I liked the movie, but given now I don't even much that happened in it, then it means it wasn't that great overall, even though i do think it is decent

While nothing in Episode 1 has any real impact on the trilogy we got this time a meaningful story with huge game changers for the Star Wars galaxy. I like how the story unfolds and the plots start to work. I would say the lines are draw and the long looming conflicts begins to escalate. Like in any good middle movie it answers questions while you get new ones. Then there are the characters. I like the chemistry and interactions between Obi Wan (Ewan Mc Gregor), Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Padme (Natalie Portman). C3PO and R2D2 are as good as always (There is the fan theory that these two are the main characters in Star Wars;-). The best performance has Ian Mc Diarmid as Palpatine. He is so enjoyable to watch. I purpose the idea of a TV series with him as main characters. A House of Cards like show with many plots, gains and shady businesses. But back to the movie. Christopher Lee is as good as always. He is also a legendary actor and delivers his role as gentleman villain (I think he has some pure motives). Yoda and Samuel Jackson are the fitting leaders of the Jedi Order. Overall I would say the Jedi while not truly evil have their part in the injustice and decline of the galaxy. They are paralysed by their dogmas and are unable to evolve. I would even say if the bad guys waited long enough the Jedi would destroy themselves or become irrelevant (There are a lot of good theories out there). The acting is good for me for the most part with the downside of the dialogues. They are often wooden and unfitting. This is a problem for the whole prequel trilogy. The battles are again top notch. This is one of a few parts where the prequels are better (Rewatch the old trilogy again if you don't believe me). The final battle is a highlight and I have yet to find someone who did complain about it. Of cause I must praise John Williams for the score. He is a legend. Only Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone can compete with him. Overall this felt like a return to Star Wars and was enjoyable. It made me want more and kept the interest for the final movie. Expand

It's a good movie and shows Anakin actually go through character progression unlike Rey.. Rey is perfect from the Start in the Disney Star Wars movies.. Anakin is strong with the force but he is emotional and still learning. He loses to Count Dooku who is much older and wiser when it comes to the force. And has much more poise and better skills with a lightsaber. Anakin doesn't know everything like Rey.. And at this point had been training for years. In episode three Anakin is a little older and wiser and his skills with a lightsaber are better and he kills Dooku. Again this is character progression something that the prequels have.. And it's something Disney Star Wars don't have... This movie is also important because it shows Anakin killing the sand people after they killed his mother. This is the first real time you see the person he eventually becomes, Darth Vader. It also shows his relationship with Padme grow with them getting married. So this movie sets up Revenge of the Sith really well. If this movie didn't exist Revenge of the Sith would end up with too much stuff being crammed into it like "The Rise of Skywalker". If you don't like this movie you are not a real Star Wars fan. If you like Disney Star Wars you are not a real Star Wars fan. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If I was head of LucasFilm, I'd officially call this film the '3rd best Star Wars movie ever'. Dooku makes a superb thought provoking anti-hero who shows he's more than capable of holding his own against youngsters which I love so much as it shows that the elderly can identify themselves to be strong and powerful if they want. The beauty of Coruscant at night was mesmerising, every time I watch the bar scene I always get drunk and happy, it's such a great scene which encourages people to have so much fun so it's a great thing. The beauty of the Outlander Club in the film makes me so sexually aroused. There's loads of intelligent aliens in this film which promotes that diversity is a true strength, with many sexy aliens there as well. It could've been better though if Anakin found his Mother and brutally sexually abused her fat butt, his Mother should've liked the sex eventually before killing her because she selfishly gave him up to strangers and didn't bother visiting him for 10 years. The sex scene between Anakin and his Mother would've also helped promote that it's okay to have sex with your Mum as everyone's the same anyway, if everyone wasn't the same diversity wouldn't be a strength. And killing her like that would show that Anakin is normal and doesn't care about people who are closely genetically related to him more than people who aren't closely genetically related to him. Due to George Lucas, Anakin's a racist who treated his evil Mother far more nicely than what her fat butt deserved. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is wonderful. I may just be a nerdy fanboy who loves star wars, but I know my stuff. As a stand-alone film it would've been a disaster, so I can understand why people hated it right when it came out. But now with the third installment in the prequel trilogy being released, we really get to see Anakin grow, and I love seeing how loyal Obi-Wan stays to the Jedi order. Its nice to see how Obi-Wan questioned his master at the time Qui Gonn on his decisions, and then when Obi-Wan is Anakin's Master Andkin questions Obi-Wan. It's nice to see how they can relate because once they were both very similar in their wiseness. Now moving on to actual story plots in this film, I think that Count Dooku is a very compelling character and had some great power. The problem is the way they portrayed him in this film that I don't love because he just comes off as boring. I believe the Star Wars animated series The Clones Wars was a much better portrayal of Count Dooku. Even still no matter how much you hate this film you must admit that the epic Clone, Jedi, Droid battle is incredible. It may be filled with CGI but It still feels like you're right there. And let us not forget this film's predecessor The Phantom Menace! This film was... well a train wreck. They focused more on politics and less on what stars wars is all about, which is an insanely entertaining story and amazing special effects. I will say that the characters were written well. There are many reasons to enjoy this entertaining film and that's why I'm glad its a part of the fantastic series that is Star Wars. Expand

