I went to watch it opening night anyway because I love Jim Caviezel from Frequency and think he's a great actor, plus I felt the topic matter was really important, but I'm happy to say that my fears were unfounded. The movie was very well shot and everything (except for one very short scene) look very polished and it looks like a high budget production.

The acting was expectedly good from Jim Caviezel but very unexpectedly good from the child actors. So many great movies have really terrible performances from the child actors holding them back but not in this one. Some of the acting of some of the side characters was a bit iffy, but overall it doesn't take away from the movie.

Fair warning though, don't expect this to be a feel-good movie by any measure. It deals with a very heavy topic and the movie is undeniably very hard to watch, but I still highly recommend that you watch it because it is an important message it is trying to spread. Although there were many moments in the film where people in the theater cheered and clapped.

They have free tickets you could claim from their website if you really can't pay for your ticket, a lot of us, myself included, have paid money into that program so that more people can watch this movie in theaters, so please take advantage of that if you must. But if you can, buy a ticket and pay it forward for others on their site. More people need to see this movie.

The film raises important questions about child sex trafficking and the need for action. Alex Jones right again.

Such an excellent yet terrifying movie. You'll be in tears by the end. Definitely does justice to the real life children and heroes in the film, as well as all the victims affected by this horrible industry.

You feel like you know the characters personally by the end of the movie. The slight humor placed throughout makes it less of a gloom and doom given the nature of the film, but does not take away from the seriousness of the topic. Also the part where we view a situation through the eyes of a child really gives you a sense being in her shoes for a moment.

All in all it was a great film about a huge issue impacting the world's children. Nobody wants to talk about it though. Thank you to the team that put this all together and is helping to spread awareness.

It's a movie that speaks aboutIf you're tired of all the pretend superheroes, then "The Sound of Freedom" is like a breath of fresh air. It's a movie about true heroes living in our world right now, and it doesn't shy away from tough topics. It's a movie that speaks about justice and the big fights that real people are facing every day.
Instead of burying their heads in the sand, the people who made this film chose to tackle some pretty deep issues head-on. The result? A story that feels close to home, that makes you feel all sorts of emotions and leaves a lasting impression.
The pace of the movie is just right – it keeps you hooked from the start and never lets up. It shows the drive of the main character without losing touch with the emotional punch of the story. The characters are like folks you'd meet in real life – they're fighting hard for what's right, facing their fears, and keeping on, even when things get tough. That's why we can connect with them – they're just like us.
One thing that sets "The Sound of Freedom" apart is its here-and-now approach. Unlike movies like "Schindler's List" that look back at awful things from history, "The Sound of Freedom" is about the struggles happening today. It pushes us to face up to these real-world problems, not as part of history, but as stuff happening right now. It's not about what happened once; it's about what's still going on.
"The Sound of Freedom" is more than a movie, it's like a wakeup call. It shows the harsh truths of our world and urges us to stop ignoring the suffering of children that's happening right under our noses.
The most powerful thing about "The Sound of Freedom" is that it's not just a story about a fight for justice – it's a call to everyone in the world who wants justice. And let's face it, that's all of us.
Here's the deal. We can't always trust what the mainstream movie critics say – their reviews can be biased. But take it from me, "The Sound of Freedom" isn't just a movie you watch, it's a movie you feel. Supporting it is about backing the real heroes who refuse to stay silent, who are shining a light on the darkness and waking up the world to the fight for freedom.
To sum up, "The Sound of Freedom" is a movie that sticks with you long after the credits roll. It's a story of the strength of the human spirit and a reminder that the real superheroes are those living amongst us, fighting the good fight. You don't want to miss it – it's a movie that deserves your attention.

