The critics can say what they want, but lets be honest most of probably never read a comic book or just simply don't understand comic book movies. But like I was saying the plot is debatable but I liked it. The performances were great especially Jokers and Harley's. Being a fan of Joker and Harley this was exactly what I wanted. Leto's Joker is just pure brilliant...Yes I said it! But the main thing that steals the movie for me is the whooping soundtrack, which makes you feel like you are using iPod shuffle because the songs are random and that's what makes it excellent. Final verdict...Suicide Squad is one of my favorite films. Expand

A decent, mildly funny anti-hero flick. Although it's light tone conflicts with the violence in the latter-half of the film, the Sorceress is a crap antagonist and there was no backstory for Croc, Katana and Sorceress's brother, Harley pulled them all through in the end.
A welcome departure from the other brooding DCEU movies.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all would like to inform u all that im a DC fanboy not a marvel peasant.
Where did this movie go the wrong way? Too many things were terrible but lets start with the plot. The plot was terrible, long story short "there is a group of bad people, one of them becomes super bad and makes another super bad person, other bad people must stop the super bad people".
When i first saw the cast i didnt have hope for Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and guess what? I was right she didn't feel like Harley at all, she was just Jokers personal toy. I actually had hopes for Jared Leto's Joker. But from the first moment of his appearance i hated him, i expected a newer, cooler, better, polished Joker but just got an excuse from DC.
Jay Hernandez(El Diablo)'s acting was terrible
I didnt have any hope for Jai Courtney but he was actually the best thing in the movie, he really did get into his role of captain boomerang, the thick Australian accent was on point.
Suicide Squad has a strong basis, it has a respected comic and a respected animation both of which are a great.
Joker had lots of different things than the original joker. He wasnt wearing purple. Instead he was wearing some yellow glitter **** or purple glitter **** which made him look even worse he had dumb tattoos, was a dumb character in the movie, if he had more screen time i would have probably killed myself. Everytime Katana said something i felt like my brain cells were commiting suicide. The next terrible thing was the relationship between Joker and Harley. In this movie we saw them both madly deep in love with each other. THE Joker doesn't love Harley, he abuses and tortures her. Harley knows it all but she just loves him(extreme Stockholm Syndrome).
If you're gonna defend this movie saying "this is something new this is something thats better" as a geek i'd like to say "read the comics or watch the animations about batman"(not necessarily the suicide squad) then you would know how bad this movie was.
At least the soundtrack and CGI was good(as expected from Zack Snyder)

A Beautiful Monster:

This movie is a perfect metaphor for its own characters. Just like the villains in this movie, who are badly treated and judged by their bad behavior, but who want to be redeem by its merits.

Badly treated and slapped together as a music video straight out of MTV the first half of the story starts up so fast its hard to keep on track of what is happening. The movie is trying to keep pase with the music and falls flat on its head. Its hard to make out if Ayer wanted to make this movie as crazy and schizophrenic as some of its characters or if it was really an accident or someone else's fault (the studio who, by trying to fix this, just made it worse).

The only reason this movie is not a complete waist is thanks to Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jay Hernandez who all deliver solid performances and make all the wild goose chase worthwhile.

It's a shame that the Jokers scenes are so short, it would have been better just to cut him out of the movie. Jared Leto is left with such a bland apperance that it really doesn't do justice to his talents or the other solid performances that Ledger and Nicholson did with this character.

Even with all its flaws Suicide Squad manages to entertain. There are is a lot of eye candy for all the DC fans and some key jokes that really hit the spot just right, witch makes me wonder if there is a really good movie buried here and if maybe a Directos's Cut (a la Batman v Superman) will ever clear the air. One thing is for sure, It's no Deadpool.

Suicide Squad is a fairly entertaining movie, but I understand the critics after I watched the movie.

The beginning part is the highlight of the movie, with colorful and different theme of music introducing the characters to us. It felt impatient of the movie rather than give us time to see how the characters develop. The actors are doing as best as they can, Maggie and Will definitely stand out from the others.

Other than that there are lots of things didn't deliver the hype. The editing and pacing from the second half are so messy, with flashbacks and cutbacks inserting to distract the audience from the main plot. It almost felt like a MTV movie with colors and music pop in at the wrong time. The tone of of the movie which was colorful and funny after the re-shoot, ironically, works against them in my opinion, as it seems odd and strange to appear in the darker universe of DC such as Dawn of Justice.

I'm sure a lot of his scenes were cut or remove due to some reasons, but Jared Leto's performance is the biggest let down this year due to the poor editing. I failed to see the Jokers's charming personalities and how he becomes the Joker and woo Harley Quinn, it's just very unconvincing for him to be the Joker and how the relationship was developed. His character, is as same as the movie, fells forced down our throats. It has the same flaws as Dawn of Justice but worst due to multiple characters and storyline.

Characters like Boomerang are interesting, but I doubt DC will ever put them in any future projects, as they are so underdeveloped in this film that nobody cares about them, except Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Joker only because the popularity.

Overall, a great film if you want to hop on the hype of the comics, but fairly disappointing movie if you expect it to launch the DC Universe and follow the footsteps of Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice. DC sadly failed to catch up it's rival company Marvel this year.

Because of the cast, the storyline wasn't much of something I was particularly searching for to understand the film, though the backstory of each character should've been highlighted fairly well.

None of the above was reached. Action scenes weren't jaw dropping and diablo wasn't eventful at all despite the remarks after he had flamed all the faceless zombies in the building mid-way through the movie. The provoking from Deadshot towards Diablo to get angry was a bit useless and would've rather been a better surprise without the smacks on the head.