Attack of the Clones is better than The Phantom Menace mostly because of the absence of Jar Jar Binks. Despite that, this movieAttack of the Clones is better than The Phantom Menace mostly because of the absence of Jar Jar Binks. Even with exposure therapy, Jar Jar is, without a doubt, the worst character in the entire Star Wars franchise. Despite that, this movie falls behind its predecessor in the story and action. Few, if any, people are interested in the love story between Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. Thid movie scores well in the plot in my opinion, along with the thrill of Yoda engaging Dooku in a lightsaber duel, but that's where the positives stop. The rest of the film is average. Its successor, Revenge of the Sith, is a substantial improvement on AOTC. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really do not see all the hate for this movie. There are too many trolls out there that are so upset because it doesn’t compare to the originals. Do not let that deter your from watching it. Of course the movies do not compare to the originals they are prequels!

The good:
1. The action scenes on Geonosis
2. The fight between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett both on Kamino and in space
3. The chase for stopping Zam from escaping
4. The subtleties of Chancellor receiving emergency powers is quite similar to how Hitler obtained dictatorial powers
5. The first intense meeting between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett
6. Count Dooku Vs Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda

7. The scene Anakin slaughters the Tusken Raiders signals his vulnerability to the dark side

The bad:
1. The romance drags on at times 2. The lines between Anakin and Padmé are cheesy but a lot of lines from the movies are cheesy
3. The reliance on CGI is quite noticeable

Again the movie isn’t perfect but none of them are as they all have flaws.

It's adventures particularly with Obi-Wan enkindle a strong sense of intrigue and even the emotion with Anakin and Padme carries throughout, but perhaps dwells too much on the romance and not on the conflict of his inner desires. But what Episode II flourishes in is tone and pace. It feels as if George cleaned a lot up after the heavily discombolulated Phantom Menace, and even if the film rides on fair amounts of cheesiness, it never seems to dust on my shelf like the way you'd expect. Although The Phantom Menace was bad, it was the start of a new trilogy and as such was primarily setting up characters and the universe. OK, it introduced two of the most hated aspects of the franchise (Jar Jar Binks, and the idea of 'Midichlorians'), but there was enough action and some pretty good set pieces. Throw in John Williams best piece of music since Raiders of the Lost Ark (Duel of the Fates), and there was a real buzz that the second part of the trilogy could exceed expectations, if.... IF... George Lucas took on board what the viewers liked and (more importantly) disliked about TPM.

But, George Lucas didn't do that.

Instead he came up with one of the most hated films of all time.
Virtually everything about the movie is awful. From the lacklustre, by the numbers, boring direction, to the slow paced, tiresome, almost nonsensical plot. The editing is atrocious, the score is bland, the overuse of CGI/Green screen, the truly inept comedic moments..... And that's not even mentioning the worst part of all.... The casting of Hayden Christensen in the pivotal/vital role of the now teenage Anakin Skywalker.

The plot revolves around the fact the Jedi can no longer use the Force to see images of the future. The Dark Side has compromised their abilities, and as such the Jedi are making decisions blindly.

As a consequence, despite it making no sense, they charge Anakin with the protection of Senator (formerly Queen) Amidala, and they go for a romantic vacation to Naboo. Meanwhile Obi-Wan is tasked with uncovering a conspiracy surrounding a planet removed from the Jedi archive, due to it being the home of the assassin who is trying to kill the Senator.

