The worst movie of Spiderman. I never thought that the most popular character in the world (and especially myself) would have a movie like this. However, it is never as bad as garbage like Catwoman and Steel.
But the main villain is his biggest problem. After the arrival of the symbiote and the black suit, the movie goes astray. Why? Because the script for Venom was not written! Venom was imposed on Sam Raimi.
Sandman has also tried to become a great villain, but more like Frankenstein, pity over motivation.
Peter Parker's behavior under the influence of the symbiote is disgusting. That is, they could show an aggressive Peter, but what he is delivering falls in the middle of the street!
The performance of all the actors is great (except Tofer Grace, damn it!) That is, Tobey Maguire, who is practically the star of the movie. James Franco is a head and neck higher than the previous times. And with his own death at the end of the movie, he showed a heroic sacrifice. Likewise, Kirsten Dunst, J.K. Simmons, Rosemary Harris, etc. are all excellent. But the script did not give any of them a chance.
In general, this is the most disappointing comic book movie. Because the previous two works were great and this one had the ability to become a real masterpiece. But alas...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a surprisingly more emotional and darker movie than the previous two. I think those scenes are highlights, but I feel like the movie is overlong and and has too much going on. I feel like the villains should be reduced to two, and have Spider Man fight sandman and have harry osbourne by his side too. Nonetheless, it has some great moments and a great excuse for the That 70s Show star to break out as a film villain. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Although I love this movie to death, I can wholeheartedly agree it has its missteps and the lost potential it could’ve have if it was done correctly. This isn’t Sam Raimi’s fault at all, as some may say it was lied forcefully into the hands of Avi Arad of how he thinks this movie should’ve played out with its villains, especially venom. Besides that, comparing this third entry to the past movies of 1 & 2, it has degraded a bit in terms of a pretty muddled plot with a lot thrown at you to focus but upon my multiple viewings I never really had a problem with it. The problem was that there was too many antagonists to begin with for Spider-Man to face, since one may’ve felt forced in, one may’ve felt rushed, this isn’t some sort of multiverse or sinister six movie anyways, the point being some didn’t have the room to breathe for character development.

Like there were some misuses when Venom (Eddie Brock) and Sandman (Flint Marco), were teaming up in this dark alley way then Venom talking in his irregular voice “I” want him dead too Flint or “I” want to kill the spider, this is a mess up since the character Venom always refers to himself as “we” in the comics, so it takes away the personality of the symbiote and also since it’s made to seem like there’s one organism when there’s technically two.

Out of all the issues I talked about, there’s still a lot of good to be had with Spider-Man 3 as I had a blast every time I watched it, including the notorious memes and the soundtrack, everyone still does their part decently.

7.2/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie... has a lot to it.
It may seem like a "bad" movie, rushed and confusing, but both the cast and crew faced many obstacles that make me look at this in another way.
I'm not a movie-critic (and I don't pretend to be), I'm just a comic-book reader who enjoys CB-stuff and wants to talk about them. I get it that critics look at a movie for what it is not what went behind the courtains, but I don't do that.
I really respect Sam Raimi as a director, he already proved himself more than capable in his Evil Dead franchise and Spider-Man 1/2, so when I learned that he was forced to make a movie with characters he didn't like, I was surprised.
When you look at it not as a mess of a movie, but as the efforts of a fan trying to do the best he can with a box of not-connected elments that some guy told him to do.
The premise of the movie in itself is amazing; Peter learned what responsability is, what it's weight is and now learned how to deal with it and he's living the high-point in his life. Seeing a hero who struggled two movies to be better now acting like a prick is heartbreaking, you feel how disappointed Aunt May and Mary Jane are because you are as well, but you still have faith in Peter and by the end of the movie he learns how to forgive and let go of his demons that led him to such a dark place.
Sandman is an intriguing character. He's definetly different from the comics, but I'm not concerned about that (99% of CB adaptations differ from the source material anyway), I just dislike it when the change is for the worse, which isn't the case. At first, I was against it; I always though Carradine should be the one who pulled the trigger, but now I understand Raimi's intention: revenge and forgiveness, the driving point for Peter's downfall and he's redemption, respectivelly, and that's beautiful to me. Also, Marco is the protagonist to many emotional scenes that I enjoy.
Eddie Brook is another character I didn't like at first, but after knowing that he was forced into the movie even though Raimi has no feelings for the character made everything clear. He is a good Eddie, but instead of the brute bully, he's a pathetic loser. It's a nice twist and a little more screen-time could have benefited him a lot. He's not amazing like Ock or Goblin, but he's a really effective character.
Harry Osborn. Wow. I see his arc and I love it, but the amnesia thing is clearly something Raimi came up to move the other parts foward more easily so I can forgive that. I won't go on for too long, but he's arc is one of the best in the series and I loved the end of it.
All the other characters continue to shine; the Bugle crew, Aunt May, etc are all enjoyable, but Mary Jane's character takes on another level of depth. Gwen differs A LOT from the source material and it's not a "change for the better". Liz Allen could've been a better character, but I don't know if Raimi intented her to do more, so I'll let it slide.
The ending is also beautiful, no words, just two soul-mates reconcilling and getting together.
I'm obviously a Raimi Fan but I don't shy away from this fact. You can dislike this movie or the trilogy, prefer other movies over them and I give you all the reason to do this, opinions are important and everyone should have their own and be respected for it. This is mine: These movies are peak Spider-Man, peak Marvel, peak Comic-Books. I love them.