Throughout the film, I oftentimes repeated, "Man this is lazy". I wouldn't suggest this movie to anyone. Also, why did Enchantress have to kiss everyone in order to turn them evil (part fo her army)? Maybe something I've missed from the comics? Won't be watching this at all again. Was a great build up and almost left work early to check it out. Glad I didn't.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

One of the worst disappointments of 2016 with one of the most misleanding Marketings. DC continues with his bad streak in this "New universe" where all that they know it's doing wrong. The characters are very bad introduced and it can't understand the attitude of some of them (Killer Croc, for example).

Leto does a good acting, but his character "Joker" it's barely what he needs to be, a clown. In all the scenes, this criminal with awful clothes shows up, instead of cause fear, causes discomfort on the spectator, you can't keep his presence on the screen without asking "¿Why did he did that?" or "¿He will do something that have a relation with the principal story and not filling?".

DC basically creates a movie for those who already know the characters and their stories and, beacuse of that, they have the luxury to make a horrible movie. This movie isn't funny and isn't exciting, it's awfull. I know that is not a "award winning movie", but the movie had a lot of potencial and they spoiled. The power of a bad script, is that you can spot easily all the movie defects (like the dreadful acting of Cara DeLevigne).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After seeing Suicide Squad this past weekend, I was left disgruntled by the awful choices Warner Brother Studios has made this year with their expansion of the DCEU. Though they handled some things well, like the casting of Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley, director David Ayer and accomplices at WB studios failed to make a completely coherent film yet again. I'll start with the negative first and there is a lot of it, reader beware.

My biggest issue with the film was its tonal inconsistencies, in one moment you’re in a gritty side street being ambushed by Batman, and in the next you’re watching a quirky montage of our anti-heroes suiting up for battle to Eminem's “Without me” - what's worse is that this type of scene/cuts happen consistently throughout the film and it just takes you out of the moment.

My second issue with the film is what I call the “Army Aspect”. The villain gathers an army to distract the protagonists of the film, while he/she does something evil and maleficent behind the scenes. My problem is that we’ve seen it done already! Not once, but twice with both Avengers films. How many more times must we watch a group of “heroes” fight an army of foreign species? Whats even worse is when they finally defeat the “Army” and confront the main villain of the movie - Enchantress - she is just standing there babbling nonsense and doing weird twitching movements. Frankly she looks like she is about to have a very serious stroke. They then proceed to have this long drawn out fight sequence, which ends up being useless because she just decides to disarm them, it's really jarring to actually watch happen. The movie is a mess in a lot of places.

The movie seems to have been severely tampered with the studio because there are just some disgusting and rudimentary cuts throughout the film. There are scenes that were obviously docked from the film, parts that would have more than likely made the film better a la Batman V. Superman: Ultimate Edition. For the life of me, I cannot understand what goes on over at Warner Brother Studios that makes them want to produce garbage film when they have the resources to make them complete and coherent. I wait anxiously for Wonder Woman, hoping that WB studios have learnt from their last two flops.

Though I made the movie seem like a steaming bag of dump, it wasn't all bad. There were small glimmers of hope, specifically with Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker. Though he is no Heath Ledger, who is arguably the best Joker, Leto’s portrayal was unique and fresh. I personally did not like the fact that he was a gang banger mob boss type, but I feel as though if it was expanded upon and explained in some detail it might be an easier pill to swallow. I also feel like Margot Robbie gave a great performance as Harley Quinn even though her character wasn’t written particularly well. Her on screen chemistry with Jared Leto was also great. Will Smith, as well as the writers, did an excellent job with Deadshot giving him character depth and making him relatable. My last qualm with the film is lack of character explanation for Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang, they just felt divisive and shoe horned into the movie.

The movie could be better, a lot better and a huge piece of me wants the DCEU movies to be great. I hope that directors and Warner Bros Studio learns from their past DCEU filmography and drastically improves it. I wait anxiously for Wonder Woman later next year as well as the proposed Ben Affleck directed Batman movie.

Suicide Squad: Proof you CAN polish a turd.

At its core a complete an utter piece of **** but like all healthy dog **** rolled in glitter I couldn't stop staring at the shiny bits.

I thought Will Smith was great as "Big Bad Willy" (what "Slim shady" is to Eminem if you will) but that isn't hard when you have the most developed character. Underdeveloped characters, a main theme throughout the film, completely wrecks the pace and fluidity of the movie.

Margot Robbie tries her best as Harley Quinn and while I would like to see her play the nut case again, she did not belong in this cinematic. Personally I would be far more interested in "Joker & Harley" only, for the big screen. (Side note: I will definitely be wanking to Harley Quinn porn tonight)

Croc only exists when other character's mention him, I mean seriously he had less frames than Mark Convey's PC. Boomerang, while I quite liked the character I would not have missed him if he died in a helicopter crash, which by the way; I have not seen so many people survive since an episode of the A-Team.

Now Moving on to El Diablo, or Pyro as I like to call him - because apparently speaking in a Mexican accent when you're white is "racist" - is by far my favourite character. He has the best power and the most harrowing back story that simply cannot be told in the DC Movie franchise. That's why I have taken the liberty of setting up a petition to get him his own Netflix series!

Link to petition here: https://www.change.org/p/netflix-el-diablo-pyro-must-get-a-netflix-tv-series?recruiter=590407343&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink

The Joker, Meh. Was he even in this movie? Not enough footage to judge Jared Leto on whether he's a good joker but certainly enough to see he doesn't hold a smirk to Heath Ledger let alone a smile.

I haven't read the graphic novel so I'm taking artistic license with this next sentence but The Witch should been fighting, at worst: Superman, at best: The ghostbusters (classic of course).

Overall: a romp that started off enjoyable but by the end, bored, I found myself drifting off into a world where Margot Robbie was **** on my chest while "Big Bad Willy" sang Miami as encouragement.

