Spider-Man 3 was far superior to the clich'e events that took place in Spider-Man 2. The execution of 3 was perfect. It was well paced and the characters were all very well defined. I'm sure it was no easy task fitting 40 years of comic book history into three, two and a half hour movies, but Raimi pulls it off with precision. The movie touched on many emotions. The only flaw I found with this movie was in Venom's character. A. Venom has razor webbing. B. Speaks of himself as "We' as apposed to "I". C. No hinting to the creation of the character "Carnage". This movie re-captures the feel of the first Once again, I'm going to have to disagree with the critics on this one. This movie was better than the 1st one, and it completely BLOWS AWAY the tear-filled, slow paced 2nd installment. This movie re-captures the feel of the first Spider-Man and mixes it with the improved effects from Spider-Man 2 (and really tops those as well) to create a nearly perfect Spider-Man movie. Best superhero movie I've ever seen. I was really into it. And after spending the entire 2nd movie sulking and lacking any redeeming qualities, Harry really is brought back in the 3rd movie as a very likable character. The scenes involving him and Peter are where the movie's at its best. Then there's the dark Spider-Man, also really high point of the movie, and there's the awesome Venom.... There's just too much great stuff to count. It does seem a little convoluted at first but it eventually evens itself out and ends up creating a very fun, action-packed movie that definitely outdoes the first 2 in almost every way imaginable. Definitely worth seeing. Would have been a perfect 10 if the script was edited...just slightly. Please keep superhero movies at under 2 hours, guys.... Expand

On the pro side, it was definitely the deepest of the trilogy and had the best character development in Peter, MJ, and Harry. On the con side, there was too many coincidences (the sympiote falling next to MJ and Peter, Marko stumbling into the particle physics experiment) and Sandman wasn't developed enough. I feel that Venom and Harry were, though. The focus of Venom was more on Eddie Brock and his gradual hatred for Spidey/Peter until it consumed him fully. Harry was juxtaposed to Brock to show forgiveness despite his hate. One last thing that bugged me a little was Sandman himself. Green Goblin and Ock were introduced in a way that seemed scientifically possible, while Sandman's creation was kinda ridiculous and was left unexplained. Spider-Man 3 was definitely good, but it sags at a few times under its characters' own weight. Expand

I loved the scenes with Parker under the influence of the dark suit, like his musical number in MJ's bar, his tantrum with the landlord, and his pimp moves stylin down broadway or 5th Ave or whatever. The pans that don't think this movie's perky enough just aren't able to string words together. The photojournalist that becomes a monster isn't a riot? The sand guy just trying to protect his little girl isn't a great metaphor for all the mistakes a father makes? These tinhorn critics just ain't gettin it. Expand

I think some negative reviews are OTT. It ain't as perfect as the other 2 films but it's not far off. In terms of action and special effects it's actually the most spectacular of the 3 films. This isn't to say it forgets I think some negative reviews are OTT. It ain't as perfect as the other 2 films but it's not far off. In terms of action and special effects it's actually the most spectacular of the 3 films. This isn't to say it forgets the human side that made this series what it is. The action (as good as it is) still plays second fiddle to the relationships and troubles of Peter Parker. It's to the writers credit that you find yourself caring more about the personal peoblems of Peter, Mary and Harry then whether Sandman trashes the city. Performances from all main protagonists are solid. Special mention to Thomas Haden Church's understated Sandman and James Franco who excells now that he's given a more substantial role. Any problems with this film seem to lie with the confused direction of Sam Raimi. Half way through Spidey dons the black suit, changes character and goes on a rampage. Things start to get interesting. This is completly spoiled as Raimi goes overboard on the "comedy". The bits with Parker strutting down the street, eyeing up girls and dancing like a cross between john Travolta and David Brent just made me cringe. There's a paradox here and it doesn't work; Is this meant to be a darker Spiderman film (as the pre film hype would have us believe) or a comedy? Is the black Spiderman meant to be nasty and dangerous with attitude or a pervy village idiot? It's as if Raimi wanted to make a darker, grittier Spiderman but chickened out half way through. Another black mark against Yankee Doodle Raimi is yet more shamefully blatent flag waving near the end of the film. Yes, we know Spiderman's American we don't need it shoving in our faces. So, in conclusion this is an entertaining yet flawed film but not as bad as some people say. Expand

