Wow how can so many talented people decide to be part of such a terrible film. Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Garner, and Barry Sonnenfeld must have got a big pay check. F

My kid literally complained about being bored and asked if we could leave before the movie was half way finished.

Every so often it seems like Hollywood feels the need to write the same tired, cliche filled, human-turned-animal movie. I can go all the way back to 1980 with these garbage movies, back when Chevy Chase was playing a reincarnated dog in "Oh Heavenly Dog". 36 years later and they're still just as terrible as they always are. Completely devoid of any redeeming qualities, there is zero reason to spend any money on this film. It might not even be worth watching when it inevitably shows up on a commercial cable channel.

This was written in the nineties known as "Look Who's Talking Meow".It was going to have Mr. Spacey as the lead roll, but decided to a little film known as Se7en. I Guess he found this script 20 years later?

A total bore, Nine Lives is downright awful, and is a cliche filled, unoriginal mess that left the youngest kids in the theater wishing they had never entered in the first place.

Why Kevin...Just Why? This is beneath you. It's one thing for a big name actor to help out an indie film to get traction by having a big name attached. But this garbage? This? WHY KEVIN WHY!?!?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. : Oh my, this film sucks so much!! It was astoundingly awful!!! I honestly thought the trailer was a joke, I could not believe this was the real movie. It’s 2016 guys, no one wants to see a film where Kevin Spacey plays a cat. I am actually going to spoil the plot of this one, that’s how much I disliked it and don’t want people to go and see it. The film is awful with Kevin Spacey playing a ‘Richard Branson’ type of business man, who doesn’t spend much time with his family and as a result gets turned into a cat by Christopher Walken. He is an awful villain who is completely one dimensional. The effects are amazingly rubbish, that it looks like it was made in the 90’s, the cat noises were so annoying that I didn’t want to see my own cats when I got home because I was so sick of the mewing. The writing is awful including one of the characters having a suicide sub plot, yes I am not joking, there is a suicide sub plot at the end of the movie, this is a kid’s film? Isn’t it? The comedy is not funny and any time that an audience member laughed I felt like strangling them because it is not funny, it’s not big, it’s not clever and you are just encouraging it!!! It was so unpleasant an experience. It was only on for 1hr 20mins but felt more like 2hrs. This deserves a 7% on rotten tomatoes, the critics can’t even be bothered to give it a 1 out of 10. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS, IT IS NOT FUNNY. Expand

Good movie to go see as a family a rainy day of summer to add a happy moment of he day. Although, for a comedy, I didn't laugh through the movie. Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner take they're role seriously.

Nothing was funny, but everything was predictable in a horrendous script written by FIVE people! That is basically the most unprecedented achievement of atrocity of all time!
To add to this 90 minute garbage dump, the characters only existed as cut-outs and pawns in a movie about business written as if it must be a kids film. A pet-peeve of mine also shows its ugliness in this movie too: narration. While there are examples of narration done right, these are few and far between, and this movie is no exception. Furthermore, this project seems like an idea that someone wrote up to get the guiness world record for fastest scriptwriting time.
Just ignore this film and see Pete's Dragon. For all I know, Nine lives is the epitome of manipulation, cliches, and shoddiness, leaving me with no other choice but to grant it a seal of disavowal and condemn it to the ballot of the Golden Raspberry Awards.

I think Kevin Spacey is trying to tell us something with this role. Something about how you may be on thing on the outside but on the inside you are different and more openminded than some people may think. And you are willing to let things inside you that some modern religions would frown upon.

And even though everyone was disappointed by House of Cards after season 2 we all know that once the USC Kevin Spacey School of Overperforming Arts is opened that a whole generation of actors will learn what it's like to ham it up and my cat loves ham BTW.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly a compelling and true to its source movie. After Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) gets turned into a cat from the wrath of God's powers he seeks out to find the true meaning of happiness by trying to connect with his wife and soon to be dead from cancer daughter but as soon as he is about to give up and commit suicide as a cat, God grants him one more chance and turns him back into a human and seeks out to assassinate Felix Grant (Christopher Walken) when he learns that he was the one that actually turned him into a cat, therefor *spoiler alert* Felix was God this whole time. He's unaware that he is about to lose them so naturally mystical forces get involved and turn him into the family pet so that he can learn a lesson and change his ways. I don't know about you, but I think this movie has been made once before. That's right, it has! I was called The Shaggy Dog and honestly I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first one to do it.

The movie is basically the exact same premise, only this time with a cat. The same setup, morals, and outcome are all found here. The difference? That movie was funny. Not too mention plenty of other movies have used the same idea minus the part where the character turns into a house pet. We've had Adam Sandler's Click, Eddie Murphy in A Thousand Words, and The Shaggy Dog had Tim Allen. Who does Nine Lives have? Kevin Spacey...

Now don't get me wrong I am in no way criticizing Spacey's acting. The man is good. This just isn't the kind of movie he belongs in. At least with the other movies I mentioned even for all their shortcomings they had some big names in comedy backing them up.

The unoriginality, predictability, and outright laziness of the writing also extends to the humor. Literally all of the jokes boil down to watching the cat fall down, pee on something, or occasionally toss out a semi-decent one-liner. Now, this is perfectly okay for the kids out there. To be honest, it's perfectly cute and harmless. The youngsters will even be willing to overlook the movie's straight-to-DVD quality. As for the parents and older kids in the family? Yeah, let them watch this one on their own.

It's a cheaply made, lazy, disposable bit of children's entertainment. One that can keep them out of your hair for 87 minutes while you do anything else. Seriously, it sucks so I don't recommend watching it with them. But hey, it won't harm the kids in anyway as it's completely wholesome. Basically they won't notice how bad it is, but you totally will. Do with that info what you will.

We learn from our mistakes, but some people from a supernatural accident!

So another switching body and soul theme, but not as bad as it looks. The problem is, it was so ordinary story, like the writers were never serious about making it big. That is the first thing what this film compromised. That makes it the quality of a television film. I mean the production quality was amazing, including all the graphics parts, but the plot was not developed to greater heights. So falls short to entertain its viewers, especially if you had seen films like 'Fluke' and others. The younger kids might like it, but this film was made keeping in the mind all the ages. So surely anybody can watch this, but the joy is limited.

Very sad to know it was made by 'Men in Black' director. For his capability, this is a silly film. I don't know the reason, maybe he was tricked and the only way out is making this film. Whatever, his presence was what made this film so rich in the technical side. This is the story of a successful businessman who is a proud owner of the tallest building in the northern hemisphere. There's no respect by him for his employees and he totally neglected his family, particularly his young daughter. But one fateful day, his soul gets trapped in a cat and from there, how he's going to make it back is what told with his great struggles.

I would say the cast was decent and so the screenplay, but the CGI cat was awesome, almost flawless for such a small film like this. The story and its events were not explained in details for us like how it had all happened like its logic. Since we are familiar with this type of films, they skipped most important segments and went directly to the story to develop which is actually the struggles like fighting back to break the curse than shaping up it with a neat story. So in my viewpoint, it is okay for watching once. This is a comedy, but you would hardly laugh. Yet much better than those real comedies from the recent times.