A middling 4/7.

PS: Warner Bros keep your **** nose out of the franchise, you ****

"Suicide Squad" does very little to add to this new universe, but rather feels like a filler movie as we wait for the Justice League movie. It does get a few things right, but not enough to save this lackluster film.

Performances in this movie overall are pretty damn good. The three standouts are undoubtedly Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Jared Leto as the Joker. Margot Robbie does more than just eye candy here, bringing real emotion to the character of Harley. Will Smith also does more than just play himself here. He's the most relatable character in the movie, and the one you'll probably be cheering for the entire film. Jared Leto as the Joker may have been questionable to some, but what he brings to the character is undeniably entertaining. While he isn't utilized much, he makes you want more of him in future DC movies.

The soundtrack is also one of the best of the year. The closest I can compare it to would be that of "Guardians of the Galaxy", containing mostly classic rock songs that will surely be stuck in your head when you leave the movie.

Where the movie starts to fall apart is...well, everything else. The main plot of the film, aside from bringing super villains together to work for the government, is cliché is boring. You've seen this plot a million times before, and "Suicide Squad" does nothing to change it up or bring anything fresh to the formula. Everything pretty much happens the way you think it'll happen and theres no surprises in the whole film.

Dialogue is spotty. When the villains are interacting with each other in small talk, it can be pretty entertaining. But should anyone have anything to say to the soldiers working with them or the main villain of the film, it all goes to hell. It's cliché and full of exposition, to say the least.

Fight sequences aren't necessarily bad, but nothing really memorable either. Usually in super hero films (or really action films in general), there is at least one or two fight scenes that stand out in your head and make you think how awesome the protagonist(s) is. But in this film, I honestly can't say that theres a single fight that stands out to me. They're all pretty bland and basic in almost every way.

I'm sure that mega fans of the comics will love this film, and more power to you if you do. But for me, this film as too many problems to overlook. While it has some solid performances and a kickass soundtrack, everything else in this film falls apart. Warner Bros. has some serious thinking to do about what they're gonna do next in their universe, because so far it's not fairing too well.

Jared Leto is great as the Joker but not given any time to shine. The best character was El Diablo because he was played very down to earth by Jay Hernandez and actually HAD a story arc. Most of the cast did well in their roles, especially Viola Davis, Will Smith, and Jai Courtney. However they couldn't even save this movie. It was chopped to all but pieces, had weird infused acid trips which suddenly died out after the first forty five minutes, and over all almost no character chemistry nor arcs in the entire thing. Though I did enjoy some scenes, it still wasn't enough to save this movie. Expand

Forgetting the fact that i am a complete nerd in comics and know every character, but judging the movie as an independent story... it is still pretty bad.
Half of the movie was just plain stalling the viewers, with awful and useless characters such as "captain boomerang" or "killer croc" who just stood there looking while people got killed, viewers didnt get to know anything about most of the characters, deadshot was the only character that i felt was good, i would say harley quinn, but that ending scene when she says "dont hurt my friends" was just cringy so i cant give a goood score with that in mind...
The villain (enchantress) felt just like a filler, just a bad guy so they can kill and get together as the suicide squad...
Neverminding the fact that its an action and superhero movie, its still pretty terrible... 3/10

Come on WB, we're more intelligent than that. Take a page from Luc Besson and the Fifth Element. You can have a high-adrenalin special effects movie that does have a storyline.

Suicide Squad was hyped to a god-like status. Merchandise was everywhere and it was talked about constantly on social media.

So when the film didn't live up to its god-like status, people were pissed.

Now, this film has some noticeable and blatantly obvious flaws but it really isn't as bad as the fans and critics are saying. It's a very fun and incredibly entertaining summer blockbuster and defiantly worth you time. If you see it as anymore than this, then you won't enjoy it. It's only meant to be fun.

The best part of the film is defiantly the performances of Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. There flashback scenes together were fantastic, truly awesome. Leto brings a fresh and new portrayal of The Joker that isn't too similar to either Ledger or Nicholson, which is nice to see. Unfortunately, the Joker is barley in the film and the small bits he is in are fantastic. Harley Quinn was also unpredictable and very funny. I just wish that we had got a Joker/Harley Quinn film instead of a Suicide Squad film.

The other members of the cast were all good- Jai Courtney has finally done a film that didn't completely suck ass, and he does a great job at portraying his character. Deadshot, played by Will Smith is also good but it's just Will Smith playing Will Smith while in fancy dress. But that works great for Will Smith so who cares. I honestly think that he shouldn't have had the spotlight that he gets because Harley Quinn and The Joker were so much better characters.

Other than Deadshot and Harley Quinn, the other characters seriously lacked development. Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) had no development and was only really there for the laughs. Katana, Killer Croc and Pyro were all three underdeveloped and underused, but I suppose that a film with so many characters has to leave some a bit less developed for the sake of its runtime.

Nevertheless, the team have great charisma together, which is a job well done on the directors part.

The soundtrack is great, but at times the music doesn't quite suit the tone of the scene and the soundtrack often jumps around from song to song rather erratically.

The editing was rather awful, which is a recurring theme in DC films. It comes across like a lot is missing and the stuff that is missing should be there, and the film suffers because of this.

The film had some petty good special effects and was visually nice at times but the cinematography was a bit dark and dingy and the villain at the end looked kinda terrible. The action scenes were nicely choreographed and well directed. There were also a few cool Batman Cameos, one was particularly good with Deadshot and it really helped the Batman character feel like the Batman we all know and love, not the man from BvS.

The villain was the Enchantress who lacked development and was kind of awful. Because she's a witch, it seems stupid that someone as powerful would be going against some people with guns.

