This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, i couldn't agree more, that this movie is way too long. Drama? Hahahaha, you must be kidding. I was really disappointed, I've wasted 2 hours of my precious lifetime to watch that pathetic movie. I watched this movie just because everyone was saying ''oooh, a great movie, you must see it''. Anything happens. Expand

Seven Pounds is a ton of crap.
It begins at the end, ends at the end, and the middle is just everything they left out in between. An absolutely horrible screenplay, the acting doesn't save it, and it's really a wretchedly boring film.

Seven Pounds

Seven Pounds is a character driven drama about a guy aspiring to help seven strangers, finds himself stuck in his past. Such premise that divides itself into various acts often falls apart vigorously and if taken care with such mannerism, it almost questions its existence as it fails to stand on its self-created weak surface. This is a typical style over substance case, and unfortunately its style is to take things slowly and reminiscence in its pathos ideology with an artsy camera work to make it look more valuable. The last thing that this feature needed is the first and the foremost things that shucks away its credibility and it is the flawed script that makes less and less sense as it ages, since it skips few steps while mending the sequences. The background score is decently scored, the cinematography is daft, the editing is amatuer and the camera work is redundantly busy and handled manually in order to give the personal touch to the viewers. Smith is the only reason to survive this blunder, his looks are impactful and his eyes convey poems but even a performance like such could never save this sinking ship. This ill formed structure is equally to be blamed as the premise where the heart may be at the right place but that is never enough to attain a closure out of all these hokum formulas. The narration by Nieporte is unappealing and incongruent to its tone, to a point that even Muccino's execution couldn't save this forsaken and untouched land that this tale resides on. It overcooks its potential substance and overrides the emotions until it grows numb, its fabrication is pointless and inessential to the gist itself.

Seven Pounds costs more than that it accounts for, to the makers, actors and the viewers.

Really: If a man were that shattered about a car accident he caused, and hated himself that much (enough to torture himself with bone marrow donation without anesthetic, and suicide by one of the most agonizing ways to die), why would he also feel that he had the moral authority to determine who "deserves" his body parts? Flawed and a little icky. I felt like I'd watched some kind of snuff porn. Blech. Also: does anyone actually think Rosario Dawson is any good? She's a blank slate in everything I see her in. Pretty, yes. Pretty boring! Expand

Manipulative uber-drama that would play better as an arc from a TV series. Is it supposed to be a surprise ending? If so why do they reveal it 5 minutes into the movie?

No crdibility, contrived plot, terrible acting, stilted dialogue. Will Smith had 2 forms of acting in this: worried brow and fake smile.

Pretty bad. Why does Will Smith pick such terrible scripts? This might be the worst yet.

This movie was a pathetic attempt to engage your sympathies as you watched a disjointed rendition of a woeful tale about a man who wants to give up 7 pounds of his toxically poisoned flesh to deserving recipients. What a load of BS!

Will is the silver screens Golden Boy as he is a money maker who can do no wrong. One more turkey like this and he can kiss his image goodbye. Just dreadful. Hancock was bad but this is ten times worse. Who is selecting his films?

I think all the high ratings are from Will Smith family members haha, what a crappy movie. How many people could have been fed with his 20 million dollar paycheck? Ahh...the horror of it all.

This movie is a piece of cinematic crap. Its funny to see Will Smith is "serious actor mode" acting like he's getting an oscar. Haha. This movie is just absurd and so stupid. DO NOT see this movie, it will be a big waste of your time and money.

This movie starts with a suicide, then slowly tells the story of what happened leading up to that. If that's your sort of story, enjoy. If you're depressed or you want to avoid getting depressed, avoid this movie.

I can't help but wonder

I can't help but wonder how many people actually committed suicide after watching this movie.
