Overall Pocahantas is an ok. It barely passes. The characters for the most part are not that interesting. The film lacks originality. The story has flaws. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another highly recommended Disney family movie! Pocahontas was amazing till the end. I mean, in Lion King 2 (Simba's pride) the battle between the two clans has stopped after a while. In Pocahontas it didn't even start! I was expecting some action at the end! So the only thing i didn't like was, that it ended too easy. But my final score is 6/10 … Expand

Pocahontas does not feel like a Disney movie. The animation is some of the worst I've seen in a Disney movie and the story is bland and follows very stupid source material and themes that I can't stand. The message was also not very good, itPocahontas does not feel like a Disney movie. The message was also not very good, it felt cliche and unoriginal. The only thing I liked about this film was probably the music. I am pretty baffled that this film was considered "Disney's Main Project" at the time while The Lion King was considered like a "B project" or a "side project" that was just not as important. I would probably not recommend watching this film.… Expand

Disney's short list of mediocre films has this titled in bold and capitals. Raising the issues of diversity and equality, the concept of the film is morally on mark but the narration is far from target. Along with such political and social messages, it also explores the innocence of the nature which is weaved out smoothly with the script. But this is where the wheel of this plethora of various genre gets stuck. The tale never outgrows beyond its concept, from the first frame, the anticipated trajectory is mapped out, which is exactly where the track directs towards. There is no surprise, no fresh perspective nor any new layer of screenplay disclosed for the gravitas.

As usual, the film is visually stunning along with catchy songs like "Colors Of The Wind" and "Mine, Mine, Mine". And as much as beautiful the songs are, the musical act or choreography is arguably dull. Another trademark Disney tactic, is to blend in pets as a sidekick that offers a light yet smart tricks and humor to the plot. The voice cast lives up to their role with Gibson and Bedard as the lead couple marks their signature. Bale gets few stand alone moments but that too is overshadowed by Gibson's character.

Aforementioned, one of the best bits of the feature is the makers narrating the actual intentions through sidekicks, like the pets and the wise old tree, the conversations among them is the highlight of it. Consistently, where the film keeps failing, is how the writers are building up the sequence, not only is it done with old cheesy methods but it also makes you uncomfortable to encounter it. Pocahontas may attempt to raise the bar for the mature audience, but all it has to settle for is be the dream among its younger audience.… Expand

Like the famous song "Colors of The Wind", its color design is amazing, and enjoyed till the end. However, I can say that it wasn't perfect when it comes to ending, other characters, and plot.

This movie was fine and my low score compared to other Disney works has nothing to do with its politics. I just felt it wasn't as iconic as other cel-shaded works from the period and never felt myself drawn to it as a teenager. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pocahontas si bien no la considero un clásico de Disney entiendo a la gente que le encanta. Es muy bella y con una trama decente dentro de todo. Siento que forzaron bastante el romance entre Pocahontas y John sintiéndose mas un amor a primera vista sin muchos conflictos, ademas de que muchas escenas de la película se justifican en base a las "creencias de la tribu", sin embargo, esto termina siendo usado de manera sobreexplotada para justificar sucesos sin meterles mucho empeño en los mismos, como al final de la película cuando detienen la pelea solo porque sopla un viento en la cara de todos. Tiene escenas forzadas o que podrían haber sido mas explotadas, pero al final de cuentas es una buena pelicula.… Expand
