Sony animations made up for the emoji movie with this film. While I wasn’t particularly impressed with this film for its original and complex storyline, the animation is simply amazing.

The stylised animation is what holds the film up where it’d otherwise be lacking. Even if I didn’t like the overarching plot of the movie, the animation alone would’ve kept me invested for the entire runtime. It has such a comic book vibe to it that other comic book movies lack and as a result end up looking stately shot. Into the spiderverse uses a lot of songs, some of which were good and fit in, but other times so would just intrude when we’re supposed to feel emotion. The film had likeable leads for the most part. Nobody was unbearable, but none of the characters were particularly interesting or complex. Our main trio: Miles, Peter And Gwen all had characters arcs though, so that’s passable. My main complaint would be that I found Miles kind of cringey at the start of the movie, and it wasn’t an intentional teenage cringe that I felt while watching something like “Eighth grade.” The storyline these characters traversed through wasn’t all that original, but I don’t think it needed to be. The storywork could’ve been better, but could’ve been so much worse. As for the humour: Half the jokes were quite clever and got a chuckle out of me, the other half were fairly half-assed and just left me with my face in my palm.

Overall, into the spiderverse was a fun movie. I liked all of the leads and some of the jokes were funny, but I wasn’t emotionally invested in the film when it wanted me to be. If you like the animation based off the trailers, you will like this film, potentially love it. I can’t say I’m going to be rewatching this anytime soon, but it was a fun thing to watch, especially on my birthday.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've always love spiderman from comics, animated series, video games, and movies and it's been in my childhood for basically my whole life. Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse is by far the best animated film last year and I would recommend everyone to watch this movie.

I have a lot of positive things to say but let me say one thing, I feel like the other spidermen that I think they arrived mid-way to the film such as Spider-ham, Spiderman Noir and Peni Parker, I felt like they didn't have much character development. However, I don't really get bothered with that as they were performed excellently by the voice actor and actress so I don't really care. Okay now for the positive: First off, the animation looks amazing, it gives you the sense of the old-style of comic books which is very nostalgic and actually looks beautiful to your eyes. I thought Miles Morals I was a great main character and I thought Shameik did a great job and so as the other voice actors and hearing Nicolas cage, OMG he was good. Kingpin was a really good villain, he had a good reason as to the machine he is building and he's just all around a villain you don't want to mess with. Even the other villains like Prowler (which had a good twist that me actually surprised). Miles Moral's relationship with Gwen and his parents felt natural and not cliche and it just felt real almost. Again there are twists that actually made me surprised and there were unexpected moments which made me shocked and I have to give credits to the directors who decided to do that. The music in this movie is fantastic, sunflower was pretty good but What's up danger really was the highlight. It sounded like a villain's theme song. However, it's going towards Miles after his uncle revealed he was Prowler and he gets shot. It's like he took the roles of his uncle and his father and make it better. Aunt May sits there with a cup of tea and says "took you long enough" and first of all, badass. The song fits perfectly with Miles as he does the leap of faith which clearly he was nervous because the glass breaks meaning he was stuck to the glass which I thought was pretty awesome. This is one of my favorite animated featured and probably one of my favorite spidermen movies and I highly recommend it

What I like about Spider-Man as a hero is that he takes risk and always gets back up no matter how many times he gets put down. What this movie shows about Miles Morales is that he'll make mistakes and soon learn from them in the end.

It gives so much love to fans both young and old, even a comic reader myself, i was still floored by the twists that came in this film.
It handles so smoothly to make a movie that everyone can enjoy, so that even people who aren't spider man fans can find something they can enjoy about this movie. However i cannot say its perfect, there are moments the movie can get a little hard to watch with the way the animation looks, a little seizure inducing at the climax, and unfitting music that comes in at unreasonable times, but in spite of what the movie gets right, these are minor complaints.
Spider-Verse is not at all what i expected, but i loved it anyway, it shows such an inspiring story, with sharp humor that comes in at the right time, that are coupled with well written characters that you can't wait to see what happens next.
In conclusion, spider-verse is not only the best Spider Man movie i have ever seen, it is also the best animated movie i have ever seen. A total must watch.

