If you like your protagonists to be as hedonistic obnoxious as possible or fancy a nostalgia trip set around 80's sunset strip extravaganza it ain't half bad. Expand

Was it "Almost Famous?" No. Was it fun and fairly faithful to the source material without being completely pornographic? Yes. Was it fun as hell? Damn straight.Screw the critics.

Love the film, the cast is great !!! Any film that I do not click stop and wanna watch again is great. Loved Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee's characters, those characters alone could carry the film

Although the famous rockstar lifestyle with sex, drugs, alcohol and rock and roll is a lifestyle that many people admire, to tell the truth I have always found it too insipid.

But it's fair to recognize that if there was a band that lived to the maximum that doctrine was Mötley Crüe, but evidently the film only risks enough to feel moderately entertaining and unfortunately the whole set is just a cliche of praise to that lifestyle and that definitely makes this film a loser.

Want more content? Better read the book and not that it's great literature but it's infinitely more enjoyable.

This film and Bohemian Rhapsody have already failed me, but I still have high hopes for Rocket Man.

A sh*t movie about some sh*tty a holes and their equally odorous music. One of these sh*ts literally destroyed the greatest glam band ever (Hanoi Rocks) by driving off a cliff with their drummer. This is spinal dud.

It's like the Queen movie but funnier, crazier, more disgusting (throwing up on a stripper is just one fleeting moment), more sex, a lot more drugs. Parts were hard to watch. Several times I was howling. Acting was good & you get to know each member as a character. I'd truthfully give it an 8 out of 10. But 10 since the critics are clearly in a mood.
It's worth seeing just to witness the story.

Everything looked great for this attractive Mötley Crüe biopic. Everything before you take a look at it. I never saw a movie so representative of itself in its five first minutes. I never saw a movie so representative of itself in its five first minutes. Yep, in less than five minutes, you saw it all. On the menu of originality of rock bands biopics we have : flashing boobs, drugs and alcohol abuse (but those certainly are unavoidable classics), groupies, family feuds, long worldwide tours, a lot of sex, stupid characters, pre-juvenile and childish jokes, arguments within the band and violence among others.

The movie quickly becomes disjointed and its pace becomes really tricky. 'The Dirt' will surely bombard you of naked women and sex scenes in order to get a bit of the public's attention. It will not hide product placements as Jack Daniels and Marshall technology. As the events go on and on the characters appear to have less and less depth until you reach the 'I-don't-care-anymore' point. It is better that way because if you try to hang on that will be your humanity that will take a hard shot.

Surprisingly there are some parts in which the movie tries to be moving and more coherent but these parts totally fall apart with the terrible acting and scenarists' writing skills. The impression of having wasted time at the end is omnipresent.

Well, it's Mötley Crüe. That's enough to make the movie fantastic. The actors are not exactly identical to the musicians they perform but offer good performances

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Such a good movie! So accurate and I wasn’t even alive during this generation but I grew up with my dad and uncle in a rock band in our hometown so I LOVE 70’s/80’s rock music! It literally was the best and the worst of times and this movie nailed it. I’ve watched ‘The Dirt’ at least 8 times now if not more and I’d watch it again RIGHT NOW! Expand

It presents us the facts, most many would already know if they even become slightly acquainted with he band's history, and instead of feeling remorse and an understanding of the events that had transpired, it lavishly glamourizes its downer moments on an equal plain as its upper moments.
I understand that this is all a part of the 1980's pop culture lifestyle, but it ultimately drowns the film in sacrificial substance style. Expand
