He preys on unsupervised youth, churning out programming that is not appropriate for his target audience. He understands exactly who he is marketing his material to, but seems oblivious to the fact that he is creating a product that is not suitable for them. Do you want your 11 to 15 year old daughter watching this film? Because that is exactly who Dawson has made a living off of, and is trying to appeal to.… Expand

this movie was so bad i started a fight with my family so everyone would get pissed off and walk into there rooms so i could turn it off. i wanted to unsub from netflix after i turned it off. i almost threw up, btw.

I think "Not Cool" is one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. it's even too bad to fall into the category of "So bad, It's good". The over-the-top facial expressions and actions, the unfunny humor, the blatantI think "Not Cool" is one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. it's even too bad to fall into the category of "So bad, It's good". I love Shane Dawson's YouTube channel, I've been a fan for a few years now and still watch his videos today, but I don't think making movies is his strong point. I think only 14 year old boys will get some laughs out of this, and even most of their laughs will only be about how bad it is.… Expand

Didn't laugh throughout the entire movie, but laughed when I looked up the box office and budget statistics. Not Cool was the movie that Shane Dawson had always dreamed of creating; but what he created was not entertaining, humorous, orDidn't laugh throughout the entire movie, but laughed when I looked up the box office and budget statistics. This movie acts as more proof that YouTubers should stick what they are good at: making YouTube videos. The plot had no substance, jokes grew trite very quickly, and the actors, a lot of them his friends, were just not good. It was basically a 90 minute YouTube video, and grows old fast. I love Shane and his channel, but his humor just doesn't belong in long movies, or anything on a larger scale than a YouTube video.… Expand

honestly, it's what you would expect if Michael Bay directed a movie about collecting rocks starring Nicolas Cage and Pauly shore, crap. Then again in that hypothetical you would get some enjoyment from explosions. Woah. Wow. did i just actually just watch this? this movie at times is hilarious (because of how stupid it is) & other times i have no words for the dialogue that i was hearing. very bad movie.

I really think that the movie is a copy of a bad comedy. All the jokes exaggerates to a point that isn't funny. The goal of a comedy is make laugh and for that you must be a good director.

A bad movie by all accounts. Shane Dawson can be funny, as evidenced by his YouTube channel However, I think that expanding his jokes into a full film cannot possibly work. All jokes are about sex and cussing is just peppered in for noA bad movie by all accounts. All jokes are about sex and cussing is just peppered in for no reason. I have no problem at all with cussing, unless it is there for no reason. This is the problem with almost every YouTubers films, they don't realize that what works in a 3 minute video won't work in an hour-and-a-half movie. The worst thing is, it looks like Dawson was trying to create a good movie. The only issue was, he tried to make it appeal to the 13 year old demographic, instead of the 20-30 year-olds that watch his videos. Another thing is that Dawson's brand of humor is well known to his fans. Unfortunately, the average moviegoer has not seen his videos. so most of his type of humor is lost on them. Shane, if you read this, please, PLEASE, stick to YouTube.
Other points:
- Riddled with cliches.
- Generic plot
- Bland characters
- Too much gross-out humor
- Only funny character was homeless man.
- Why is every character in the movie so damn mean to each other?

Shane, if you read this, please, PLEASE, stick to YouTube.
Don't do another movie unless you have an actually good idea this time.… Expand

I do believe that Dawson holds some potential in his film making abilities, however 'Not Cool' does not show this sadly. It's a terrible movie. The acting isn't really good, and the plot seems too vulgar and senseless. It's like comparing a good movie, like Cast Away, to this crap. This film is utterly cringe-worthy with a lack of genuine humor, poor acting performances and overall a disappointing story. Whilst it had potential, this film does not live up to the expectations and is utterly painful to watch.

"Not Cool" is Shane Dawson's debut film. Shane Dawson is talented, I have seen some of his shorts (How Shanaynay Stole Christmas and Friends4Ever) they are entertaining and funny. Really funny, entertaining and with a good story. Much more than a 90 minute Youtube video. Although the comedy style will surely turn off a lot of people, and the review score confirms that, I enjoyed it. 'nuff said.

To paraphrase the bard - I come not to praise Shane Dawson - but I don't think we should bury him just yet.

I laughed out loud a bunch. I also groaned quite a bit. The cinematography feels mundane and the final product is disorganized.. It needs some polish on the script or maybe a different edit.

Despite the movie's failings, Dawson is saying something important here about the emotional hollowness of the internet generation. That message gets muddled in Not Cool but I'm interested to hear what he might have to add later in his career.… Expand

Sometime **** just need to be funny...in this case lots of **** I remember going to see Dumb and Dumber with my aunt an uncle in the movie theater. We had to leave after the heart in a doggy bag fight scene because they were THAT offended. This is the comedy of the current generation rising to fame, deal with it and adapt you critic ****… Expand

Very good movie, the movie contains a lot of sarcastic jokes which made me laugh. The plot is a bit kitschy but all in one very nice. I would recommend the movie to anybody that likes black humor:)

this movie is made by shane dawson, a comedian and youtuber. This movie was not supposed to be an amazing million $$ movie, it was ment to be comedic and have a "cheapish" theme. It is exactly what i expected and thats why i gave 10/10

Not Cool is the definition of just okay. Shane Dawson is a fine director for his first time. The humor isn’t great but it’s not horrible. Overall I’m a little mixed, I still enjoyed it though

This movie is offensive to everyone and anyone. As a filmmaker myself, I find it incredibly sad to see money go down the drain that could have gone to one of my fellow filmmakers.