The pamphlet's thesis was that to truly serve the Lord, Christians have to say goodbye to those things in the world they love, just as Peter Parker, in order to effectively fight crime and save the world (or at least New York City), must give up his beloved Mary Jane. Since great drama often involves having to make impossible Sophie's choices like this, the first Spider-Man movie still stands as the cream of Sam Raimi's trilogy. It tells us that you can't fulfill your destiny and STILL have MJ's love at the same time; Spider-Man 2, seen by most critics and fans as the apex of the series, counters that you CAN. Spider-Man 3's thesis is that, yes, it IS possible...but it's tough work. All the debate about whether this installment is overlong, overstuffed and/or has two or three villains too many has obscured the fact that, even more than Spideys 1 and 2, Spidey 3 is a relationship movie front and center; lose the action sequences, colorful costumes and mysterious black goo, and you've got a bigger chick flick than Pretty Woman. The ups and downs of Peter's and MJ's romance are discussed at great length and in great detail, with not one but two third parties around to provide dramatic conflict...and, most revealingly of all, the movie's final shot is NOT of Spidey in action but of...well, see for yourself. Co-scenarist Alvin Sargent's previous credits (Ordinary People, Julia) clearly show that he knows his way around material like this, but the occasionally forced results, such as an extended restaurant sequence in which MJ (Kirsten Dunst) tries to share a heartbreaking professional setback with Peter (Tobey Maguire) and every contrivance in the world including a Clouseau-like head waiter combines to keep the message uncommunicated, show that Sargent isn't quite working at his peak here. (And in regards to another subplot, someone should remind Sargent and co-writers Sam and Ivan Raimi that amnesia, short-term memory or whatever you want to call it, was officially outlawed by Congress after it was used in a Gomer Pyle episode in 1967.) More successful is the movie's depiction of Peter's increasingly excessive pride in being Spider-Man, which morphs into hubris and then egomania. This is depicted powerfully enough that the comic-book McGuffin (a spiny, tar-like substance from the skies with characteristics common to the Alien, the Beast with Five Fingers and the Id Monster) doesn't seem entirely necessary to explain it. Whether three villains in one movie is or isn't a case of oversplat is best left discussed elsewhere, but it is what it is, and Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace and James Franco are more than satisfactory, with Church very affectingly haunted as Sandman; all three have interesting and convincing dimensions and motivations, but then Spider-Man's nemeses have always had more gray areas than a shelf full of Jodi Picoult novels. Special effects are more than worth your ten bucks (Sandman's transformation in particular is memorably majestic and tragic) and the climactic punch-and-spin-out over the city delivers the goods, even if the unnecessary inclusion of reporters telling us what we're already seeing is hokey enough for a 1940s serial but has no place here. Spidey 3 isn't perfect, and yes, it is overall the weakest of the three, but it's interestingly offbeat and ambitious. In The Summer Of The Third Part That's Less Than The Other Two (Either Together Or Individually), if you have to choose to spend your entertainment dollars on either Spidey or Sparrow, far better to get bitten on the hand than stabbed in the back. We start the movie with Peter still going to college studying the hard sciences, he’s on top of his class and still working for the Daily Bugle as a photographer and dating Mary Jane Watson. Harry Osborn, his former best friend, having found out that Peter was Spider-Man in the last movie and discovered his father’s secret Green Goblin lair has undergone the performance enhancing procedure that gave his father his abilities and drove him insane. He plans to exact revenge on Peter for his father’s death and attacks Peter as the second Green Goblin using his father’s tech in an early fight sequence which takes place on the streets of Manhattan with Peter out of his Spidey costume. He ends up losing the fight and develops amnesia in a cliche and uninspired subplot to get him out of the way for another supervillain, Flint Mark or the Sandman, a small-time crook who is down on his luck, gains sand shape-shifting abilities in a freak accident, and has a young daughter dying of an undisclosed illness. It’s revealed, in a somewhat contrived way, that Flint Marko had something to do with the carjacking that resulted in Uncle Ben being shot and loosing his life. A black alien symbiotic goo attaches itself to Peter, turns his costume black and enhances his abilities. It also gives him a dark side, as he turns to a darker nature and gets revenge on Sandman attempting to kill him. Although the symbiote storyline had potential, it is largely played up for laughs, showcasing Peter dancing in the streets and nightclubs and it can get pretty campy. Gwen Stacy is introduced in this one, to serve as a love interest that complicates Peter and Mary Jane’s relationship. I liked the love triangle aspect in this movie, and thought Peter and MJ’s complicated relationship seemed believable, both actresses that played Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane were attractive and likable like their comic book counterparts. Eddie Brock, the rival photographer at the Daily Bugle is played by pumped up Topher Grace who is disgraced by Peter when Peter is under the influence of the alien symbiote. As Peter is removing the symbiote in a church, the symbiote bonds with Brock and he becomes the villainous Venom, who vows revenge on Spider-Man. Venom is only in the movie for the final third of the movie and teams up with Sandman to kidnap Mary Jane and hold her hostage. Spider-Man ends up rescuing her with the help of Harry, suited up as the Goblin with his glider. Unfortunately, Venom ends up impaling Harry with his glider in a similar fashion to the way his father died. Peter kills Venom, forgives Sandman and lets Sandman go, an aspect of the movie I am a little critical of. Peter ends up getting back together with MJ at the end of the movie. Overall, not the strongest Spider-Man movie, but still a good movie. Expand

