It's not a perfect movie, but it's the perfect Sonic movie. I can't imagine what I'd change in a Sonic movie. Stay after the credits, clearly set up for a sequel. Which I'm already excited to see.

Hands down best video game movie to date. Even if you know nothing about Sonic it is still a great action comedy... action scenes were a blast and having Jim Carrey was just icing on the cake.

Bein' a Sonic fan since I was 4, I had great expectations for this movie!

yes. This is the Sonic Movie I've been waiting for 20 years!
IT'S ALL I EVER WANTED AND A LIL' MORE!!

My favorite character (Eggman/Robotnik) was portraited PERFECTLY by the always Amazin' Jim Carrey, Sonic? was lovable as ever! he had the Ego that I thought he would lack, just a Lil' subdued for his earlier years!
The extra characters made me care 'bout 'em! and this is a big thing a movie can do!
The Badniks even just bein' robots, were Masterfully designed and used throughout the movie!

The Story is not a new one by far, but it was told in a unique perspective and had a LOT of Emotion and Soul poured into it!
Some predictability is not bad now and then, and the movie used it to its advantage!

for me... 10/10, my favorite Game Movie EVER Made (thus far) Can't wait to see it again, always bringin' in someone else to experience it with me!

I really hope this does not get a Sequel, but becomes a Franchise!

Another rare case of a good video-game adaptation. I was surprised how good and funny this movie was. Nearly everyone has heard of the controversy when the first trailer was released. Nearly everyone has heard of the controversy when the first trailer was released. The CGI for Sonic looked really bad (Others used words like horrible, an abomination or a sin against humanity ;-). Now the awesome part happen. The developers / people in charge listen to the complaints and changed the appearance to the Sonic design we know. I must give them my full respect. Many others have ignored the fan backlash and failed. Here it is rewarded with the best box office for a video-game movie. Nearly everything in this movie works and the actors are amazing. Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik alone is worth watching the movie. He instantly won us over and you see the fun he had in (t)his enjoyable role. It ends not here. James Marsten has a really good chemistry with Sonic. It is like a buddy road movie. Tika Sumpter has also a great chemistry with both. These four alone would be enough for a great movie. But there is more. The story is a good vehicle to deliver the character development, excellent humor garnished with tons of Easter Eggs for fans. All jokes work here and like I said Jim Carry is unbeatable. I must also praise the soundtrack. So many good songs including Where Evil Grows (Anarchy of evil mix Dr. Robotnik;-), Don't stop me now from Queen, Speed me up (Great video) and more. I will definitely buy the soundtrack and the movie. Sega does what Nintedon’t ;-). Overall an excellent video game movie that will definitely get a sequel. Watch the post (mid?) credit scene to get hyped for it.… Expand

Definitely exceeded all of my expectations.

This movie didn't interest me at first even though I like the Sonic franchise. With the latest trailer being a huge improvement over the original one. I was somewhat optimistic but video game movieDefinitely exceeded all of my expectations.

I was somewhat optimistic but video game movie adaptations haven't always been promising but with Detective Pikachu and now Sonic The Hedgehog both being good. I'm starting to have faith that more adaptations can be done.

Jim Carrey nailed Dr. Robotnik and really drove it home with his spectacular performance. Such a character as Dr. Robotnik can be done so wrong in so many ways and yet Jim Carrey not only did the character right but he stole every scene he was in.

Overall the film is absolutely worth seeing in theaters and I look forward to any sequels that come out.… Expand

Sinopsis:

Sonic intenta navegar por las complejidades de la vida en la Tierra con su nuevo mejor amigo, un humano llamado Tom Wachowski. Pronto deben unir fuerzas para evitar que el malvado Dr. Robotnik capture a Sonic y use sus poderes para dominar el mundo.

Opinión:

El año pasado pensaba que esta película sería un desastre ya que los avances no me convencían, hoy se demostró que estuve equivocado.

Tanto el guión como la trama no son una complejidad, pero al ser una película destinada a la familia es algo que no importa. Se nota que los realizadores le pusieron cariño, dedicación y esfuerzo, porque se nota, no se da vueltas y no resulta aburrida o lenta en ningún momento.

Cada personaje tiene su carisma siendo Sonic un verdadero encanto, parlanchín como ninguno, simpático y tierno, además, su diseño está excelente. Por otro lado está Jim Carrey actuando como Jim Carrey, pero lejos de ser algo malo, es para mejor, el tipo es un crack haciendo papeles cómicos y pese a que siempre hace en ese sentido el personaje de loco de patio, cae bien y aún mantiene su esencia.

Contiene dos escenas postcreditos, siendo la segunda una pista demasiado obvia de que habrá una secuela, lo cual me encantaría.

A fun family-friendly video game movie that benefits from Ben Schwartz’s wisecracking vocal performance as the titular Blue Blur, Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik and a last minute redesign of Sonic’s model. The opening scene is well put together and explains why Sonic had to stay on Earth, it’s actually quite sad when you see it. The comedy is charming with the callbacks to Marvel movies, Star Wars, Fast and Furious and Keanu Reeves. And, the lore of Sonic they expand on the movie is actually established quite well. I think this is the second best video game movie after Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and it’s worth seeing. Also, make sure you stay for two post credits scenes, one that will make you say “I wanna see a sequel”, which my theater agreed with when they clapped in applause after it ended.

