To see and see again simply by the fact that changing your mind does not always mean "going back" (the memory of a ratatouille that brings back childhood for the "critic") sometimes it also makes progress (today it's no longer the same person who makes it, but is it really a person?) To be hard or simply a demolisher is worth it when we can all succeed smoothly? If your dream is to become a cook then do it and it does not matter your dream .. Magical and Beautiful!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What can I say more? Ratatouille is playful cinema at its best, boasting with terrific voice-over performances, especially how Peter O'Toole invested his charismatic voice into the cold, bitter Anton Ego. I watched Ratatouille once when I was 8, and after another 7 years, this move still had this awe to it. It is on surface a rather simple story, but the content was so infused with the wit of asking us, the audiences, questions. The dynamics between Remy and Linguini were at first not quite right. They are both people who struggles to gain identity, one as a rat, and one as a young man who has limited talents for cooking. They connect together because they both can find something they need to survive. Therefore, Remy gained an identity, and Linguini became a big shot in the French culinary circle. The price of fame became crystal clear that none of them wanted this. They don't need to pretend as other people to feel better of themselves, and this exploration of their own personal identities, were handled with much sophistication. Anton Ego's self-revelation of how he would defend the new, was probably one of the best speeches from Pixar movies. All the characters of this movie were well thought, Anton Ego and Skinner could have been a boring villain, but Brad Bird made them feel like real people. They all have their struggles, but Ratatouille, will all the beautiful music composed by Michael Giacchino, still remains one of the greatest animated movies of all time. Expand

In order to do so, he decides to ally with a young but incompetent cook. Directed by Jan Pinkava and Brad Bird, which also provides the script, it has voice actors like Brad Garrett, Peter O'Toole and Patton Oswalt.

This film is good, but it would have never been able to stand out without its adorable protagonist. The script works well, but is more complex than usual in children's films, which makes it more appealing to older audiences (from nine or ten years). The voice actors are good and have done a work without errors, as well as the animators, who filled with realism each scene. Designed for fun, it doesn't seek to convey great moral maxims and has scenes able to get the audience to tears of laughter. The soundtrack fulfills her role without stand out.

Fun in the ideal measure, a little more adult than usual, original and captivating, this film will probably stay in the memory for having one of the most visually lovable characters of modern animated films.

This one is a silly kids' film lacking any real sense of pathos. The main character hardly even dwells on the death of his entire community before he gets excited about working in a restaurant. Meanwhile, the main human is almost totally devoid of any personality, and the main female human (who personality is Strawman Feminist) is inexplicably in love with him.

The little things are better than the whole: the visualization of taste, the gloomy critic.

I honestly wonder if this did so well among the critics because this movie ends by demeaning critics who write negative reviews.

Incredible
Remember how everyone was talking about Toy Story when it first came out? The incredible visuals, unique style, vividly imagined world? The next time people were talking that way with such enthusiasm about a computer animated movie was Finding Nemo. I'm excited to say that Ratatouille will be the next one to redefine the visual creativity and technical detail of computer animated movies. Honest to goodness, I was awestruck by the animation, and that never happens to me. It is a visual masterpiece of a movie if ever the term applies.

The next thing to talk about is the "genre" of the movie. As Pixar enthusiasts will tell you, Brad Bird, the director of Ratatouille, also directed The Incredibles, which has the most inspired and creative action sequences from any of the Pixar movies. Ratatouille, while not so straightforward with its action, has almost as much as The Incredibles did, in unique ways. Most memorable is the shotgun scene near the beginning. (You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it). Other than that, this is the expected comedy-with-heart movie from Pixar that so many have grown to love.

The voice acting? Spot on. Every voice is distinctive, and it never feels like a celebrity's voice tacked on to a character (Shrek, I'm looking at you), it feels like the characters themselves speaking. You can't ask for more from voice acting.

And finally, the script and the story. The entire irony of the story -- a street rat with a passion for fine food -- is beautiful, and a tight, smart, wonderful script flows from this. The pacing of the story is odd and choppy at places, but this is a very forgivable grievance. The only other minor fault is that a few of the dramatic one-liners feel a bit forced. Other than that, this is the most layered, complex, and satisfying script from Pixar since The Incredibles.

