Revenge succeeds at an epic scale unprecedented in the Star Wars saga, and weaves a tragedy so epic and iconic that the flaws of the trilogy are long forgotten by the end.

It was sad watching Anakin Groundflyer become Thomas the X-Wing Train as he fell into the lava from digging straight down but in the end Micheal Jackson asking if Annie is ok was confusing because of how Annie died in the beginning of the miniseries from the explosion of the titanic caused by Thanos Skywalker. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avenge of the Jedi was so good movie, seeing anakin floorflyer awaken his pink lightsaber was very girly and gave me barbie boy vibes. Though I hate obi Wong Keyesbi why did he have to slice off anakin floorflyer ears. He couldve just licked peanut butter out of my dog aand spit on padme. I still don't get why the fight was set on planet mustafar instead of disney land. The setting made my child have eternal nightmares for the rest of his life now i must seal him in the darkness and feed him bath salts everyday. I also noticed after i watched this movie walt disney started throwing gang signs at me so i farted on his chest and ran away to rob national bank then escape planet earth. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An absolutely fantastic and heart-wrenching conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy. It had to work to make Anakin a quality character after Episode II, but boy, did it. He's legitimately more likeable and relatable in the movie where he turns into a planet destroying supervillain than in the movie where he's supposed to just be a goodhearted teen with anger issues. It's beautifully terrible to see Palpatine manipulating him, promising him help just to take power for himself... The visual design and effects are breathtaking. (Seriously, how is this the one Star Wars movie not to be nominated for Best Visual Effects?) The worldbuilding is fantastic. The writing and characters are the best they've been since Vader and Luke in Return of the Jedi. It does have a few flaws: the Kashyyk part feels a bit like fanservice/filler, the very final moments of Anakin's fall are a tad confusing, Padme's death feels a bit dumb, and the Order 66 scene is less impactful if you haven't seen the CG Clone Wars show, which hadn't come out yet by the time of the film's release. In my opinion, it's a more significantly flawed film than Episode I. But it's highs are so very high... The score, as in all of the Prequels, is fantastic, and when Obi-Wan says "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!"... Oh my gosh. This is truly a beautiful film in so many ways.
9/10.

Sure, the writing is weak, the dialog is almost laughable at times and the characters are mostly flimsy. Revenge of the Sith, though, is still the third-best Star Wars film, if only for the opening space battle scene, the Anakin-Padme staring out the windows at each other across the city scene, and the final Obi-Wan vs. Anakin fight alone. Talk to a child who was my age when I first experienced A New Hope (about 4 years old) and you'll see that these new fans are jazzed about the new Trilogy the same way. These are kids movies, afterall, and the toys sales and video games prove it. Expand

I have seen all the Star Wars pictures(hey, I'm from North America, folks) even though I'm not particularly a Star Wars buff. Of all the Star Wars pictures, this is the only one with any serious emotional resonance for me. In the I have seen all the Star Wars pictures(hey, I'm from North America, folks) even though I'm not particularly a Star Wars buff. Of all the Star Wars pictures, this is the only one with any serious emotional resonance for me. In the all the early Star Wars pictures, George Lucas was trying to recapture the old Flash Gordon serials in high tech terms with an overlay of New Age mysticism. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. This is the only movie, to be blunt, where I think George Lucas is doing some serious thinking. He's contemplating why someone might turn to (if one might use an old-fashioned term here) evil. This gives the whole thing a gravitas that the rest of the series simply doesn't have. While I suppose this film gives the viewer (to use a degraded bit of modern-day post-modern jargon) closure in respect to the character of Darth Vader, and the film ties up various plot and thematic odds and ends, it cuts much deeper. George, who has clearly read Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", depicts how Anakin Skywalker's outer deformity grows out of his inner deformity. And George's perceptions here are on a higher level than the rest of the films. He appreciates that Evil (if, again, I may use the term) is often a strange combination of bad intentions and good intentions. That is a very 21st century perception, miles away from the original "Star Wars." And, surprisingly, there is even some wit here. At one point, a character arrives at a planet, proclaiming,'I have come in regards to the War." The alien replies,"There is no War here. Perhaps you brought one with you?" Ho, ho! Leave aside the whole question of highbrow and lowbrow. This is a great shaft of wit, period. If George had only written this one line, he'd deserve to live forever. This is, figuratively and literally, the darkest Star Wars picture and quite rightly so. The sadness and the sense of dark inevitability are oddly haunting in their way here. It is said that Japanese popular culture is obsessed with the Star Wars mythos. This is the film, in my opinion, that justifies the fascinationg. If I had to have only one Star Wars picture, this would be it. Greg Cameron, Surrey, B.C., Canada. Expand