I will actually take this one over any of the new Amazing Spider Mans and even maybe the first Raimi one. Sure there is the whole rebellious Peter Parker that comes off a little forced, or the indestructible Harry Osbourne Jr., who can survive high falls at maximum speeds. He can even take a grenade point blank and come up with only a couple of scars on his face. That aside I liked the team up of Venom and Sandman. The ending is great and even some of the themes of forgiveness are able to hit their mark. Expand

It is my favorite of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy (yes I liked it better than 2) It has the best dialogue out of all of them in which Maguire no longer is contented with a blank stare, and in my opinion has the most relatable and interesting villain of them all, the Sandman. His birth and eventual redemption are some of the most powerful I have ever seen in a movie. It has a huge array of memorable moments, and for one reason or another, I rather like the dance scene. Its well choreographed, is full of very energetic performances, but I can definitely understand why people were disgusted by that scene. But in the end, is it really enough to bring the entire movie down to unwatchable status? No, this movie is an incredible experience for any Spidey fan, just be ready for a cringe fest when emo-Peter begins showing his moves. Expand

The movie actually wasn't that terrible, in my honest opinion. I recently rewatched Spider-Man 3 (4 days ago, to be accurate), and I have to say: the movie was quite underrated...I'll give the people reading this a minute or so to wrap that around their heads............................................................okay, minute over.
Now, this would be the part where I put, "Some Spoilers Below". However, given that Spider-Man 3 came out in 2007...let's move on.
Sandman was arguably the most superlative villain in the movie. The revelation that he was actually Uncle Ben's killer was certainly an effective plot twist. I truly felt that I could relate to him as a character. Furthermore, I believe that his final scene and "death" was the most emotional section of the entire film.
Venom wasn't that badly portrayed either. I thought Topher Grace was a decent choice to play Eddie Brock (unlike a multitude of Spider-Man fans...). In addition, the Venom/Symbiote suit was also well translated from the comics into the big screen, in my opinion. Unfortunately, I found Harry Osborn to have been basically "tacked on" to the movie. The "New" Goblin's fight with Spider-Man felt utterly pointless (not to mention, he pulled 4 heel/face turns throughout the course of the movie). Other than that though, Spider-Man 3 was a good movie.
I actually found the "Emo Peter Parker" to be pretty amusing. In fact, I thought that was the best (and most daring) portrayal of Peter in the entire Sam Raimi trilogy.
So, while Spider-Man 3 (and I cannot stress this enough) is definitely NOT the greatest Spider-Man movie of all time, it is absolutely not a bad film either.

I enjoy this movie, but it does have it's problems.

The acting is good, the direction is good, the story is paced well and the action scenes are well done. I really do enjoy Harry as the goblin in my opinion as it creates a lot of tension between Peter and Harry as they are (or were) best friends. Peter and MJ finally have a romance, unlike the previous Spider Man movies and Jameson is always funny. The visuals are also great.

However, the story has so many plot points that it becomes convoluted and all of them could have been their own movie. You have the Sandman being the killer of Uncle Ben, the new goblin and his conflict with Peter and the Symbiote which creates Emo Peter, Peter breaking up with MJ, and Venom. Emo Peter was just unneeded and poorly done, instead of showing conflict with the symbiote, he appears to have a good time until he punches MJ and realized what he has done.