Well,By all means, Spider-Man 3 is not a bad movie, but the many flaws with the film make it the weakest of the series. But it is still enjoyable, however I did think the first two were better in terms of plot, characterisation and pacing. Well, there are a lot of good things. Out of the three films, this one is the best visually. The look of the whole film is mind blowing, with splendid special effects, brilliantly choreographed fight sequences and spectacular set pieces. The music is excellent, and the direction was efficient enough.

And the acting is very good, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are appealing as Peter and Mary-Jane and Rosemary Harris sparkles as Auntie May. Topher Grace is great as Brock but underused as Venom, but as Sandman Thomas Haden Church was note perfect and the best developed of the villains. James Franco is an improvement as Harry, and Bryce Dallas Howard is delightfully photogenic as Gwen Stacey. I loved JK Simmons as Jameson, in all three Spider-Man movies he stole every scene he appeared in.

However, there are a number of things that made it inferior to the first two. Basically and most importantly, and this was a similar problem I had with Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End, it all felt a bit bloated. Two reasons made it so. One was too many characters. Primarily the villains, here, we get not one but three villains. While they were well performed, the character development of the villains felt rushed. Venom especially had way too little screen time as a result, and the final showdown between them felt a tad on the contrived side. Whereas you felt the menace of the Green Goblin and the tragedy of Dr Octopuss you are not always sure what to think here. Second, the plot as result to cramming too much in particularly with the idea of Spider-Man turning bad was rather convoluted, and was further disadvantaged by some surprisingly stodgy pacing. Other flaws were that the scripting lacked freshness and authenticity and the film was a bit too long.

All in all, it certainly wasn't bad. As a matter of fact it was enjoyable. But it could've been better. 6/10 Bethany Cox

It was my favorite film from my childhood. I was 7 years old when I watched this film, and I loved it. But, after I grew up I understood that there are some problems with this film. But, my rating is still 5/5 and 9/10. THE GOOD POINTS= The action scenes are way more than awesome and I don't think that anyone would disagree with this. The scenes like when Spider-Man saved Gwen Stacy from the top of the building, Bully Maguire moments, Harry chasing Peter at the beginning (Because that was emotional), the scene in which Spider-Man almost died if Harry didn't come there to save and help him, when Peter got the symbiote, the first fight scene between Sandman and Spider-Man as well as the subway battle scene, etc. were way more than beautiful scenes and the entire scene where Eddie Broke got the symbiote in that church was the best scene in the film. And from the film, we can remember these scenes only even after we've watched it a long time ago. And the last battle scene between Venom/Sandman and Spider-Man/Harry Osborn was way more than awesome. And the two most emotional scenes from the movie as well as the two greatest scenes from the film. When Peter forgave Sandman after knowing his story and the death of Harry and the dialogues in those scenes with the emotional background scores were way more than awesome and impactful. And, people may make memes of Tobey's crying but everyone will accept that he has the most realistic crying skills during acting. And, I noticed one thing that where Norman died attempting to kill Peter (Actually his alter ego did) there Harry died attempting to save Peter and said "None of them matters Peter, you're my friend right?" And the dialogues are also awesome like " You'll get the rent when you'll fix this damn door" The Bad Points= Both Venom and Sandman should have got more time to build their characters. I don't even understand that why Sandman was even in this film. And Venom also appeared for 30 mins only and then a great villain like him died. And who the hell kisses another girl in front of the public while your girlfriend is standing right in front of you? What Peter was thinking at that time? And Venom came into The Earth while Pete was present.. Where the hell was Peter's Spider-Sense? And due to so many things happening in the film, the movie feels rushed. But the fault is Sony. It could have been better if it came in parts like Spider-Man 3 Part 1 (2007) Spider-Man 3 Part-2 (2008) where the part 1 could have finished with Eddie Broke becoming Venom and in the second part, the characters got more time to develop and then the ending fight, death of Harry & Venom, etc. could have shown and the entire Spider-Man 3 Part 1&2 could have been epic. Though I disagree that this is a bad film. Expand

