From start to finish, I couldn't take my eyes off my laptop screen as I watched the intriguing, captivating plot of Open Windows unfurl.
If you're down for a "mild" introduction to the powers of modern day digital hacking, intertwined with a brilliant story and amazing directing, Open Windows is what you're certainly looking for!

I don't understand why the critics understimate that movie when he's the most original movie I saw ever. Some critics needs a second whatch.
VIGALONDO ROCKS!

Entertaining and original - two adjectives that you can't use for too many Hollywood films these days. Open Windows is a fine work, with excellent direction and some great ideas.

I give it props for being very ambitious and having a interesting premise, but so much went wrong in this movie that those things aren't enough to make this a truly good movie. Open Windows is about a man named Nick Chambers (Elijah Wood) who gets caught in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse after given the chance to spy on his favorite movie actress, Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey). The movie opens well enough, and it's mildly thrilling until the film starts thinking it's smarter than it actually is. Open Windows bombards you with plot twists after only 20 minutes, and I don't mean little tiny revelations that are found in virtually every movie. I mean plot-altering events, and there's one of them about every 10 minutes. This movie just tries to go bigger and crazier as the plot progresses, and it gets so confusing and aggravating that you don't care by the time you get to the final act. Open Windows was a huge disappointment for me. If you want effective laptop horror, I suggest The Den or Unfriended. Expand

The title is very attractive, but in my opinion the end product is just a mix of concepts that don't complement each other.
"Open Windows" is easy to visualize because it involves suspense and plays with technology such as our everyday devices. The problem is that it doesn't go further into the themes it presents.

Once all the action inside the hotel come to an end, the rest seems to go out wildly. Nacho Vigalondo imposes a breakneck pace ... the problem is that history doesn't keep up.
At one point, I had to go back a few minutes to see if there was a logical thread connecting everything. I don't consider that the problem is on the technical side but in the text. The concepts are good, but the rest ...

It is unfortunate that "Open Windows" waste the potential that its beginning promised.

This movie is just stupid.

The plot is stupid,

It isn't funny

Nothing is interesting,

The characters are forgettable.

The ending is a slap on the face.

and it just lacked effort.

The night of the battle of the hackers!

I have been longing to watch this film since it was out, only now it had happened. There are not many hacking film that could satisfy thoroughly. Well, I haven't found as impressive as the recent 'Who Am I'. This film was more like partially a found-footage type. Everything was from webcams and phone cams. Not exactly truthful to the reality. Even people with basic knowledge about computers would know that. But entertainment was there. I enjoyed it, mainly because of the speed and being an edgy.

Well, a contest winner is waiting in his hotel room for his dinner date with a celebrity in the later night. While he was updating his blog, someone hacks his computer and gives more contents for the blog than he had thought of. But soon it all plays out differently. Now he's the hacker's puppet, and must follow everything he says or the consequences would be serious. How far it all goes and how it all ends are the remaining story to tell us.

As I said not the best in this theme, but watchable film. Everything was a one night event. Slowly started and then picked up the pace before ending on a high. The end was not good, the twist. At least that's how I felt. Should have been better, yet acceptable. Elijah was good. I just checked it out after seeing his nice act in his latest Netflix film. The rest of the cast was fine too. A Spanish film in English language. Soon I'm going to check out the 'Colossal' from this same director. So it is a good time pass film and you might enjoy it as I did.

A work that is not innovative but knows how to take the plot and its narrative well, managing in a style similar to the recent Unfriended but with much better results.

Open Windows is a simple movie, but it manages to capture your attention and that is a very big point in its favor.

I am not surprised that the film turned out to be weak! The plot is full of logical inconsistencies, otherwise how to explain that applications like Utopia p2p are not mentioned in a word? Even Elijah Wood does not save her game, and to be honest, he is more associated with the hobbit Frodo. Expand