There's no question that George Lucas on his own cannot write good dialogue as some of it here is cringe inducing terrible and since this is when all the story threads come together, it's all the more disappointing when it doesn't land. Episode III is saved by its stunning visuals, music and action set pieces that easily make it the most entertaining and somewhat satisfying entry to this trilogy of Star Wars films. Expand

One thing I feel I have to address: It's completely unacceptable that Darth Vader would say "NOOOOOOO!" when finding out that his lover is dead, but yet it perfectly acceptable when Luke says "NOOOOOOOOO!" after finding out Darth Vader is his father in the original trilogy? You people are hypocritical morons, and it's not surprising since you people already have biased opinions on the prequel trilogy in the first place. Please, go back to pretending that the original trilogy was perfect and the prequels did nothing at all. The more you say it, the more I know who's worthless opinions to ignore.

It's the story we all wanted from the start and it's actually a pretty good movie, both from a personal and critical point of view. The main antagonist; Anakin Skywalker is constantly under the dark pressure from his darker self, and the film does give a great inside how he became the main protagonist we all know of. His character is under an enormous pressure, and we see him develop and change in a smart and clever way. The acting by Hayden Christensen is debatable, but it's a great improvement since 'Attack of The Clones' even though he still does lack a greater and a more mature performance. This continuation got one new major character; General Grievous, who might have had a perhaps too fast introduction, and was defeated in the same vast speed. He lack the same character-depth like Count Dooku, but of course not the awesomeness since he's a very menacing and an overall awesome villain. The rest of the main characters are all well presented and there's great interactions between most of them, even though the romance between Anakin and Padmé still got some dry and forced moments, but it's still somewhat okay to watch. The dialogs however; are not as acceptable. There are still some very forced, unnecessary, dumb and weird dialogs. Sometimes you got to wonder why George won't learn from his mistakes (I'm looking at you episode I & II). The vast amount of forced expositions through dialogs are also a major aspect of this third installment, but the dialogs are still not as bad as the previous films, and there are some really good ones (surprisingly!). Still, there are some really stupid moments all over the film where characters really have to explain what they feel, even though it really is obvious through the character's facial expression. Horrible.

Moving on to the action. The first act might be one of the best aspects with this movie, it's both intense and really action-packed! The whole film got much of that aspect, including many spectacular visuals and CGI. The combination with the touching music and incredible cinematography only makes it better. The plot is miles greater than what we saw in episode one and two, and there's much more feel and emotion to the story too. The third act is a big part of the Star Wars-franchise, because it connects the prequels and the original films. I really think it's an emotional part of this movie, even though the climax is a bit too overdramatic and perhaps too long. Since we all know how things are going to transpire (after ep III) is the fight between the main characters too overdramatic, and unnecessary. It lost the feel after going on for too long. It doesn't make the film greater that there are some plot holes too, but just a few of them.

'Revenge of The Sith' is the film we all wanted, but had too wait through two less impressive prequels to get here. It's a much better film and it's the story we all wanted from the start!

