As far as I can tell, I thought it was a good movie. Competent as it can be. Mostly because of its impeccable staging. However, it has a very serious problem in terms of its overlong running time and glacial pace.

The Fortress barely goes over two hours, but at the end it seemed to me that it took three hour of my time.
In terms of entertainment that may put more than one viewer off.

This story rewards patience, so if you want a more classic Asian war action film in this time period, this may not be your cup of tea.… Expand
