So basically i still enjoy most of the movie, i still entertained and engaged in the story most of the time, it's just that the climax of the movie just didn't work for me and it was super boring, and after i watch the movie, problems startedSo basically i still enjoy most of the movie, i still entertained and engaged in the story most of the time, it's just that the climax of the movie just didn't work for me and it was super boring, and after i watch the movie, problems started to come more, from the main villain of the movie that are not that great but it's not terrible either, i wish we've seen it more in the movie, yes, Jared Leto's Joker wasn't particularly good, some couple of slow scene in the first two act not including the third act and climax, but what really makes Suicide Squad still works in a way is because the Suicide Squad themselves, each of the characters works and their performed it good enough in my opinion, and the sort of military people also works which is great, the team's backstory especially Will Smith Deadshot works perfectly, and the soundtrack of the film was great, so overall Suicide Squad was definitely far from perfect and it is fills with problematic stuff but i myself was entertaining most of the film and there is still quite a lot of legit good moments in the film, i'd say the first two act was mostly good, third act was meh, and it just some decisions in it and boring climax plus the rest of the stuff i already mention ruined it, it was overall an ok movie.… Expand

To me he was enjoyable to watch because of how cringe and goofy he was. While Ayer mostly succeeds, the film struggles with "Hobbit Syndrome" where there are too many peripheral characters who are underdeveloped. Some characters, like El Diablo and Killer Croc, are entertaining but not given enough depth to truly make an impact. The villains of the movie are also underwhelming and unmemorable, with the exception of Viola Davis' portrayal of Amanda Waller as a ruthless government operative. Will Smith and Margot Robbie shine as Deadshot and Harley Quinn, respectively, providing both humor and depth to their characters. The visuals of the film are striking and vibrant, but the editing and pacing of the film can be disjointed at times. Overall, Suicide Squad has its moments of entertainment but falls short in its character development and villain execution.

Then, as the action began, much of it was too dark, making it difficult to see what was going on. Although these characters are supposed to be super-villains, the film didn't seem particularly violent. It would have been great if it had been as vicious as "Kick-Ass" or even "Dredd," but I suppose the producers wanted it to have a PG-13 rating. The cast is sufficiently sturdy; ROBBIE MARGOT

Once again the critics have proved themselves to be out of touch and irrelevant as last night I watched one of the most fun movies in an age at theCritics and Marvel Trolls, chill; DC and Movie Fans everywhere, have fun with your Squad!

Once again the critics have proved themselves to be out of touch and irrelevant as last night I watched one of the most fun movies in an age at the cinema and literally left the theatre grinning from ear to ear. I'm not a film critic but I believe I know movies and after trawling through some of the worst (written) reviews that I've ever read, I'm definitely confused.com. Late twenties Rotten Tomatoes score??? Not even anywhere close to representing the film I experienced.

Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto et al, absolutely nailed it and David Ayer's recent twitter post played out for me throughout the entire film... Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life. ❤️ The soundtrack and original score are also both fantastic and the mid credits stinger is just the icing on the cake.

This movie is junk, messy, and grossly nonsensical.
There are no good and memorable scenes and you fall asleep in the middle of the movie.One-on-one characterizations are worse.
The only strengths of Margo Robbie are Will Smith and two Batman scenes.

Worst movie ever. Coming back to write this review years after I saw it because it still bothers me how bad it was. This is quite an entertaining watch, in terms of the CGI/visual effects and action scenes, although I did feel the plot wasn't always entirely clear and I did feel like the film dragged a bit towards the end. However, I liked the range of characters and their different personalities - most notably the Joker and of course Harley Quinn. I was somehow surprised to see Will Smith playing Deadshot. The (superhero, or, more accurately, super-villain) characters made me think of the Fantastic Four. It's very much got a hyperactive and energetic feel to it, not just with the action scenes but with information provided in neon text shown, if anything, frustratingly briefly and with some scenes featuring bright lighting.