You knew exactly how it was going to end and that took all the emotional punch out of the movie (for me anyway - however there were lot of tears from my row). I also take issue with the "special message" at the end - not to educate yourself and others but to buy movie tickets so others can see it. Why? I've seen the same subject matter handled better in other movies and TV shows. And the controversy comes from the personal politics of the lead actor and from Tim Ballard himself - not with the movie. Do yourself a favour: look it up and you'll see who they are both affiliated with (if not officially, at least on the fringes of). THAT'S why Disney wouldn't release it and why they sold it off. I was promised a scene where Hillary Clinton would sacrifice a child to the pagan gods and drink it's blood. All the media, in unison promised it. Well it didn't happen, so I want my money back!

Seriously though, the only controversy about this film, is that there is any controversy to begin with. It is just a movie about the horrors of child sex trafficking and one man's story to try and fight it, and in that, it was well done. There are no allusions to anything political, or anything linking it to weird Q-something conspiracies. When I finished the film, I thought "that was it? THAT WAS THE BIG SUPER BAD FAR RIGHT PROPAGANDA FILM?!?!?!" That the entire entertainment media came together, and collectively said it was all that, is one of the most crazy things I have ever seen from the film industry (aside from the fact there are ten Fast and Furious films). This says a lot more about them, and how politically warped they are, than it does anything about this movie.

If you want to see a heart wrenching drama about a real tragic crime going on this world, then you should see this movie. If you want to see what a real propaganda film looks like in comparison, I'm sure the Barbie movie is still playing.

I'm glad they kept it all PG-13. Nothing involving QAnon, I don't know where the media came up with that idea. Very suspense-filled, funny at times (Vampiro was a great character). I only wish that some stuff was truer to what really happened (I got my info from a history vs. Hollywood article), but it's difficult to fit all of that into a 2-hour movie. This movie is a must watch. Simply brilliant through and through.

This movie will touch topics that a lot people prefer not to think about. And although it could go for the easy traumatizing scenes and exploitation of the really tough scenes, it just shows you enough that your imagination can easily fill in the blanks.

Jim Caviezel once again delivers the performance of a lifetime. His character Tim Ballard just feels real to the bone. He's a man clearly devastated by what his job has forced to him see, forced him to ignore, but all things he clearly carries with him.
Bill Camp as Vampiro was the perfect choice to make what Ballard has to do feel real. With the two creating a duo that trying to save one life will have to save many more while trying to not lose theirs.

Overall both the actors and actresses chosen for each particular role fits on it like a glove. Each helping to build the world you're entering but also understand all facets of it. And when the movie ends you know you just saw a piece of a daily reality a lot are happy to ignore as fiction.

The movie doesn't stretches too long and has just the right pace to so you can easily keep up with everything happening. Also it's not a movie you can expect several action scenes, if anything the movie just does what is necessary, no more no less. Preferring to feel real than to feel fake, preferring to not tire the viewer by giving too much of something that wasn't really necessary.

Brilliantly done. This movie is a masterpiece that is worth the money spent to see it.
Also this movie will not disappoint, if anything it will exceed expectations. Truly a lesson on how to make a great movie.
Several directors and producers should be taking notes, seeing nothing had to be exaggerated or lied about. What the movie shows is what could very likely happen in real life.

The first half of this film offers a powerful look at this illegal operation thru the eyes of 2 children who are abducted. Cristal Aparicio & Lucás Ávila are both touchingly heart-breaking. When the story moves to Columbia, the effort takes on more of an action angle that's not as powerful. Even so, the movie's message is stronger than the craft of the filmmakers, making it more an effective and informative advocate for the cause than for the audience. BTW, this is based on the efforts a real man (Tim Ballard) and Caviezel makes an impassioned speech during the closing credits, along with a QR code with a link for others to buy tix and share the movie's important message.   Expand

It's a subject that is rarely touched on in movies, because it's so uncomfortable, but this is a must see movie to keep us aware that this is happening now. My wife said James Caviezel should get an Oscar. It was an amazing performance. He should, but the industry that thinks Cuties should be shown, but this movie which was turned down by Disney, Amazon Prime and Netflix probably won't even give him a nomination. I'll begin by saying that I am a conservative Christian who believes the Bible is the Word of God. So, that is the perspective I have in this review.

