The movie did a great job of creating a tense environment. The bogeyman itself was pretty cool looking. The actors did a great job as well. It doesn't overstay its welcome either. There isn't much plot. Just straight to the tension.

Good build up and tension. The story isn't very deep, but it didn't get too long because of this. The actual boogyman was well designed and actually creepy. It is an entertaining movie!

Me parecio increible la pelicula, muy buena, soy alguien que ve muchas peliculas de terror, y puedo decir que esta basstante bien lograda! la recomiendo

Okay so I watched this with a open mind and I must say that I was impressed good but not great is my verdict here I'll give it a 8 out of ten cause it did scare me like I was supposed to but by no means perfect

When compared to the recent streak of horror hits like Evil Dead Rise, Smile, Barbarian, and X, this feels a little generic. However, this film has a very compelling lead and Sophie Thatcher gives an excellent performance. However, this film has a very compelling lead and Sophie Thatcher gives an excellent performance. The little girl who plays her sister is also terrific. The three central characters, the dad, the daughter and the sister are very well developed. I felt the first act was a lot more engaging and I was on the edge of my seat in those early scenes. Unfortunately, the film does feel like it is being stretched out too long despite being a very simple story. The film isn't very scary either as it rolls into the final act despite having a very impressive set piece at the end that is very entertaining. The film also looks great and the chilly atmosphere I thought was well maintained throughout. It's a horror film that isn't one of the best of its kind but it's really solid.… Expand

I know when a film tries and The Boogeyman is one that tries over and over again and yet simply looks powerless to pull off the result, as all it can offer are the most basic features of the horror genre. Unfortunately, when you want to mask the weak spots of the plot and the lack of strength when it comes to generating frightens other than presenting dark corridors and simple jump scares, no matter how hard you try you're not going to go anywhere that matters. The Boogeyman as any other Stephen King adaptation had potential, what happens is that the people behind them don't know how to make the most of them.… Expand

While not a terrible movie, it's also not particularly good. This has been done so many times in horror movies and it's been done better. The Boogeyman brings nothing new. It's light on scares and the few jump scares were predictable. Not even the attempts at creating a dark atmosphere was enough to create suspense. If I had to sum it up. Alguns filmes são criados e nos perguntamos: por quê? Afinal, não é que seja de todo ruim, é que é feito de forma tão burocrática, tão medíocre, que não há absolutamente nada de novo para apresentar, não é apenas um amontoado de clichês, é umAlguns filmes são criados e nos perguntamos: por quê? Afinal, não é que seja de todo ruim, é que é feito de forma tão burocrática, tão medíocre, que não há absolutamente nada de novo para apresentar, não é apenas um amontoado de clichês, é um escárnio e brincadeira de mau gosto a falta de originalidade com que tudo é tratado.
Tirando a boa ambientação e as atuações das garotas, não resta nada. Pegaram uma série de clichês do gênero, como a iluminação quase sempre escura (nunca amanhece nessa cidade?), o medo pelo desconhecido, pelo que há debaixo da cama e do porão, uma morte anterior que serve de fio condutor ao presente, e temos aí um filme sobre nossos medos ocultos mas que, para minha surpresa, trouxe à tona um monstro bem real que aterroriza as meninas.
Entre crédulos e incrédulos, é questão de tempo para o filme se entregar à perseguição e ao pastelão, ainda contando com o uso do espaço de forma tosca. Quando uma das meninas visita a menina, e se depara com um cenário pronto para combater o monstro, a cena cria vergonha alheia. Talvez não tenha sido à toa que a cena acabou cedo demais.
Veja por exemplo o novo "Morte do demônio", que consegue passear de forma claustrofóbica naquele apartamento. Aqui a ambientação só se sai bem na produção de arte, mas apertaram o botão para acelerar e pronto, a tensão foi para os ares.
A visita das amigas patricinhas pouco acrescenta, os personagens secundários são rasos, e até mesmo o pai está bem abobalhado. Tudo aqui é feito para pôr as meninas em situações de perigo. Não me incomodo com a iluminação quase sempre escura, desde que não prejudique a visão, e infelizmente, aqui em alguns momentos tornou o filme incompreensível.
Enfim, com alguns sustos, correria, efeitos medíocres (o CGI do monstro e do incêndio), ao menos o filme tenta reverberar um trauma psicológico, e se abordasse isso seria até mais interessante, ou partisse para o slash de vez. Tentou dar um passo maior do que pretendia e acaba derrapando, soando mais genérico e previsível que o habitual.… Expand
