Terrifier 2 is an amateurish schlock-fest that overstays its welcome long before the 3rd act.

The film is wholly unoriginal and suffers from sloppy directing, while being riddled terrible narrative choices in a paper-thin plot that break the movie's own logic. All of this is wrapped together in an eyesore of a lens filter that makes the abundance of blood and gore look like the catering service got overzealous with the sriracha sauce.

The only thing worth seeing is David Howard Thornton's performance as the somewhat hilarious, somewhat menacing, but always entertaining Art the Clown.

This movie was just too bad to finish. Nonsense killing/gore way too exaggerated and no horror at all. The clown was funny at times, else was plain bad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The sequel to the 2022 horror movie. The more suspenseful the first, the more absurd, funny and fantastical this one. There will be moments where you will say "no more" at least 3 times while watching. What was the need to fly so much? When I saw your score, I watched it with excitement, thinking it was better than the first. But it was a huge disappointment. Many questions remained open.

1 - Who was that little clown girl?

2 - Does it really exist or not?

3 - Who was Sienna's father and what connection does she have with the clown?

4 - What is the story of that sword?

5 - Why was their mother so aggressive and why doesn't she tell about their father's situation?

6 - How does only the head live? Wtf

There is no sex in the movie. There is little nudity.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first one was a classic. So i waited for this. First the good things. Art is a great character and the gory visuals and effects are solid and one of the best i have seen so far. But then it starts going downhill. The plot is boring, no surprises. And the thing i HATE the most is when they bring kids to the movies. "Heroine and a brother" come on? I actually hoped that they would have the GUTS to kill atleast the kid. But no... Also the weird story about this magical sword and stuff... the plot was all over the place. If you liked the first. You probably think this is "average" Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Probably one of the most dull movies I have watched in recent memory. Where the first terrifier shines, this one just falls flat. The story is abysmal, making no sense to even the most attentive. The gore is nice, but that does not make up for the lack of anything relating to storyline. The first one was fine with it as it ended in a cliffhanger, making us assume we will get more answers in the 2nd one, and it left us with barely anything to contemplate other than that. The 2nd movie just leaves us with too many questions, and overall is just too slow and goes on for way too long. Expand

It is downright criminal for something this schlocky and stupid to be this long. This **** is only 7 minutes shorter than GOODFELLAS and for no reason at all.

The over-the-top gore is super fun but whenever the clown isn't on screen this thing grinds to a halt. I spent about half of the movie trying to figure out if the acting, dialogue, and cinematography were all terrible on purpose. The film is certainly intentionally campy in ways and seems totally self-aware at some moments but it also takes itself way too seriously at other moments, and all the melodramatic family stuff should have been left on the cutting room floor.

My viewing experience was a cycle of being totally checked out and hating the characters, then being won back over by some wild moment with the clown, rinse and repeat. But even the clown and the crazy violence grew tiring long before the end. There is a tipping point where the gratuitous torture can stop being fun and just feel gross and nihilistic, and Terrifier 2 crossed that line in a couple of scenes. It almost even feels a little misogynistic since the victims are mostly innocent young women but the movie clearly wants you to be rooting for the clown and reveling in his sadistic violence against them. Seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of why the best slasher movies work.

Art the clown is a legend and the gore can be entertaining. The movie, however, is nothing sort of an absolute mess. The story is borderline incoherent and the movie runs a good 30 minutes too long. It was too complicated for its own good.

I mean, what I saw was basically the same as the first movie only with the rules of a sequel. We're talking about being bloodier, a bit more elaborate and of course longer, but I think only the most hardcore horror lovers will enjoy it with more emotion, I had no reaction, not even with the more violent deaths, as these didn't look brutal but comical.

Terrifier 2 is a once in a lifetime theater experience.

A passionate display of sheer and utter depravity, Damien Leone's pure love for the genre is felt in every frame. The man is a virtuoso of special effects, and he delivers carnage in VATS, crafting some of the most gloriously gut-wrenching and wholly ingenious set pieces I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. And it's all brought together by David Howard Thornton's bigger-than-life performance as Art the Clown (made even bigger on the big screen), and Elliott Fullam's and Lauren LaVera's welcome amount of heart.

Especially one in particular. The synth music hums through every scene, when it's not trying to sound Carpenter-ish. The main authority figures, their mother and teacher, do nothing but yell at them constantly (parents just don't understand!). One character looks like she stepped off the set of Working Girl. I know it's Halloween, but the 80s look is spot on. Credit must be given to Leone in the creation of Art (art, get it?) the Clown. The stark black and white costume and make up design are just right, the tiny askew hat is the cherry on top. Whereas Art was a bit subdued in his two previous appearances (he just had to look menacing), Leone lets his characters freaky clown flag fly. Through physical movement, gestures, bits of business, Art the Clown has the time of his life slicing, dicing and tearing through his victims. And that he does. The gore is outlandish, as bodies are beaten and torn apart like the sacks of meat we are. Though a two hour running time would have helped, you gotta love where Leone takes his little cult film. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just fantastic. Innovative kills (they evened up sawing a girl from her vagina in 1 to mutilating a penis in 2).
Good acting (a 44 year old playing a high school student).
Great gore, excellent cinematography, nice set ups that pay off. Pretty much all you can ask for in a horror film.

And my scepticism is justified every time. Mostly, they just turned out to be publicity stunts. In fact, I now just assume that to be the case. To be fair, I’m probably not the best judge of these things, since it takes a lot to elicit that kind of reaction from me. But a few movies have got close.