Venom was completely underutilized. When he showed up, he looked great, but the vast majority of the time he spoke, he was unmasked. Why? He looked great, why do we need to see Grace's face instead of VENOM? He is so far Spider Man's most anticipated villain to make an appearance on the big screen and when we got it, it was for 10 minutes. Disappointing.

Even though it's the weakest Spider Man movie, i enjoy watching Spider Man 3. I feel like it's a well made movie as it has good things like the acting, direction, action sequences and the visuals. However, because of having too many villains, the plot was convoluted and ALL of them could have made their own movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Despite all these problems, the worst-received movie, from the comics industry, was created. BUT, this film eventually matured like wine. Many of the references and ideas that Raimi smuggled into this film are really good, and as a result, with countless MCU films behind us, the film offers a far better psychological story than most MCU films. And people noticed it, and they look at the film differently. Raimi was timeless, although the filming was not the most beautiful, he took the material what he did not know quite well and managed. Yes, the film is cheesy sometimes, but in my opinion less than the first part. This movie is more of a cult from the point of memes. I love it. Expand

I really wanted to see them on the big screen. In fact I didn't like Spider-Man 2 back then because I absolutely hated Doc Oc. But this movie, damn, this was the best movie for me!

Everything people say about this movie is bad, I like those exact things. Too many plots? Good. Emo Parker? Awesome! The way Sandman was shown? I love it. There's no convincing me otherwise. The only problem I had was that Venom was a mindless beast whereas in reality he does speak normally. It was more of a lack of understanding of a character than studio meddling.

You will enjoy this movie more if you binge watch it along with the previous two movies. It seems to absolutely fit in the pieces. The character arc of Peter is also very satisfactory. It may not hold up against the other two movies of the trilogy, but it is an epic journey of Peter Parker going from being a high school nerd to becoming one of the most popular superheroes of all time. And there is no other Spider-Man movie until now that has shown this saga better.

Görsel efektler de on numara. Dövüşme kısımları, dostluğun sonradan rekabete dönüşmesi falan filmde çok güzel işlenmiş. Kısacası benim için Spider-Man 3 en iyi örümcek adam filmidir. Expand