Which leads me onto my main problem with the film:
The plot was too big for the team. The Suicide Squad should be taking on the mafia or a drug lord- not an all powerful supernatural force!! This left me saying the dreaded 'As if' a lot, which totally withdrew you from the film.

If the plot was on a smaller scale, the villain were stronger and the music and film editing was a lot better, than Suicide Squad could have lived up to the god-like hype. However, you will enjoy it as a popcorn filck and it's a small step up from BvS and in the right direction.

It feels bad to be sad..

Bad aspects:

- The Joker is a well loved and extremely difficult character to portray on screen. I noticed how much energy Leto has given to this character and it really shows off so I have to give him props for it. That being said, this film would be exactly the same if he didn't appear in it, there would be no noticeable difference to the plot. Which means that this character was a complete waste and has no business being in this film.

- Will Smith just plays himself during the entirety of this film and if you have watched any other Will Smith film you know what I am talking about. He just plays himself in every movie he's been in and it really is getting tedious at this point.

- Pacing: Suicide Squad is a little over 2 hours and it felt like I was already watching it for a full 2 hours halfway into the movie.

- Rick Flag portrayed by Joel Kinnaman was rather poorly by my taste. I didn’t buy the ‘can do anything soldier’ attitude and his acting was also mediocre at best. The romance between him and Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress was also way too forced and quite poorly portrayed. The pair had no chemistry between them and left much to be desired.

- Generic antagonist plot. The main villain is Enchantress played by Cara Delevingne who wants total world domination by turning every citizen into a generic monsteresque minion which can’t think for itself. That has never been done before.

Good aspects:

- Viola Davis as Amanda Waller offers a spot on portrayal of the character and is true to the comics. I was very pleased to see a portrayal that wasn’t complete bollocks, yes, I am referring to ‘Arrow’.

- El Diablo played by Jay Hernandez has a well thought out origin of why he is afraid to use his powers. But however it doesn’t explain how he got his powers. He was one of the better things the movie had to offer.

- Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is a must see portrayal and it is honestly one of the few pillars that can barely keep the movie from falling into an abyss of awful. Her character keeps true to it’s source material and is an overall great performance.

So Suide Squad had major flaws that can not be overlooked but it also has some good elements. So my final verdict on this movie is that it was a complete waste of my time and money and I do not recommend it.

There's one catch though: This is seriously the most disappointing thing I've seen all year.
Let's begin with the trailers, which were tonally misleading, that excited everyone for this movie, including me. While watching the movie, it seems as if the studio was rushing to put this thing together. In fact, pretty much all the movie's problems can be linked to the hurried creation of this movie. I'll elaborate on the problems below.
The first 40 minutes is all exposition, but it is so clumsy, I could have sworn the movie should have started with the helicopter crashing. I would rather have scenes of the characters discussing their past and the time spent in maximum security rather than this extra long opening narration. The characters are near life-less with a tiny character arc that comes off as cliché more than anything else. I haven't even gotten to all the confusing plot points in this movie, but that's how poorly constructed it is.
Even with bits of humor, good acting, and some good action, one can only glimpse at the potential that this movie had to succeed. Everything went wrong way too fast, resulting in a sloppy mess that warrants a seal of expendability.

The Animals - The House of the Rising Sun ,Black sabbath- Paranoid и др.
Капитан Бумеранг-фанат My little pony.
Финальная битва с которым напомнила мне битву с боссом из какой нибудь MMORPG(хотя бы в этот момент фильм смог меня порадовать).

Granted, it isn't perfect. The editing seems lazy at times and the plot is a bit crazy but it has a charm about it that I can watch over and over again. It's finally nice to see Harley Quinn make her movie debut and Margot Robbie did an amazing job portraying her. The relationship between her and the Joker was a bit odd as the movie was trying to be their "love story" and it didn't need to be like that.

It has a great soundtrack to it. I highly recommend the song "Heathens".

During my teenage years back in the 80's I collected John Ostrander's Suicide Squad title and absolutely loved it. It was always a given for me therefore that I would jump at the prospect of a movie based on my favourite title. I should also add that I fall into the category of those that loved Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (the Ultimate Edition ranks amongst one of my all time favourite movies). This should give you an indication of where this review is heading!

Absolutely loved it! What do critics know eh?

You know the synopsis I'm guessing (if you're reading this review) - government official Amanda Waller assembles a group of the baddest incarcerated criminals to go up against the potential of a metahuman crisis should the 'next' Superman not share our values. This is deemed more relevant following the demise of the man of steel himself at the climax of Dawn Of Justice. Amongst those villains are Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Enchantress/Dr June Moone (Carla Delevigne). Heading up the group is Colonel Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), albeit reluctantly.

The story essentially revolves around Enchantress going rogue and converting a subway station in Midway City into a warzone as she resurrects her brother Incubus and the two attempt to destroy the world. The only criticism I have with the movie concerns the simplicity within which Enchantress 'turns' on the group shortly after it is her actions that cause the senate committee to approve the founding of Task Force X only a couple of scenes earlier in the movie. It just feels a bit rushed. It's also interesting to note that the events of the movie would never have taken place had Waller not established her little 'pet project' to begin with!

The dialogue is witty and sharp and the characters are highly likeable (despite them being arch-villains and - in some cases, murderers). Will Smith is the core of the group as Deadshot and his cold-bloodedness as an assassin is softened by the connection he has to his daughter (how the audience is expected no doubt to warm to him?). Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flagg is also key to the story's heart with his flawed relationship with Dr June Moone - Enchantress's alter ego. Margot Robbie is superb as Harley Quinn and a scene stealer in herself (not to mention the sex appeal she ozes!) although her rear steals equally as many scenes as she does!