Final score: 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10.

P.S. There’s only one downside in this movie which is that we didn’t get something that I hope the get in potential sequel: Jim Carrey’s Robitnik saying “PINGAS”. … Expand

Sonic the Hedgehog. Supersonic movie! I was waiting for this film for a very long time and therefore went to it for the second time today and I think I will do it again! I took my husband and 2 sons to go and see Birds Of Prey featuring Harley Quinn and was appalled to hear homophobic slurs used throughout the movie! Luckily the Sonic Movie was screening in the next room and my family had a much better experience!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jim Carrey's Robotnik was one of my favorite parts of this movie. It felt like he truly enjoyed being on set, which made him more fun and entertaining to watch. I really like sonic in the movie, too. He just has this nice personality that I really like. However, it felt like he had a mental breakdown every 10 minutes towards the beginning of the times. Donut Lord was also fun to watch in the movie. I can't put my finger on it, but he just emits this feeling that I like.

However, Sonic flosses twice, and he **** himself. The flossing didn't bother me as much as it should have, but the fart joke was uncalled for. Also, some parts just sounded cheesy.

Overall, this movie was almost everything a Sonic fan could have wanted in a Sonic movie.… Expand

You have to go into this movie knowing its PG and targeted towards Children and as a family film, which is how I am rating it here: Myself, my wife and our 2 (almost) teenage children went to see it in theaters a couple days ago. You have to put aside the realism of how fast they can drive certain distances, get access to certain places, etc.. but its a children's movie that's enjoyable by us adults as well. The remade Sonic was amazing and having actually played Sonic on a Genesis in the 90's and several times in his modern gaming renditions since, he looked amazing in his update from the original trailer. The action, story and progression, especially of Robotnic is great fun to witness as well. Completely worth it, we will definitely purchase it when its out on Bluray to watch with the kids again when it comes out!… Expand

I don’t get why people hate this movie. It’s a family film for kids and everyone. It’s a family film for kids and everyone. The movie is awesome, great special effects, characters are relatable and funny like Jim Carrey playing is egg man is the best, Ben as sonic is awesome and everyone did amazing. The story is great, emotional and funny as we see sonic’s struggle in the human world as he has no one and is “alone, all alone, forever.” I think this is the best video game movie ever probably better than detective pikachu in my opinion. Anyway I highly request everyone to watch as paramounts did a great job. 10/10 Best film ever.… Expand

It was everything I wanted it to be. It was nostalgic, had excellent writing, it had a hyper potions song in it for christs sake! Im glad I went to see it alone because I was a sobbing wreck for half of the movie. Absolutely wonderful. IIt was everything I wanted it to be. Definitely a fun movie! I really enjoyed it, the CGI was great, good amount of humor for kids and adults, chemistry between characters was great as well. No spoilers but a sequel would be awesome and would get my money.

It has its holes, but you have to go see it without much expectation to enjoy it. It is aimed at young people, something more familiar and fanatic. I went with friends, all over 30, we enjoyed it.

Was an amazing movie, the creators listened to the fans redesigned sonic that alone deserves you supporting it, but outside that it was amazing movie that mixed Sonics world with real world without ruining either. I have to say, they did a great job at portraying him in this movie as the blue hedgehog the true fans know. His origin story is a fresh good way to start things off in the "live action" aspect since they had to add the real people. I could actually see this as becoming Canon to the video games in a sense, which brings me to my next point. Everything in the movie reflected little things within thevideo games as well. As a fan of Sonic, I would have to say that the little Easter eggs that popped into this one were very refreshing and appreciated. The team working on this did great. As for my next point, I'm giving it a 10 because the people listened to the fans and made a great movie that I believe any Sonic fan would appreciate. As far as a movie goes however, I'd have to say it's an 8. It's fun and never boring, that's for sure. It also had great funny parts to it as well. My last point I want to make is Dr robotnik. He was great and everything I would expect from him. Also, with that being said, although this is live action, I actually forgot it was not fully animated due to the actors great performances and becoming "animated" themselves. As for my review, I hope everyone takes this weekend to see it and support it due to the studio listening to it's fans. In conclusion, I enjoyed my experience thoroughly.… Expand

Subjectively (from the opinion of a fan of old games about Sonic, from the very first 8-bit title of the game): - I am extremely surprised, even shocked, how much the creators of the film were able to spoil nothing (neglect of the canon and fan base is a frequent occurrence for films based on video games). Even if we do not take into account the unprecedented case of listening_to_the_audience's_feedback regarding Sonic's design and its correction, the plot of the movie itself doesn't conflict with the canon and could even place in the universe of classic games as a prequel. There were plenty of Easter eggs in the movie, which will definitely please the old fans of the supersonic hedgehog. So, as a Sonic fan, I sincerely thank everyone who worked on this movie for not ruining my childhood and the childhood of many others, you managed to make a nice family movie with a wonderful Sonic and not offend anyone. It's worth a lot.… Expand