Spiderman fans (and super-hero fans, in general) might not like the story because it's not your typical comic-book story. But, I am not a fan of super-hero movies and the story is ok with me, except that the fight at the end is too long (like in every other super-hero movie).

Imprescindible.

No matter how goodBefore I say anything about the movie, I just wanted to talk about the reason why I gave this movie a 9/10 instead of a 10/10(Even though I am extremely tempted to do so). A 10/10 would mean the movie is "Perfect". No matter how good something is, nothing, absolutely nothing in this world can be "Perfect". There is and there will always be room for improvement. I wanted to keep some wiggle room in case a sequel is announced. Now, with all that being said, let's get down to business.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a love letter to comic book fans, Miles Morales fans, and superhero moviegoers. A true masterpiece. The art style, characters, music, and story just scream quality and blends together EXTREMELY WELL.

- The art style is AWESOME. The movie is not completely animated, it is a mix of CGI and animation. Every frame and every scene has been meticulously crafted to show style, quality, and the depth of the climate. Not only that, but it also has tons of comic book imagery, for example, art panels and thought bubbles. This would make any comic book lover drool.

- The characters are amazing. With such a talented cast to voice the characters with such perfection, no wonder the characters in this movie were so lovable and funny. Not once did I feel like any of the Spider-Man characters were there just for the sake of fan service. Every character had a role to play in this movie.

- The music in this movie is just so freaking good!!!!!!!!

- As for the story, I will not give any spoilers, but damn was the story absolutely amazing. What I will say is, STICK AROUND TILL THE VERY END. The movie shows a VERY well known Spider-Man "Meme"/Fan-Service and a very well deserved hint for a sequel.

This movie is by far the greatest superhero movie in my opinion. TRUST ME, you will NOT REGRET watching this movie, so go and watch it... NOW!!!!!!

P.S. The fact that this movie came out of Sony, the same company behind The Emoji Movie, is mind-boggling to me.

I swore off animated movies. Having gone into a sugar coma while viewing the highly-regarded “Paddington 2” (2017), I vowed never again. In this case, I’m glad I broke the rules.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” breaks plenty of rules on its own. Along the way, it offers a variety of pleasant surprises. There’s a cameo by Stan Lee (creator of the Marvel Comics franchise) selling Spider-Man costumes and validating that we’re all Spider-Man by gruffly confirming that his one-size-fits-all costumes fit everybody - at some point. There’s Mahershala Ali (Uncle Aaron) not lighting up the screen with his presence, primarily because he’s not on the screen. There’s Liev Schreiber (Kingpin) showing his dramatic range by shifting from his dour, but excellent, role in “Ray Donovan” to Spider-Man’s dour nemesis. In a total shocker, there’s Nicholas Cage (Spider-Man Noir) appearing in an interesting movie. There’s Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Woman/Gwen Stacy) in another transformative role. There’s Byron Tyree Henry as, wait for it, Jefferson Davis, the father of our Afro-Puerto Rican protagonist. It’s all just weird and wildly wonderful.

The plot is also predictably bizarre. As part of his plan for world domination, Kingpin has built an atomic collider that inadvertently creates a rip in the space/time continuum. Our protagonist Miles Morales (Shameik Moore – 2015’s “Dope”), a 16-year-old student at Brooklyn Visions Academy, is bitten by a mechanical spider. Soon enough, he explores his developing super powers and is out to thwart Kingpin. Because of the disruption in the space/time continuum, other Spider characters are able to come to his aid: the aforementioned Spider-Woman, Spider-Man (Chris Pine), Older Spider-Man/Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Noir (Cage as a black-and-white character in a trench coat), and, my personal favorite, Spider-Ham/Peter Porker (John Mulaney) who bears a striking resemblance to Elmer Fudd. Back to the plot: on the brink of world disaster, they collectively save the day.