It's quite watchable, with decent battle scenes and the like and some amusing situations/moments but it's not the sort of film I'm likely to remember a great deal about shortly after seeing it. It's an entertaining watch with decent enough performances and the like and I imagine if you're a fan of the original comic books then you'd appreciate this (perhaps more than I do). Certainly not bad, I'd recommend this, if it appeals to you, yes.… Expand

From the beginning the soundtrack appear to be interesting, even if contains many overly popular rock and pop songs here and there. First of all there is something truly repelling about charcters in general: I found the Joker awful (I mean obviously not in the right 'awful way'), Batman looks so old and tired (plus he doesn't appear on screen more than 10 minutes, post-credit scene included), Harley Quinn is depicted in one of the most irritating way in addition to constantly be over-sexualized, Killer Croc is ridiculously thin and unimpressive despite the amamzing effect of the texture of his face and skin. However I don't get why he is licking himself and some objects from time to time. Seems to be that way in order to make him more repellent.

What is the most undeniable is the incredible lack of quality of 'Suicide Squad': the pace is really bad, the humour is as silly, lame and uneffective as dialogues, the scenario is unstructured, characters are all stereotyped, there are numerous unbearable cringy moments, many inconsistencies and the movie becomes incomprehensibly emotional as you get closer to the unforgettably predictable end. Despite these flaws I also can't deny the interesting flashbacks from Harley and Deadshot, an interesting artistic direction.… Expand

After watching the movie in the cinema, I was a little disappointed, I expected more. But after reviewing it at home, I came to the conclusion that the film was still a success, despite the incompletely revealed potential. It was not possible to reach the declared highest bar, but even so, the film is good enough.

Regarding the Joker, Heath Ledger's level was not achieved, but this is not Jared Leto's fault. Here, the Joker does not have a key role, as in The Dark Knight, and enough screen time. There he acted as a very cunning madman, but here he turned out to be just a madman. And in this role, Jared played perfectly.

Special effects, camera work and other components are at a traditionally high level for this kind of films. As a result, despite the fact that the masterpiece did not work out, we have before us a funny, entertaining, sometimes even touching blockbuster that is worth watching.… Expand

The writing, directing and action all aren’t great, and it’s a real shame because the story and underlying concept are pretty good and the cast of this movie is phenomenal. This movie feels incredibly rushed as though it was done in a hurry in meet production deadlines and like it needed more work done on it to be complete. Most of the scenes are sloppy, choppy and awkward and lack the finesse they would need to help the movie flow smoothly and be enjoyable to watch. Many of them should’ve been done very differently, and to be honest this movie would’ve benefited from a total rethinking and reshooting. The movie tries to be “cool” at times via some lines in the script, but ends up giving off an immature vibe that begs for the script to be workshopped and edited. The actors do their best with what they’re given in this movie and actually do decent jobs with their characters, but it isn’t even close to enough to overcome all the flaws in this movie. The movie gives the characters backstories, an actually redeeming quality, so that we can have some context for who these characters are, but these stories don’t add much emotion or depth to the film and seem like they were thrown in there to help fill the runtime. This in turn takes away from the truly important parts of the movie and doesn’t allow for climatic moments, deep storytelling or emotional moments, which is ironic because this movie is called “Suicide Squad”. That name would suggest an inherently high stakes and emotional nature to the movie, and it doesn’t really live up to that. What we get is a movie that emphasizes shooting, explosions and slang and ignores the deep core ideas behind its premise. There are also a few scenes that are totally unnecessary and don’t do much for the movie. If you’re a teenage boy/girl who loves shooting games, talking in slang and doesn’t care about good storytelling, this is a great movie for you. However, if you’re someone looking to get a bit more out of a movie, you probably won’t enjoy this too much. Хотя мне лично он понравился, сразу говорю, никакого ВАУ эффекта не будет, от фильма вы быстро отвыкнете, но это не значит то что он плохой, но и сверх хорошим его тоже я не могу назвать. В первую очередь для меня главное в фильмах это сюжет, в этом фильме сюжет настолько прост, что в середине фильм превращается в обыкновенный шутер, и диалоги, за которыми интересно наблюдать, битвы конечно тоже выполнены не плохо, но когда всё смотришь на них без всякого разнообразия, тебя это уже не забавляет. Ещё из минусов отметил бы графику, спецэффекты которые на момент 2016 года выглядели не плохо, но не современно, сейчас же это смотрится просто терпимо. Ещё фильм ощутился мне каким до не полноценным, филлером, хотя это не так, опять таки это из за слабого сюжета. За что реально можно похвалить картину - это персонажи и их актёрский состав, и саундтрек, он просто шикарен, особенно главная музыка фильма, которая начинает проигрывать в первых титрах.… Expand