Expand

About the villains, the only one who we can save is Sandman, I think he is the best of the film at first, but at the end show up something what detracts development to that character, Harry Osborn was OK and Venom totally wasted.
It adds great elements to the story like Gwen Stacy or moment like the hardest scenes between Mary Jean and Peter Parker, obviously the advices of Aunt May and that's it.

Despite all these problems, the worst-received movie, from the comics industry, was created. BUT, this film eventually matured like wine. Many of the references and ideas that Raimi smuggled into this film are really good, and as a result, with countless MCU films behind us, the film offers a far better psychological story than most MCU films. And people noticed it, and they look at the film differently. Raimi was timeless, although the filming was not the most beautiful, he took the material what he did not know quite well and managed. First off, I like how delves into the themes of forgiveness and revenge, as we see Peter getting swallowed by his own pride and how it leads to his descent into darkness. I also love how handled some of the character arcs in the film, especially the conflict between Peter, MJ and Harry, which was built around the the first two films. I love the performances by the cast, especially Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Thomas Hayden Church. The special effects are well-done for the most part and the action sequences are more high-octane than ever. However, you can tell this movie is plagued with studio interference, as the movie tries to juggle different storylines and multiple villains and none of them are fleshed out properly and it ends up being messy. Topher Grace was fine as Eddie Brock, but I didn't like how they handled Venom. Peter's turn into evil is played for laughs and it's poorly done. Overall, Spider-Man 3 may not be the worst superhero ever, but it's a major disappointment that doesn't quite live up to the first two films. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In many ways, Spider-Man 3 is structurally the same as its two predecessors: Peter starts out the movie as Spider-Man and the villains, who aren’t inherently villains, become so as the movie progresses. The biggest difference this time is that there are two villains rather than one and Peter plays a big part in why the villains are fighting him. In many ways, this same structure works to the film’s benefit and gives us some interesting characters and nice action sequences. It’s another example of if a system isn’t broken, don’t fix it. SM 3 also adds a lot of depth to Peter’s relationships with those around him, which becomes especially important as Peter changes throughout the film in pretty drastic ways that have big consequences for him. SM 3 is a movie that exemplifies that concept that you can be your own worst enemy. The acting is pretty good overall, although there is a casting choice that to this day I’m not a big fan of. The effects in the movie have slightly raised the bar from the previous films, making this a slight improvement from SM and SM 2. All that said, SM 3 is a bit of a letdown and isn’t as good as the other two. Many scenes lack the directorial and written finesse than they had in the first two which causes some scenes to feel really awkward and a bit disruptive to the flow of the film. The dialogue is a bit cheesy at times and there are some scenes that don’t make a lot of sense. Sandman and Venom are decent villains but they aren’t quite as good as Green Goblin and Doc Ock were, which is partially because they come from different plotlines so there isn’t as much time to develop their characters as there would optimally be. One of the biggest issues of SM 3 is exactly that: there are a bunch of storylines going on at once so the movie doesn’t have a clear and direct focus for a lot of its runtime, so certain things don’t get the development they deserve. The film balances all these stories as well as it can and overall does a decent job, but there are things that could’ve been explored a bit more. The ending has an emotional punch to it to nicely caps off the trilogy and should leave viewers satisfied enough as the credits roll. SM 3 is undoubtedly a letdown from its two predecessors but is a decent enough movie to be watchable and enjoyable at times. Expand