Even visually, this film is disorienting. There is conventional CGI, Ben-Day dots (used regularly in vintage comic books), an anime character (Peni Parker, voiced by Kimiko Glenn), thought balloons, even written sound effects reminiscent of the old “Batman” TV series (1966-1968). Directors Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman and Robert Persichetti, Jr. have pulled out all the stops. It’s all so bizarrely unique that Sony is reportedly trying to patent the processes used to craft these unique visual mash-ups.

If you are looking for a logical/linear story line or deep insight into the human condition, get serious. You really expected that from comic book characters?! But if you want a strange but wondrous adventure, in the immortal words of Steppenwolf (1968), “You don’t know what/We can find/Why don’t you come with me little (gender neutral pronoun)/On a magic carpet ride.”

Here the talented pair, along with Avi Arad and Peter Ramsey, turn their hand to a beloved Marvel item who is no stranger to a reboot; Spider-Man. But, this time we’re not being subjected to yet another Uncle Ben death scene; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse tells the origin story of another Spidey, plucky teen, Miles Morales (an energetic Shameik Moore) as he grapples with the infamous Kingpin (Liev Schreiber), helped by a number of inter-dimensional “Spider-people”… including a washed-up, cynical Peter Parker (voiced with a nonchalant drawl by Jake Johnson). We watch as Miles grapples with finding his feet after an unfortunate interaction with a radioactive arachnid, in a hearty and humorous adventure, that feels distinctly Lord and Miller.
Into the Spider-Verse is a noticeably different adaptation of the friendly neighbourhood superhero; from the outset, the film cheekily satirises the incessant rebooting of its character (a flashback to a certain Spider-Man 3 moment gives perhaps the biggest laugh). Plenty of fun is poked out of comic-book movie tropes too; this doesn’t change the fact however that, plot-wise, Into the Spider-Verse has little to offer in terms of originality, its narrative as predictable as a Saturday morning TV cartoon. The film almost makes this redundant, however, through a stylish and confident execution, that feels fresh. Lord and Rodney Rothman’s script is full of wry humour, quick-witted, yet full of heart and honesty. Miles Morales is also a more fleshed out lead than we are used to from Marvel (despite a slightly easy resolution to his arc) and his band of misfits, whilst largely one-note, are fun enough to carry the film with ease. Brian Tyree Henry and Mahershala Ali are unfeigned as Miles’ father and uncle respectively and Jake Johnson is simply brilliant in an incarnation of Peter Parker hitherto undreamt of. An antagonist in the form of Kingpin is more disappointing, a forced motivation leaving him uninteresting and decidedly by-the-numbers. The movie leaves us little time to think on its faults though; it takes a relentless, yet natural, pace through riveting action sequences and comedic montages, with the ease of a web swing.
Into the Spider-Verse’s greatest strength, however, is its design. The animation is unique and aesthetic, delightfully reminiscent of an old-school comic strip. The film feels like a very real homage to its source material, the comic in comic book movie always coming first. Into the Spider-Verse won’t be remembered for breaking ground in plot and character, but its design alone is enough to make you want to go back for more.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have assembled a fun and frenetic film which, whilst standard on paper, is executed with artistry and flair. An incarnation of the world’s favourite superhero surely to be remembered.

It wasn't the first time I'd heard of Miles Morales, but this movie got me to read every comic with Miles in it. While the music wasn't the sort I usually listen to, I loved the way music was used in this film-- I felt like they utilized the soundtrack as well as Baby Driver at times. Though Miles was without question the main character in this story, the film also gives us a fresh take on Peter Parker that I would argue was more grounded and compelling than the majority of adult Peters in the comics. They showed that turning Peter into an adult with adult problems and disappointments doesn't make him 'unrelatable' but on the contrary, fulfils Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's the original vision of Spider-Man as an everyman hero. I hope that comic book writers will see the success of this movie and allow Peter to grow up in the comics (he's Peter Parker, not Peter Pan, guys). Fantastic movie all around. Fun for all ages. A very different MCU movie experience. Most of the characters in this film were introduced after I stopped reading comics and were new to me.

