This movie is absolutely awful. Just like any other resident evil live action movie. It deviates from the original story that we know about the game, but rather than creating a better story, they create one thats terrible, Its like someone tried to write the story of resident evil based on what someone told him about it 10 years ago, and even worse someone had the idiotic idea of cramming the events of both RE 1 and RE2 in one movie which emded up ruining both stories and making an overstuffed cheap moviebwith bad dialogue and even worse character origins which you see literally in the opening minutes. .The goofiness they gave to Leon's character was way over the top, and the CGI looked true to the originalin 1998 because they had the same quality. The only thing that the movie got right is the locations as the RPD and Spencer mansion looked great. Sadly resident evil should stick to making games and never have a resident evil movie again. All and all though am glad there's no Alice this time… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People who are rating this 10 have to be bought or have very low standards for movies. This movie is far from perfect, and I'm basing my score on what's left after I dock a point for every one of my gripes. The casting is just flat-out terrible. They race swapped Leon and Jill, and also felt the need to turn Leon into an incompetent fool who doesn't even know how to use a simple pump-action shotgun but not even an hour later (their time) he figures out a complex rocket launcher? Claire looks more like a soccer mom than a young woman, and it pains me to say that cause I liked the actress who plays her in Crawl.

Now let's move onto the plot. There was talk this was a faithful adaption? HAH. Chris and Claire were not orphans, Birkin was not a father-figure for Chris, and Lisa Trevor was not some creeper who lurked the halls of the orphanage like some kind of monstrous ninja. Wesker was also not one of the worst, double-crossing "spies" I have ever seen. In the games, he's cold, calculating, knows good and well what he's doing. In this movie, he's far from that. He's unsure what he's doing or even WHY he's doing it. It feels like he just found a phone in his locker one day with messages telling him to do things and he never asked questions, just does them without question. Mentioning him brings up one of my biggest gripes... WHERE WAS BARRY?!?! He was/is one of the most loved characters, and to anyone who claims he's not, I invite you to look into RE: Revelations 2.

I left one star because despite the cringe fluff they put in like the trucker who wrecks after being infected grabbing on Claire (who never met in the game...she rode into town on her own motorcycle...but yeah, faithful adaption, right?)...I actually liked the set up until SHTF. It was kinda creepy and you have a feeling of anticipation for what's about to come. That said, once things start rolling, it becomes a convoluted mess. Why? Because they are trying to cram not one, not two, but THREE games into one movie. That reminds me...none of the settings really worked for me. The mansion felt like it was a couple of rooms and that's it...not an actual mansion. The police station felt the same, as did the lab. Even the final act felt like it was just two groups from different games bumping into each other and going "Oh, hey, you're here too! Cool, let's escape!" I honestly feel this movie might've been better if they had just focused on the first game, put more characters we know and love and watch them grow and face the horrors together.

All in all, this movie was a failure in both entertainment and financial success. As much as people spit at the Paul Anderson movies, at least they made good money Every. Single. Time. This movie will be lucky if it gets a sequel, and even if it does, I'm sure it'll be another movie most people sleep on or just downright ignore. If you have a Redbox in your area, rent it...I don't recommend buying until you see it first or you'll run the risk of getting something you regret purchasing later.… Expand

Спасает только Кая Скоделарио (Клэр Редфилд), по моему мнению только она серьезно отнеслась к данной роли, больше никто! Со всем не смешной юмор, персонажи не каноничны, глупы, наблюдать за ними со всем не хочется, сюжет, а сюжет просто списан с игр, но ладно если бы это была хорошая экранизация, но это просто шлак. Оценка 2 и то только потому что я пил пиво, и провел не плохо время в приятной компании с близким человеком.… Expand

Woof! Not good! They did have some very well done set design, but everything else was terrible. Filme muito ruim, roteiro fraco, direção, tudo horrível, descaracterizaram os personagens tanto na personalidade quanto na parte física, uma das piores coisas que já vi, e olha que Resident Evil produz muita coisa ruim! Lamentável

Кто то что то ожидал хорошего от фильма по игре? На индуса Леона смотреть больно, остальные персонажи более менее терпимы, Леон вместо новичка - стал терпилой-посмешищем над которым угарают все кому не лень.

The sad part is that there was hope here before the release. Between the low budget, terrible pacing(they literally tried to cram the story of the first two games into one film), bad CGI, poor acting, miscasting, turning certain characters into goofballs, ugh...

There's rumors they're trying to make RE4 movie. I hope they get the point and they don't go through with it. But I know Screen Gems and Constantin are only out for money, and don't care about producing art. Terrible.… Expand