Personal rating: 80/100
Critical rating: 59/100

I like the plots and must admit that the Jedi are partly to blame for their downfall (See also Bonus Star Wars knowledge). I will not say they are evil. They are paralysed by their dogmas and cant evolve. The order needed reforms and Anakin would be the right person with Obi Wan and other as guidance. They fall into the trap to easily. I like the portrait of Anakin's struggle. He tries to save his loved ones by means he would never consider otherwise. This is something anyone can relate. Question yourself what you would do save your family, friends or loved ones. Palpatine (Ian Mc Diarmid) is a brilliant plotter and here he can shine. You can see him enjoy the fruition of his plans. If I have a complaint I would say he should make the galaxy a paradise for everyone. This would be an even more ultimate victory and would taint the Jedi order forever (Example: Do you know the story of Darth Sidious the great? The most liked emperor of all times. The man that ended slavery and poverty in the galaxy. The man they erected statues and named hospitals / universities on each world?;-). But this don't affect my rating. My two real complaints are the high ground advantage (Works not on one on one. It works in army size conflicts) and Padmes (Natalie Portman) fate. The explanation for her demise is ridiculous. Like so many times I don't blame the actress. She does an awesome job in this movie. It is the script for this scene that lessens the experience. I will also praise Obi Wan (Ewan Mc Gregor) for his role. I hope they make an Obi Wan movie (At the time of writing it looks like they cancelled it). Then there are the intense battles. . They are the best in all Star Wars. Of cause like always there is the score from John Williams. He is a staple for film music and a real genius. Overall the prequel trilogy is not as bad as fans made it. The new trilogy will even improve this statement. I really enjoyed this movie and did even rewatch it. Bonus Star Wars knowledge: Did you know that being a Sith is totally legal by republic law (Even long before the prequels)? It is freedom of religion. Attacking some one on base of this alone would be comparable to a hate crime in our world. The best traps are the ones that the targets will not avoid comes to my mind. Expand

This movie is no doubt the best prequel in the trilogy compared to its two predecessors, especially when (SPOILER ALERT) Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. The once horrendous 'Star Wars' prequels come to a surprisingly satisfying end.

'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' is the third installment of the prequels and we finally get to see the dark and troubled Aankin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) become the legendary Darth Vader (voiced by James Earl Jones reprising his role). The movie begins with a space battle between the Galactic Republic and the Separatists. The action here is very well done, both Anakin and his mentor Obi Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) with dazzling colors and fast-paced choreography.

Their mission is to save Chancellor Palpatine from the commander, General Grievous. Anakin manages to take down Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) and they all return safely. The one issue I have with this scene is that Anakin takes down Dooku with very little struggle, their battle lasts for roughly 5 minutes. Perhaps it's to do with the fact that Dooku is old, (Christopher Lee was hitting his 80s at the time anyway).

Anakin receives news from his lover Padme (Natalie Portman) that she is pregnant, he tries not to let it affect him, but he keeps getting nightmares that she might die at childbirth. Meanwhile, Palpatine wants Anakin to join the Jedi Council as his representative, but is turned down, and Obi Wan orders Anakin to spy on the Chancellor.

Palpatine tells the vulnerable Anakin all about the dark side and how he would be able to "cheat death", Anakin then informs Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) about it and he fights with Palpatine, but Anakin then gives in to Palpatine's tricks.

One of the most exciting battle sequences involve Obi Wan fighting General Grievous which involves Grievous whipping out four lightsabers and the choreography is one of the best I've seen. Another great scene involves Obi Wan fighting Anakin with lava surrounding the two of them, and their relationship is put to the test as Anakin is seduced to the dark side.

The movie's strengths is mainly found within the opening sequence and towards the third act, the middle act does stretch on for longer than it should do as it is mainly dialogue-ridden and just...well plain boring at times. The third act does contain some great acting as the young actors (mainly Christensen) start to show more emotion, Christensen does frown a lot throughout this movie, we very rarely see him smile or showcase more emotions.

The dialogue is still as crummy as ever, but the actors have finally found a way to make it work, but the movie's strengths are found mainly within the battle sequences. Not only is this the best of the prequels, but if you can skim over the stiff acting, and the long middle act, it is a much better "Star Wars" movie than most will give it credit for.

'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' gets a solid 8/10...

I would argue that EpIII is the best of the prequels. its not perfect however (in my opinion)

The movie has a better tone than the other prequels , for example it never stops to play random ''humour'' with C3pO like in AoTC.

However they made the B-1s into full blown clowns. there is a lore reason for that , so I will let it slide but I dont like it very much (same issue with TCW) There is a lot of slapstick with the B-1s , something I dont care for , but it does not ruin my immersion , its just something that bothers me from time to time but not to the point that it hurts the movie.

The plot however is very fun , its darker and is so close to being amazing. But the bits it gets right , it nails on the head

The acting has improved -a lot.
Anakin and obi-wan actualy act like brothers in RoTS , padme seems very worried and scared in the movie.

All in all I think RoTS is a good movie.