At the same time the evil Darth Sideous/Chancellor Palpatine is maneouvering the political side of things, stirring up trouble in the senate, whilst promoting the increasingly aggressive acts of violence by a separatist group (under the control of former Jedi Count Dooku, but now Dark Jedi (and Sideous' new apprentice) Darth Tyranus).

The three parallel storylines unfold, with Anakin and Padme Amidala falling in love, Obi-Wan discovering a secret clone army, and Count Dooku/Palpatine causing political ructions.
The film builds up to a climax on an industrial planet, where all Hell breaks loose and we get the obligatory big fight scenes and subdued ending.

When you write down the basic plot synopsis, it doesn't sound so bad. And I suspect, on paper, George Lucas thought so too.
But, the actual finished product is simply horrific.
As mentioned, the entire plot makes no sense, there are innumerate plotholes, as well as moments where you just say 'well, why didn't he/she/they just do this instead?' as you stare blankly at the screen in disbelief at the stupidity of virtually every character in the film.

Anyway, back to Hayden Christensen. He's shown he can act, in other subsequent films. but in AotC he's more wooden than the Black Forest, and appears to have no idea what he's doing.
But then again, it doesn't help that he (and everyone else) is working from one of the most terrible scripts ever written. It's almost as if George Lucas was unable (as both director/writer) to imagine his actors expressing emotion through their acting/vocal range/physical expressions etc. So, he instead chose to actually have the characters simply state their emotional point of view. In most cases it's cringeworthy, in some (Hayden Christensen, I'm talking about you!!) it's unintentionally hilarious.

I'm being extremely critical, but that's because there are people out there (read some of the other 'reviews') who think that the original Trilogy is some kind of masterwork.... These people need to take a step back and either admit they were wrong, or offer up some real arguments/points about why they would give this movie anything other than a well-deserved low score!!

Are there any good points?? Well, there's far less Jar Jar, and Midichlorians (whilst mentioned) are played down immensely. It's also good to see a large group of Jedi in action, at the peak of their powers... Even if they are just waving waving sticks in a choreographed manner in front of a green screen.... It still has some resonance, and is as close as Star Wars ever got to really putting the Jedi (as this mythical group of warriors) on-screen.
But apart from those things....It's pretty much the crap-fest I've explained it to be. Ultimately, I suspect people on this site will have seen the movie, and if someone hasn't, they'll more than likely pull up some official review from YouTube, or look up something on Google...
So, it's just been about me expressing my opinions, in the hope someone has a look.

There's just enough there for me to not fall asleep...until all the scenes with Anakin and Padme start. I actually think that's why I give this movie as high a rating as I did Episode I--I always skipped those scenes whenever I rewatched this movie growing up, so I don't even really remember the content of those scenes. Pretty sad, since the original intention of these prequels was to show Darth Vader's fall from grace in becoming among the most evil--yet potentially most complex--characters in the Star Wars universe. Yeah, don't really have anything else to say. Expand

The film is filled with absolutely horrible acting (most notably the atrocity of a performance from Hayden Christiansen), a disastrously over-complicated story, truly embarrassing dialogue, soulless characters, nauseating attempts at romance, more severely dated and fake CGI, mindless plot threads and scenes that go nowhere, and some of the most ridiculous and stupid-looking action sequences in the series. Attack of the Clones is possibly the worst Star Wars movie out there (although I secretly love it). Like Episode 1 and 3, it suffers from poor dialogue, poor acting performance, some unnecessary over-naive scenes, and a humiliation to the continuity of Episode 4, 5, 6. However, it doesn't have the narrative strength of Episode 3, and compared to Episode 1, much of the scenes are wasted on the awkward romantic scenes. Another problem is one of the main characters, Anakin. As a protagonist, it is very hard to like this character. He's whiny, complains a lot, has a weird way of approaching a woman that he has been obsessed with since childhood, and his arrogance, though makes a great instrument for his journey to the dark side, is very annoying. My favorite part of this movie is the memes.

I own it on DVD and Blu-ray but the disc is as factory fresh as I got it 7 years ago. It's a pretty big pile of crap to dig through.