What do I need to say about Jared Leto that hasn't been said before? You'll either love or hate his portrayal of Mr.J! Think more 'gangsta'.

Fantastic soundtrack, great action sequences - the DCEU is shaping up just nicely with this third entry!!

Of course, there are other actors/actresses who put out good performances in this movie as well (Cara Delevingne as June Moone/Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, etc. and more actors featured in this film). The film shows how each character came to be who they were and there are even cameo appearances from some of the actors in the film(Common, Ben Affleck etc.) The film shows some of the characters achille heels such as how Will Smith’s Deadshot character was eventually captured and the pivotal moment when the Joker and Harley Quinn were captured. There are some love stories and an interesting mix of music thrown in for good measure (Heathens by Twenty One Pilots, a song by K7, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc.) Expand

The fact that will smith gets more screen time than the joker is absurd. I kid you not, the Joker gets a maximum of twelve, maybe fifteen minutes of screen time in this movie. Acting was decent, I'll give it that. But nothing really happened in the entire movie. They killed some people, defeated an evil being. WOOOOO. Guess that passes off as a triple A title now, does it. Its not a bad movie on its own- but with the hype and info surrounding the movie, and how big of a let down it was to so many people, I give it a failing score. Not even its gimmicky soundtrack could save it. Their use of songs like "Seven Nation Army" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" were poor attempts to capture the young audiences, which failed miserably. I was incredibly let down by this movie, and if they make a sequel, I cannot justify spending money to go see it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Suicide Squad gives a fresh take on classic characters and takes minor characters (El Diablo) and makes them key parts of the story. Despite a predictable third act and certain characters not being as crucial as expected ,or effecting the plot in any way,it still entertains. Every member of the cast from Margot Robbie to Jay Hernandez plays their character perfectly and despite peoples views of Jared Letos Joker his clown prince of crime is certainly memorable. Portraying the Joker as a ruthless "gangsta" is controversial but unique and, with a more central part, could be a worthy villain. The films only downfall is its story that fails to engage in the later parts and fails to provide any reason for Joker to be there. However this is overshadowed by comic accurate portrayals of the majority of characters and a colour palette that respects its heritage aswell as gritty and grounded combat.
Overall well worth the time, Suicide Squad is funny and engaging and deserves all the praise given by this reviewer.

In fact, when I notice that something is being over hyped I try to stay away from the marketing because that's when people develop way high expectations and end up being disappointed at the end. In this case, Suicide Squad. Now, this movie is definitely not as bad as a lot of reviews would suggest. Personally, I thought it was fun. It kept me entertained throughout the whole movie but there was never really an awe inspiring moment aside from one scene with Deadshot involved. By the way, Will Smiths character is so good in this I recommend watching it just for him alone. This is one of those instances where the trailers look better then the movie actually is and even spoils most of the best parts about it. What this movie does right though is balance multiple characters very well. You got the crazy one, the serious but bad ass one who actually has some heart, the comic relief, the quiet but deadly one, the secret weapon, and the beast. They all get their time to shine some more than others. Unfortunately the Joker is not in it as much as I would have liked him to be because I like this new take on him by Jared Leto. But, I must give some props to the director because he had to develop all of these characters in one movie unlike other franchises where the characters got their own movies first before they teamed up. It definitely wasn't an easy thing to do and I gotta admit he pulled it off pretty well. It could have been a disaster. The banter between characters is great, the costumes are good. There is action but it could have been better in my opinion. The plot isn't very original but it carries a great soundtrack throughout and the villains motive was very generic. Amanda Waller was fantastic though. This is one of those rare movies where a lot of people die and it's dark and gritty but at the same time has humor but it's OK because these guys are bad guys. This movie would have been much better if it were Rated R. But, I want a sequel to be done on a smaller scale with a less powerful villain. An idea that would really interest me is if they all had to go up against Batman but from their point of view. And they could portray Batman as this really menacing character that's actually scary and almost supernatural because you don't get to see how he plans his attacks or what gadgets he uses. They would have a goal but he would stop them in their tracks and they could rough him up somewhere down the line but he would come out victorious in the end. Sort of like when the bad guy wins in the end of a movie but in this case it's the good guy who wins but from the bad guys point of view. That would be awesome. Anyway, I would recommend seeing this movie with some good friends over some beers at least once. Or at the very least catch it on Blue Ray when it comes out. Expand

While some characters are given too much development leading to little consequences for the plot itself (evident fan service), others are barely developed at all and become nothing more than situational props. The story is overall tolerable, but suffers from too much unneeded exposition and bits of scenes which seem to simply kick it forward, instead of logically unfurling the general idea. For example, we see Waller's introduction for the first time in full feature, yet she goes on with her SS program "just in time" for a candidate to villain role to manifest itself. You have one of your employees possessed by an ancient which - what would you expect? Really... Then, the bit where Flag just recaps his whole scene, which in itself is understandable, but just so tedious to sit through, and seemingly comes as a big shock for the team (not like you guys didn't expect to have what you ended up having before credits anyway) killing all the intrigue. If that was a twist, I frankly expected better. Then, there's the Joker/Harley "relationship"... Harley is the only one to get full cutscenes in the movie (not Joker, Harley!) and all they amount to is their petty adventures of "loves me/loves me not". I mean, if you spend so much time showing it to us, then maybe you could bother writing some REAL LIFE relationship and have them live it for a moment. What makes Joker drop the act and go through love like a law of nature (for an individual of chaos)? Nothing? He just goes with it? Hm okay, either that isn't the Joker, or the writers just need him to be more cruel in scenes where he has to, and more loveboy in the others. One way or another, I just don't get it.
Why I rate it 6 out of 10? First, neat idea. It really could've worked, and, after the awfulness of silly seen in Deadpool, those guys had a chance. The ground for superhero/socializing satire genre is still new, and all the inspirational material is just laid there... but no, they didn't matter. Second, good performances completely overshadowed by the rupture of the plot. A father/daughter relationship which starts with Deadshot's daughter begging him not to kill people, and ends with her discussing all the details of a hitman's routine. Um, what? Waller's life at stake and the peril she put half of Midway City through ending up with her making more demands? Double what?!? There thinks COULD be overlooked were they either better written or scarce, but no, they're all over the place there. In all, that's aggravating on the general experience and tension release via musical score only trivializes the proper key elements which should've been highlighted more.
Would I recommend watching it to hardcore fans? Heck no. Would an average Joe enjoy the flick? Hell yeah... after a couple of whisky shots.

