Ten Thousand Saints is based on a novel which I read about half of. I would say that from what I read of the book that the movie was fairly loyal to the source material but much like the book it was just sort of uninteresting. I would say that from what I read of the book that the movie was fairly loyal to the source material but much like the book it was just sort of uninteresting. The story is kind of flat and its hard to get engaged. The major redeeming quality was the performance from Ethan Hawke even though you could possibly find some similarities with his character from Boyhood. Expand

With characters that are highly developed and uniquely flawed, this film resonates on an emotional level bringing the viewer along for a ride through 1980's New York and the CBGB punk era. The director team of Shari Berman Springer and Robert Pulcini understand tapping into the human element, as evidenced in their Oscar nominated film 'American Splender.' This adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Eleanor Henderson really hits home on a personal level. I highly recommend 'Ten Thousand Saints' without reservation. Do yourself a favor, go to the movies and watch a real story :) Expand