At the center of it all lies Anakin; He is quite simply unbearable. He spends the whole movie contradicting Obi-wan, arguing, yelling, fuming, complaining and expertly selling to us that his character is a spoiled teenage brat. It's PAAAAINFUL to watch. I understand George, I get it..You want to show us young Vader was a brash, headstrong and unconventional entry into the Jedi Order but please, stop. His whole arc didn't work. This trainwreck gets worse when Padmé is thrown into the mix; The poor girl wears an almost constant look of concern on her face in reaction to Anakin's juvenile and downright disturbing attempts at romance before he breaks off into an angsty tangent about sand people and his difficult life, only to try again and 'woo' her by borrowing as much cheese from space Romeo & Juliet. Any time a shot established Anakin and Padmé in the same room together I couldn't help but roll my eyes and hold my breath until the godforsaken scene would end. Somehow they get MARRIED in the ending which is mind-blowing to me. They have NO chemistry, but I guess answering the call of the plot is good enough reason for them to get hitched and start makin' little Skywalkers. I'm still convinced Anakin used the force to persuade her or something. There is, however, one part with Anakin I did like, his brush with the dark side on Tatooine. After his mother dies in his arms, his eyes and following actions reveal just a hint of the man he will become; It's a very strong character moment. (Yes, it is no coincidence this scene is mostly devoid of any dialogue.)

When AOTC isn't shoehorning smelly teen love in our face it deals with politics and intrigue. This will either bore you or enhance your viewing pleasure. Personally, watching Padmé blab about government and debate is an instant mood-killer but at least the council's interactions gave us insight on how Jedi business worked before the Empire. The plot itself is confusing at times..they mention Sifo Dyas like you're supposed to know the bastard and Anakin's massive growth spurt is still hard to believe. And...who the hell is Dooku? Why did he betray the order? Why are they talking about these things like I should have known about it already? These are just a few red flags that kept popping up when I watched this for the first time. It really drags on too long in a few parts.

But I believe the best parts of this film revolve around Obi-wan; The Coruscant chase and subsequent bar scene, all of Kamino, the Jango Fett encounter, fight and chase (Temura was an incredible inclusion), the face to face meeting with Dooku and Geonosis; Observing the future master in action, be it in combat or diplomacy felt very real and interesting. In hindsight the movie really should've just focused on him. Ewan McGregor once again sells a very convincing Obi-wan. Kudos. There's still something I can enjoy watching in this mess. Seeing Yoda fight for the first time in his prime is pretty neat too. Truthfully, it was ridiculous watching him bounce around yelling his old man war cry, but the little green guy always had this awesome, mystical yet silly charm to his presence. His place in the setting is very form-fitting, his duties as a master ever more apparent than they were in ESB. Instead of just hearing about it in his exposition, we actually see him teaching the young ones and imparting wisdom to Obi-wan and other jedi. You notice that despite how awful this movie was, it still managed to treat the older characters we already knew with respect and dignity, thus believably lending them an existence outside their original source material? Well, minus Anakin of course...ugh. It pains me to admit this film might not have been all bad had Lucas just dropped the terrible Padmé subplot and reworked most of Hayden's scenes and lines. John Williams composed pieces that gave such life and instant recognition to the Star Wars locale which shines especially when it isn't bogged down by dated CGI, but it's just impossible to ignore the issues that persist in its screenplay.

All in all Attack of the Clones is a boon to the universe more than it was to itself. All the stories, games, books and shows covering the events and characters of the Clone Wars were far more entertaining. (Seriously, after playing Bounty Hunter I like Jango Fett more than his son, and Republic Commando is simply perfection, just to name a few titles.) Despite the movie's blunder the world of Star Wars still felt larger than ever, and I was absolutely thrilled to be a part of it. I only wish I could say the same now..

Attack of theOne of my favorite films as there is nothing like it packed full of wonder, intrigue, action, metaphors and multiple literary homages and references. I’m always finding something I had missed before on multiple viewings. Attack of the Clones serves as the backbone of the 6 Lucas films revealing Anakins first taste of the dark side, the near sightedness of the Jedi Order and the origin of the Clone Wars as mentioned in A New Hope. I find the Anakin and Padme interactions intriguing as he seeks after her in a 1920s type courtly approach finding comfort and intoxication in her presence. Padme who is remarkably stunning in this film seems to welcome the attention but turns away when she sees first hand how a tender moment alone can be a source of pain for Anakin as he is terrified of loss. He is almost prophesying his life as Darth Vader when he tells Padme, “ The thought of not being with you, I can’t breath.” The final climatic battle is a spectacular sequence that seems to favor our protagonist but Yoda expressed great dismay for the last line of the film as he states, “The shroud of the dark side has fallen, begun the Clone War has.” Expand

So, when the time came to produce the second installment in the prequel trilogy, George Lucas listened to the audience...when it came to one thing: Jar-jar Binks has a minor role with only about three minutes of screen time in Attack of the Clones. That's it. Everything else about Episode II is about as bad as, if not worse than, it is in Episode I.