It was my favorite film from my childhood. I was 7 years old when I watched this film, and I loved it. But, after I grew up I understood that there are some problems with this film. But, my rating is still 5/5 and 9/10. THE GOOD POINTS= The action scenes are way more than awesome and I don't think that anyone would disagree with this. The scenes like when Spider-Man saved Gwen Stacy from the top of the building, Bully Maguire moments, Harry chasing Peter at the beginning (Because that was emotional), the scene in which Spider-Man almost died if Harry didn't come there to save and help him, when Peter got the symbiote, the first fight scene between Sandman and Spider-Man as well as the subway battle scene, etc. were way more than beautiful scenes and the entire scene where Eddie Broke got the symbiote in that church was the best scene in the film. And from the film, we can remember these scenes only even after we've watched it a long time ago. And the last battle scene between Venom/Sandman and Spider-Man/Harry Osborn was way more than awesome. And the two most emotional scenes from the movie as well as the two greatest scenes from the film. When Peter forgave Sandman after knowing his story and the death of Harry and the dialogues in those scenes with the emotional background scores were way more than awesome and impactful. And, people may make memes of Tobey's crying but everyone will accept that he has the most realistic crying skills during acting. And, I noticed one thing that where Norman died attempting to kill Peter (Actually his alter ego did) there Harry died attempting to save Peter and said "None of them matters Peter, you're my friend right?" And the dialogues are also awesome like " You'll get the rent when you'll fix this damn door" The Bad Points= Both Venom and Sandman should have got more time to build their characters. I don't even understand that why Sandman was even in this film. And Venom also appeared for 30 mins only and then a great villain like him died. And who the hell kisses another girl in front of the public while your girlfriend is standing right in front of you? What Peter was thinking at that time? And Venom came into The Earth while Pete was present.. Where the hell was Peter's Spider-Sense? And due to so many things happening in the film, the movie feels rushed. But the fault is Sony. It could have been better if it came in parts like Spider-Man 3 Part 1 (2007) Spider-Man 3 Part-2 (2008) where the part 1 could have finished with Eddie Broke becoming Venom and in the second part, the characters got more time to develop and then the ending fight, death of Harry & Venom, etc. could have shown and the entire Spider-Man 3 Part 1&2 could have been epic. Though I disagree that this is a bad film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie... has a lot to it.
It may seem like a "bad" movie, rushed and confusing, but both the cast and crew faced many obstacles that make me look at this in another way.
I'm not a movie-critic (and I don't pretend to be), I'm just a comic-book reader who enjoys CB-stuff and wants to talk about them. I get it that critics look at a movie for what it is not what went behind the courtains, but I don't do that.
I really respect Sam Raimi as a director, he already proved himself more than capable in his Evil Dead franchise and Spider-Man 1/2, so when I learned that he was forced to make a movie with characters he didn't like, I was surprised.
When you look at it not as a mess of a movie, but as the efforts of a fan trying to do the best he can with a box of not-connected elments that some guy told him to do.
The premise of the movie in itself is amazing; Peter learned what responsability is, what it's weight is and now learned how to deal with it and he's living the high-point in his life. Seeing a hero who struggled two movies to be better now acting like a prick is heartbreaking, you feel how disappointed Aunt May and Mary Jane are because you are as well, but you still have faith in Peter and by the end of the movie he learns how to forgive and let go of his demons that led him to such a dark place.
Sandman is an intriguing character. He's definetly different from the comics, but I'm not concerned about that (99% of CB adaptations differ from the source material anyway), I just dislike it when the change is for the worse, which isn't the case. At first, I was against it; I always though Carradine should be the one who pulled the trigger, but now I understand Raimi's intention: revenge and forgiveness, the driving point for Peter's downfall and he's redemption, respectivelly, and that's beautiful to me. Also, Marco is the protagonist to many emotional scenes that I enjoy.
Eddie Brook is another character I didn't like at first, but after knowing that he was forced into the movie even though Raimi has no feelings for the character made everything clear. He is a good Eddie, but instead of the brute bully, he's a pathetic loser. It's a nice twist and a little more screen-time could have benefited him a lot. He's not amazing like Ock or Goblin, but he's a really effective character.
Harry Osborn. Wow. I see his arc and I love it, but the amnesia thing is clearly something Raimi came up to move the other parts foward more easily so I can forgive that. I won't go on for too long, but he's arc is one of the best in the series and I loved the end of it.
All the other characters continue to shine; the Bugle crew, Aunt May, etc are all enjoyable, but Mary Jane's character takes on another level of depth. Gwen differs A LOT from the source material and it's not a "change for the better". Liz Allen could've been a better character, but I don't know if Raimi intented her to do more, so I'll let it slide.
The ending is also beautiful, no words, just two soul-mates reconcilling and getting together.
I'm obviously a Raimi Fan but I don't shy away from this fact. You can dislike this movie or the trilogy, prefer other movies over them and I give you all the reason to do this, opinions are important and everyone should have their own and be respected for it. This is mine: These movies are peak Spider-Man, peak Marvel, peak Comic-Books. I love them.

I think those scenes are highlights, but I feel like the movie is overlong and and has too much going on. I feel like the villains should be reduced to two, and have Spider Man fight sandman and have harry osbourne by his side too. Nonetheless, it has some great moments and a great excuse for the That 70s Show star to break out as a film villain. Expand

Although I love this movie to death, I can wholeheartedly agree it has its missteps and the lost potential it could’ve have if it was done correctly. This isn’t Sam Raimi’s fault at all, as some may say it was lied forcefully into the hands of Avi Arad of how he thinks this movie should’ve played out with its villains, especially venom. Besides that, comparing this third entry to the past movies of 1 & 2, it has degraded a bit in terms of a pretty muddled plot with a lot thrown at you to focus but upon my multiple viewings I never really had a problem with it. The problem was that there was too many antagonists to begin with for Spider-Man to face, since one may’ve felt forced in, one may’ve felt rushed, this isn’t some sort of multiverse or sinister six movie anyways, the point being some didn’t have the room to breathe for character development.

Like there were some misuses when Venom (Eddie Brock) and Sandman (Flint Marco), were teaming up in this dark alley way then Venom talking in his irregular voice “I” want him dead too Flint or “I” want to kill the spider, this is a mess up since the character Venom always refers to himself as “we” in the comics, so it takes away the personality of the symbiote and also since it’s made to seem like there’s one organism when there’s technically two.

Out of all the issues I talked about, there’s still a lot of good to be had with Spider-Man 3 as I had a blast every time I watched it, including the notorious memes and the soundtrack, everyone still does their part decently.