Humor Score(20/20) Maybe the funniest cast-wide performance in the MCU. Robert Downey Jr.'s wit on a troupe-wide scale.

"Death" Score(20/20) For a film that is so fast moving and funny this movie strikes a great balance with the mortality that is so evident in the unfolding events of the film and the backgrounds of the character's lives. Every time someone is in danger you really believe they might perish. The risks of the calling they've undertaken are at the forefront of the story and never far from our minds.

"Being Alone" Score(20/20) I don't know if I've seen a film since Witness that juggles so many big themes so well. With great power comes great responsibility and also, it seems, a good bit of isolation. Some of these characters have loved, lost, and decided not to love at all. Maybe as they save the world they can rescue the possibility of friendship for themselves as well.

Family Score(20/20) A third great theme. In a 2 hour movie there's only so much depth you can explore here but the scenes with Miles and and his dad are fabulous. The scene as dad drops him off for school is hilarious. The scene on either side of Miles' dorm room door is touching even though Miles doesn't(well, can't) say anything.  You want Miles to reach out to his Dad for help at that point but he eventually finds his own way to deal with his problem. Their final encounter in the street makes me long to see how their relationship develops.

"Spider-Lair" Score(5/10) A tough scene to pull off and I don't think they quite did it. Given the composition of the full team this scene came off as a little silly.

Mise-En-Scene Score(5/10) The Collider battles were sometimes just a big splash of color. You couldn't tell what was happening.

90/100

I have never been happier to be wrong about a movie because this could possibly be the best Spider-Man movie we have ever gotten. From the great animation to the feeling of being put right into a comic book and along for the ride with Miles as he becomes the new Spider-Man. Great characters and backstories that were handled very well did the movie justice and keeps you invested for the whole movie. This film should win best animated picture at the Oscars, and yes that means beating Incredibles 2. The characters, script, story, and comedy all blend together to make a great super hero movie and one that anyone of any age will enjoy watching. Expand

I was scared, at first, that this movie was going to fail due the the lack of marketing it got( last summer), but I love the fact that it has been so successful. You have to watch this movie in I-max. Now, onto the real review. The story is absolutely amazing. While it may seem like another generic superhero story at the start, hidden beneath is an absolutely amazing coming of age story with well thought out dialogue and sub plots. The aesthetic (different form animation) is jaw dropping. The music is also good. The only complaint I have is that the animation can be a little choppy at times, but you get used to it after a few minutes. I give it a 10/10. Expand

Get excited as 'Spider-Verse' breathes new life into our familiar friendly neighborhood hero. It is slickly and gorgeously animated in a way I have never seen Western cinema attempt before. This is the closest we will get to a comic book coming to life.

For a movie jam-packed with main characters, they find a fun and extremely efficient way to introduce them all without getting too repetitive or too dumbed-down. Minimal expositional dialogue gives way to creative visual devices and recalls that are implemented so satisfyingly because they treat the audience like the smart people that we are.

If you are looking for humor (meta or slapstick), lessons on power and responsibility, shocking twists (for non-comic book readers), meaningful cameos, tear-jerking emotional scenes, action-packed sequences, then you are ready to swing into this universe. I, for one, am sucked into this Spider-Verse. And I don't want out.