To be fair, Attack also has the same positives as Phantom: namely, the backbone of a compelling story and certain scenes of groundbreaking visual effects. The plot develops quite well in Episode II as the Jedi inadvertently set forth the chain of events that will eventually lead to their own demise. On paper, it is a tragic, sobering reflection on the transparent, elusive nature of government corruption and the dangers of blind trust. But in practice, it's a complete disaster. With the exception of portions of Ewen McGregor and Christopher Lee's performances, every actor in this film performs with the charisma of participants in a middle school play. And it doesn't help that the dialogue that they're given is often unrealistic and forced, not to mention laughably cringe-worthy. Political drama only works if dialogue flows as it would in real life and actors effectively portray human fear and weakness. There is none of that here, and the potential-filled narrative falls to pieces.

The visual effects in Attack of the Clones are quite an improvement over those in The Phantom Menace, but there's unfortunately far too heavy of a reliance upon them here, even heavier than there was in Phantom. Nearly the entirety of the last act of the movie is constructed with CGI, and it feels like a cartoon because it's used even when it's not even remotely necessary. There is not a single physically constructed droid, alien creature, or even clone trooper. They couldn't even find actors to play the clone troopers? Many of the sets aren't even real. Entire rooms are built with computers, and when it's clear that the characters aren't living in a real world, it's difficult to find a reason to care about that world.

Star Wars: Episode II is an unfortunate disaster. There are some saving qualities it possesses, like the humorous banter between R2-D2 and C3PO and the all-too-short but brilliantly conceived scene where Anakin briefly turns to darkness following a moment of personal tragedy. But what little greatness is does boast is overshadowed by poorly constructed, unconvincing sets, juvenile acting and dialogue, and boring storytelling methods that fail to bring this galaxy to life.

And it's incredibly disappointing to say that because the Clone Wars is a time period in Star Wars that I love. The animated TV show was great (and so are many of the comics depicting this time period) but this movie doesn't do it much justice at all. The characters are pretty atrocious in this movie. Anakin finally reached his full potential on the annoying scale, Count Dooku doesn't get nearly as much screen time as he deserved, and Padme is damn near as bad as Anakin at times. The best part of this movie (and the reason it's not rated even lower) is Obi-Wan's plot line, at least it's serviceable. That brings me to the plot, and–uh–it's not good, folks. I get it. It's a love story about Anakin and Padme, but it's a very poorly executed love story. Cheesy dialogue coupled with boring scenes...blech. And even when we get away from the love story, the actual "clone war" is not nearly as entertaining as it could be and the final duel between Count Dooku and Obi-Wan/Anakin/Yoda is very disappointing. I do have to give Attack of the Clones some props for having some pretty impressive CGI (for the time), although I wish not all of the clones were CG. At the end of the day, Attack of the Clones is the most fast-forward worthy film of the franchise. Do you need to watch it at least once all the way through? Yes, but after that feel free to just watch the few good parts there are. Expand

Directed by George Lucas, it was written by him, in collaboration with Jonathan Hales, and count's with the participation of Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Ian McDiarmid, among other actors.

George Lucas has learned an important lesson from the previous film: special effects and action can make a bearable movie, but cannot make a quality movie. And it's not hard to see that the Director made an effort to ensure a more careful script this time. The script looks cleaner of expendable elements and worthless characters, and the characters exhibit much more psychological depth, particularly Anakin and Amidala. However, Lucas was unable to print passion to the loving bond that the couple starred. If there is love there, the public never see it or feel it. It seems friendship or affection, but never love so, they managed to become one of the most frigid romantic couples that cinema ever portrayed. Jar Jar continues to be a funny character but there are certain scenes when he's just stupid. The performance of the actors wasn't brilliant or inspired, with the exception of Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee, who deserve congratulations, and Natalie Portman, who was not bad but could have done better. The soundtrack also does not bring anything new and does it's role with confidence. The special visual and sound effects were at the highest level, providing breathtaking action scenes and moments of great dramatic tension. The costumes, characterization and scenery were always up to the challenge, not disillusioned the most enthusiastic fans.