And so, I watched Terrifier 2 partly because I enjoyed the first one but also to see if there really was any validity to these claims. It’s really gory. More so than Terrifier 1 and more than I expected. Do I believe the claims? Yes, I do. Even I was on the edge a couple of times. Although that may have had something to do with watching it while eating lunch.

I’m still on the fence as to whether I enjoyed it or not. On the one hand, it’s a good 80s horror cheesiness. On the other, there were times it felt like some of the gore was done purely for the shock value. It feels like they did it just for the sake of making it gory.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Boy what a mess; a co-worker of mine found out I love horror movies and the gorier the better. They convinced me to watch the first two feature length films. Terrifier was a perfectly acceptable slasher film, the gore and practical effects were done well and there was some genuine scenes that made me feel uncomfortable (which is hard these days!). Terrifier 2 cranks up the violence like twenty fold, the effects and everything are fine, I have no problem with these things, but there are problems, huge problems.

For starters Terrifier 2 is over two hours long, there's no reason for this film to be that long and I cannot believe some people managed to sit through this in the theater. There are several scenes that don't need to be in the film at all and act simply as padding.

It feels like this movie is supposed to have some lore dropped on us, the issue arises from the fact that we have literally no context to any of it.

The main character's Father is dead, they make several references to this, like it's important. When the Father's sketchbook makes an appearance the main character acts like they found the holy grail of artifacts, but they don't explain WHY.

The main character also appears to be obsessed with their Father's "character". "Daddy's Character" is referenced at least three or four times, like it's important, but we don't get anything else besides the main character just saying, "Daddy's character!"

Further, Terrifier 2 couldn't be further away from the first film. While the first one is a pretty vanilla slasher film with a cool little post-credits scene, the second is more like a dollar store rip-off of Nightmare on Elm Street.

None of it really makes sense and there is literally no attempt to explain any of it. Look, I get it, this is supposed to be a horror film, we need to be able to suspend our sense of disbelief while watching it. I can do that, honest! I love Dead Alive and almost all of the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films. This film is more absurd than both of those franchises combined.

Suddenly we got a pale little girl clown, Art can apparently do whatever he wants, invade your dreams, teleport, just all sorts of stuff. Oh wait, now there's an entrance to hell and a magic sword and... What were they smoking?! I feel like you need to be on LSD to enjoy this film!

There is A LOT to appreciate with this film, the writing and pacing are some of the worst I've seen in all my years of watching horror movies. There was no reason this film had to be that long, there was no reason the writing had to be the way it was.

I am willing to bet if there was a super-cut of this film with all of the pointless junk taken out it may even be a fairly decent film. Come for the amazing gore and kills, fast forward through any writing or plot, there is no character development, you will miss nothing and save time.

Pinnacle grindhouse, morally bankrupt violence, made by people who are clearly passionate for the genre. It’s the most disturbing and perverted display I have ever seen, but keeps within the realm of acceptability by its over-the-top, zany and nonsensicality, which keeps this grounded entirely.

Even more ludicrous is how good the soundtrack is, despite not fitting the films profile (like, at all) it absolutely works! These are the gambles I like to see be taken in cinema.

This is certainly a cult classic.

Let's cut to the chase!

Clowns are truly in need of more love.

Blood, gore, humor, references to other brilliant movies galore.
What you take away is hopefully your mind, unless Art got to it first.

A pure slug fest for fans, a slightly disconnected story for visitors of the genre, and utterly meaningless to most. Given John died in the first movie, the prequel to the first Terrifier, he must be somewhat annoyed. And it shows. All the traits are there: anxiety, loneliness, lackluster ideas of how to make a living for himself.

This movie covers it all. From tumbling your clothes dry to lonesome hours in a waffle house. Walking empty streets with no friends. Being shut out. Being ugly. Disfigured in a place of perfection, left in the 1990s. Despicable, horrible, truly a nightmare. With beautiful women around... Oh yeah! This movie has STORY. Only a bit. Mostly it has character building, blood, gore, more blood, a stick house built only to be blown down by the big bad wolf. And there are no houses to run to. It leads nowhere but blood, and a clown smiling while you. Well. Watch. Yourself. Eat. It.

There is a psychologist somewhere in this movie, we just never meet him. If Kubrick was to watch this flick, he would probably appreciate some of the photography and complain about other parts. And that is alright my friends, as this is not a movie seeking perfection.

It is a terrifying flick lasting too long. Too long. I wonder when there are going to be brave souls again, to rip our guts out, smash our brains, just to say, hah, it is just a joke man! Truly a spectacle, a circus, a confusing bloody mess! Terrified. Two. At least, At least, At least.. Eight.. almost nine

Terrifier 2 is definitely not better than the original and plot wise the story told on itself before the ending. And about the ending. It really overstayed it's welcome, and I saw it coming a mile away. It's gory but not at all scary and after terrifier 1 and all the hype I heard over terrifier 2, I really expected better. Sorry. But whatever they were hoping for, they missed me with this one. They could have kept this because I was extremely disappointed. 5/10. Average, with a predictable story that tells on itself how it's going to end Expand

Was disappointed after watching the first movie, so i didn't expect much from the second movie. Tho gore, the clown and the actors were good. Tho gore, the clown and the actors were good. But the decisions the charakter made were as stupid as in the first movie. And in one scene it was not logic at all that the one person didn't fall in a coma after the first torture. No the character stayed awake and screamed until the clown finally killed him.
Every minute felt like wasting my time and 2h are way too long.