Spiderman 3 is an underrated movie to me I will say why Spiderman 3 is about Peter Park actually finally gets it piece together but while he gets the symbiote and makes horrible decisions while sandman is trying to get money for his daughter because she is dieing also Harry is trying to kill spiderman because of his dad realizes that spiderman did not kill him he killed himself Venom is just there So Spiderman 3 I really enjoy this movie I have always have but I realized that the story and the writing is not good as the last two installments of Spiderman like in this movie harry goes after spiderman peter and harry go to his house than he is gone through the movie because we need time for venom to shine which is retarded because if we did not have Venom I feel like this movie would have been great but no we had to have venom for no reason I like new Goblin a lot but the writing is not good so we don't see him much and Sandman I am glad they tried a Sandman story I like sandman a lot in the comics he was decent in this film the bad is venom and the writing venom is only in the movie the last 15 minutes but through out the movie peter gets the symbiote so that's becomes really bad I don't hate or dislike it bad as a story it is not good because now Peter wants revenge because uncle ben killer is not dead I do like the black suit not venom So Yeah overall a decent enough end to the trilogy I love I hope we ever go back to this it will be great now all we get is universe and everything has to connect I love how simple these movies were and so great So I give Spider-Man 3 an B- Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The final installment in the original trilogy, Spider-Man 3 is a solid film though it doesn’t quite measure up to its predecessors. We start the movie with Peter still going to college studying the hard sciences, he’s on top of his class and still working for the Daily Bugle as a photographer and dating Mary Jane Watson. Harry Osborn, his former best friend, having found out that Peter was Spider-Man in the last movie and discovered his father’s secret Green Goblin lair has undergone the performance enhancing procedure that gave his father his abilities and drove him insane. He plans to exact revenge on Peter for his father’s death and attacks Peter as the second Green Goblin using his father’s tech in an early fight sequence which takes place on the streets of Manhattan with Peter out of his Spidey costume. He ends up losing the fight and develops amnesia in a cliche and uninspired subplot to get him out of the way for another supervillain, Flint Mark or the Sandman, a small-time crook who is down on his luck, gains sand shape-shifting abilities in a freak accident, and has a young daughter dying of an undisclosed illness. It’s revealed, in a somewhat contrived way, that Flint Marko had something to do with the carjacking that resulted in Uncle Ben being shot and loosing his life. A black alien symbiotic goo attaches itself to Peter, turns his costume black and enhances his abilities. It also gives him a dark side, as he turns to a darker nature and gets revenge on Sandman attempting to kill him. Although the symbiote storyline had potential, it is largely played up for laughs, showcasing Peter dancing in the streets and nightclubs and it can get pretty campy. Gwen Stacy is introduced in this one, to serve as a love interest that complicates Peter and Mary Jane’s relationship. I liked the love triangle aspect in this movie, and thought Peter and MJ’s complicated relationship seemed believable, both actresses that played Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane were attractive and likable like their comic book counterparts. Eddie Brock, the rival photographer at the Daily Bugle is played by pumped up Topher Grace who is disgraced by Peter when Peter is under the influence of the alien symbiote. As Peter is removing the symbiote in a church, the symbiote bonds with Brock and he becomes the villainous Venom, who vows revenge on Spider-Man. Venom is only in the movie for the final third of the movie and teams up with Sandman to kidnap Mary Jane and hold her hostage. Spider-Man ends up rescuing her with the help of Harry, suited up as the Goblin with his glider. Unfortunately, Venom ends up impaling Harry with his glider in a similar fashion to the way his father died. Peter kills Venom, forgives Sandman and lets Sandman go, an aspect of the movie I am a little critical of. Peter ends up getting back together with MJ at the end of the movie. Overall, not the strongest Spider-Man movie, but still a good movie. Expand

Görsel efektler de on numara. Dövüşme kısımları, dostluğun sonradan rekabete dönüşmesi falan filmde çok güzel işlenmiş. Kısacası benim için Spider-Man 3 en iyi örümcek adam filmidir. Expand

I really wanted to see them on the big screen. In fact I didn't like Spider-Man 2 back then because I absolutely hated Doc Oc. But this movie, damn, this was the best movie for me!