But it really isn't as bad as many people say, and I think the general movie goer isn't going to find this movie boring. At the least, it is worth one watch to challenge your expectations, so If you feel like doing so about something people say is bad, but is... perfectly below average (a 6 as appose to a 2), I would say give this one a shot. In the whole movie, he gradually seems to take control like he's leading the whole team.

And about the team, the villains, I've known some of them from DC and comics, some of them were similar to heroes from other sagas (maybe even copies), and all-in-all, the outlaws make up a team, with all the inherent clichés, to take the mission to success or die trying.

I've pretty liked the movie, as I just saw it for the second time, and although it has its critics, maybe I've liked it just because I was used to some characters already.

I'll get this straight - I didn't know what Suicide Squad was before this movie came. When it first came out I thought it was just another action movie. But later I got to know that Joker will also be in it then I realised it's a DC movie.I'll get this straight - I didn't know what Suicide Squad was before this movie came. When it first came out I thought it was just another action movie. But later I got to know that Joker will also be in it then I realised it's a DC movie. And not just any other DC movie, it's a follow-up to Batman v Superman. I watched this movie only to see Joker, and guess what? It's the only thing I didn't get to see. Then I watched it a second time after getting my facts clear. And guess what? I still didn't like it.

I thought Suicide Squad is supposed to be something I'm too immature to understand about, but then I saw Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, an episode from Season 2 in Arrow where the Suicide Squad is shown, and the trailers of both The Suicide Squad and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Turns out it's an excellent story, which got completely butchered thanks to studio meddling and poor character design.

The characters are straight up awful. Only Harley Quinn and Deadshot were good, and that's saying something because in reality Killer Croc is my favourite character out of them all. I hated Katana the most, since she seemed to have a plot armour and yet she didn't help in anything. Amanda Waller was absolutely hateable because of how she behaved. Amanda is supposed to be a jerk, yes. But she doesn't kill her own people. And Captain Boomerang. Oh my God, how they massacred my boy! The other characters like Rick Flag, I don't even know who they are, and the movie gave me no reason to care about them.

The villains, however, were awesome. I was rooting for them, because they looked and behaved way better. Even their henchmen were cool. I wanted them to beat up the Suicide Squad and show them their place. But sadly it's a generic good guys win and bad guys lose movie, so I had no other option but to deal with it.

Many people are saying that if The Ayer Cut is released this movie will become good. I want to ask them, do you think The Ayer Cut is something like The Snyder Cut? No, it will be more like Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition, with only added runtime to explain everything and give more runtime to Joker, but it won't change the director's original vision. That will still remain the same. I may care about the characters more, but the fact that Katana and Harley Quinn have a plot armour and that no one died except Captain Boomerang won't change.

Although I'm no expert, so I do want The Ayer Cut to release. I will watch it and then I may come back to change my review. But for now, it's gonna be a bad movie for me.… Expand

I kinda feel bad rating it so low, because there were things I liked about it (the actors do pretty fine job) and it wasn't painful to watch like Justice League,
but the fact that I couldn't tell you a thing about the plot, the villain or any of the characters says a lot about the true quality of this movie.

