A film shamefully crumpled in on itself, onanistic metacinema about the vicissitudes of being directors in Iran. 1) A political criticism of Islamic theocracies makes no sense if one is aware that the root of the problem is theological. The absolute refractoriness to progressivist developments is not due to the lack of encounter with Enlightenment, but to the idea that the Koran would be a copy of the original written by Allah and dictated to Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel, and without human mediation as in the other two Abrahamic religions there is no exegetic, hermeneutic, interpretative possibility. 2) The cordon sanitaire of national and international colleagues has rushed to Panhani's aid as when the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to an important personality in danger of life. But here Panhani thinks only of his own existence and becomes the spokesman for the oppressed others only in conclusion, mentioning for a few seconds of torture, imprisonment, attempted suicides and murders suffered by his compatriots. "No bears" não é um filme fácil. Adotando propositadamente um tom documental, é daqueles filmes recheados de cenas aleatórias que parecem ir rumo a lugar nenhum, como numa aparentemente despretenciosa gravação de vídeo que ocorre no longa, e"No bears" não é um filme fácil. Adotando propositadamente um tom documental, é daqueles filmes recheados de cenas aleatórias que parecem ir rumo a lugar nenhum, como numa aparentemente despretenciosa gravação de vídeo que ocorre no longa, e de repente aquilo se transforma num vulcão em erupção.
Devido a sutileza do roteiro e ao enquadramento natural de seus personagens num Oriente médio que se oculta, e ao mesmo tempo se revela, é preciso estar atento aos detalhes, aos nuances de uma sociedade que se diz fechada, mas no fundo respira hipocrisia e onde as coisas não deixam de acontecer. Afinal, trata-se de humanos, independente da sociedade a qual pertencem, estarão a qualquer hora a explodir os hormônios do desejo, da inveja, ou mesmo da curiosidade sobre a vida alheia.
Há aqui um clima de tensão quase constante, e a trilha mais silenciosa dá conta de passar a sensação claustrofóbica, mas confesso que, particularmente, me sinto pouco envolvido. É como se a história passasse de forma fria e crua demais. Talvez eu seja mais sinestésico por não conseguir me envolver tanto assim com uma história narrada tal qual um documentário, inclusive fazendo-se uso de jogadas de câmera à mão que os personagens usam, como já dito. O fato é que, também, a história demora a engrenar, e isso prejudicou a minha imersão.
Ainda assim, é daqueles típicos filmes de detalhe e de retrato de uma camada social, ficando o registro do poder moral da religião e da mentalidade fechada de um povo. Não que isso seja exclusividade do Oriente Médio, sempre bom frisar.… Expand

This is a story-telling cinema, but sometimes it forces the audience to watch a documentary. We know that Jafar Panahi is prohibited and restricted from making films, but he still tells stories, he is a king of cinema.