Overall, I recommend that everyone see this movie when it hits theaters (I was lucky enough to see a pre-release screening). Though not perfect, it is an animated masterpiece in true Pixar form with breathtaking animation and visual design.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A ost é igualmente bonita.

Some of my favourite films are animated as they can get the balance perfect between kid's enjoyment and adult enjoyment. Ratatouille breaks this rule yet still is my favourite Pixar film to date. It feels a lot more like an adult film than any other of Pixar's work. We very rarely see human characters act in everyday life and using terminology that they would use in their specific jobs in an animated film. While yes, it does feature a talking rat, it feels real with the restaurant atmosphere, the dialogue and the pacing to make an awe-inspiring experience. I do not need to talk about the animation as we know Pixar so therefore, it's going to look gorgeous. However, many of the film's strengths are its story and characters. While Remmy and Linguine are fine, Anton Ego is truly a masterful personification of a critic and his monologue in the end is so brilliant, that I learnt it off by heart. Ratatouille is one of the most underrated films ever made and I wish people re-watched it and experience a film, which is in my top 10 favourite films ever made. 10/10- Stolow Expand

Bonjour! This is seriously one of the best Pixar films ever, let's review this. Shall we?

The story is pretty great and simple, it's about a Remy, a rat, dreaming to become a chef, but with a stroke of luck and lots of courage, he sees the opportunity to pursue it with the help of garbage boy Linguini. The visuals are really stunning, and the music is memorable and it brilliantly catches the theme of France. In the movie, the food looked so appetizing and the way how they cooked it, it definitely makes you hungry. While not focused too much on humor, this movie is really worth watching.

This movie is a culinary experience worth watching, from good characters to dramatic emotions shown in the movie, this is really one of the best Pixar films out there, backed up with superb vibrant visuals that really matches the theme of France. Hmm... The score for this is... 9.5 (9).

As we hear several times in the film, everyone can cook, the same goes for other activities. You can't stop pursuing your hobby just because people around you don't like it. Just follow your goal. Yeah, it's strange, but surprisingly this movie works very well, and I love it. Ratatouille is another charming PIXAR film with more great characters, a fun concept, and incredible dialogue with really funny and emotional moments. This movie never feels dull and is surprisingly entertaining for a movie about rats. It's impossible not to get hungry while watching this movie because the food and everything else is animated beautifully. Comparing the animation of the humans in this movie and the Incredibles is funny but crazy because of the number of improvements in just a few years. Personally, the score for this movie is what I feel is Giacchino's best. The Incredibles' score may be more flashy but I love this score more than any of his others. Ratatouille is another great family film from PIXAR and is often overlooked. Go check this one out or rewatch it, you'll be happy you did. Expand

We risk little and have power over those who offer their work and service in our judgment. We thrive on negative reviews that are fun to write and read. But the sad truth that we must face is that in the great order of things, any garbage has more meaning than what our criticism reveals.
But sometimes the critic does take a risk every time he discovers and defends something new. The world is often cruel to new talent. The new creations, the new, need friends. Last night, I experienced something new. An extraordinary dinner from a unique and unexpected source. To say only that food and its creator have challenged my prejudices about good cooking would underestimate reality. They have touched me to the core.
In the past, I have never hidden my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto: "Anyone can cook." But finally, I realize what he really meant: Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.
It is difficult to imagine a more humble origin than that of the genius who now cooks at the Gusteau Restaurant and who, in the opinion of this critic, is nothing less than the best Chef in France. Soon I will return to the Gusteau Restaurant, hungry

The hero is a gray rat with a gift for cooking. The villain of the piece is a food critic whose pen and sarcasm are his only weapons. This bears repeating: the ultimate conflict in this movie concerns a rat that cooks and a snooty gourmand, AND IT WORKS. What production companies can pull this off? Perhaps only Pixar. That said, this movie may not be for everyone. If you like predictability and mediocre pop tunes in your animation films, and if you don't mind variability in the quality of production, then by all means rent The Lion King instead. If you want to see a remarkable production from storytellers who elevate simplicity to elegance, than Ratatouille may be the movie for you. Expand