This felt so **** rushed.
I thought I sat on the fast-forward button.

Overall, more than anything, this was just really boring.

Still better than Justice League though.… Expand

An enjoyable movie that has good action, humor and a great cast. However it has some problems that lead to the mixed reception. In short it is the kind of hit or miss movies. In short it is the kind of hit or miss movies. Short introduction: The Suicide Squad in DC comics is a bunch of criminals that is hired via brain bombs for a black ops government agency lead by Amanda Waller. They can reduce their sentences that way (Ever wondered why they are so often out of prison again in addition to good lawyers). Amanda Waller is a force to be recognized and made even Batman stand down a few times. She is smart, capable and ruthless. When you want things to get done she is the top choice. Here they transferred the concept into a movie. Amanda Waller wanted to create a team that can handle superpowered beings. She argued what when the next Superman was evil they need someone who stops him. While a complaint was they picked a team that could not stand a chance against Supes it could be a small scale test (Before they use stronger people). While it mostly worked it has its weaknesses and strengths. Lets start with the positives: The cast. I think Margot Robbie nailed Harley Quinn, Will Smith is a great Deathshot and Viola Davis is a good Amanda Waller. The other actors deliver and I will point out Jay Hernandez as El Diablo for his great performance. For the rest they had lesser screentime but did the best with it. The action scenes are done well and I enjoyed the final showdown. The story is O.K. but a bit underwhealming. Could done more with this IP. Visuals and effects are also good. The soundtrack is great but depends on preferences. Ben Affleck as Batman is O.K but was done for marketing. Finally the humor is great. The negatives are: Amanda Waller is less competent and capable as in the comics. The villain is a bit weak and too much cliche. They did more with her character in the comics. The Joker scenes and style are not that great (According to some actors there was far better material that was cut out of the movie). Some parts of the story are unbelievable. They could have done more with the characters in general. Overall an enjoyable movie that I would still recommend. DC did a lot worse and this is rewatchable if not more. Bonus reommendation: The animated Suicide Squad Assault on Arkham is better and should / could be used as blueprint.… Expand

The movie fails to make me care about the characters, even with backstories, the attempt of making me feel bad for the villains and making them all appear to be "good" dulled down the tone for me. Character casting and costume/makeup were the shining stars of this film and made the trip to the theaters somewhat worth it. I noticed many unnecessary parts of this film especially the inclusion of The Joker who added nothing but filler to this film. The main "villain" of this film was so forgettable that all I truly remember of her is how she looked, I felt no need to root for either side in the battles. A pointless movie for the plot of DC and only happened because of Superman's "death" in Batman vs Superman. A dead-end movie that only worsens DC's name and makes viewers feel embarrassed as they walk out of the theater. I feel truly sorry for anyone who was introduced to DC through this movie and I hope DC forgets about this failed attempt.… Expand

Yes, the movie is undeniably rough around the edges, but, y'see, it's the performers, their characters, and their interactions that makes this movie - forgive me - pretty friggin' dope to watch. I've seen a lot of movies. I have seen a lot of good movies. I've seen a lot of bad movies. Suicide Squad is a bad movie. However, it is bad in a unique way. This is the first movie I've ever watched that made me feel genuine embarrassment. II've seen a lot of movies. I have seen a lot of good movies. I've seen a lot of bad movies. Suicide Squad is a bad movie. However, it is bad in a unique way. This is the first movie I've ever watched that made me feel genuine embarrassment. I wasn't even out in public. I was watching this at home, and this movie made me feel embarrassed for ever liking DC Comics.