I wish I had watched a good movie when this came out like Call of duty modern warfare. The animation is so bad and who is this Miles guy I keep hearing about? I can't believe people wasted their money on such a bad movie. The only good part was the credits, because I like reading. Gwen Stacy is wierd. Peter Parker is wierd. Spider Ham is wierd. Anime Spider man is anime. The only way you could like this movie is if you were promised a hot fudge sundae after watching it because then you would get use out of it. I watched this movie with an 18 year old and he said it was good. He also said Puss in Boots 2 was good so I wouldn't trust his opinion. If you want to watch a good animated movie go watch Shrek the Third, Them Emoji Movie or Ralph Breaks the Internet. All cinematic masterpieces. Expand

One of the controversial things about this movie is the frame rate, it's done at 12 fps instead of the usual 24. The filmmakers did that to make the graphics pop out. The emphasis was on the illustrations instead of the buttery feel of fluid animation, making this more comic-book like than any other animated movie (even superhero movie). This is called animating 'on twos'. The part where suddenly Miles is animated on 'ones', is easy to tell: His battle with Kingpin. Suddenly he's slick and experienced, he stopped being a gawky teenager. It's a glorious and subtle moment. Expand

This is the kind of movie that comes once a generation and it really blew me away how it uses style and expert pacing to tell its new spider story never once becoming guilty of compromising the characters it shows you or crucially ever leaving the audience behind.

"For telling us we aren’t the only ones"

If you watch "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse," you're watching the fulfillment of the dream of a group of visionaries who, without thinking about it, have inspired millions and millions of people with a piece of art of unusual magnitudes among the wonderfully competitive modern animated film world, and, at the same time, have injected boldness, personality and brilliance into both Sony Pictures after unexpectedly wishy-washy box-office hit "Venom" last October and Marvel Studios' light-hearted and almost predictable live-action fanfare. A milestone in mainstream American animation: Disney and Pixar lose their annual crown this time. They play in different leagues and their only two releases scheduled for 2018, "Incredibles 2" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet," are favs among year-end movie lists, but, due to its one-kind approach and vehement freshness, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is, above all else, the non-stop-motion— relevant clarification in favor of Wes Anderson's breath-stealing showcase, "Isle of Dogs" —animated motion picture of the year and one of the most exhilarating, witty, socially thought-provoking and artfully made of the decade. The art department led by Dean Gordon and Patrick O'Keefe and the production design led by Justin Thompson have achieved something rather remarkable: to be different, meta-discursive, self-parodic, surprisingly glued to creator Steve Ditko's unique style and mightily dynamic, progressive and dazzling at the same time; guys, this is Oscar-caliber animation.

Pictures, trippy and hyper-stylized, revolve and bounce, go up and down all around the screen; the composition of every frame, diligently designed and rendered as for color and motion, is a sheer delight, a miracle that will be studied and swooned over for years to come. A piece of top-notch craftsmanship, the shots here skip from the iconic to the symbolic, from the self-referential to the most unflinching flair, the computerized cinematography catches the audience's hearts and minds. Any and all sequences are viscerally engrossing, surgically sketched and masterfully carried out; its comic roots and computer animation rules well above some Pixar's and Disney's visual pieces of art in fits and starts, in part by such a care between perfectionism and personality, handling edges so special and eye-popping that the experience turns into a high-octane kaleidoscope that, even along the closing credits, keep running. Beyond genre categories, it's great cinema, period. As a feature film, prone instinctively to social drama above mega-spectacle, it overly succeeds on its devices and purposes, as well as in the flavor it delivers all over the footage between exciting storytelling and effervescent visual prowess.

The exclusive visual storytelling is taking all the credit, but those who crafted such dazzlingly complex marvel were directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman, screenwriter/producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Passion, commitment and vision are three words that perfectly can be the soul of what these men wanted to project throughout the feature. The pre-credit dedication has a truly priceless purpose, enclosing all the ideas and feelings these people had in their minds and hearts when as they say, thousands of doors were closed, but one would always be open: to believe in themselves. We all know Phil and Chris, not only because of the controversy their "Solo: A Star Wars Story" firing unleashed last year, but also their uproariously funny, witty scripts such as "Deadpool" and "The Lego Movie." Nevertheless, the trio of filmmakers is relatively unknown at the wheel of a movie, save for Ramsey's "Rise of the Guardians," for this reason, it's even more surprising to take in that a near perfect masterpiece came out from these brand-new visionaries.

