Those familiar with Shia LaBeouf's work know that he takes himself very seriously, perhaps even excessively so, and while this quality may not appeal to everyone, his work offers a sense of complexity and experience that acts as a galvanizing force to see this film through to the end.

In conclusion, Padre Pio is a well-made film, but it falls short of being captivating. While it depicts a captivating chronicle, it lacks emotional depth and fails to provoke meaningful reflection after its completion that might give way to creating a lasting impression. However, the credentials of its director and lead actor are more than enough incentive for non-conventional filmgoers to take an interest in it.… Expand