Onward...

Wow. Such an incredibly well-made and impactful movie. Very hard to watch, but also very necessary, in my opinion. The acting, pacing, music, and cinematography — all excellent. There was some language and immodesty. However, those things never felt out of place. What do I mean by that? I mean that this movie didn't draw attention to those things, they weren't the focus (aside from a brief shot of a photo of a female model in a bikini). By and large, the language and immodesty made sense in context. The bad guys used language, and the bad woman dressed immodestly. There were a few times the good guys used language. But when they did, it generally seemed appropriate for how they used it.

Kudos to Alejandro Monteverde for this stunning accomplishment. And Jim Caviezel showed his mettle in this film. He is an amazingly talented actor, one that is underappreciated (speaking from personal experience).

I will end by parroting what Jim Caviezel said in more than one interview: Watch this movie. If you are willing, able, and mature enough, see this movie. Then tell your friends to watch it.

IN A NUTSHELL:

The dramatic and heart wrenching movie is based on an incredible and true story about Tim Ballard, who quit his job at Homeland Security in order to hunt down pedaphiles and find kidnapped children who had been sold as slaves in the sex industry. What noble, dangerous, and disgusting work!
I'm not going to sugarcoat it...due to the topic, this movie is brutal to watch.
It's not mentioned in the movie anywhere, but I wanted to let you know that Tim has created an organization called Operation Underground Railroad where you can volunteer your time and talents or money to help fight child trafficking. I've been donating and participating in his volunteer projects for several years now. It is absolutely worth your consideration. While you're at it, encourage people to check out www. Angel.com/freedom for free tickets to see the movie or to gift tickets to others!
The film was directed by Alejandro Monteverde. I thought he did a great job handling a very difficult topic. He also wrote the screenplay with Rod Barr.

THINGS I LIKED:

I'm so impressed with Jim Caviezel. Not only is he a fine actor but he is an exceptional human being. He adopted three special-needs children many years ago and continues in this cause of supporting children by choosing to be in this movie that has caused him to be blacklisted in Hollywood. Tim Ballard personally requested that Jim Caviezel play him in the movie even though the producers advised against it.
The rest of the cast was also superb and included Mira Sorvino, Bill Camp, Jose Zuniga, Kurt Fuller, Eduardo Verastegui, Alanna De La Rossa, Lucas Avila and Cristal Aparicio.
While the subject matter is disturbing, haunting, and horrifying, the movie still manages to leave you with a positive feeling of hope in the end.
Hopefully, people's rightful anger about child trafficking will spur them to take action, not necessarily by doing the dangerous work that Tim Ballard does but by donating to the cause in volunteer time or money.
There's a sweet scene where a young boy gives Tim Ballard, played by Jim Caviezel, a necklace to thank him. Tim Ballard didn't want that scene in the movie because he thought people wouldn't believe it really happened, but it did!
Out of all of the movies and TV shows that Jim Caviezel has been in, he considers this film and The Passion of the Christ to be his two most important roles.
We see some horrifying, real video clips of children being grabbed by kidnappers right on the streets.
Despite the movie's sober tone, there are still some moments of humor that made the audience I watched the movie with laugh.
We get to travel to Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico.
The musical score was perfect, capturing the Latino flavor. I love the song "Sound of Freedom" by Estela Monteverde that played at the end of the film.
I really wanted to see Tim Ballard/Jim Caviezel kick bad-guy butt. Tim Ballard showed incredibly impressive self-restraint.
Keep watching after the rolling credits at the end of the movie for a special, moving message by Jim Caviezel.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:

It's really hard to watch a movie about the topic of pedophilia and human trafficking, especially when innocent children are involved.
What's crazy is that the liberal media are saying this isn't a good movie because it's connected with Q-Anon conspiracy theories. What the what? This is a TRUE story! The human trafficking numbers are REAL. Why on earth would they be on the side of scumbag pedophiles?