I have issues with the movie , but unlike in TPM or ATC none of them are stand-out moments just ''bits''

It's also very dark, thanks to some exciting characterisation and the music that adds so much to this film. 'Revenge of the Sith' is probably the best it could have been considering what it was left to work with, saved by (mostly) great acting, amazing action scenes, and the whole last 40 minutes which are just spine-tingling in comparison to anything in the other prequels
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It's still bogged down by petty politics and average writing. And like all the prequels it still suffers from being pretty dragged out too
VERDICT: A memorable and moving Star Wars prequel finally worthy of a place in the trilogy.

Whilst it doesn't step up to the prowess of Empire Strikes Back, the 3rd and final prequel feels much more genuine and thought out than the previous installments (possibly because it had the most story to cover).

Technological advancements in CGI (which is oft thrown around carelessly in the Prequels) has much improved and sparks a great deal of colour and life into the film; Lucas' ability to create worlds and aliens makes for breathtaking scenes and fun battlescapes.

Similarly, characters feel much more developed and authentic. Hayden Christensen's Anakin is better written and it shows that he is a more talented actor than most people will have you believe. Many scenes feel more emotional with the stakes higher and the theme darker. A host of other astounding actors (Ewan McGregor, Christopher Lee, Samuel L Jackson etc) are better utilized with the stronger story. New characters such as General Grievous liven up the story without detracting from it too.

The dialogue is still somewhat archaic, but many lines are memorable and hilarious (Thanks R/Prequelmemes) as well as carrying the story much better dropping the stakes for a quick laugh. However, its not perfect and does hold the movie back from its full potential.

Personally, I rank this film tied 2nd with A New Hope and just behind the Empire Strikes back. Despite its flaws, it is a lovable and emotional adventure.

We can actually see some chemistry between Obi-Wan and Anakin, too bad we can not say the same about Anakin and Padmé as their scenes always feel bland except for that scene where they through the windows of the Jedi Temple and the Coruscant apartment(??) and they actually don't speak at all. Ewan McGregor is the heart and soul of this movie as well as Ian McDiarmid. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Revenge of the Sith is the greatest Star Wars prequel. The movie takes all of the biggest Star Wars prequel criticisms and completely eradicates them. Revenge of the Sith is not too long, the plot makes sense, the dialogue is far superior to the last two, and Jar Jar only has one line in the film. Revenge of the Sith also keeps the best part about the prequels, the fight choreography, and capitalizes on it.
The entire point of the prequels is to represent how Anakin plunged into the dark side. In the prequels, Anakin is presented as a human with human emotions, not a Jedi that’s subject to the Jedi code. Anakin turns because of loyalty to the man he respects and the desire to protect human life. Anakin must choose between two fathers, representative of two sides. Obi-Wan represents the light and Palpatine represents the darkness. Both sides are using Anakin to get something they desire, both not recognizing him as an equal. This concept is immoral no matter how moral the cause is. Both Fathers fail to do their job, and for that, it eventually leads to their death.

Still not perfect, but 'Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith' is such a more enjoyable entry in the prequel trilogy - which ends strongly.

I had a fun time with this. I do have a couple of (relatively minor) complaints, but first the positives. I'd say this is the best that this cast produced during this run of films. Hayden Christensen is excellent in his role, it's the most I've liked him in 'Star Wars' for sure. Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman give more than solid performances as well.

The special effects look nice throughout, while the score is pleasant. I also found the pacing to be practically ideal, which is a marked improvement on its predecessors. The humour and dialogue still isn't great, yet is also bettered. Crucially, the plot is very good.

With all that noted, I do have two things I didn't love. The first being the event that includes Samuel L. Jackson's character. I completely get the intention and reasoning of what occurs, but how it is shown did feel kinda forced and poorly written.

Another is the end, which overruns ever so slightly. I know it's setting up the original trilogy, but there are a few too many scenes; could've/should've ended on you know who's first breath.

However, all in all, I got a positive amount of entertainment and would class this as a step above the preceding two films. I'm glad about that, as it makes the prequel productions way more meaningful and memorable than they were looking to be based on the 1999 & 2002 releases.

What is left to say about Darth Vader? One of the greatest characters ever written, brilliantly
performed by Christensen. Revenge of the Sith makes Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi even better

On the other hand, it also proves how unnecessary Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are, which could have been reduced to a 30 minute prologue. In a nutshell, you could say Revenge of the Sith equals EPIC.