For the longest time, Attack of the Clones was considered my personal low point in the series, but after re-watching it during a palette cleansing session following the latest entry, I found that it held up a lot better than I thought.

The biggest problem with this entry were some of the casting choices, poor acting, and excessive reliance on CGI for the more nonsensical action sequences like the robot foundry. A lot of people complain that there were too many CGI sequences in general, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of the sequences people think are CGI were actually done with real sets and real props. The blending at that point had just gotten to the point that the two were indistinguishable.

Attack of the Clones fixed some of the problems from the previous entry, but added some new ones of its own. Regardless, I appreciate that George Lucas had an overarching story line for the trilogy and stuck to it. The story is consistent, and coherent, and even challenges your understanding of character motivations, such as with Dooku.

The visuals are still on par with what modern audiences expect. Locations are once again fantastic, and we are introduced to more new settings. It progresses the trilogy, but doesn't really blow your mind with any revelations.

Well worth watching, particularly if you have a soft spot for angsty CW quality romance.

SKIP TO THE END FOR REVIEW SUMMARY.

Attack of the Clones, like its predecessor, is yet another highly controversial and underrated installment in the Star Wars saga.

The movie is, for the most part, split between two stories. The first follows Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala which is largely a romance story. The second is a detective-esque story in which Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers two separate armies that are being built to begin the Clone Wars. Ewan McGregor's superb acting definitely makes Obi-Wan's side of the film more entertaining and mysterious, but Anakin and Padmé's story is by no means awful.

I'd be one of the first to say that the Anakin and Padmé love story has some cringe-worthy dialogue but it makes sense within the context of the universe and the characters. Anakin, a Jedi, has been taught to not love anyone and to have no emotional attachments. Obviously, he would be a little awkward when it comes to these things. Their story takes a more interesting turn when Anakin returns to his home planet in search of his mother.

The entire third act of the film is simply phenomenal. A fight with monsters in an arena, followed by the first battle of the Clone Wars, and then a lightsaber battle between Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) and Yoda really help elevate the last 45 minutes or so of the movie to among the best in Star Wars history. The first act also had some solid action and intrigue with an assassination plot against Padmé. The second act is definitely the weakest, mainly because it drags on a little.

The discovery and intrigue elements of Attack of the Clones definitely make it a great addition to the Star Wars saga. It's a little too long for my taste but other than that, I have no huge complaints.

Review was redone ahead of The Last Jedi.

Attack of the Clones is an abomination. An incoherent movie filled with subpar performances and only a few solid action sequences. Attack of the Clones is completely unredeemable. Especially when comparing to it's much better sequel.

El problema de esta película es que es poquisimamente entrañable. Ya me la olvide casi toda de lo igual que da en el mundo Star Wars. No aporta ni quita nada.

In some ways it's an improvement over Phantom Menace, but in others, it manages to be worse. The central romance is one of the least believable I've ever seen in a film of this size. Chemistry between the actors is non-existent. It's strange to see just how much George Lucas lost touch with Star Wars fans in the years between the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. Expand

I liked it, unlike most people. The first half was a 6, the second half was a 8, so I made the final score a 7. The acting needed improvement, but wasn't terrible. The story was great and put everything together from 4-6. It is worth a watch.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones is even more intense and fast than the other Star Wars classics, and there's a notable improvement with storytelling and conclusion. Anyway, it needs more to be ranked as one of the best Star Wars' picture yet.

I'm still obsessed with it and it is my primary inspiration as a screenwriter, but this film is near garbage. Its few strengths (Ewan McGregor, John Williams, and Christopher Lee) are completely overshadowed by its glaring flaws (Anakin and Padme on Naboo for almost an hour of the film). The final duel is disappointing and the film could probably be omitted from the saga with little loss to the story. It's utterly pointless. 5.75/10 -JR Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From my point of view, "Attack of the clones" is the weakest installment of the "Skywalker Saga" and I find it very hard to find something positive in this movie.
In fact, there are only three things I can enjoy: Obi-wan, the pursuit through the asteroid field and Palpatine overlooking his new clone army. Unfortunately, that's about it! The rest is still watchable, but without a doubt far away from being a good movie. Anakin's storyline and the lightsaber duel in the end really insult me as a Star wars fan...

