From the very beginning, it has you hooked and does not let go until the end. George Clooney is great in the lead role as expected. Jennifer Lopez, who I had never seen act before, also does a good job at doing what she does best; being sexy. Her acting is also good. Ving Rhames and Don Cheadle also have very good supporting turns here. I am not a huge fan of Steven Soderbergh usually, but he does very well here in the director's chair and manages to craft a very entertaining romantic crime film and make the romance feel authentic and the crime element thrilling and exciting. In addition, the comedy element was good. It was not gut busting laugh after gut busting laugh, but it was used sparingly and effectively to lighten up the mood. Overall, Out of Sight is a good, entertaining film that feels like more than your regular old heist film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Judging by the star ratings given by other people on this site, im left wondering if I somehow didn't quite *get* this movie. Overall I wasn't really impressed at all. Anyway all I can say really are my own thoughts and opinions having seen the movie and thats what I'll cover.

To start with, I felt that there was alot of dialogue in this movie but there wasn't all that much action or particularly dramatic scenes, to keep the viewer interested. I thought that the story moved really quite slowly with not much plot progression. I felt that this was a bland movie that lost my attention after about the first half hour or so, although George Clooney does alright as the wise talking criminal and Jennifer Lopez as the agent, I felt that there wasn't really enough to the story to keep me interested enough to make me feel particularly connected to, or interested in, the characters and if you don't particularly care, or are interested in, the characters, then really whats the point?

Sure the movie has a decent enough cast list, George and Jennifer do alright in their roles but just because of the actors and actresses present, I don't feel it was enough to really make this a particularly good movie. I know I say that there isn't much action (or certainly not in the mid part of the movie) and im aware that its not marketed specifically as an action movie, so perhaps you think that its not fair of me to state this as a criticism but I still feel that there has to be more to back up such a movie. If the story had a bit more 'juice' to keep me interested, I quite possibly would have paid more attention and not started wondering how long was left before it would finish (I could have switched it off after an hour or so but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to see it through to the end lol) but that wasn't the case. It is fair to say that, somewhat in the movies defence, the pace does hot up near the end of the movie as Foley tries to rescue his friend Midge at the end of a robbery gone bad situation but I really did feel like I had lost interest in it by the time this happened.

I'm sure some people will enjoy this, im thinking mainly George Clooney and/or Jennifer Lopez fans and fans of perhaps crime romance movies, if such a genre exists(?), maybe its bad of me to not be so interested in movies that rely alot on long winded dialogue and I like to see more visual elements to keep my interest but I think this isn't always the case, I like some dark comedy movies that don't feature much action but this just didn't seem to catch my interest much at all. I can't help but feel like this had more potential in it but it wasn't fully realised and that was a disappointment in my eyes.

Personally I wouldn't recommend this movie. To me, the story was a bit weak and slightly confusing in the middle and I didn't particularly feel a connection to, or interest in, either of the two main characters. There isn't a great deal of action and it just seems too plain, it actually struck me as more of a TV movie than a big Hollywood movie to be honest, though I know its ten years old but all the same, it just didn't interest me enough really.

Without George Clooney or Jennifer Lopez featuring in this movie, I don't know if there would be any reason to watch it. Perhaps I am being a bit unfair and these are only my opinions but personally I wasn't too keen on it and thought that overall it was a pretty weak movie and it just didn't capture my imagination or intrigued or even particularly interested me at all and on that basis, I wouldn't recommend it.

Out of Sight is a decent crime love story. The main attraction here is the sizzling chemistry between Clooney and Lopez. However, the film does have some inefficient elements, such as the useless cameo from Micheal Keaton. Overall, Out ofOut of Sight is a decent crime love story. With a witty script, slickly-directed action set pieces, and a fine central performance, "Out Of Sight" competently elevates itself above the common crime-drama rabble.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the movie, especially these bright scenes in towns which to me are a specific characteristic of these 00's movies. Clearly a model for the 'Ocean's Eleven' which is about to come ou at that time. In addition to that, the soundtrack is very interesting as it fuses jazzy with hip-hop sounds all along. The music is used in a very sensitive way and subtly matches with the different scenes.

The pace of 'Out of Sight' is dreadful. Characters won't stop talking to give us the natural genesis and initial background of the story we are witnessing right now. What's the point? Is this a movie or a told tale? These long conversations do break the movie and give it a fragmented look. There are some few flashbacks but they give a depth to characters, way more than simple words. It clearly contributes to make the transitions between chapters look way too protruding and rude. The love story is really interesting though, as both Karen (Jennifer Lopez) and Jack (Geaorge Clooney) are attracted to each other without making it too much. I really appreciated the finesse of Karen's characters who manages to be a strong women without being overly castrating, making this characteristic a part of her identity without being all of it. The scenes of their encounter in that hotel is simply gorgeous. And paced by a marvelous soundscape. Their acting skills are great for both of them. The rest of the cast is... Well, okay. Don Cheadle as Snoopy is okay even if he clearly lacks of gangster style. Steve Zahn as Glenn is ridiculous as his shows just one face from A to Z, making this characters obviously one-dimensioned. Great cast but under-exploited. Unfortunately, he is not the only one to suffer from the major lack of character development.

'Out of Sight' manages to be funny at times in spite of itself. Because of its ambiance, its fake-old school characters and the credibility it desperately tries to showcase. The very last scenes were the most surprising as the violence and drama eventually show on screen, and totally denote with the the cheerful aspect the movie has installed from the beginning. Entertaining from time to time but clearly not worth that shiny 'must see' label in my humble opinion.

JLo is an arrogant and deplorable woman who doesn't know what quality and talent is. His works are hideous and dark.