This ledWhen the first trailer dropped for Suicide Squad, it looked like DC were making their very own version of Guardians of the Galaxy, with a quippy band of thieves and killers being sent on a mission to defeat a world-destroying threat. This led us to believe the movie would be as fun and enjoyable as Guardians. Unfortunately, we were wrong, as the finished product is the messiest, most inconsistent and poorly paced DCEU movie yet.

I’ll start with my two major issues with this movie, which are tone and pacing. The movie goes from being dark and gritty to being fun and colourful, and feels like two completely different versions of the same movie mashed into one. The first trailer was even a lot darker then the ones to come, with a more sinister feel, while the second and third trailers were bright, colourful, and more like Guardians of the Galaxy. So you can tell DC weren’t sure which to go for, so to please both audiences they crammed both versions into one, which was a huge mistake. And as for pacing, this movie tries to tell about five different stories at once, from the Joker-Harley dynamic to Deadshot’s relationship with his daughter to the Squad’s mission itself. The movie goes from randomly inserted flashbacks to over-the-top action sequences to pop-song montages, while also trying to introduce us to all the characters and what crimes they’ve committed and all their personal vendettas, and so on. For instance, the character of Katana has a sword that traps the souls pf her victims, and her husband is imprisoned in it because her enemies killed him with it. I mean, WTF?! That’s an entire movie worth of material Warner Bros. could have made, but instead crammed it into a movie alongside the Joker-Harley dynamic, Rick Flag’s romance with Enchantress, Deadshot’s vendetta with Batman, and so many more unnecessary side-stories. And if a movie is all over the place like that, I can’t enjoy it and it ruins the film-going experience for me. There are also too many conveniences in the plot, and details the studio gloss over, which just frustrates me even more.

And now, before I get into what I like about this movie, I just have to say a few words about Enchantress and the Joker. Enchantress can be grouped up with all those disposable Marvel villains in the sense that she is a forgettable, one-dimensional threat who can be disposed of after one movie. Cara Delevigne’s performance was awful, as she danced in front of a massive beam of energy shooting into the sky (seriously, how many times have we seen that in superhero movies?) with a ridiculous booming voice. And her brother was just the most one-dimensional, poorly rendered CGI monstrosity in recent memory. And as for the Joker, Jared Leto destroyed what the Joker stands for. Instead of wanting chaos and carnage, this Joker is all about bling and power. It didn’t help that he had nothing to do with the movie, and could have been cut out without effecting the movie at all. The fact that this is our Joker for the next many years makes me lose faith in DC.

But now that I’ve gotten the cons out of the way, may I just say that the only two things about this movie that make it watchable are Margot Robbie and Will Smith as Harley Quinn and Deadshot respectively. These characters were the only two DC bothered to flesh out, with the best performances and scenes. Viola Davis also did a good job as Amanda Waller, but she wasn’t in enough of the movie as I would have liked.

Suicide Squad is the worst movie in the DCEU to date, with a mostly forgettable cast of characters, an inconsistent tone and an even worse structure than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I find most superhero movies too generic and soulless to enjoy them but „Suicide Squad“ gives this description a whole new meaning.
Not a single **** was given during watching this meaningless action adventure which gives us a bunch of DC Comics’s superheroes incarcerated for their crimes who save the world to get some years off.
By the way, for once, the general response to the superhero movie has been similar to mine, suggesting to not waste your time.
They battle some superhuman force which looks as mysterious and grand as something straight outta some children’s movie.
Even most of the superheroes themselves are neither cool nor interesting in any way. Except, maybe, Deadshot (Will Smith) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), who also have the most lines, including all the best ones.
Also appearing, Viola Davis diving straight for the paycheck this time, Jared Leto as Joker (original but toothless rendition of this great character), Joel Kinnaman, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara et al.
Almost everything feels devoid of creativity or fun in this movie. Where did they spend the huge 175 million dollar budget? The result doesn’t even look pretty or have gripping action scenes. Avoid!
And maybe avoid the inevitable sequel(s) too, because they surely are coming. For all the hate „Squad“ has gathered from critics and superhero afficionados and the regular moviegoers, it still managed to bring 745 million U.S. dollars from cinemas. How is it even possible?
I can’t believe this was written and directed by David Ayer, the man who gave us „Harsh Times“, „End of Watch“, and „Fury“ (also wrote „Training Day“ and „Dark Blue“). None of the good qualities he usually seems to possess are evident here. Let’s hope his upcoming Netflix fantasy action „Bright“ also starring Will Smith is much much better!
Watched an extended cut which adds 11 minutes for total of 134. Now I want the two hours of my life back.

I think they had a great idea and a nice cast but they did not manage to make a good movie. PRO`s:
-Amazing Margot Robbie as Harley Queen
-Great new concept of the Joker, brilliantly played by Leto in my opinion.