It's not perfect but after watching a documentary on star wars I have come to appreciate the prequels in a way I don't think i ever had. AS I have said before this movie is not perfect. Cringe worthy dialogue is the biggest problem with this movie. A little too much is focused on anikan and padmeas relationship. It distracts from a well put together story with historical and religious undertones brilliantly weaved into the story. The action is alot of fun and the light saber fight's are well choreographed. So in short a brilliant well told story and great acting from the supporting cast is overshadowed by stilted dialogue and a cringworthy romance but this movie luckily is not unwatchable unlike the phantom menace Expand

This movie made the prequels a little bit better but it hasnt come out the hole that the phantom menace dug. It did have some good scenes like the duel between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Count Dooku. I'm going to give it a 7 because i'm nice

The effects are the worst out of the trilogy
Half the movie is based on a romance I dont care much about It has the worst lightsaber fight in the franchise

I have been told that this is a guilty pleasure of mine , but I dont agree.
I dont think its terrible. I dont think its bad. I think its good. oh its not as good as IV , V and VI but its not a bad story , nor a bad movie.

The plot has a focus on a romance and a conspiracy that goes down a deep (but thats mostly talked about in TCW08)

The conspiracy : I love it ! The romance : I dont like it very much , its not that I think its badly written its that it feels like watching two real life teens dating for the first time. its very cringy. lets just say there is a reason why movies never show romance how it is in real life.

However the only things that make me rate this a 7 instead of a 8 or 9 is :
-The lightsaber fight , I cant stand yoda fighting , I cant stand the fight in the dark.
-C3pO ''funny'' bit , his head gets removed and is still functional (so far , silly but okay) and then gets fited to a B-1 battle droid and thus the two programmings seem to conflict with one and another. its a very silly moment that mirrors the bit in ESB with C3pO being in bits but in that movie it was played for drama and laughs.
-the effects and art are not my cup of tea in this episode (outside of kamino that I do love) everything looks fake , but thats not the end of world to me. But I have to say , something seems to be messed up with the lighting in this episode.

Star wars attack of the clones has the same problems as the first one, but with less jar jar binks. However, the dialogue
is extremely terrible and is even worse than the phantom menace, and even the lightsaber fight was terrible.

And not so much because of its effects and technology but the fantastic flow of the story and the world Class acting by EVERYONE...even Hayden Christiansen delivered some amazing moments and had obviously great potential as an actor. His slow transition into the Dark Side is perfectly presented. Ian Mac Diarmid (Palpatine), Evan McGregor and Cristopher Lee deliver fantastic emotions and AAA+ acting. I consider this along with Episode 3 the most mature Star Wars film. I dont understand why this movie has a 6.0 user score. It just doesnt make sense. Expand

The action is cool and it makes it at least watchable, the acting is hit and miss as well when they are trying to act their way around Lucas's ultra crappy dialogue. To this day, Jango Fett is the only character with any appeal to me but unfortunately he was almost entirely wasted in this god-forsaken CGI porn fest. The only reason Jango is there is to probably sell toys and to give Boba a backstory, which is cool but at least give Jango a solid foundation to stand on himself. I don't understand how people say the Phantom Menace was worse than this one because I really don't see it and still don't to this day. The plot is full of holes and inconsistencies, stuff comes out of nowhere and you feel like someone should took Lucas aside and told him "No, this sucks. Stop it." Theres not alot of structure to anything in this movie but the forced and sometimes creepy and awkward dialogue ultimately was what killed this movie, again this movie would have been better if someone took Lucas aside and said, "Stop it, this sucks. This is bad." The only reason I give this movie a 4 instead of a 0 is because its Star Wars and its something I have loved dearly since I was a child. Again, there are thing to like here(Jango Fett) but ultimately its buried by a dumpster full of CGI upped crap. Expand

And also like the prequels, it´s badly execute: bad writing, bad direction, wooden acting, a romance subplot that is lousy and painful, bad action scenes with bad cgi, the most poorly executed lightsaber fight in the whole saga (yes, even worse than the one in episode IV), Yoda jumping around with a little green lightsaber, ridiculous clone subplot to justify a line of dialogue of episode IV, an attempt to ruin Bobba Fett´s character by casting a bad child actor to play his younger self, and the list goes on. The soundtrack is good, though, mainly Across the Stars, the love theme of Anakin and Padme, too bad it´s the theme of a very poorly written romance. Also, both Ewan McGregor and Christopher Lee show pretty solid acting , considering that is Lucas giving them directions and writing their lines. Expand