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, above being a priceless gift for animation, is a one-of-a-kind superhero film, a respectful and sharp commentary on diversity and a piece of art for the ages; a response to the hatred, disrespect, and violence controlling minds and bodies in unjustified warfares. Is this the perfect antidote for an era of Trump, wrong traditionalism, walls, massacres, and indulgences? Forget about one of the best computer-animated superhero movies ever made, this is a reminder that we're not individuals, we're society, that dreaming is what keeps the world in motion and failure what keeps it evolving. Lee's gone now, but this cinematic feat is a proudly fitting tribute; Ditko is a maestro of out-of-reach scopes. Lee and Ditko have inspired millions, including this bunch of visionaries, who in turn have inspired all of us and our moment has come now; you know what they say: with great power comes great responsibility.

Aspectos Positivos:Tudo.

Aspectos negativos: Nada a ressalvar.

Em sumo Spider Man no universo aranha é um óptimo filme, que mostra uma outra ideia do homem aranha e de forma muito bem conseguida.

It’s stop motion 3D animation style blends in seamlessly with the comic-book art style and visual effects as well as some of the coolest looking shots in the film. Character progression is at a all time high with the exception of the antagonist and all of it plays well into Miles Morales character arc as well as everyone else’s. The action sequences are amazing, whatever shocks and twists the film has are, needless to say, well executed and the fact that SONY took this opportunity to actually have some fun and poke some fun with all its cliches and gimmicks, this film explores the classics as well as the uniquely bizarre, which I fear will probably turn off some average moviegoers who haven't experienced these characters yet. But if you can't embrace a film like that, it's probably not for you. As a coming of age story, it’s fresh. As a Miles Morales story and an origin story, it’s very enthralling and fulfilling. But as a Spider-Man story, let alone one we haven’t seen on the silver screen yet, it’s spectacular. Rather than a replacement, we get a successor to the legacy. This is one of the better tales of the character I’ve seen yet and is practically on the same level as Spider-Man 2, if not better. And considering how SONY has already confirmed a franchise is in the works, I’m just praying to the almighty Madam Web that success does not get to them and maybe we won’t get a repeat like we did 11 years ago. Well.....either way, it’s gonna be fun seeing where they go next. Expand

Certainly it's better than your average superhero story but it's not that much better and is still filled with cliches at the end of the day. If you're after the visual effects and don't want to take the story too seriously (which I guess is indeed how you would read the comics), and understand the various references the movie makes, then this could be for you. I love Spider-man universe and it makes me happy that Sony took this road. This animation style is amazing and beautiful it felt like you were watching a comic-book! Miles Morales was a funny and accurate character and other spider-man/woman versions too! This movie had a fun and interesting story and it had some sad parts too. Some jokes also landed well. Even thou this animation style was comic-bookie and colorful it wasn't hard to follow what happened on a screen. And the stories behind the main characters were explored simply and quick which I liked! But hope they explore them more if they are gonna make a sequel (prettyyyy sure they will!)
Cons? only a couple of small ones. The soundtrack had hits and misses but overall good score. I wished they could explore those bad guys better. The story was simple in some places but the journey was fun and quick.

The premise of the movie is simply "Bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway, Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales suddenly develops mysterious powers that transform him into the one and only Spider-Man. When he meets Peter Parker, he soon realizes that many others share his special, high-flying talents. Miles must now use his newfound skills to battle the evil Kingpin, a hulking madman who can open portals to other universes and pull different versions of Spider-Man into our world". I absolutely adored it when it came out but do I still feel that way after rewatching it?