Although not absolutely perfect, Revenge of the Sith is definitely an improvement over the previous two films. It’s the saddest and darkest of the films, but that’s a good thing. It’s also more action packed, which is also good. TheAlthough not absolutely perfect, Revenge of the Sith is definitely an improvement over the previous two films. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where it’s two predecessors, Menace and Clones, often felt stuffed with too much window dressing and lack of focus, ‘Sith’ surprisingly comes into its own with thrilling action, a mostly satisfying story of the origin of one of cinemas greatest villains, and a killer soundtrack from the masterful John Williams. ‘Sith’ still features some of the things, like clunky and stiff dialogue, and some odd window dressing and padding out of the plot. Anakin’s decent into darkness is fun as it is tragic to watch, even if a bit rushed and the film is a bit overstuffed with other side plots (the hunt for Grievous) which honestly could have been spread out or explored in previous entries, but the final hour of Sith is deliciously dark, meaningful and perhaps the most pivotal in the entire saga. Seeing the destruction of most of the Jedi, Anakin’s betrayal and turn as Darth Vader and the epic duel between Obi-wan and Anakin on the lava world of Mustafar (Lucas’ metaphorical version of hell) and between Yoda and Emperor Palpatine, is nothing less of payoff from all the previous film’s set up. Overall, it’s not perfect but it managed to end the prequels on a high note and provided a satisfying bridge to the originals Expand

Besides the memes this is actually a pretty fantastic movie. It has some flaws like the poor dialogue, but it has an engaging narrative and is an overall fun movie. It also has a fantastic story. I would recommend all Star Wars fans watch this.

The best of the prequel trilogy. The representation of the turning to the dark side from the eyes of a young adult. The second half of the movie is heartbreaking and perfectly connects to Episode IV.

I will always love every aspect of this movie no matter what. This cast is awesome. The fights are awesome. The music is awesome. Palpatine getting flipped off his chair by Yoda is awesome.

Hell Yeah.

This is a good movie, a very good movie. The acting is the best out of all the prequels and so is the CGI. The acting is the best out of all the prequels and so is the CGI. This film is a rollercoaster of emotions, there are funny parts yet at the same time there are truly sad sections of the movie. The film explores the themes of brotherhood and betrayal exceptionality. That being said some of the dialogue can feel unnatural, not necessarily because of the acting but because the script it self. This is a must see for any Star Wars fan and even if you're not a diehard fan of the franchise you will still have a good time watching this movie. Expand

It starts out with the long-awaited death of the Sith Lord's dark apprentice Count Dooku and the end of the fiendish droid leader General Grievous. It then takes an unexpected turn as the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine slowly comes to reveal his true identity to the Jedi: the Sith Lord Darth Sidious! Things then start to heat up as Sidious pushes Anakin Skywalker to turn to the dark side. Anakin eventually gives in and becomes the one and only Darth Vader. The clone army is then turned into the storm troopers and, along with Vader, turn against the Jedi and kill them off, leaving only Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Senator Organa (who have hidden from the storm troopers) alive. Sidious then sends Darth Vader to the volcanic Mustafar system, where he finds Obi-Wan, whom he challenges. His wife, the beautiful Padme Amidala, tries to intervene, but Anakin, twisted by the dark side, is convinced that she is only trying to help Obi-Wan kill him and force chokes her nearly to death. And so, the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan begins. Meanwhile, Yoda confronts the evil Lord Sidious. Yoda starts out strong, but the Sith Lord won't be beaten that easily. Soon, Sidious unleashes his true power. Yoda is overwhelmed by his power; yet, he rushes to safety, hides and escapes. Back on Mustafar, the battle between the two Jedi knights and former friends rages on. Anakin pulls of some good moves, but ends up being burnt in the lava while Obi-Wan walks away, convinced that all hope for Anakin is lost. Meanwhile, Sidious is able to reorganize the Republic into a Galactic Empire with himself as the Emporer. He then travels to Mustafar and finds the disoriented Anakin on the ground. We now learn that this is how he got the breathing mask and suit he wears in the old movies. We, then, find Padme giving birth to her (and Anakin's) twin babies: Luke and Leia Skywalker. Because of the prior damage Anakin did to her, Padme barely survived to give birth, but afterwards died. Vader and the Emporer are then seen overseeing the construction of the Death Star. To ensure that the Emporer does not sense their presence, the three remaining Jedi seperate Luke and Leia from each other and go into hiding themselves, knowing that their attempt to use Anakin (the chosen one) to finish off the Sith had failed.