It could have been a run-of-the mill and cliched "believe in yourself" story, and while it is a "believe in yourself" movie, it's done in a never-before seen way. It's simply stunning, as well. I loved, loved, loved Peter O'toole's character (it basically screams 'Tim Burton' at times) as well as Brad Garret's character. They're like opposites and they're part of the reason this movie is so entertaining. But it wouldn't be the same with Remy, Linguini, or Skinner. Their characters are so key and preposterously lovable (yes, I thought Skinner was a lovable character, sue me). They're so full of life that they keep this bloat floating. Touche, once again, Pixar. Touche. (P.S. Anybody else pumped about Wall-E?) Expand

Surely, there are the make-believe messages that may have seemed far-fetched in reality but totally in line with the objectives of Disney pictures, such as how the whole clan of rats (starring Remy's brother and father, who lack taste in food, or trust in humans--initially) creates a beautiful meal towards the end, or the worn out ideals of pursuing one's dreams as long as one invests passion (Gusteau says, "Everyone can cook"), or even just how Linguini can communicate with Remy; or, consider the ludicrous images of American cross-culturalism in a French context (the kitchen staff is all mixed with people of different backgrounds or ethnicities), and of all the French English accent. Yet, this film works because it opens one's eyes to the beauty of creativity and, to me personally, because it succeeds in bringing forward inspiring thoughts on the issue of criticism. In many ways, Anton Ego, the critic with a big ego, mirrors myself. A long, emanciated face and a menacing voice, his critique is sharp and pungent, making his opinion effective to the extent that it filters out the nonsense; his acute taste, while working to the advantage of offering judgments, hinders him in being open and positive about that which he is evaluating. When asked by Linguini why a critic who likes food looks so skinny, he says dogmatically, "I don't like food, I love food. If it's food that I don't love, I don't swallow it". The question is, what kind of a love for food is this? What does he love? How much is he appreciating food for food itself, or aware of the value of that which he chooses to spit out and grimace about? What is key is that there is an implicit downside in the nature of criticism if its focus is primarily on digging out the negative sides of the subject matter. After savoring the beautifully crafted ratatouille sensation that Remy and his clan put together, served by Linguini the cook/ waiter on wheels, he reevaluates his criteria for critique; after the unfortunate termination of the restaurant's business due to its unhygienic conditions (N.B. the rats), his credibility is damaged, but he is seen in Linguini's new bistro, enjoying the famed ratatouille, his occupation as a critic something of the past and the mean look of criticism gone from his face. Just as how his face lit up in childhood reminiscence of his mother's ratatouille when he first tastes Remy's creation, now he is rid of the need to be faultfinding, is broadening his love for food and, in that way, is closer to it. The phenomenal human touch at the end of this film touches me to open up myself, and reminds me that the critical taste of an individual comes not only with the act of opting for what is good, but also with embracing what may have seemed bad. To reject something when it does not seem good enough ("If it's food that I don't love, I don't swallow it") ruins the prospects of discovering something better to come, because that negative energy fails to give due credit to anything and alienates one from that which one professes to love. Note: Ratatouille is a vegetable dish from southen France, made out of eggplants, onions, garlic, green peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, with a variety of spices, simmered in olive oil. Have got to try this dish, and this film has got to be seen. Expand

There were no real surprises in the plot (the trailers give you pretty much all the clues you need about the major themes), and not nearly as much subtle humor as in, say, Monsters Inc. or Toy Story. What I mean by that is that Pixar's movies tend to really be two movies in parallel: one for kids made of colorful, funny, interesting characters following relatively simple plot lines; and one which only comes out through the dialogue, for parents who brought the kids (or kidless adults). Ratatouille had plenty of the former, little of the latter. Still, a good movie and worth seeing. Expand