Everything people say about this movie is bad, I like those exact things. Too many plots? Good. Emo Parker? Awesome! The way Sandman was shown? I love it. There's no convincing me otherwise. The only problem I had was that Venom was a mindless beast whereas in reality he does speak normally. It was more of a lack of understanding of a character than studio meddling.

You will enjoy this movie more if you binge watch it along with the previous two movies. It seems to absolutely fit in the pieces. The character arc of Peter is also very satisfactory. It may not hold up against the other two movies of the trilogy, but it is an epic journey of Peter Parker going from being a high school nerd to becoming one of the most popular superheroes of all time. And there is no other Spider-Man movie until now that has shown this saga better.

This film has great moments, but overall just not a great script. The most confounding thing about the plot is that, despite being together for years at this point, Peter seems to have confided very little to her about his life as Spider-Man. Mary Jane doesn't even seem to know any details about the Green Goblin, who kidnapped her and tried to throw her off a bridge in the first film. So when Harry shows up for revenge, Peter is still not talking about what's going on, and it creates a dangerous situation for them both. Pete and MJ just don't have a very close relationship. Expand

The intrepid Parker is on top of the world as N.Y.C. citizens have finally come to appreciate all of his heroic deeds, but more importantly he's found a stable relationship with Mary Jane Watson. His seemingly perfect existence comes to an abrupt halt when he learns that his uncle's real killer is still at large, acquires a rival at the Daily Bugle, and best friend-turned-bitter adversary Harry Osborn comes seeking revenge. Peter also bonds with an unusual black symbiote that unleashes a darker side of him and threatens to destroy everything he holds dear. Some effective moments of intense, exciting action and superior special effects are undermined by overlength, and juxtaposed against moments of corny, unintentionally funny human drama. The ingredients for a success are there, including a good cast and some interesting subplots, but they can't overcome a leaden script which chooses to revel in its mawkish material rather than flesh out its characters or tell a coherent story. Watchable, but never as engaging or spectacular as its predecessors. **½ Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd say it's the most underrated Spider-Man movie, this movie gets a lot of hate but to me it doesn't really deserve it. The reasons on why the movie doesn't deserve the hate it gets is Sandman, sandman is one of the beautifully designed villains in the movie and I'd even say Eddie Brock aka Venom who's played by Topher Grace is an amazing villain when he is either of these characters. Also, the fight scenes in the movie are just amazing, the train fight scene with Black suited Spider-Man and Sandman is just great. I think another great scene in the movie is when Peter get's rid of the symbiote in the bell tower, the symbiote looks so well designed to look like this gooey, liquidy and vicious black goo. Almost forgot to mention, the emo dance scene is just perfect it just shows how Peter thinks that he's cool but in reality he is just still the goofy nerd that he has always been known for being. Finally, the ending to the movie is perfect when Peter and Harry forgive each other and return as best friends to fight the bad guys off. The only negatives I have towards the movie is the poor CGI and green screen effects when Harry and Peter have their first fight while he is going through the alleyway. Also, another negative I have on the movie is on how it relies on the CGI faces and it doesn't hold up quite well. Overall this movie is really underrated and it shouldn't get the hate it gets to this day. Expand

I'm not hating on the studio for doing a bad job on this one but this is just what happens when you try to please everybody. It's such a shame that the original Spider Man franchise had to end like this. I wanted it to be so much more memorable.

This still is a great movie even if it felt like two separate movies stacked on top of each other. This would've worked really well if maybe they had more time to put everything together.

Yes, there was too much to process, but I still think it's a great ending to an epic trilogy.

It felt like a totally different Spider-Man. It's such a shame because they had such a good storyline that connected the previous films.

I really tried my best to not hate it but it's hard not to compare it to the first two successful Spider-Man movies.

Tobey Maguire isn't good at being bad. Don't get me wrong, he played a great Spider-Man in the first two films but he just isn't cut for being evil.