Where to begin? The pacing is atrocious. The film doesn't know how to start. The final cut feels like a dozen trailers edited together. The editing itself is awful. The soundtrack is insulting. The script is predictable. The dialogue is hollow. The visual effects feel dated. The action feels dull. The lighting is bland. The cinematography is uninspired. The character's motivations are whatever is convenient to the plot. The actors performances are truly awful. The film also cannot decide on what tone it wants to have.

On top of this, the movie is mind-numbingly boring. I was watching this at home with some friends, and they fell asleep! We weren't even watching it late at all! Ugh. This might be the worst DC movie. I think the only people that like this movie are people that like to pleasure themselves to Harley Quinn. I know that statement is probably going to get this review a lot of downvotes from the Metacritic trolls, but I don't care. Bring it on!… Expand

The writing is horrendous, several characters are brought in for no apparent reason (Katana and Killer Croc come to mind as both serve very little relevance to the plot), and the general plot of this movie has me questioning why I should care about it.

While Smith and Robbie shine as making the most of their characters and delivering performances that have me excited for the future of their characters, the rest of the cast falls prey to poor writing and does little to try to make the most of it. In addition the third act of this film is a sequence of CGI fights that are immediately forgettable and nothing short of sheer disappointing.

Following the criticism of Batman v Superman and Man of Steel for being "too dark", the producers of this film attempted to mimic Marvel's style of superhero film that is full of action and quips, but ultimately falls flat on its face. If any film in the DCEU is supposed to have a dark, grim tone, this is it, but reshoots and creative differences amongst the producers of this film create an inconsistent tone that makes it hard to follow.

The soundtrack is random and rarely appropriate for the scene its matched with while the film feels like it is more about setting up the future of the DCEU (a future that is now just as muddy as the plot of this film) rather than telling a coherent story.

Now to address the elephant in the room: the Joker. Jared Leto's Joker is far from the best representation of the Joker that we have seen on the screen and it might quite possibly be the worst. However I do believe that his iteration of the character is not complete trash as others would have you believe. Drawing from Golden Age source material (as opposed to Ledger's bronze/modern age interpretation), Leto's performance successfully portrays the "gangster" archetype of the Joker from that period. Nevertheless, this is not the correct version of the Joker and Leto does fail to deliver a praiseworthy performance.

Suicide Squad is a mess. The DCEU is a mess. You're better off investing time in the MCU or rewatching the Dark Knight trilogy until the mess is cleaned up.… Expand

The movie tries to accomplish too many things at once. It tries to be both lighthearted, funny and at the same time serious, and emotional. It only comes off as a ridiculous collection of horrible cliches.

The writing is bad, the directing is bad, and when these two things are bad - the actors, as good as they are, can't fix it. There is some pretty good acting - but their lines are horrible.
The characters are so hollow and empty - at no point in the movie was I ever convinced, even for a minute, than any character was genuine. They all behaved shifting irregularly between overdoses of eccentricity, and overdoses of seriousness.
The plot was mellow, to say the least.
The ending was so bad, so cliched, I found myself grimacing, cringing, and actually fast-forwarding an overly-smeared moment of undeserved slow-motion.
Nothing can fix bad writing combined with bad directing.
I felt genuinely sad for the actors that agreed to take part in this ridiculous creation.
I find it very sad, that managers in charge of such magnificent intellectual property characters can't find it in their minds to be original.
I kept remembering how brilliant, deep, and incredibly convincing The Dark Knight movie was, and I believe a good writer, with a good director, and obviously all this needs a competent producer - could come up with a movie to blow the audience's minds and last for years and years. The Batman proved it possible.
Suicide Squad feels like the production didn't even aim high, honestly - they knew people would pay money to see a high-budget super-villain movie, so nobody really cared if the movie itself was a complete disaster.
And this is exactly what Suicide Squad is: an unimpressive disaster of the worst kind: the boring, cliched, daddy-jokes kind.
No need to even begin to watch this - just go watch clips of the Joker & Harley on youtube - because those moments are as good as the movie gets. The rest is unnecessary garbage.… Expand
