s audience movie, its an 8, but overall in the grand scheme of comedy, its a 7. Funny, but no where near as funny as your friends are likely making it out to be.

A couple of days before his wedding, Doug drives to Las Vegas with his three buddies for bachelor party. Unfortunately the three groomsmen wake up the next morning with Doug missing and, unable to remember a thing, the trio must attempt to retrace steps from the night before in order to find their friend and get him back to in time for his wedding.

The Hangover is certainly not an original concept, the bachelor party gone wrong has been done many times in film and TV, but avoids many of the clichés associated with this type of movie by starting after the bachelor party has finished and dealing completely with the aftermath. Following a short set-up the hapless trio awake to find a tiger in their bathroom and a stranger’s baby in the cupboard. From then on they find themselves in ever more ludicrous, but often very funny situations, as the film races along at a rapid pace. The three leads have excellent on screen chemistry coming across, despite the absurdity of the script, as convincing and likable.

The Hangover won’t be for everyone but it is one of the very best examples of the over the top comedy movie and certainly worth purchasing on DVD if you usually enjoy this type of film.… Expand