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

This is NOT appropriate for young children to watch; however, it IS vital that you teach your children about "Stranger Danger" and to always be aware of their surroundings.
Some profanity
Smoking
Lots of alcohol
We see people making cocaine.
A lot of Spanish is spoken and sung, sometimes with subtitles and sometimes without.
Talk of suicide
Although we don't see "the act", we know that sexual abuse is happening to children.

Based onMere days ago, I found myself watching Leni Riefenstahl's infamous Nazi propaganda movie Triumph of the Will, and while certainly this doesn't wield such blatant coercion, it undeniably carries the echoes of propaganda manipulation. Based on a true story becomes a familiar refrain when it comes to movies as we've come to realize that when narrative cravings beckon, reality's contours may bend to entertain. And if you know a bit about Tim Ballard, who beyond his propagation of Qanon's lies, the same ones spread by the demented Jim Caviezel who plays him, you'll know that he's a guy who allows his donors to participate in the raids in which they are supposedly saving victims of child trafficking, feeding of course the vigilante fantasy that his followers crave and that this same film tries to exploit as if it were a documentary.
You don't know what became of the victims or the criminals, but you know they are fighting ''evil.'' It is the rotten spawn of the egregious Pizzagate nonsense, engineered to poison feeble minds with its toxic rhetoric.
This is the kind of garbage that feeds them because this movie is basically recruitment material, just that.
Brainwashing unsuspecting morons into becoming an army of deranged cultist crusaders and gullible followers blinded by the manipulations of political puppeteers and grifters who are masters of their very thoughts and actions.

Personally, I found it an incompetent and emotionless film, but as I've always said, regardless of the topic, I will never tell anyone what they shouldn't see. It's all up to you.

The unrealistic idea of kids being swept away to different continents as party of this worldwide scheme to traffick kids is a fairytale, and too many people take this as truth.

The truth is that 95%+ of kids who are trafficked are abused by friends and family members, and likely it is happening in your own neighborhood. You hear of amber alerts when a family member loses a child to a stranger or someone they know is dangerous, but that's the minority. You won't hear the amber alert when it's an uncle/aunt/friend/parent abusing their kids, because nobody is going to report it.

The fact that this became a political movie with ignorant people saying "oh yeah libs love trafficking children" is rediculous, and this movie is only getting as much traction as it is as a result of grifting the people who think this is reality.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An excellent film, though I have to say this is probably the saddest film I've ever seen. I thought the performances were excellent, and as a film the plot had an extreme amount of tension given what was at stake and the difficulty involved. Given the realism of the film, you know how real the danger is. The heroes can't just shoot their way out. The only reason I could have for not recommending this film is that it's definitely not for the faint of heart, and I cried numerous times watching.

On a side note, I am genuinely disturbed by the media backlash to this film. Like I could understand if they didn't if they didn't like some of the acting (the quality of an actor's performance is somewhat subjective) and gave it three starts or whatever, but the amount of one star reviews is ridiculous. It's especially bad considering the same organisations (or even the same individual reviewers) gave the netflix pedo-bait "cuties" a much better review. Peter Bradshaw from the Guardian, for instance, gave Sound of Freedom one star, but "cuties" three stars, saying he recommend people watch it! It genuinely disturbs me. Sound of Freedom is basically apolitical. Tim Ballard makes a few religious references, and one of the other characters mentions how God told him to help the children. Is that really enough for them to hate this film so much?

Una gran pelicula basada en hechos reales, no dejes engañar por la critica publicista que esta compinchada con las elites.

Don’t understand the “critics” score. This movie is touching, and really good. Story is amazing and more amazing to know is a true story

It seems that Metacritic score has been dropped from "mixed and average" to "generally unfavorable". Stuff like this really boiled my blood. and makes me feel sad.
