With its obligatory plot points, character arcs, and forced resolution, the narrative's demands tax Cross and Odenkirk's sensibility by limiting their freedom of movement. Yet even in its current bastardized form, the film still flickers with moments of great inspiration and vitality, providing isolated hints at the groundbreaking comedy that might have been.

What began as a sketch movie ended up like a slightly better than average "SNL" flick, though Odenkirk, Cross and a number of famous and semi-famous friends do get some chuckles out of their story of Ronnie Dobbs, compulsive troublemaker. [16 Sep 2003, p.C3]
Yet another feature comedy that began life as a TV show sketch and is still stuck in infancy (not to mention infantilism), "Run Ronnie Run!" has about 10 minutes of sharp, funny satire to its name before running out of laughs. [15 Jan 2002]