CON's
-Non charismathic villians. I did not like that egiptian semigood stuff
-They do not take profit of the great Joker they had.
-Some of the memebers of the Squad are barely mentioned on the film. They focus on Harley Queen, Deadshot, Diablo, and Rick Flair.

Reasons: Harley Quinn's voice is irritating AF. The story is dreadful, zero tension, zero cohesion and lame conclusion. Batman is shoehorned in with no purpose at all. Affleck looked embarrassed. The baddies look like they belong in Gods of Egypt if it was made in 1999. The songs are glaringly obvious and distracting. And to top it all - I actually enjoyed Leto's Joker in the cinema but watching at home he was actually making me feel physically ill. Just an awful, awful performance. He was obviously cut from the film because he was so awful. Ultimately though it fails, as usual, because of its pathetic script. 1 point for Jai Courtney. Expand

Start with a script that was a rushed in, record those scenes without much good insight over whether those scenes will serve well to the movie's potential success, add awful CGI in, edit the film (who knows how it was at this point), release a trailer that does not match the tone of the film, reshoot scenes to fit the tone of the trailer, add more (possibly worse) awful CGI, and re-edit the film through a trailer house (a TRAILER HOUSE), make two possibly very different versions of a movie, mush those two versions with two different tones, and finally, release the film, which at this point, somehow sounds implausible.

It really sucks; this movie could have been awesome. Instead, it's a small portion of what makes a good movie (three tenths, to be exact :P).

I did like Will Smiths performance as Dead-shot which fit in well with the plot and improved things for Enchantress vs the team but the cut/editing was just awful. The extended version should've just been released as normal but they have to charge extra for correcting their mistakes...and don't get me started on the soundtrack
P.s. The endings felt lazily slapped up as well (Not a spoiler)

The story telling was all over the map and the characters not very believable. The characters had no depth, they were not "complicated" they were confusing. This was a Sci-Fi channel movie with a larger budget. How was this fun? Will Smith just plays Will Smith, seen that million times. Jared Leto is a terrible Joker, I laughed at him, but not in the good way. Margot Robbie was ok. Not great, but ok.

I wanted this to be better, I really did. But please, have some respect for yourself and skip Suicide Squad.

Of course the movie was far from perfect, but what film is? The storyline to me was fairly straight forward, but all the actors brought their A+ game. Margot Robbie killed it as Harley Quinn, I love Margot Robbie's & Jared Leto's dynamic when they share the screen together. What of Jared Leto's Joker? I personally thought he was good, along the line of Mark Hamill's Joker. Elements of Brian Azzerello's & Lee Bermejo's Joker. Did he blow me away like Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight? Unfortunately, he didn't but to me that's due to him not having enough screen time to shine, but that's understandable, considering he's not apart of the Suicide Squad in the comics, only meant to be apart of Harley Quinn's story. Definitely has room to improve though & I love that duo though. Will Smith is Will Smith, he was great as Deadshot. Viola Davis from How to Get Away with Murder plays Amander Waller who's the one responsible for forming Task Force X, she nailed that role to the bone. I think the surprises, wild cards, were Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag, Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang, & Jay Hernandez's Diablo, definitely. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's Killer Croc & Karen Fukuhara's Katana to me was cool but only served more as action set pieces. A lot of reviewers said Cara Delevingne didn't shine as Enchantress, I actually kind of liked her role more than expected. The movie was actually a little bit of a tear jerker, had some moments. Overall as I said, I did enjoyed it, it was actually a fun movie. I'd also like to point out that David Ayer did a great job of choosing the music for the movie, props to him, and the score by Steven Price was absolutely great too. Expand

This is without doubt one of the best movies of the year and certainly one of the best comic book movies along side Batman vs superman, DC have pulled out all the stops to create the most fun and most exciting on screen characters this year and suicide squad is perfect! The story as much as you care to pick at it is good fun from beginning to end, plenty of brilliant character building and background along with a blend of great action and comedy moments too, classic memorable dialogue, the cast is top notch all round, especially to note Will Smith as on top form, Margot Robbie is absolutely on top form and is a fantastic colourful and unforgettable Harley Quinn, and not forgetting the most perfect on screen Joker ever Jared Leto, I really hope this guy gets his own movie, even though he's not the main focus of suicide squad he still steals every scene he's in. The effects are cool, the soundtrack is quality and its just overall the perfect example of a fun comic book movie, I hope for a sequel for sure, be sure to check this movie out for something a bit more original than usual.

I did consider giving this an 8/10, but the problem is the more I watched it out of the theater, I sort of lost my vibe with it a bit. But I still consider it to be a bit of an above average movie. Will Smith had quite a strong role in this movie, which I for sure dig. And the rest of the squad is pretty sweet, too. But even then I still feel like there were a few disappointments in the movie. But personally, they weren't that bad of disappointments. Trying to keep away from spoilers is challenging, because it seems anything in this movie can be a spoiler. I found that to be quite unfortunate, too. Because it's hard to keep a dedicated conversation in a movie like this. Even giving somebody that hasn't seen the movie a summary seems to be too much, too. Which does give off a bit of a blank slate in this movie. But hey, at least it got an Academy Award for Best Makeup.
TL:DR: 8/10 Worthy, but a few obstacles brought it down one.

An overwhelming amount of iconic pop songs are shoved in your face to make the movie’s uninspired fight scenes seem more exciting than they really are. This is all really a shame though, as a fantastic cast is laid to waste, having to muster up the energy to make dialogue, entirely comprised of cheesy one liners, work. As this movie feels like one giant distraction, this movie is perfect for you if you need to get your mind off the fact that (A) Your wife is cheating on you, or (B) Your aforementioned step child is getting bullied at school, or (C) Your wife is cheating on you with your son’s bully. Suck on that Rotten Tomatoes petitioners. Expand

The fun I derived from this was due to the interesting characters/jokes/performances than the actual dumb plot. It does get a rewatch now and again for sure.