Firstly, the animation style and 3D models are absolutely amazing! While I do love the Pixar style of animation, this comic book style of animation was such a breath of fresh air in the animated film department. I also appreciate a lot of the aesthetic choices such as having this shaky movement instead of fluid which further makes it feel like a comic book come to life. The action scenes are also animated really well and are an absolute blast to watch as well. Clearly, a lot of thought went into this and it clearly shows in the movie. Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is a great main lead. He isn't perfect and is actually very flawed with them making a fair amount of what would be frustrating mistakes. However, the directors succeed in still making us root for him as we can see how much he really wants to pull through for the team. Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) is another great Spiderman in this movie who is a mentor figure for Miles. He is a person who has been doing this spiderman business for over 20 years and has a lot of problems with his Peter Parker life such as his divorce with Mary Jane. Due to this, he is quite neglectful of Miles but he goes through his own character arc that is done very well. His chemistry with Miles is one of the things that really shine in this movie. Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) is the third Spider character that appears in the movie and is mostly there to be the competent and supportive one in the group for Miles. The other three Spider characters Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn) and Peter Porker (John Mulaney) are also all very distinct and different in personality which is perfectly converted despite small screentime. The cast is also phenomenal, everyone does a great job, especially Shameik Moore and Jake Johnson. There is also some other stellar casting like Brian Tyree Henry as Mile's dad, Mahershala Ali as Mile's Uncle Aaron, Chris Pine as Peter Parker of Mile's universe, Zoë Kravitz as Mary Jane, Kathryn Hahn as Doc Octopus, Liev Schreiber as Kingpin and even Oscar Issac for a mysterious role that I won't spoil. It's an all-star cast and even though some have small roles, Sony still went through with casting big known actors. They all do a great job. The excellent soundtrack further elevates this movie. Every time the Prowler is in the movie there is this horn in the soundtrack that makes him seem more threatening. Additionally, there are some pop, R&B, rap songs within the movie that all fit really well and gives more identity to the movie and characters. The story is simple yet intriguing enough to keep the audience engaged. It introduced the complex multiverse idea but doesn't overcomplicate it to make it distracting. There are multiple villains but the director makes sure the main focus of villains is Kingpin which is a good idea as multiple focus villains will make the plot feel convoluted. There is also excellent dialogue which is thanks to Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman. The jokes all land and the serious moments are heart-warming and the banter enjoyable. It's good dialogue and none feel wasted. If I have to give the movie a flaw then I would say it is kind of the Spiderman group dynamic. Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker and Peter Porker don't interact much with Miles apart from being extremely harsh on him. It makes the last moments with these Spider characters not as strong. Miles also just become an extremely adept Spiderman because the plot needs him to be. It doesn't completely feel justified since it doesn't feel like he was provided with enough training to be that good. However, it doesn't break the movie and the sacrifices are understandable to keep this origin story in just under 2 hours.

Overall, Spider-Man into the Spider-verse is still one of the best-animated movies to come out in a long time. I still loved it after rewatching it. It's a fresh take on Spider-Man that we haven't seen before in a movie. If you haven't watched this movie yet then you must absolutely watch this movie. I can't wait for the sequel!

Speculate all you want as to where this discrepancy comes from, it is the unfortunate truth. I will now enumerate how this film is great. The first thing I will note is likely the thing that is noted the most, that being that the film being cell-shaded truly causes it to emulate a comic book and provide an unparalleled experience. The voice acting is (mostly) great and each of the characters was not only uniquely stylized but also well defined and consistent. The visual gags and the not-slapstick humour were all well done, and, more generally, the visual storytelling helps the movie tell more with less (or with more depending on how you count it). The shots were all well and the camera movements all were constantly moving and very fluid, something that helped give life to the movie’s world. Finally, I would like to mention the writing. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse manages to accomplish something that none of its predecessors really could to the same magnitude, and that is to be a Spider-Man movie. This film captures the essence of the character and feels like it was made by people who feel similarly about the entity. Expand
