Sandra Bullock did her best with what she was given, which wasn't that great. The plot was convoluted and the lack of chemistry between her and her on-screen husband added to it's blandness. Bullock's performance made you care enough about her character to watch the whole movie, but the marital relationship was never established as one you want to root for in the end. Quite frankly, you spend a lot of the movie wondering ( from the plot points to all the characters' behavior), "what?!, I don't get it- that makes no sense!", and by the end, you are watching just to see how they (hopefully) do make sense out of it all. Which, unfortunately, they don't. What could have been a great avenue for telling a compelling story with an equally compelling life lesson, gets lost in the midst of muddy story telling. Expand

The plot is based on an abnormal time phenomenon in which Linda Hanson (the main character, played by Sandra Bullock) lives a week with the days out of order (Monday, then Thursday, then Tuesday, got the idea ?). If this sounds crazy, believe me, the character will seem even more lost than we are. To make matters worse, this week her husband's death happens and she spends her days trying to avoid it. I will not lie: the film seems confusing but its not so much because we will understand everything as the action takes place, but it never explains the reason and the means by time got so distorted, and that makes things a bit pointless. Sandra Bullock is very good and did what we expecting from her, but she carries the film on her own because the rest of the cast is pretty poor and gives her little support. So, what we have in the end is a film that oscillates between the supernatural and the sci-fi, with an unclear theme, a good love story and some creative drama, brightened by a single good and competent actress. Nothing here to diminish Bullock's competence as an actress, but if one can see the future as past events, one must conclude here that those who learn from the past are also doomed to repeat it. There are so many holes in how the hole "time travel" thing works that it is a huge impediment to enjoying the movie. I can't count the number of times I said, "That doesn't make any sense". I genuinely wanted to know what happens at the end, but by the time we get there, I was so angy by the contrived, ridiculous ending that defies all logic. I hate when movies manipulate you and have characters that do things that no one with a brain would EVER do just to further their plot. I give it a 5 because it kept my attention till the end, and overall it is well made and shot, with a somewhat poignant and well-meaning epilogue. However, what should have been very touching is robbed of warm feelings, because I was so frustrated by this movie. It helps that I didn't pay any money to see it, otherwise, I probably would have rated it lower. Expand

It redeems itself by its thrilling beginning, and occasional scares, taste for classy horror shots, but loses it in the crappy end and plethora of plot holes. Soso, not a fun watch nor a happy or fulfilling ending!!! Ech, made me kind of sick... Expand

Actually, I rate this movie more like 6.2/10. This movie wasn't half as bad as major critics claimed! Sure there are flaws; acting is a bit poor, plot incoherent, but overall it's aiight for cheap Tuesdays

Thank you Chad S. for pointing out that she doesn't actually have premonitions - she just bounces around in time without much explanation, much as Ashton Kutcher did in Butterfly Effect. I suspect the studio branded the title on the film out of desperation just to explain it. At any rate, yes a terrible film. All of it wouldn't be so bad if I cared about the husband or even Bullock's character, but, nope. We have seen these characters before and seen this concept done much better. Expand

Not a good movie. If you've seen the previews, you won't be surprised for a moment by any part of the story. If you've seen the previews, you won't be surprised for a moment by any part of the story. Depending on your opinion of Sandra Bullock's acting abilities, you may or may not be surprised by the lack of believability her character offers, both in her actions, and in Bullock's rather pathetic performance. She really doesn't seem to care whether her husband lives or dies. After about 30 minutes, it becomes clear that the story isn't going anywhere surprising, and that the movie's only chance to redeem itself will be its ending. Sadly, the writers couldn't think of anything interesting for that either. I found myself screaming at the characters to change their actions as they approached the very predictable, unbelievably boring ending. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is quite claustrophobic and seems somewhat confused, both using some disturbing/semi scary scenes, as well as including some comforting parts, like where Linda talks to a local priest, played by Jude Ciccolella (for 24 fans, you'll recognise him as having played Mike Novick on the show) looking for help as she tries to work out a way to change what she knows the future has in store. Its a rather dark film, which has themes about belief and hope as well as destiny and of course the question of whether its possible to change somebody elses' fate. I won't give away the end of the movie but personally I felt somewhat cheated and dismayed by the ending, it felt like the movie was working up towards perhaps a Sixth Sense type of sudden unseen twist ending... its that sort of movie, but yet it doesn't deliver that way. You can't help but feel during the movie that there's more to it than there ends up being, maybe I was a bit naive in that way but thats certainly how I felt. It seems as if its trying to teach the audience something but I'm not sure that I really walked away having felt like I properly understood it or learnt anything really, I don't think it works properly. There are some creepy/scary scenes but the movie itself isn't too horror-based, its rated 12 for containing one use of strong language and moderately distressing scenes, which is about right I feel, the scenes I mention are fairly distressing. This is a pretty dark movie, that tries to explore the issues previously mentioned (belief, hope (to some extent, or desperation I suppose), destiny and fate), sometimes seemingly in a slightly childish way and in other parts of the movie in a more adult, mature way but personally I found it confusing, it couldn't seem to decide whether it was a movie about faith, fate and belief or more of a cheaper psychological thriller. I guess its both really but it just didn't seem to work for me. I'd say if you like movies like Sixth Sense and possibly Unbreakable then this is somewhat similar. It works alright as a basic psychological thriller but it really lets itself down by the somewhat anti climatic ending, which I felt was a let down. Expand
