Sadly worse than the first one.
Cons:
Half of the movie is made of predictable cheap gag like: Fart jokes, funny music montage (with notorious, abused, songs), dance scenes, doormat evil henchmen gag, raging girl meme ...so annoying. Pros:Sadly worse than the first one.

Pros:
Lots of Sonic 2 videogame references, good fx, Sonic & Tails & Knuckles & Robotnik have lots of screen time.

Videogame movie are becoming a thing, with good success. Saldy this isn't one of them. Watch the first one instead.… Expand

As a Sonic fan who was unable to enjoy the first one, this sequel definitely is an improvement, a small one however, Sonic as a character is simply not as a funny as the writers intend (simply spouting pop culture references is not comedy)As a Sonic fan who was unable to enjoy the first one, this sequel definitely is an improvement, a small one however, Sonic as a character is simply not as a funny as the writers intend (simply spouting pop culture references is not comedy) and neither feels as both cokcy and inspiring as the source material version of Sonic while Knuckles, Tails and Knuckles are elevated versions of their game counterparts, they feel like more tangible characters and there was a good job on adapting them to this medium while sadly, Sonic remains simply a worst version of his counterpart. This movie also released barely over 2 years after the one and it shows,the script needed more time in the oven, the pacing is very clunky and there's a point where TOO many things happen for the sake of convenience or for exposition purposes. The most definitive improvement over the first one is how the movie looks, while making these movies live action/animation hybrid instead of fully animated was definitely a mistake that holds them back, when the movie goes fully into the territory of the game's visuals it reaches its best and most exciting moments.… Expand

As an old school Sonic fan, the easter eggs is what made this movie watchable. The plot would of been ok, if only it didn't feel like it was written by a 10 year old for a 5 year old. The CGI looks like it's from the late 90's early 2000. Jim Carrey's performance is great, though sometimes he's more Jim Carrey, not enough Robotnic, making the character appear as less of a threat.

If you're a Sonic fan, you'll find something to enjoy here. Just don't set your expectations high and you might not regret wasting 2 hours of your life.

If you like cute little furry characters, flashy stuff and elaborate stories give you a headache. You'll love this movie!… Expand

Sonic 2 increases the scale and stakes from the first, allowing for more set pieces and epic action sequences, but I still mostly found myself bored and uninterested. While I do think that this film successfully accomplishes what it sets out to do, and kids will absolutely love it, it's incredibly familiar and formulaic. Weak jokes and inconsistent CGI with a bloated runtime that drags. Your enjoyment of this one will largely depend on how much you enjoyed the first instalment; personally, I thought this was a step down from the already mediocre first.… Expand

+Very funny Idris Elba deliveries as Knuckles

Overall, I liked this movie. 6/10, light 7. They did Sonic, Knuckles and Tails PERFECT. I LOVED Jim Carrey as Eggman, again. Except for some super cringe parts he did. Except for some super cringe parts he did. But there were many parts that took me entirely out of the movie. No spoilers, but there was a specific wedding scene that was completely unnecessary. It was so pointless. It turned into a rom-com in the middle of the movie. I just don't understand why there needed to be a random love interest, let alone 2 humans that have nothing to do with Sonic. Also, the whole parent thing with Tom, Maddie and Sonic was, in my opinion, super unneeded. I wanted Sonic and Tails and Knuckles. Show me more, in-depth, of Sonic and Tails' friendship. There were some other super cringe scenes that I didn't enjoy and 2 pointless characters, but the 3rd act was amazing. Made me enjoy it even more. Children will definitely enjoy it. I am still looking forward to a 3rd Sonic movie. I hope they focus more on Sonic and his world/friends rather than humans. I don't care about humans anymore.… Expand

Stupid picture. I am not the target audience of this film and therefore the movie is too childish and stupid for me. A lot of meaningless scenes. But the action is very good.

Ich mag das Franchise Sonic an und für sich, aber wie zuletzt auch die Spiele können mich die Filme nicht ganz so überzeugen. Mir ist das alles zu albern. Das ist aber wahrscheinlich halt auch Geschmackssache.
