I generally like these kinds of movies. I'm not a fan of violent movies or horror or the junk that's out there now. But, this movie is a loser. The stereotypes and the dialogue are laughable. The film adaptation of a Broadway bomb that closed in just a few weeks. BUT and it's a big BUT! What a surprise SIX DANCE LESSONS is. Yes it is contrived. Yes it has an awful trailer that will totally turn you off, but the film itself has moments of such unsentimental insights and truth that it kind of blew me away. Rowlands and Jackson have a great rapport but it is the honesty and directness of Rowlands that makes this film quite wonderful. As we all should know, Gena Rowlands is an actress of such reach and directness that acting is not what one can call this. It is so far beyond. Expand

Wonderful film that was adapted in 2014 from a 2001 play. Gena Rowlands from The Notebook is so expressive even though it appears that she has had a stroke. Gena Rowlands from The Notebook is so expressive even though it appears that she has had a stroke. There are women everywhere in this film which is so unusual even in this era of awareness that everyone needs to see women on screen. Highly recommend and can only imagine the reason for the low score review is that 20-something males are doing the reviews! This is a true love story between a straight, old woman and a young, gay man!!! Expand
