Decent story & well acted out by the two lead actresses &, of course, Paddy Considine.

Typically class obsessed UK story of 2 girls from different sides of the tracks. And yes they do end up having girl on girl sex, but you would have to be wound up pretty tight to call it pornographic. I walked out of the movie wishing to strangle the people who made this film in much the same way strangulation was portrayed on screen. What a cop-out. Another film equating homosexuality with insanity. Extremely offensive!

If you think that this movie equates homosexuality with insanity, you've missed the whole point. And I think the anti-Christian theme was fresh and daring. Plus, the movie is quietly hilarious. Best movie I've seen in a long tiome.

Apparently, there is a 3-step formula for making a profound film- shaky camera + a homosexual relationship + pseudo-intellectual ridicule of the Christian faith= this movie is a predictable, tedious waste of time.

And I haven't even begun to complain about the chock-full-o'-religious-fundamentalism cliches. No, this isn't the worst film ever made. But it has to be amongst the most pretentiously dishonest films I've seen. It's also one of the most ham-fisted scripts I've come across. Natalie Press made an impression. Paddy Considine- bleh. I'm sick of him, too. Oh, and... had the camera shook one more time to suggest emotional distress, a tsunami would have hit England.… Expand

The best film I've seen this year. It is stunningly beautiful. England's countryside draws you in. You won't be able to take your eyes off the principal actresses; they're brilliant. Perfect acting, good story and anti-Christian theme make My Summer Of Love one of the best movies I've ever seen. The only weakness is that the last 20 minutes are too predictable. But it's still a fantastic movie.

Beautiful, haunting and evocative. The camera, the cinematography, the environment - everything is utterly captivating. Extremely well acted. Our sympathies lie with Mona, and even grow at the end, despite the revelation of her darker side. A very fine, emotionally genuine film.

Pawlikowski has always been keen on details. From camera work to his meticulous adaptation to Helen Cross's novel, he has reasons and rights to fall deep into them, as a result we too are falling into it. This short and often shifty ride that pops back and forth i.e. from romance to thriller and from drama to satire, the sense of urgency and provoking irritation of not achieving the freedom, speaks clearly how and when Pawel Pawlikowski; the screenwriter and director, triumphs on his work.

The first half of the film basically just sweeps away all the distraction and the introductory formalities of the structure where subconsciously Mona's (Natalie Press) lack of freedom on even an opinion and Tamsin's (Emily Blunt) flight of freedom is jolted down accurately on screen. The typical rift between siblings is exaggerated wisely to a suicidal rage in order to express the confound and cornered emotions of Mona completely to us.

And this tug of war of controlling each others lives is the core equation of the film solved effortlessly by the makers. Phil, Mona's brother, played by Paddy Considine is a forced to be reckoned with. His powerful character and performance creates a spiritual antagonist fighting both metaphorically and literally on screen. Blunt's performance defines when she listens to Phil and his ideologies that captures her; he is easy she claims later on, but she does fool us for a moment. Unfortunately, the lead actor, Press isn't as outstanding as her supporting cast is, her conflicts are easily absorbing hence it grows easy on us. The film is not as breezy as it looks, it notions towards dark territories and then beams within a snap, leaving us shook and satisfied. My Summer Of Love is a brief affair, exhilarating, bumpy and wiser.… Expand

What an interesting powerful movie. In an hour and a half it tackles so many issues in everyone's daily life. Homosexuality seems to randomly hit the two actresses in the way this subject doesn't even look like being the centre of the movie.What an interesting powerful movie. Homosexuality seems to randomly hit the two actresses in the way this subject doesn't even look like being the centre of the movie. It bears its name really well as the two main characters seem to forget themselves during the whole plot. Events happens one after another without truly defining the protagonists who just want to try to be people they are not.

Acting is great especially by Emily Blunt while I couldn't help but think Natalie Press was playing like some sort of retarded teenage girl. We have a few informations about characters' backgrounds' and history which make us understand where they all are coming from. The parallel plot with the brother's beliefs is great and bring some depth to the movie.

The overall atmosphere is awesome. Ending (no spoil) is really worth the trip.… Expand
