Couldn´t finish watching it... the last half hour is just unbearable. I know that modern teen movies should follow the trend of the times, which right now is dumb teens and their social media, smartphones and ultra low IQ. If watching people watching other people stare into a phone while other people record the players do stupid **** with a really bad story line/inconsistent characters is appealing to you, this is your movie!

Corniest line of the film: "Ugh, you are such a watcher.". CRINGE.

I was genuinely excited to see this film because it has a very interesting concept and it’s rather interesting that it has coincidentally come out around a similar time that Pokemon Go has become popular, though obviously that is a complete coincidence. Nerve is a great film, provided you don’t think about it in any way whatsoever. The second you do, this is so stupid. The whole point of the film is that it never explains half of what is going on, so as a result we have little or no idea. It’s also really unsubtle in its whole commentary on young people’s use of the internet, including YouTube, GEO cashing and trolling and Facebook. The whole concept of being forced to do dares online for money is actually an interesting idea, but they never really expand upon it and there are a couple of moments which are way too far-fetched and as a result sink the movie. I will say the ending, despite being incredibly abrupt and anti-climatic and didn’t answer half the lingering questions I had left over was at least a lot better than the messages from Friend Request and the god awful Unfriended. But it still did not work and this film annoyed the hell out of me because too many people gave this film a pass. No, it’s a bad film, really stupid and I am going to go against the critical consensus on this one, this is probably one where everyone else likes it and I think it is rubbish for 2016. Expand

Emma Roberts and Dave Franco's charisma is the only redeemable aspect of this far fetched, plot hole littered mess. Original for sure? Yes it is but the concept is the only thing that remotely worked for this film from start to finish.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In a word: stupid. Not that I was expecting a techno-teen-thriller (or at least this is how it looked to me from the trailer), but there is no tech, no thriller, just the teen part.
The nerd/geeks/hackers have nice outdated network graphics but there is no explanation on "how" (or at least "why"); the centerless gaming seems to be run by sociopaths (really, everyone was cheering for the V lady to the end, when everyone suddenly wanted her killed) or at least idiots. The decryption of real names from the login IDs is particularly idiotic, but let's pass this.
But the transformation of the heroine from one having fears just to talk to the high school male star into escaping almost nude from a store, driving a blind motorcycle race (and being even more insane than the male driver), and walking a (very insecure) staircase between two buildings in just a few hours ... I simply don't buy it.
The characters are also sketchy, acting is just ok (with the bad exception of Juliette Lewis mom being exceptionally stupidly scripted and unconvincingly acting - really, all the money disappearing from the family account and the only kid missing, after the older brother died at roughly the same age !). The script is linear, stereotypical characters (the leading pair, the nerd, the bad girl, the mom, and the unnamed evil) - just the directing is good. Might have saved the director for a The Fugitive-like movie.
Not recommended unless you have nothing better to do. Even so, you'll figure the movie in the first quarter of hour, and what's let to be discovered if we got to see Emma Roberts gorgeous body or not.