Over-the-top corny action film that relies too heavily on CGI. Weak plot with poor dialogue. A movie to avoid even for fans of the genre.

The acting is oddly enough the best part of this movie. But everything else just makes no sense.

The perfect way to explain this is that the first 43 minutes of the movie is just a character introduction.. And at the end of that 43 minutes, I still don't care about a single person in this movie.....

The Suicide Squad Album also benefits from major tracks, some definitely in the perfect tone for the movie but also others that don't fit at all.

First of all there is something truly repelling about charcters in general: I found the Joker awful (I mean obviously not in the right 'awful way'), Batman looks so old and tired (plus he doesn't appear on screen more than 10 minutes, post-credit scene included), Harley Quinn is depicted in one of the most irritating way in addition to constantly be over-sexualized, Killer Croc is ridiculously thin and unimpressive despite the amamzing effect of the texture of his face and skin. However I don't get why he is licking himself and some objects from time to time. Seems to be that way in order to make him more repellent.

What is the most undeniable is the incredible lack of quality of 'Suicide Squad': the pace is really bad, the humour is as silly, lame and uneffective as dialogues, the scenario is unstructured, characters are all stereotyped, there are numerous unbearable cringy moments, many inconsistencies and the movie becomes incomprehensibly emotional as you get closer to the unforgettably predictable end. Despite these flaws I also can't deny the interesting flashbacks from Harley and Deadshot, an interesting artistic direction.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is quite an entertaining watch, in terms of the CGI/visual effects and action scenes, although I did feel the plot wasn't always entirely clear and I did feel like the film dragged a bit towards the end. However, I liked the range of characters and their different personalities - most notably the Joker and of course Harley Quinn. I was somehow surprised to see Will Smith playing Deadshot. The (superhero, or, more accurately, super-villain) characters made me think of the Fantastic Four. It's very much got a hyperactive and energetic feel to it, not just with the action scenes but with information provided in neon text shown, if anything, frustratingly briefly and with some scenes featuring bright lighting.

It's quite watchable, with decent battle scenes and the like and some amusing situations/moments but it's not the sort of film I'm likely to remember a great deal about shortly after seeing it. It's an entertaining watch with decent enough performances and the like and I imagine if you're a fan of the original comic books then you'd appreciate this (perhaps more than I do). Certainly not bad, I'd recommend this, if it appeals to you, yes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A film that relies on pure action and a good soundtrack only became popular because of the DC characters featured in this joke of a movie. The movie fails to make me care about the characters, even with backstories, the attempt of making me feel bad for the villains and making them all appear to be "good" dulled down the tone for me. Character casting and costume/makeup were the shining stars of this film and made the trip to the theaters somewhat worth it. I noticed many unnecessary parts of this film especially the inclusion of The Joker who added nothing but filler to this film. The main "villain" of this film was so forgettable that all I truly remember of her is how she looked, I felt no need to root for either side in the battles. A pointless movie for the plot of DC and only happened because of Superman's "death" in Batman vs Superman. A dead-end movie that only worsens DC's name and makes viewers feel embarrassed as they walk out of the theater. I feel truly sorry for anyone who was introduced to DC through this movie and I hope DC forgets about this failed attempt. Expand

When it first came out I thought it was just another action movie. But later I got to know that Joker will also be in it then I realised it's a DC movie. And not just any other DC movie, it's a follow-up to Batman v Superman. I watched this movie only to see Joker, and guess what? It's the only thing I didn't get to see. Then I watched it a second time after getting my facts clear. And guess what? I still didn't like it.

I thought Suicide Squad is supposed to be something I'm too immature to understand about, but then I saw Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, an episode from Season 2 in Arrow where the Suicide Squad is shown, and the trailers of both The Suicide Squad and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Turns out it's an excellent story, which got completely butchered thanks to studio meddling and poor character design.

The characters are straight up awful. Only Harley Quinn and Deadshot were good, and that's saying something because in reality Killer Croc is my favourite character out of them all. I hated Katana the most, since she seemed to have a plot armour and yet she didn't help in anything. Amanda Waller was absolutely hateable because of how she behaved. Amanda is supposed to be a jerk, yes. But she doesn't kill her own people. And Captain Boomerang. Oh my God, how they massacred my boy! The other characters like Rick Flag, I don't even know who they are, and the movie gave me no reason to care about them.

The villains, however, were awesome. I was rooting for them, because they looked and behaved way better. Even their henchmen were cool. I wanted them to beat up the Suicide Squad and show them their place. But sadly it's a generic good guys win and bad guys lose movie, so I had no other option but to deal with it.

Many people are saying that if The Ayer Cut is released this movie will become good. I want to ask them, do you think The Ayer Cut is something like The Snyder Cut? No, it will be more like Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition, with only added runtime to explain everything and give more runtime to Joker, but it won't change the director's original vision. That will still remain the same. I may care about the characters more, but the fact that Katana and Harley Quinn have a plot armour and that no one died except Captain Boomerang won't change.

Although I'm no expert, so I do want The Ayer Cut to release. I will watch it and then I may come back to change my review. But for now, it's gonna be a bad movie for me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A colorful movie in which Will Smith shows again what a great actor he is.
In the whole movie, he gradually seems to take control like he's leading the whole team.

And about the team, the villains, I've known some of them from DC and comics, some of them were similar to heroes from other sagas (maybe even copies), and all-in-all, the outlaws make up a team, with all the inherent clichés, to take the mission to success or die trying.

I've pretty liked the movie, as I just saw it for the second time, and although it has its critics, maybe I've liked it just because I was used to some characters already.

The music is well picked.
