Bana plays a policeman in Melbourne, Australia who goes back to his rural hometown of Kiewarra, in the midst of a long, lingering drought, to attend the funeral of childhood friend, Luke, whose wife and son were brutally murdered. Falk stays and works with the Town Sergeant to try and solve the case of the three deaths. Falk also learns to come to terms with his own role in the unsolved death of a girl from the town that he befriended when he was a teenager, reopening old wounds. The movie offers twists-and-turns, suspense and a few suspects, with an ending that's a complete surprise, especially for those who haven't read the novel. Expand

If you haven't seen it, you should give it a chance.

The Dry is well executed and paced. Mystery elements are super interesting.

Good double mystery, and Eric Bana kills it. It's a bit of a slow burn, but good pacing keeps you locked in. No spoilers, but all the plots/sub plots are resolved well.

Sorrowful, sober, poignant, whispered: once the great cinema and the best art followed these aesthetic principles today instead more and more set aside and despised. It can be mistaken for a dispersive film, while it is the remarked metaphor of the drought that has persisted for almost a year, for a lifetime, since the entire history, the chronic shortage of a saving rather than redemptive water to drink and wash. The version of the masterpiece "Under the Milky Way" is also harmonically desiccated and dried up. So far Australia's most successful thriller, Connolly transforms it into the visionary and survivalist vibe of the landscape and its inhabitants.

I didn't feel too much emotional concern for or about the characters, other than the main character perhaps because he's clearly not well regarded when he returns home, which seems a little unfair but for the most part, the characters didn't interest me much. It's somewhat tense and it's sort of ok but not a film I'd actively recommend, no. Expand

How? For starters, you've got an unsolved murder from years ago that brings back DetectiveEric Bana to his hometown to investigate a tragic murder-suicide that involved one of the original suspects. Once you get past the Australian accents, you can enjoy a well written, yet somber who-done- it play out. Who's hiding long kept secrets? Just like Mare of Eastown there are a couple of red herrings that lead you off the path. Great acting. Great cast. Great ending, this movie is easily one of the best murder mysteries of 2021 Expand
